मनोरंजन के कई आयाम हैं. उन आयामों में एक आयाम है सिनेमा. पिछले दिनों सत्तर दशक के अभिनेताओं के बारे में जाना था. आज हम बात कर रहें हैं अस्सी दशक की. वर्ष 1980 का दशक भारतीय सिनेमा के इतिहास संक्रमन काल का था. इस दौर में एक ओर व्यावसायिक फिल्मों का प्रभाव चरम पर था, तो दूसरी ओर समानांतर सिनेमा भी अपनी अलग पहचान बना रहा था. इस दशक के अभिनेताओं ने न केवल दर्शकों का भरपूर मनोरंजन किया, बल्कि भारतीय समाज की बदलती मानसिकता, संघर्ष, पारिवारिक मूल्यों और सामाजिक विषमताओं को भी पर्दे पर प्रभावशाली ढंग से प्रस्तुत किया था. वर्तमान समय तक अस्सी के दशक के अभिनेताओं का जलवा बरकरार है.
सत्तर के दशक के दिग्गजों अपने अस्तित्व बचाने के लिए संघर्ष करते नजर आये. ‘एंग्री यंग मैन’ के रूप में विख्यात अमिताभ बच्चन ने इस दशक में भी अपनी पकड़ बनाए रखी वहीँ, सत्तर के दशक के सितारे धर्मेंद्र अस्सी के दशक ने एक्शन, रोमांस, सहज अभिनय शैली और प्रभावशाली संवाद-अदायगी ने उन्हें हर वर्ग के दर्शकों का प्रिय बनाया. सत्तर के दशक के ‘सुपरस्टार’ राजेश खन्ना भी अस्सी के दशक में विविध भूमिकाओं में नज़र आए. बताते चलें कि, सत्तर के दशक के मध्य में राजेश खन्ना की सुपरस्टार्डम कम होने के बाद रोमांटिक हीरो की जगह खाली थी जिसे स्टार पुत्रों ने भरा था.
- ‘सुपरस्टार’ राजेश खन्ना: ‘सुपरस्टार’ राजेश खन्ना भी अस्सी के दशक में विविध भूमिकाओं में नज़र आए. उन्होंने अस्सी के दौर में भी अपने पुराने जादू को बरकारार रखने की कोशिस करते हुए फिल्म कुदरत और सौतन में अपनी उपस्थिति दर्ज करवाई.
- धर्मेंद्र : – सत्तर के दशक में एक्शन फिल्मों के बड़े सितारे धर्मेंद्र अस्सी के दशक में एक्शन फिल्मों के ‘हैस-बीन’ स्टार की छवि में ढल गए. उन्होंने 52 वर्ष की आयु में एक साल में छह मनोरंजक एक्शन फिल्में कीं, जिनमें ‘हुकूमत'(1987) और ‘वतन के रखवाले’ भी थीं इन दोनों फिल्मों में अतिवादी एक्शन का प्रदर्शन किया था.
- अमिताभ बच्चन: – ‘एंग्री यंग मैन’ के रूप में विख्यात अमिताभ बच्चन ने इस दशक में भी अपनी पकड़ बनाए रखी और उन्होंने ‘शान’ (1980), ‘दोस्ताना’ (1980) और ‘राम बलराम’ (1980) जैसी फिल्मों में उन्होंने अपनी अभिनय प्रतिभा का लोहा मनवाया. इस दौर में सत्तर के दशक की सफलता के फॉर्मूले अब उतने कारगर नहीं रह गए थे वहीं,दूसरी ओर सलीम-जावेद कि जोड़ी भी टूट गई थी. साथ ही प्रकाश मेहरा, यश चोपड़ा, मनमोहन देसाई तथा ऋषिकेश मुखर्जी जैसे निर्देशकों के साथ बनी अमिताभ की सुपरहिट फिल्मों का सिलसिला मध्य-अस्सी तक कमजोर पड़ने लगा था. बताते चलें कि, इसी दौर में अमिताभ बच्चन ने राजनीती में कदम रखा था लेकिन, बोफोर्स मामले में उनकी छवि धूमिल हुई थी.
