International Dance Day is celebrated every year on 29 April. This day is dedicated to the art of dance and is celebrated to promote the importance of choreography and dancers across the world. This day was started in 1982 by the International Theater Institute (ITI), which is a part of UNESCO. The reason for choosing this date is that it is the birth anniversary of Jean-Georges Noverre, considered the father of modern ballet.
The purpose of this day is to promote cultural diversity and inclusivity through dance. Dance festivals, performances, workshops, and special events are held around the world in which people can experience a variety of dance styles and understand the importance of dance.
