महाराणा प्रताप सिंह…
महाराणा प्रताप सिंह का जन्म ‘आज’ ही के दिन वर्ष 1540 को कुम्भलगढ़ (राजस्थान) में महाराणा उदयसिंह एवं माता राणी जयवंत कँवर के घर हुआ था. उन्हें बचपन में कीका नाम से पुकारा जाता था.
महाराणा प्रताप सिंह उदयपुर, मेवाड में सिसोदिया राजपूत राजवंश के राजा थे. उनका नाम इतिहास में वीरता और दृढ प्रण के लिये अमर है.उन्होंने कई सालों तक मुगल सम्राट अकबर के साथ युद्ध किया और हराया. महाराणा प्रताप के शासनकाल में सबसे ख़ास बात यह है कि, मुगल सम्राट अकबर बिना युद्ध के प्रताप को अपने अधीन लाना चाहता था इसलिए अकबर ने प्रताप को समझाने के लिए चार राजदूत नियुक्त कर उन्हें समझाने के लिए भेजा. लेकिन प्रताप सिंह नहीं माने, उसके बाद ही हल्दी घाटी का युद्ध हुआ.
गोपाल कृष्ण गोखले…
गोपाल कृष्ण गोखले का जन्म ‘आज’ ही के दिन वर्ष 1866 ‘आज’ ही के दिन कोल्हापुर (महाराष्ट्र) में हुआ था. इनके पिता कृष्णराव श्रीधर गोखले एक ग़रीब किंतु स्वाभिमानी ब्राह्मण थे. पिता के असामयिक निधन ने गोपाल कृष्ण को बचपन से ही सहिष्णु और कर्मठ बना दिया था.
गोखले का राजनीति में पहली बार प्रवेश वर्ष 1888 ई. में इलाहाबाद में हुए कांग्रेस के अधिवेशन में हुआ. वर्ष 1902 ई. में गोखले को ‘इम्पीरियल लेजिस्लेटिव काउन्सिल’ का सदस्य चुना गया. उन्होंने नमक कर, अनिवार्य प्राथमिक शिक्षा एवं सरकारी नौकरियों में भारतीयों को अधिक स्थान देने के मुद्दे को काउन्सिल में उठाया.
महादेव गोविंद रानाडे के शिष्य गोपाल कृष्ण गोखले को वित्तीय मामलों की अद्वितीय समझ और उस पर अधिकारपूर्वक बहस करने की क्षमता से उन्हें भारत का ‘ग्लेडस्टोन’ भी कहा जाता है.

कवयित्री स्नेहमयी चौधरी का जन्म ‘आज’ ही के दिन वर्ष 1935 में उत्तर प्रदेश के उन्नाव ज़िले के मौरावां में हुआ था.स्नेहमयी दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय के कॉलेज में हिन्दी शिक्षिका थीं और उनका विवाह प्रसिद्ध लेखक हरिवंश राय बच्चन के साथी अजित कुमार के साथ हुआ था.
स्नेहमयी को कविता संग्रहों के लिए जाना जाता है. उनकी प्रसिद्ध कविता में पूरा गलत पाठ, चौतरफा लड़ाई और हड़कंप प्रमुख है.

Maharana Pratap Singh was the king of the Sisodia Rajput dynasty in Udaipur, Mewar. His name is immortal in history for his bravery and determination. He fought and defeated the Mughal emperor Akbar for many years. The most important thing during the reign of Maharana Pratap is that Mughal Emperor Akbar wanted to bring Pratap under his control without war, so Akbar appointed four ambassadors to convince Pratap and sent them to explain. But Pratap Singh did not agree, only after that the battle of Haldi Valley took place.
