अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मजदूर दिवस पर श्रमिकों की दशा, दिशा और महत्व विषय पर केकेएम कॉलेज के स्नातकोत्तर अर्थशास्त्र विभाग के विभागाध्यक्ष डॉ. (प्रो.) गौरी शंकर पासवान ने मजदूरों की दशा पर चिंता जताते हुए कहा कि सृष्टि की रचना से लेकर आज की विकसित सभ्यता तक श्रमिकों के अथक श्रम का ही प्रतिफल है. पाषाण युग से वर्तमान वैज्ञानिक काल में श्रम और श्रमिकों के बदौलत ही मनुष्य अथवा देश-दुनिया अंतरिक्ष और चांद पर पहुंचा है, और तो और हमारा देश भारत मंगल पर पहुंचने का भागीरथ प्रयत्न कर रहा है. एक ना एक दिन सफलता अवश्य कदम चूमेगी. आज भारत आर्थिक और सैन्य महाशक्ति बनने की ओर तेजी से अग्रसर है, तो इसके पीछे भी श्रमिकों और उनके मेहनत का ही कमाल है. उन्होंने कहा कि ‘हम मजदूर हमें देवों की बस्ती से क्या, कितनी बार धरा पर हमने स्वर्ग बनाए’ ये बातें कहने वाला कोई महामानव नहीं, बल्कि भारत का मजदूर ही है, जो बिंदास अपने काम में अस्त व्यस्त रहता है. समुद्र की छाती चीरकर बनने वाले बांध व सेतु हो अथवा पहाड़ों को बेधकर बनाए गए सड़क, गगनचुंबी अटालिकाएं हो या अजंता एलोरा की गुफाएं, इन सभी के निर्माण में मजदूरों की अथक परिश्रम छुपी है. आज अमेरिका, जापान, फ्रांस, जर्मनी जैसे विकसित राष्ट्रों की महानता वहां के परिश्रमी नागरिकों और श्रमिकों के कारण ही बनी हुई हैं. ये जरूरी नहीं कि शारीरिक कार्य करने में ही परिश्रम होता है. बल्कि इंजीनियर, दार्शनिक, राजनीतिज्ञ, चिकित्सक, प्रोफेसर, वैज्ञानिक, ये सभी परिश्रम करते हैं. ये लोग परिश्रम शारीरिक रूप से नहीं, बल्कि मानसिक रूप से करते हैं. निर्धनता, भुखमरी, कष्ट, मजबूरी, शोषण और कड़ी मेहनत इन सभी को मिला दें तो, भारतीय मजदूरों की वास्तविक तस्वीर हमारे सामने आ जाती है, जो उनकी आर्थिक बदहाली को दर्शाता है.
प्रो.पासवान ने कहा कि भारत में मजदूरों की दयनीय दशा को सुधारने और सही दिशा दिखाने को लेकर देश में 50,000 से अधिक श्रमिक संगठन हैं. बताते चलें कि, सर्वप्रथम मुंबई में वर्ष 1875 में श्रमिकों की दुर्दशा के विरोध में आंदोलन शुरू किया गया था. उसके बाद वर्ष 1890 ई. में एनएम लोखंडे ने मुंबई मिल मजदूर संघ की स्थापना करके श्रमिक संघ आंदोलन का श्रीगणेश किया था. ज्ञात है कि, श्रमिकों के हित में वर्ष 1920 में ऑल इंडिया ट्रेड यूनियन कांग्रेस की स्थापना हुई. उसके बाद वर्ष 1926 में भारतीय श्रमिक संघ अधिनियम पारित हुआ. उसके बावजूद आज उनकी दशा और दिशा दयनीय तथा शोचनीय है. श्रमिकों को और संगठित व जागरूक होने की आवश्यकता है. तभी उनकी, आर्थिक स्थिति और माली हालत सुधरेगी साथ ही उनका जीवन-स्तर और ऊंचा होगा. उनके जीवन में भी सुख, शांति, समृद्धि और खुशहाली आएगी.

Expressing concern over the condition of the laborers, Dr. (Prof.) Gauri Shankar Paswan, Head of Department, Department of Post Graduate Economics, KKM College, on International Labor Day, said that from the creation of the universe to today’s developed civilization It is the result of the tireless labor of the workers. From the stone age to the present scientific period, due to the labor and workers, man or the country-world has reached space and the moon, moreover, our country India is trying hard to reach Mars. One day or the other success will definitely kiss your feet. Today, India is fast moving towards becoming an economic and military superpower, so behind this is the wonder of the workers and their hard work. He said that it is not a great human being who says these things, ‘we laborers, we have been made heaven from the abode of gods, how many times on earth’, but it is the laborer of India, who remains busy in his work. Be it the dams and bridges built by tearing the chest of the sea or the roads made by piercing the mountains, skyscrapers, or the caves of Ajanta Ellora, the untiring labor of the laborers is hidden in the construction of all these. Today, the greatness of developed nations like America, Japan, France, and Germany is due to the hardworking citizens and workers there. It is not necessary that hard work is done only by doing physical work. Rather engineers, philosophers, politicians, doctors, professors, and scientists, all work hard. These people work hard not physically, but mentally. If poverty, hunger, suffering, compulsion, exploitation, and hard work combine all these, then the real picture of Indian laborers comes in front of us, which shows their economic plight.
Prof. Paswan said that there are more than 50,000 labor organizations in the country to improve the pathetic condition of laborers in India and to show them the right direction. Let us tell you that, for the first time in the year 1875, the movement was started in Mumbai to protest against the plight of the workers. After that, in the year 1890 AD, NM Lokhande started the trade union movement by establishing the Mumbai Mill Mazdoor Sangh. It is known that the All India Trade Union Congress was established in the year 1920 in the interest of the workers. After that in the year 1926, the Indian Trade Union Act was passed. Despite that, today their condition and direction are pathetic and lamentable. Workers need to be more organized and aware. Only then their economic condition and financial condition will improve as well as their standard of living will be higher. There will be happiness, peace, prosperity, and happiness in their lives too.
