1. गद्दी पर आसीन हुआ:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1246 में नसिरुद्दीन मुहम्मद शाह दिल्ली की गद्दी पर आसीन हुआ था. इससे पहले दिल्ली के सुलतान अलाउद्दीन मसूद शाह को निर्वासित कर दिया गया था.
2. फोर्ट विलियम कॉलेज:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1800 में ब्रिटिश सरकार ने भारत में फोर्ट विलियम कॉलेज की स्थापना हुई थी. फोर्ट विलियम कॉलेज की स्‍थापना टीपू सुल्तान पर ब्रिटेन की निर्णायक विजय की याद में 10 जुलाई को ‘मार्केस ऑफ वेलेजली’ ने 1800 ईस्वी में कोलकाता में की थी और गिलक्राइस्ट उसके हिन्दुस्तानी विभाग के अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किये गये. यह कॉलेज ब्रिटेन के युवा सिविल अधिकारियों के सामान्‍य शिक्षण और प्रशिक्षण का केंद्र था. इस कॉलेज में सेना के कनिष्ठ अधिकारियों को भी प्रवेश की अनुमति थी, आगे चलकर यह कॉलेज प्राचीन कालीन अध्‍ययन कार्यों का एक महत्‍वपूर्ण केंद्र बन गया, जहां भारतीय और ब्रिटिश विद्वान् विभिन्‍न भारतीय भाषाओं के आधुनिकीकरण के लिए विभिन्‍न भाषायी शोध योजनाओं पर मिलकर काम करते थे.
3. बेल्लोर विद्रोह:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1806 में मद्रास राज्य के वेल्लोर शहर में ईस्ट इंडिया कम्पनी के खिलाफ भारतीय सिपाहियों का बड़े पैमाने पर और हिंसक विद्रोह हुआ था. इस विद्रोह के दौरान विद्रोहियों ने वेल्लोर किले को जब्त कर 200 ब्रिटिश सैनिकों को मार डाला गया था.
4. बलराज भल्ला:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1888 में तथा महात्मा हंसराज के पुत्र बलराज भल्ला का जन्म पंजाब के गुजरांवाला ज़िले में हुआ था. इनके पिता का नाम महात्मा हंसराज थे जो ‘डी.ए.वी. कॉलेज’, लाहौर के प्रथम प्रधानाचार्य थे. बलराज भल्ला ने वर्ष 1911 ई. में एम. ए. की परीक्षा पास की थी, परंतु रासबिहारी बोस और खुदीराम बोस आदि के प्रभाव से वे छोटी उम्र में ही क्रांतिकारी आंदोलन में सम्मिलित हो गए थे. इस कारण उनकी विश्वविद्यालय की डिग्रियाँ वापस ले ली गईं थी. वाइसराय की गाड़ी पर बम फेंकने के अभियोग में वर्ष 1919 में बलराज भल्ला को तीन वर्ष की सज़ा हुई थी. वहीँ, दूसरे ‘लाहौर षड्यंत्र केस’ में भी उन पर मुकदमा चला था और कठोर करावास की सज़ा हुई थी. बलराज भल्ला भारत के ही प्रसिद्ध क्रांतिकारी लाला लाजपतराय के अनुयायी थे. जीवन के अंतिम दिनों में बलराज भल्ला का राजनीतिक हिंसा पर से विश्वास उठ गया था और वे राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गाँधी के अहिंसक मार्ग के अनुयायी बन गए थे.
5. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी दामोदर मेनन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1906 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी दामोदर मेनन का जन्म केरल के ‘करमलूर’ नामक स्थान पर हुआ था. मेनन ने ‘महाराजा कॉलेज’, त्रिवेंद्रम और ‘रंगून यूनिवर्सिटी’, बर्मा (वर्तमान म्यांमार) से शिक्षा पाई थी. इसके बाद इन्होंने त्रिवेंद्रम से क़ानून की भी डिग्री ली. पंडित जवाहर लाल नेहरू तथा महात्मा गाँधी का उनके जीवन पर व्यापक प्रभाव था. वर्ष 1957 में उन्हें केरल विधान सभा के सदस्य चुने गए थे.
