Brahma Janati Iti Brahman:।।

Often we all use this verse commonly. Do you know what the meaning of the verse is and where it is taken from? Let us know…

This verse has been taken from the Nagar section of Skanda Purana. “Brahma Janati Iti Brahman:” which means “One who knows Brahman, is Brahman.” Here the word ‘Brahman’ is used for the person who has spiritual knowledge and understanding of Brahman. Brahma here means the supreme spiritual truth or the ultimate reality of existence; Or we can say that only the attainment of knowledge elevates one to a higher position, and this knowledge is independent of caste or class.

Meaning of Brahma:-

The meaning of the word “Brahman” is deeply rooted in Hindu philosophy and is commonly understood as the infinite and formless reality that underlies the entire universe. It is often described as the formless, infinite, and continuous consciousness that is the basis of the entire universe. Brahman is also defined in Advaita Vedanta as ‘Satyam Jnanam Anantam Brahman’, which means that Brahman is truth, knowledge, and infinite. Following are some of its main meanings:-

Supreme Reality: Brahman is seen as the supreme reality in various branches of Hinduism, especially Advaita Vedanta. It is considered as a state where there is no individual quality, shape or limits.

Spiritual Truth: – Brahman is also understood as the ultimate spiritual truth which is in unity with the soul (atman) of all living beings. This is the origin of the existence of all living beings.

Eternal and Immutable: – Brahman is seen as an existence which neither arises nor is destroyed, that is, it is eternal and immutable.

The basis of the universe: – Brahma is considered to be the basis of all things, it is the one who shapes and maintains all the forms of the universe, but it it has no form.

Path to Moksha: – In the Hindu spiritual tradition, achieving unity with Brahman is the main goal of moksha or liberation. It frees the person from the cycle of birth and death.

This concept of Brahma helps in achieving self-realization through yoga, meditation and spiritual exploration, allowing one to realize the unity between the souls (Atman) and Brahma.
