National Youth Day is celebrated every year on 12 January in India. The day is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, an important young leader of the Indian freedom struggle. Swami Vivekananda inspired the youth to recognize their strengths and direct them in a new direction.
The objective of National Youth Day is to make Indian youth understand the importance of their role as aware and capable citizens in society. Various activities such as celebrations, seminars, demonstrations, and youth groups are organised on this day to create awareness among the youth about their rights and duties.
This day provides an important platform for the social, political, and economic upliftment of the Indian youth which they can use to prove themselves as better and capable citizens. Remembering the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, the youth get an opportunity to get inspired to fulfill their dreams.