6. कवि शिवदीन राम जोशी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1921 में कवि शिवदीन राम जोशी का जन्म राजस्थान के सीकर ज़िले में खंडेला नामक स्थान पर हुआ था. इनके पिता का नाम सूरजभान तथा माता का नाम लक्ष्मी था. शिवदीन राम जोशी ने अपनी अल्प अवस्था दस वर्ष की उम्र से ही लेखन कार्य शुरू कर दिया था जो जीवन पर्यंत चलता ही रहा. इनकी रचनाओं का मुख्य विषय ज्ञान, वैराग्य, प्रकृति चित्रण, प्रेम, हितोपदेश, भक्ति, भारतीय त्यौहार, देश चिंतन, पाखण्ड एवं समाज में व्याप्त कुरीतियों पर प्रहार आदि रहा है.
7. शायर असद भोपाली:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1921 में गीतकार और शायर असद भोपाली का जन्म भोपाल के इतवारा इलाके में पैदा हुए थे. उनका वास्तविक नाम असदुल्लाह ख़ान था. उनके पिता मुंशी अहमद खाँ भोपाल के आदरणीय व्यक्तियों में शुमार थे. वे एक शिक्षक थे और बच्चों को अरबी-फारसी पढ़ाया करते थे. पूर्व राष्ट्रपति शंकर दयाल शर्मा भी उनके शिष्यों में से एक थे. वो घर में ही बच्चों को पढ़ाया करते थे, इसीलिए असद भी अरबी-फारसी के साथ-साथ उर्दू में भी महारत हासिल कर पाए, जो उनकी शायरी और गीतों में हमेशा झलकती है. वर्ष 1990 में असद को उनके द्वारा फ़िल्म ‘मैंने प्यार किया’ के लिए लिखे गीत ‘कबूतर जा जा जा’ के लिए प्रतिष्ठित फ़िल्मफेयर पुरस्कार दिया गया था.
8. हरित क्रांति के नायक सर गंगा राम:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1924 में भारत में हरित क्रांति के नायक सर गंगा राम का निधन हुआ था.
9. समाज सेवी रजनीकांत अरोल:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1934 में समाज सेवी रजनीकांत अरोल का जन्म अहमदनगर ज़िला, महाराष्ट्र में हुआ था.
10. क्रिकेटर सुनील गावस्कर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1949 में क्रिकेटर सुनील गावस्कर का जन्म मुम्बई, महाराष्ट्र में हुआ था. इनका पूरा नाम सुनील मनोहर गावस्कर है. ‘सनी’ और ‘लिटिल मास्टर’ उनके निक नेम हैं. इनके पिता का नाम मनोहर गावस्कर तथा माता का नाम मीनल गावस्कर था. अपने पढाई के दिनों से ही सनी एक अच्छे क्रिकेटर के रूप में अपनी पहचान बना चुके थे. वर्ष 1966 में सुनील को भारत का ‘बेस्ट स्कूल ब्याव’ का पुरस्कार मिला था. सेकेण्डरी शिक्षा के अंतिम वर्ष में दो लगातार दोहरे शतक लगाकर उन्होंने सबका ध्यान आकर्षित किया. वर्ष 1966 में ही उन्होंने रणजी के मैंचो में अपना डेब्यू किया. कॉलेज में उनके खेल के लोग दीवाने हुआ करते थे. रणजी मैच में कर्नाटक के साथ खेलते हुए उन्होंने फिर से दोहरा शतक लगाया और चयनकर्ताओं को प्रभावित किया. वर्ष 1971 के टूर के लिए उन्हें वेस्टइंडीज दौरे के लिए टीम के लिए चुना गया था. सुनील गावस्कर को वर्ष 1975 में ‘अर्जुन पुरस्कार’ एवं वर्ष 1980 में ‘पद्म भूषण’ प्राप्त हुआ. इसके अतिरिक्त कई देशों में उन्हें सम्मानित किया जा चुका है. वर्ष 1980 में ही वे ‘विस्डेन’ भी प्राप्त कर चुके हैं.
