कार्तिक मास के कृष्ण पक्ष की त्रयोदशी तिथि को धनतेरस का पर्व मनाया जाता है। इस बार यह शुभ तिथि 10 अक्टूबर दिन शुक्रवार को है। शास्त्रों के अनुसार, इस तिथि को समुद्र मंथन के समय भगवान धन्वंतरि अमृत कलश लेकर प्रकट हुए थे, इस वजह से इस तिथि को धनतेरस या धनत्रयोदशी तिथि के नाम से ही जाना जाता है। भगवान धन्वंतरि के अलावा इस दिन माता लक्ष्मी, धन के देवता कुबेर और मृत्यु के देवता यमराज की भी पूजा की जाती है। इस दिन दीपावली का पर्व शुरू हो जाता है और इस दिन सोना-चांदी या नए बर्तन खरीदना बहुत शुभ माना जाता है। आइए जानते हैं धनतेरस क्यों मनाया जाता है और इसकी कहानी क्या है। चिकित्सा विज्ञान का किया था प्रचार भारतीय संस्कृति में स्वास्थ्य को ही सबसे बड़ा धन माना गया है और इस दिन को राष्ट्रीय आयुर्वेद दिवस के रूप में भी मनाया जाता है। मान्यता है कि भगवान धन्वंतरि को भगवान विष्णु का अंश माना जाता है और इन्होंने ही संसार में चिकित्सा विज्ञान का प्रचार और प्रसार किया। इस दिन घर के द्वार पर तेरस दीपक जलाए जाने की प्रथा है। धनतेरस दो शब्दों से मिलकर बना है – पहला धन और दूसरा तेरस जिसका अर्थ होता है धन का तेरह गुना। भगवान धन्वंतरि के प्रकट होने के कारण इस दिन को वैद्य समाज धन्वंतरि जयंती के रूप में मनाता है।शास्त्रों में वर्णित कथाओं के अनुसार, समुद्र मंथन के दौरान भगवान धन्वंतरि हाथों में अमृत कलश लेकर प्रकट हुए थे। जिस तिथि को भगवान धन्वंतरि समुद्र से निकले, वह कार्तिक मास के कृष्ण पक्ष की त्रयोदशी तिथि थी। भगवान धन्वंतरि समुद्र से कलश लेकर प्रकट हुए थे इसलिए इस अवसर पर बर्तन खरीदने की परंपरा चली आ रही है। भगवान धन्वंतरि को विष्णु भगवान का अंश माना जाता है और इन्होंने ही पूरी दुनिया में चिकित्सा विज्ञान का प्रचार और प्रसार किया। भगवान धन्वंतरि के बाद माता लक्ष्मी दो दिन बाद समुद्र से निकली थीं इसलिए उस दिन दीपावली का पर्व मनाया जाता है। इनकी पूजा-अर्चना करने से आरोग्य सुख की प्राप्ति होती है.

The festival of Dhanteras is celebrated on the Trayodashi date of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month. This time this auspicious date is on Friday, 10th October. According to the scriptures, on this date, during the churning of the ocean, Lord Dhanvantari appeared with the nectar pot, hence this date is known as the Dhanteras or Dhantrayodashi date. Apart from Lord Dhanvantari, Goddess Lakshmi, Lord of wealth Kuber and Lord of death Yamraj are also worshipped on this day. The festival of Diwali begins on this day and buying gold, silver or new utensils on this day is considered very auspicious. Let us know why Dhanteras is celebrated and what is its story. Medical science was promoted. In Indian culture, health is considered the greatest wealth and this day is also celebrated as National Ayurveda Day. It is believed that Lord Dhanvantari is considered to be a part of Lord Vishnu and it is he who propagated and spread medical science in the world. On this day, there is a tradition of lighting three lamps at the entrance of the house. Dhanteras is made up of two words – first Dhan and second Teras which means thirteen times the wealth. Due to the appearance of Lord Dhanvantari, the Vaidya community celebrates this day as Dhanvantari Jayanti. According to the stories described in the scriptures, during the churning of the ocean, Lord Dhanvantari appeared with the nectar pot in his hands. The date on which Lord Dhanvantari emerged from the sea was Trayodashi tithi of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month. Lord Dhanvantari appeared from the sea with an urn, hence the tradition of buying utensils on this occasion continues. Lord Dhanvantari is considered to be a part of Lord Vishnu and it was he who propagated and spread medical science all over the world. After Lord Dhanvantari, Goddess Lakshmi emerged from the sea two days later, hence the festival of Diwali is celebrated on that day. By worshipping them one attains health and happiness.