जितेंद्र ने अस्सी के दशक में अपनी कुछ बेहतरीन फिल्में दीं वहीं, अस्सी के दशक में विनोद खन्ना का का संन्यास से लौटना (1987 में इंसाफ के जरिए). सत्तर के दशक के मध्य में राजेश खन्ना की सुपरस्टार्डम कम होने के बाद रोमांटिक हीरो की जगह खाली थी. अस्सी के दशक की शुरुआत में स्टार पुत्रों ने इस खाली जगह को भरा था.
- कुमार गौरव: – फिल्म लव स्टोरी(1981) से कुमार गौरव ने शुरुआत की परन्तु अपनी प्रारंभिक सफलता को बरकरार नहीं रख पाए.
- संजय दत्त: – फिल्म रॉकी (1981) से संजय दत्त ने अपने कैरियर की शुरुआत की. वो नरगिस और सुनील दत्त के बेटे है. उन्होंने अस्सी और नब्बे के दशक के प्रमुख एक्शन हीरो के रूप में उभरे, साथ ही कॉमेडी विधा में भी सराहना प्राप्त की. उनका निजी जीवन ड्रग्स की समस्याओं से ग्रस्त रहा.
- सनी देओल: – फिल्म बेताब(1983) से अपने कैरियर की शुरुआत की. उनके पिता का नाम है धर्मेंद्र. इसके बाद उन्होंने ऐसी फिल्में कीं जिन्होंने उन्हें बॉलीवुड के सर्वश्रेष्ठ एक्शन हीरो के रूप में स्थापित किया. ‘अर्जुन’ (1985) इस दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण फिल्म थी.
- मिथुन चक्रवर्ती: – अस्सी के दशक के सबसे चर्चित नामों में से एक नाम है मिथुन चक्रवर्ती का. वर्ष 1982 में आई फिल्म डिस्को डांसर ने उन्हें रातों-रात स्टार बना दिया था. इस फिल्म ने करीब 100 करोड़ रुपये का कलेक्शन किया था. उन्होंने अपनी डांसिंग स्किल्स और अनोखी स्क्रीन उपस्थिति से दर्शकों का दिल जीता था.
- अनिल कपूर: – अनिल कपूर ने अपने फिल्मी सफर की शुरुआत तेलुगु और कन्नड़ फिल्मों से की थी. उन्होंने वर्ष 1980 में तेलुगु फिल्म ‘वंश वृक्षम्’ (1980) में अभिनय किया, उसके बाद मणिरत्नम की पहली फिल्म ‘पल्लवी अनु पल्लवी’ (1983) में काम किया था. अनिल कपूर ने ‘वो 7 दिन’ से हिंदी फिल्मों में अपनी पहचान बनाई और उनकी पहली बड़ी हिट फिल्म (1987) ‘मि. इंडिया’ थी. उन्होंने ‘स्लमडॉग मिलियनेयर’ जैसी अंतरराष्ट्रीय फिल्मों में काम करके विश्व स्तर पर भी पहचान बनाई.
- जैकी श्रॉफ: – फिल्म हीरो(1983) से जैकी ने अपने कैरियर की शुरुआत की थी. उनकी बेहतरी फिल्म कर्मा थी. जैकी के रफ एंड टफ आकर्षण ने उन्हें उद्योग में एक प्रमुख चेहरा बना दिया था.
- ऋषि कपूर: – ऋषि कपूर को उनके चार्मिंग पर्सनालिटी और नैचुरल अभिनय के लिए जाना जाता था. वे न केवल एक उत्कृष्ट अभिनेता थे बल्कि उन्होंने अपने जीवन काल में भारतीय सिनेमा को विभिन्न योगदान दिए. उन्होंने ने अपने फिल्मी कैरियर की शुरुआत बाल कलाकार के रूप में 1970 में फिल्म “मेरा नाम जोकर” से की थी. ‘चाँदनी’ और ‘कर्ज़’ जैसी रोमांटिक फिल्मों में उन्होंने दर्शकों को मंत्रमुग्ध किया.
- गोविंदा: – गोविंदा अपनी कॉमेडी टाइमिंग के लिए जाने जाते हैं. उन्होंने ‘कूली नं. 1’ और ‘हीरो नं. 1’ जैसी सुपरहिट फिल्में दीं। अस्सी के दशक के अंत तक उन्होंने अपनी एक अलग पहचान बना ली थी.
