सत्संग के दौरान वाल्व्यास सुमन जी महाराज ने कहा कि, भगवान श्यामसुंदर ने जिस रात्री को रास रचाया था वो रात्री शरद पूर्णिमा की रात्री थी. महाराज जी कहते हैं कि यह बड़ी ही पवित्र और अनोखी रात्री है. कहा जाता है कि, शरद पूर्णिमा की रात्री को माता लक्ष्मी रात्री विचरण करती है और साधकों को समृद्धि प्रदान करती है. महाराज जी कहते हैं कि आश्विन महीने की पूर्णिमा को ही शरद पूर्णिमा, रास पूर्णिमा या कोजागरी (कौमुदी व्रत) पूर्णिमा के नाम से जाना जाता है. ज्योतिषों के अनुसार, पुरे साल में सिर्फ शरद पूर्णिमा की रात्री को चन्द्रमा सोलह कलाओं से परिपूर्ण होता है. कहा जाता है कि, शरद पूर्णिमा की रात्री को चन्द्रमा की किरणों से अमृत गिरता है, इसीलिए उत्तर भारत में खीर बनाकर रात भर चाँदनी में रखने की परम्परा है. पौराणिक ग्रंथों के अनुसार, लंकापति रावण शरद पूर्णिमा की रात्री को दर्पण के माध्यम से अपनी नाभि पर पूर्णिमा की शीतल किरणों को ग्रहण करता था, जिससे उसे पुनर्योवन की शक्ति प्राप्त होती थी.
विधि:-
महाराज जी कहते हैं कि इस दिन व्रत रख कर विधि-विधान से लक्ष्मी-नारायण का पूजा करनी चाहिए और खीर बनाकर रात में खुले आसमान के नीचे ऐसे रखें, ताकि चन्द्रमा की रोशनी खीर पर पड़े. अगले दिन स्नान करके भगवान को खीर का भोग लगाएं, और तीन ब्राह्मणों या कन्याओं को प्रसाद रूप में इस खीर को दें, साथ ही अपने परिवार में भी खीर का प्रसाद बांटे. इस खीर को खाने से अनेक प्रकार के रोगों से छुटकारा मिलता है.
कथा:-
एक नगर में साहूकार की दो बेटियाँ थी. दोनों बेटियाँ पूर्णिमा का व्रत रखती थी, लेकिन बड़ी बेटी व्रत को पूरा करती थी परन्तु छोटी बेटी व्रत अधुरा ही छोड़ देती थी. समय होने पर साहूकार ने दोनों बेटियों की शादी-व्याह कर दिया. कुछ समय पश्चात छोटी बेटी की सन्तान पैदा होते ही मर जाती थी. एक दिन छोटी बेटी ने पंडितो से पूछा तो, इसका कारण उन्होने बताया की तुम पूर्णिमा का अधूरा व्रत करती थी जिसके कारण तुम्हारी सन्तान पैदा होते ही मर जाती है. इसीलिए पूर्णिमा का पुरा विधिपुर्वक करने से तुम्हारी सन्तान जीवित रह सकती है.
पंडितों की सलाह पर उसने पूर्णिमा का पूरा व्रत विधिपूर्वक किया, लेकिन उसे एक लड़का हुआ, परन्तु शीघ्र ही मर गया. अब उसने लडके को पीढे पर लिटाकर ऊपर से कपड़े से ढक दिया और अपनी बड़ी बहन को बुलाकर बैठने के लिए वही पीढा दे दिया. बडी बहन जब पीढे पर बैठने लगी जो उसका घाघरा बच्चे का छू गया और बच्चा रोने लगा. इस पर बड़ी बहन बोली – तू मुझ पर कलंक लगाना चाहती थी, इस पर छोटी बहन बोली कि, ये तो पहले से ही मरा हुआ था, लेकिन तेरे भाग्य से यह जीवित हो गया है. उसके बाद उसने पुर नगर में पूर्णिमा का पूरा व्रत करने का ढिंढोरा पिटवा दिया.

Sharad Purnima…
During the Satsang, Walwyas Suman ji Maharaj said that the night on which Lord Shyam-sundar composed the Raas was the night of Sharad Purnima. Maharaj ji says that this is a very holy and unique night. It is said that on the night of Sharad Purnima, Goddess Lakshmi roams around and bestows prosperity on the devotees. Maharaj ji says that the full moon of Ashwin month is known as Sharad Purnima, Raas Purnima or Kojagari (Kaumudi Vrat) Purnima. According to astrologers, in the whole year only on the night of Sharad Purnima the moon is full of sixteen arts. It is said that on the night of Sharad Purnima, nectar falls from the rays of the moon that is why in North India there is a tradition of making kheer and keeping it in moonlight throughout the night. According to mythological texts, Ravana, the king of Lanka, used to receive the cool rays of the full moon on his navel through a mirror on the night of Sharad Purnima, which gave him the power of rejuvenation.
Method:-
Maharaj ji says that one should keep a fast on this day and worship Lakshmi-narayan as per the rituals and prepare kheer and keep it under the open sky at night in such a way that the light of the moon falls on the kheer. The next day, after taking bath, offer Kheer to the Lord, and give this Kheer as Prasad to three Brahmins or girls, and also distribute the Kheer Prasad among your family. Eating this kheer provides relief from many types of diseases.
Story:-
In a city a moneylender had two daughters. Both the daughters used to keep fast on Purnima, but the elder daughter used to complete the fast but the younger daughter used to leave the fast incomplete. When the time came, the moneylender got both his daughters married. After some time, the younger daughter’s child would die as soon as it was born. One day when the younger daughter asked the Pandits, the reason for this was that you used to observe incomplete fast on the full moon day due to which your child dies as soon as it is born. That’s why if you celebrate Purnima properly, your children can stay alive.
On the advice of the pundits, she observed the full fast of Purnima as per the rituals, but gave birth to a boy, but he soon died. Now she made the boy lie down on her lap and covered it with a cloth and called her elder sister and gave her the same seat to sit on. When the elder sister started sitting on the lap, her skirt touched the child’s and the child started crying. On this the elder sister said – You wanted to defame me, on this the younger sister said that he was already dead, but due to your luck he has become alive. After that he made a big noise in Pur Nagar to observe the full fast of Purnima.
