आज 15 अक्टूबर है और आज भारत में विश्व छात्र दिवस मनाया जा रहा है. यह दिवस भारत के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति और ‘मिसाइल मैन’ के नाम से मशहूर डॉ. एपीजे अब्दुल कलाम की जयंती के अवसर पर मनाया जाता है. यह दिवस छात्रों के प्रेरणा स्रोत और उनके विकास में महत्वपूर्ण योगदान के रूप में डॉ. कलाम को सम्मानित करता है.
वैसे तो आज के दिन मनाया जाने वाला दिवस विश्व छात्र दिवस सिर्फ भारत में ही मनाया जाता है आधिकारिक रूप से वैश्विक स्तर पर संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने अभी मंजूरी नहीं दी है. वहीं, अंतराष्ट्रीय छात्र दिवस हर वर्ष 17 नवंबर को मनाया जाता है.
डॉ. एपीजे अब्दुल कलाम का जन्म 15 अक्टूबर 1931 को रामेश्वरम, तमिलनाडु में हुआ था. उन्होंने अपनी प्रारंभिक शिक्षा रामनाथपुरम श्वार्ट्ज मैट्रिकुलेशन स्कूल में प्राप्त की और बाद में तिरुचिरापल्ली के सेंट जोसेफ कॉलेज से भौतिकी में स्नातक किया. इसके बाद उन्होंने मद्रास इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ टेक्नोलॉजी (MIT) से एयरोस्पेस इंजीनियरिंग में स्नातक की उपाधि प्राप्त की. डॉ. कलाम ने अपने कैरियर की शुरुआत रक्षा अनुसंधान और विकास संगठन (DRDO) में की और बाद में भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन (ISRO) में शामिल हुए.

Today, October 15, World Students’ Day is being celebrated in India. This day marks the birth anniversary of Dr. A.P.J. Dr. Kalam began his career at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and later joined the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
