रंगमंच की दुनिया से एक तारा हम सभी से दूर होकर अनंत सफर की ओर प्रस्थान कर गए. हम एक ऐसे सितारे की बात कर रहें हैं जिसक जीवन संघर्ष से शुरू हुआ था. उन्होंने अपनी जिंदगी के साथ-साथ अभिनय जगत में भी संघर्ष किया. उन्होंने कला संसार के किरदार (संघर्ष, आक्रोश, करुणा, हास्य और सामाजिक चेतना) को जिया साथ ही ग्लैमर से अधिक चरित्र की प्रामाणिकता व आंतरिक सत्य को महत्व दिया था. 08 अक्टूबर 2026 को 75 वर्ष की आयु में वो सितारा अनंत सफर की ओर प्रस्थान कर गए.
नाना पाटेकर का जन्म 1 जनवरी 1951 को महाराष्ट्र के मुरुड-जंजीरा में हुआ था. उनका वास्तविक नाम विश्वनाथ पाटेकर था. उनका प्रारंभिक जीवन आर्थिक कठिनाइयों से भरा हुआ था. उन्होंने मुंबई के सर जे.जे. स्कूल ऑफ आर्ट में शिक्षा प्राप्त किया था. नाना ने अपने कैरियर की शुरुआत रंगमंच से की थी.
वर्ष 1978 में फिल्म ‘गमन’ से नाना पाटेकर ने डेव्यू किया. लगभग 05 दशकों तक हिंदी व मराठी सिनेमा, रंगमंच और निर्देशन में अपनी छाप छोड़ी. परिंदा में ‘अन्ना’ की भूमिका के लिए उन्हें राष्ट्रीय फ़िल्म पुरस्कार और फ़िल्मफेयर पुरस्कार भी मिला था.

नाना पाटेकर ने वर्ष 1978 में नीलकांती पाटेकर से विवाह किया. नीलकांती पाटेकर एक पूर्व बैंक अधिकारी, मराठी अभिनेत्री और लेखिका हैं, जिन्हें उनकी फिल्म ‘आत्मविश्वास’ के लिए नेशनल अवॉर्ड भी मिल चुका है. उनके दो बेटे है – दुर्वासा पाटेकर (दो वर्ष की उम्र में बीमारी के कारण निधन हो गया था.) और मल्हार पाटेकर.
कला जगत में नाना पाटेकर के उत्कृष्ट योगदान के लिए उन्हें तीन राष्ट्रीय फिल्म पुरस्कार, चार फिल्मफेयर पुरस्कार और वर्ष 2013 में भारत सरकार द्वारा पद्म श्री से सम्मानित किया गया था.

A star from the world of theatre has departed from our midst, embarking on an eternal journey. We speak of a star whose life began amidst struggle; he contended with hardships in both his personal life and the acting world. He embodied the various facets of the artistic realm—struggle, rage, compassion, humor, and social consciousness—while prioritizing the authenticity of character and inner truth over mere glamour. On October 8, 2026, at the age of 75, this star set out on his final journey.
Nana Patekar was born on January 1, 1951, in Murud-Janjira, Maharashtra. His real name was Vishwanath Patekar. His early life was marked by financial hardship. He received his education at the Sir J.J. School of Art in Mumbai and began his career in theatre.
Nana Patekar made his film debut in 1978 with Gaman. Over the course of nearly five decades, he left an indelible mark on Hindi and Marathi cinema, theatre, and direction. He received both the National Film Award and the Film fare Award for his portrayal of ‘Anna’ in the film Parinda.

Nana Patekar married Neelkanti Patekar in 1978. Neelkanti Patekar is a former bank officer, Marathi actress, and writer who has also received a National Award for her film Aatmavishwas. They have two sons: Durvasa Patekar (who passed away due to illness at the age of two) and Malhar Patekar.
For his outstanding contribution to the world of art, Nana Patekar was honored with three National Film Awards, four Film fare Awards, and the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2013.
