ITU (International Telecommunication Union).

World Standards Day

World Standards Day is observed annually on October 14. The purpose of this day is to highlight the importance of standards in the global economy and to acknowledge the contributions of experts and organizations working on standardization across various sectors.
World Standards Day was first celebrated in 1970. It was initiated to honor the thousands of experts who voluntarily contributed to the development of global standards through various standardization organizations.
World Standards Day also recognizes the contributions of organizations that help develop international standards, such as the ISO (International Organization for Standardization), IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), and ITU (International Telecommunication Union).
Each year, World Standards Day is celebrated under a specific theme that highlights key areas related to standards for that year. These themes are selected with modern challenges in mind, such as technological innovation, safety, environmental protection, and social responsibility. The theme for 2026 is “SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy.”
The objective of World Standards Day is to advance towards equitable global development, ensuring safe, high-quality products and services for everyone.
