एक छोटे से गाँव में, राम और श्याम नाम के दो मित्र रहते थे. दोनों बचपन से ही साथ पले-बढ़े थे और उनकी दोस्ती पूरे गाँव के लिए मिसाल थी. राम बहुत ही शांत और समझदार था, जबकि श्याम थोड़ा चंचल और जल्दबाज़. दोनों की आदतें और स्वभाव अलग थे, लेकिन उनकी दोस्ती में कोई कमी नहीं थी.
एक दिन गाँव में एक बड़ा मेला लगा. मेले में दूर-दूर से लोग आए हुए थे. राम और श्याम भी मेले में घूमने गए. मेले में तरह-तरह के खिलौने, मिठाइयाँ और खेल-तमाशे थे. श्याम बहुत उत्साहित था और हर चीज़ को छूने, खरीदने और आज़माने के लिए बेताब हो रहा था. वहीं राम शांत और संयमित था, वह चीज़ों को ध्यान से देख रहा था और सोच-समझकर ही कुछ खरीद रहा था.
थोड़ी देर बाद, श्याम ने एक दुकान पर एक सुंदर सा घड़ा देखा। घड़ा बहुत ही आकर्षक था, लेकिन उसकी कीमत बहुत ज़्यादा थी. श्याम के पास इतने पैसे नहीं थे, लेकिन उसने घड़ा खरीदने की ज़िद कर ली. राम ने उसे समझाने की कोशिश की, “श्याम, यह घड़ा बहुत महंगा है. हमारे पास इतने पैसे नहीं हैं. चलो, किसी और चीज़ को देखते हैं.”
लेकिन श्याम नहीं माना और उसने चुपके से घड़ा उठाया और भागने की कोशिश की लेकिन, दुकानदार ने उसे देख लिया और पकड़ लिया. श्याम को बहुत शर्मिंदगी महसूस हुई. राम ने दुकानदार से माफ़ी माँगी और श्याम को समझाया कि चोरी करना गलत है. श्याम को अपनी गलती का एहसास हुआ और उसने दुकानदार से माफ़ी माँगी.
इस घटना के बाद, श्याम ने सोचा कि उसका आचरण गलत था. उसने राम से कहा, “तुम हमेशा सही काम करते हो और मैं गलत. मैं तुम्हारे जैसा बनना चाहता हूँ.” राम ने मुस्कुराते हुए कहा, “श्याम, आचरण ही हमारी पहचान होता है. अगर हम अच्छा आचरण रखेंगे, तो लोग हमें सम्मान देंगे. गलतियाँ सबसे होती हैं, लेकिन उनसे सीख लेना ज़रूरी है.”
श्याम ने राम की बात मान ली और उस दिन से उसने अपने आचरण को सुधारने का प्रण लिया. धीरे-धीरे श्याम भी राम की तरह समझदार और संयमित हो गया. दोनों की दोस्ती और भी मजबूत हो गई और वे गाँव के लिए एक मिसाल बन गए.
इस कहानी से हमें यह सीख मिलती है कि आचरण ही हमारी पहचान होता है. अच्छा आचरण हमें सम्मान और प्रेम दिलाता है, जबकि गलत आचरण हमें शर्मिंदगी और नुकसान पहुँचा सकता है. हमें हमेशा अच्छे आचरण का पालन करना चाहिए और गलतियों से सीख लेनी चाहिए.

Behaviour…
In a small village, there lived two friends named Ram and Shyam. Both had grown up together since childhood and their friendship was an example for the whole village. Ram was very calm and sensible, while Shyam was a little playful and hasty. Both had different habits and natures, but there was no lack in their friendship.
One day a big fair was held in the village. People from far and wide had come to the fair. Ram and Shyam also went to visit the fair. There were various types of toys, sweets and games at the fair. Shyam was very excited and was desperate to touch, buy and try everything. Ram, on the other hand, was calm and composed, he was looking at things carefully and was buying something only after thinking.
After a while, Shyam saw a beautiful pitcher in a shop. The pitcher was very attractive, but its price was very high. Shyam did not have that much money, but he insisted on buying the pitcher. Ram tried to explain to him, “Shyam, this pot is very expensive. We don’t have that much money. Let’s look for something else.” But Shyam did not listen and he secretly picked up the pot and tried to run away but the shopkeeper saw him and caught him. Shyam felt very embarrassed. Ram apologized to the shopkeeper and explained to Shyam that stealing is wrong. Shyam realized his mistake and apologized to the shopkeeper. After this incident, Shyam thought that his conduct was wrong. He said to Ram, “You always do the right thing and I do the wrong thing. I want to be like you.” Ram smiled and said, “Shyam, conduct is our identity. If we keep good conduct, people will respect us. Everyone makes mistakes, but it is important to learn from them.” Shyam accepted Ram’s words and from that day he vowed to improve his conduct. Gradually Shyam also became wise and restrained like Ram. Their friendship grew stronger and they became an example for the village.
From this story, we learn that our conduct is our identity. Good conduct brings us respect and love, while bad conduct can bring us shame and harm. We should always follow good conduct and learn from our mistakes.
