- पेंटोनविली कैदखाने में फाँसी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1909 में मदन लाल ढींगरा को वायली और लालकाका की हत्या मामले में पेंटोनविली कैदखाने में फाँसी दी गयी थी.
- साहित्यकार अमृतलाल नागर:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1916 में साहित्यकार अमृतलाल नागर का जन्म गोकुलपुरा, आगरा, उत्तर प्रदेश के गुजराती परिवार में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम पण्डित राजाराम नागर है.अमृतलाल नागर की विधिवत् शिक्षा अर्थोपार्जन की विवशता के कारण हाईस्कूल तक ही हुई, किन्तु निरन्तर स्वाध्याय द्वारा उन्होंने साहित्य, इतिहास, पुराण, पुरातत्व, समाजशास्त्र, मनोविज्ञान आदि विषयों पर तथा हिन्दी, गुजराती, मराठी, बांग्ला एवं अंग्रेज़ी आदि भाषाओं पर अधिकार प्राप्त किया. अमृतलाल ने छोटी सी नौकरी के बाद कुछ समय तक मुक्त लेखन एवं हास्यरस के प्रसिद्ध पत्र ‘चकल्लस’ का सम्पादन वर्ष 1947 तक किया. उन्होंने बम्बई एवं मद्रास के फ़िल्म क्षेत्र में लेखन का भी कार्य किया. अमृतलाल नागर हिन्दी के गम्भीर कथाकारों में सर्वाधिक लोकप्रिय हैं. उन्होंने अपने लेखन में ‘न तो परम्परा को ही नकारा है, न आधुनिकता से मुंह मोड़ा है’. उन्होंने बूँद और समुद्र’ तथा ‘अमृत और विष’ जैसे वर्तमान जीवन पर लिखित उपन्यासों में ही नहीं, ‘एकदा नैमिषारण्ये’ तथा ‘मानस का हंस’ जैसे पौराणिक-ऐतिहासिक पीठिका पर रचित सांस्कृतिक उपन्यासों में भी उत्पीड़कों का पर्दाफ़ाश करने और उत्पीड़ितों का साथ देने का अपना व्रत उन्होंने बखूबी निभाया है.
- अंग्रेज़ी साहित्यकार वी.एस. नायपॉल:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1932 में अंग्रेज़ी साहित्यकार वी.एस. नायपॉल का जन्म ट्रिनिडाड के चगवानस में हुआ था. नायपॉल त्रिनिडाड में पले-बढ़े नायपॉल ने ऑक्सफोर्ड विश्वविद्याल से पढ़ाई की थी. नायपॉल को वर्ष 1971 में उपन्यास इन “अ फ़्री स्टेट” के लिए बुकर पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया था. नायपॉल को वर्ष 1990 में ब्रिटेन में नाइठुड और 2001 में साहित्य में नोबेल पुरस्कार से भी सम्मानित किया गया था.
- भारतीय रिज़र्व बैंक के बीसवें गवर्नर बिमल जालान:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1941 में भारतीय रिज़र्व बैंक के बीसवें गवर्नर बिमल जालान का जन्म राजस्थान के सादुलपुर में हुआ था. इनका कार्यकाल 22 नवंबर, 1997 से 6 सितंबर, 2003 तक था. उन्होंने प्रेसीडेंसी कॉलेज कलकत्ता व कैंब्रिज तथा ऑक्सफ़ोर्ड से अपनी पढाई पूरी की थी. जालान वर्ष 1980 में भारत सरकार के प्रमुख सलाहकार रहे. उसके बाद 1985-89 तक बैंकिंग सचिव के रूप में भी कार्य किया. जालान दो बार भारतीय रिज़र्व बैंक के गवर्नर नियुक्त भी किये गये थे.
- भारतीय रिज़र्व बैंक के इक्कीसवें गवर्नर वॉय. वी. रेड्डी:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1941 में भारतीय रिज़र्व बैंक के इक्कीसवें गवर्नर वॉय. वी. रेड्डी का जन्म हुआ था. इनका कार्यकाल 6 सितंबर, 2003 से 5 सितंबर, 2008 तक था.
- पहली ब्रिटिश सैन्य टुकडी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1947 में भारत की आज़ादी के बाद पहली ब्रिटिश सैन्य टुकडी स्वदेश रवाना हुई थी.
- रेडक्लिफ सीमा रेखा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1947 में भारत और पाकिस्तान को बांटने वाली रेड क्लिफ सीमा रेखा की घोषणा हुई थी. इस रेखा का नाम ब्रिटिश आर्किटेक्ट सर सिरिल रेड क्लिफ के नाम पर रखा गया था. यह रेखा भारत और पाकिस्तान एवं भारत और बांग्लादेश को अलग करती है. इस रेखा के निर्धारण के समय पूर्वी पाकिस्तान के नाम से जाना जाता है. बांग्लादेश के स्वतंत्र होने के बाद रेड क्लिफ रेखा भारत और बांग्लादेश के बीच की सीमा बन गई थी.
- क्रांतिकारी पुलिन बिहारी दास:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1949 में क्रांतिकारी पुलिन बिहारी दास का निधन कोलकाता में हुआ था.
- भारतीय पुरातत्त्व सर्वेक्षण विभाग के महानिदेशक जॉन मार्शल:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1958 में भारतीय पुरातत्त्व सर्वेक्षण विभाग के महानिदेशक जॉन मार्शल का निधन हुआ था.
- कवयित्री अनामिका:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1961 में कवयित्री अनामिका का जन्म मुजफ्फरपुर (बिहार) में हुआ था. उन्होंने दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय से अँग्रेजी साहित्य में एम॰ए॰ व पी॰एचडी॰ की थी. आधुनिक समय में हिन्दी भाषा की प्रमुख कहानीकार और उपन्यासकार हैं अनामिका. उन्हें हिंदी कविता में अपने विशिष्ट योगदान के कारण राजभाषा परिषद् पुरस्कार, साहित्य सम्मान, भारतभूषण अग्रवाल एवं केदार सम्मान पुरस्कारों से सम्मानित किया गया है.
- अभिनेत्री सुप्रिया पिलगांवकर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1967 में अभिनेत्री सुप्रिया पिलगांवकर का जन्म मुम्बई में हुआ था. सुप्रिया मराठी अभिनेता सचिन पिलगांवकर की पत्नी है.

- Hanging in Pentonvili Jail: – On this day in the year 1909, Madan Lal Dhingra was hanged in Pentonvili Jail for the murder of Vayli and Lalkaka.
- Writer Amritlal Nagar:- On this day in the year 1916, writer Amritlal Nagar was born in a Gujarati family in Gokulpura, Agra, Uttar Pradesh. His father’s name is Pandit Rajaram Nagar. Amritlal Nagar’s formal education was done till high school only due to the compulsion of earning money, but by continuous self-study, he studied literature, history, mythology, archeology, sociology, psychology, etc., and Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Took authority over languages like Bangla and English.