- नसीरुद्दीन शाह: – अस्सी के दशक में सबसे प्रतिभाशाली अभिनेताओं में से एक नाम नसीरुद्दीन शाह का आता है जिन्होंने ‘अर्ध सत्य’, ‘आक्रोश’, ‘मिर्च मसाला’, ‘होली’, ‘कथा’, ‘स्पर्श’ और ‘अर्थ’ जैसी फिल्में सामाजिक संदेशों के साथ घर-घर पहुँचीं थी.
इसके अलावा फारूक शेख, पंकज कपूर, राज बब्बर, सईद जाफरी का भी नाम आता है जिन्होंने अस्सी के दशक में गंभीर और यथार्थवादी अभिनय की नींव रखी थी. वहीं, वर्ष 1988 में हिंदी सिनेमा ने आमिर खान और सलमान खान ने भी अपनी पहचान बनाई. वर्ष 1982 में एशियाई खेलों के प्रसारण ने टेलीविजन को लोगों के घरों तक पहुँचा दिया, जिससे सिनेमाघरों में जाने वालों की संख्या में कमी आई थी. इस दौर में डीवीडी की शुरुआत और पायरेसी ने बॉक्स ऑफिस को बुरी तरह प्रभावित किया था. वैसे तो देखा जाय तो इस दशक में स्टार पुत्रों का बोलबाला रहा.
- आमिर खान: – फिल्म ‘कयामत से कयामत तक’ (1988) से अपनी कैरियर की शुरुआत की. इस फिल्म में उनकी बाल-सुलभ छवि ने दर्शकों के दिलों में आग लगा दी थी.
- सलमान खान: – फिल्म ‘मैंने प्यार किया’ (1989) से अपने कैरियर की शुरुआत की थी. अस्सी के दशक के अपराध और बदला की कहानियों के बाद, ये प्रेम कहानियाँ दर्शकों के लिए ताज़ी हवा का झोंका थीं.
वर्ष 1990 के दशक की शुरुआत में आमिर, सलमान और बाद में शाहरुख खान ने रोमांटिक हीरो के एक नए युग की शुरुआत की. वहीं, दूसरी ओर अस्सी का दशक परिवर्तन, संघर्ष और पुनर्जन्म का दशक था. यह दशक विरोधाभासों से भरा हुआ था. एक ओर फार्मूलाबद्ध एक्शन और अपराध की कहानियाँ, दूसरी ओर सामाजिक संदेशों वाली गंभीर फिल्में. एक ओर स्टार पुत्रों का दबदबा, दूसरी ओर नए चेहरों का उदय.
वर्ष 1980 के दशक का अंत हिंदी सिनेमा के इतिहास का एक बड़ा टर्निंग पॉइंट था. एक तरफ दर्शक मार-धाड़ और घिसे-पिटे फॉर्मूलों से थक चुके थे. वर्ष के अंत में ‘चॉकलेट बॉय’ की एंट्री हुई जिसके बाद संगीतमय रोमांस का दौर वापस आया. अस्सी के दशक के अभिनेताओं ने हिंदी सिनेमा को एक ऐसा मोड़ दिया जिसने नब्बे के दशक के युवा रोमांटिक हीरोज (शाहरुख, सलमान, आमिर) के लिए मार्ग प्रशस्त किया. उन्होंने व्यावसायिक सफलता और कलात्मक उत्कृष्टता के बीच संतुलन स्थापित करने का प्रयास किया तथा आने वाली पीढ़ियों के कलाकारों के लिए प्रेरणा का स्रोत बने. अस्सी के दशक के अभिनेता केवल सफल कलाकार ही नहीं, बल्कि भारतीय लोकप्रिय संस्कृति के स्थायी प्रतीक भी हैं.

The 1980s were a transitional period in the history of Indian cinema. While commercial films were at their peak, parallel cinema was also establishing its own identity. The actors of this decade not only entertained audiences but also effectively portrayed the changing mindset, struggles, family values, and social inequalities of Indian society on screen. The charisma of the 80s actors remains intact even today.
The veterans of the 70s were seen struggling to survive. Amitabh Bachchan, known as the “Angry Young Man,” maintained his dominance in this decade. Dharmendra, a star of the 70s, whose combination of action, romance, effortless acting, and impressive dialogue delivery endeared him to audiences of all walks of life in the 80s. Rajesh Khanna, the “superstar” of the 70s, also appeared in a variety of roles in the 80s.