11. शास्त्रीय गायिका परवीन सुल्ताना:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1950 में शास्त्रीय गायिका परवीन सुल्ताना का जन्म नोगोंग ग्राम, असम में हुआ था. इनके पिता का नाम ‘इकरामुल माजिद’ तथा माता का नाम ‘मारूफ़ा माजिद’ था. परवीन सुल्ताना ने सबसे पहले संगीत अपने दादा जी ‘मोहम्मद नजीफ़ ख़ाँ साहब’ तथा पिता इकरामुल से सीखना शुरू किया. पिता और दादाजी की छत्रछाया ने उनकी प्रतिभा को विकसित किया. परवीन सुल्ताना कोलकाता (भूतपूर्व कलकत्ता) में ‘स्वर्गीय पंडित चिनमोय लाहिरी’ के पास संगीत सीखने गयीं तथा वर्ष 1973 से वे ‘पटियाला घराने’ के ‘उस्ताद दिलशाद ख़ाँ साहब’ की शागिर्द बन गयीं. परवीन सुल्ताना की लगन और तालीम ने उन्हें ख़ूबसूरत आवाज़ और एक गरिमामय व्यक्तित्व का धनी बनाया था, इसीलिए उन्हें भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीत की रानी कहा जाता है. परवीन सुल्ताना ने फ़िल्म ‘पाकीज़ा’ से फ़िल्मों में गायन की शुरुआत की थी. सोलह वर्ष की उम्र में परवीन मुंबई आई थीं और यहीं पर इत्तफ़ाक से मशहूर संगीतकार नौशाद साहब ने उन्हें फ़िल्म ‘पाकीज़ा’ के पार्श्वगायन के लिए थोड़ा-सा गाने की गुजारिश की. फ़िल्म ‘कुदरत’ का गीत “हमें तुमसे प्यार कितना, ये हम नहीं जानते” (संगीत निर्देशक आर. डी. बर्मन) और फ़िल्म ‘पाकीज़ा’ का ‘कौन गली गयो श्याम’ सबसे अधिक पसंद किया गया था.
12. राजनीतिज्ञ राजनाथ सिंह:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1951में राजनीतिज्ञ राजनाथ सिंह का जन्म वाराणसी के चकिया तहसील में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम राम बदन सिंह और माता का नाम गुजराती देवी था. वर्ष 1964 में 13 वर्ष की अवस्था में ही वे राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ से जुड़े। व्याख्याता बनने के बाद भी संघ से उनका जुड़ाव बना रहा. भाजपा के दिग्गज नेता लालकृष्ण आडवाणी के बाद वर्ष 2005 में भाजपा की बागडोर संभालने वाले राजनाथ सिंह ने पार्टी को फिर से एकजुट किया और पार्टी की मूल विचारधारा हिंदुत्व पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया. उन्होंने कहा कि अयोध्या में राम मंदिर निर्माण में कोई समझौता नहीं होगा. पहली बार वर्ष 1977 में राजनाथ सिंह उत्तर प्रदेश से विधायक बने. उत्तर प्रदेश की सियासत में भले ही वे लंबी पारी खेल चुके हो लेकिन संसद में वे पहली बार वर्ष 1994 में पहुंचे जब उन्हें राज्यसभा टिकट मिला. 28 अक्तूबर, 2000 को वे राम प्रकाश गुप्त की जगह उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री बने. राजनाथ सिंह उत्तर प्रदेश के भूतपूर्व मुख्यमंत्री तथा भारत सरकार में गृहमंत्री रहे हैं. वह 17वीं लोकसभा के मोदी मंत्रीमण्डल में रक्षामंत्री नियुक्त हुए हैं.
13. बैडमिंटन खिलाड़ी प्रकाश पादुकोण:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1955 में बैडमिंटन खिलाड़ी प्रकाश पादुकोण का जन्म बंगलुरू, कर्नाटक में हुआ था. उन्होंने अन्तरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर भारत को बैडमिंटन क्षेत्र में पहचान दिलाई. वर्ष 1980 में विश्व रैंकिंग में एक नबंर पर रहे, जो वास्तव में गौरव की बात है. पादुकोण लगातार नौ वर्ष तक राष्ट्रीय चैंपियन रहे.
14. फ़िल्म अभिनेता आलोक नाथ:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1956 में अभिनेता आलोक नाथ का जन्म पटना बिहार में हुआ था. अलोक नाथ ने अपने कैरियर की शुरुआत वर्ष 1982 में फिल्म गाँधी से की थी. आलोक को नाथ सूरज बड़जात्या और राजश्री प्रोडक्शन की फिल्मों में अच्छे पिता का किरदार निभाने से हिंदी सिनेमा में बेहद प्रसिद्धि मिली.बड़े पर्दे पर ही नहीं छोटे पर्दे पर भी उन्होंने एक अच्छे पिता की भूमिका अदा की हैं , जिनमे सीरियल बाबुल की विदाई, यंहा मैं घर-घर खेली जैसे शो शामिल हैं. उन्हें हिंदी सिनेमा में ‘बाबूजी’ के नाम से भी जाना जाता हैं.

21. एथलीट देवेन्द्र झाझरिया:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1981 में एथलीट देवेन्द्र झाझरिया का जन्म राजस्थान के चुरू जिले के एक जाट परिवार में हुआ था. वर्ष 2004 पैरालंपिक एथेंस में उन्होंने पहला स्वर्ण पदक जीता था रियो डी जनेरियो, 2016 ग्रीष्मकालीन पैरालंपिक खेल में, उन्होंने अपने पहले रिकॉर्ड को बेहतर बनाते हुए, एक ही आयोजन में दूसरा स्वर्ण पदक जीता.

2. Fort William College: – On this day in the year 1800, the British Government established Fort William College in India. Fort William College was established in Calcutta in 1800 AD by ‘Marquess of Wellesley’ on 10th July in memory of the British’s decisive victory over Tipu Sultan and Gilchrist was appointed as the head of its Hindustani department. This college was the center of general education and training of young civil officers of Britain. 4. Balraj Bhalla:- On this day in the year 1888, Balraj Bhalla, son of Mahatma Hansraj, was born in Gujranwala district of Punjab. His father’s name was Mahatma Hansraj who was ‘D.A.V. College’, Lahore was the first Principal. Balraj Bhalla did his M.A. in the year 1911 AD. Had passed the examination, but due to the influence of Rasbihari Bose and Khudiram Bose, etc., he joined the revolutionary movement at a young age. For this reason, his university degrees were taken back. Balraj Bhalla was sentenced to three years in the year 1919 for throwing a bomb at the Viceroy’s car. At the same time, he was also tried in the second ‘Lahore Conspiracy Case’ and was sentenced to rigorous imprisonment. Balraj Bhalla was a follower of India’s famous revolutionary Lala Lajpat Rai. In the last days of his life, Balraj Bhalla lost his faith in political violence and became a follower of the non-violent path of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
5. Freedom fighter Damodar Menon:- On this day in the year 1906, freedom fighter Damodar Menon was born at a place called ‘Karmalur’ in Kerala. Menon was educated at ‘Maharaja College’, Trivandrum, and ‘Rangoon University’, Burma (present Myanmar). After this, he also took a law degree from Trivandrum. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi had a great impact on his life. In the year 1957, he was elected a member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly.
6. Poet Shivdin Ram Joshi:- On this day in the year 1921, poet Shivdin Ram Joshi was born at a place named Khandela in the Sikar district of Rajasthan. His father’s name was Surajbhan and his mother’s name was Lakshmi. Shivdin Ram Joshi started writing at the tender age of ten, which continued throughout his life. 7. Poet Asad Bhopali:- On this day in the year 1921, lyricist and poet Asad Bhopali was born in the Itwara area of Bhopal. His real name was Asadullah Khan. His father Munshi Ahmed Khan was one of the respected people of Bhopal. He was a teacher and used to teach Arabic-Persian to children. Former President Shankar Dayal Sharma was also one of his disciples. He used to teach children at home, which is why Asad was also able to master Arabic-Persian as well as Urdu, which is always reflected in his poetry and songs. 10. Cricketer Sunil Gavaskar:- On this day in the year 1949, cricketer Sunil Gavaskar was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra. His full name is Sunil Manohar Gavaskar. ‘Sunny’ and ‘Little Master’ are his nicknames. His father’s name was Manohar Gavaskar and his mother’s name was Meenal Gavaskar. Sunny had made his mark as a good cricketer since his studies. In the year 1966, Sunil received the ‘Best School Beav’ award of India. His father’s name was ‘Ikramul Majid’ and his mother’s name was ‘Marufa Majid’. Parveen Sultana first started learning music from her grandfather ‘Mohammed Nazif Khan Sahab’ and father Ikramul. The umbrella of father and grandfather developed his talent. Parveen Sultana went to Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) to learn music from ‘Late Pandit Chinmoy Lahiri’ and from the year 1973 she became a disciple of ‘Ustad Dilshad Khan Sahab’ of ‘Patiala Gharana’. Parveen Sultana’s dedication and training made her a beautiful voice and a dignified personality, that’s why she is called the queen of Indian classical music.
