1. हैदर अली और ब्रिटिश सेना के बीच युद्ध:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1781 में मैसूर के सुल्तान हैदर अली और अंग्रेज सेना के बीच पोर्टो नाेवो (अब परांगीपेट्टई) का युद्ध हुआ था.
2. ‘ सिंध डाक (Scinde Dawk)’ नामक डाक टिकट:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1852 में सिन्ध के मुख्य आयुक्त सर बर्टलेफ्रोरे द्वारा सिर्फ़ सिंध राज्य में और मुंबई कराची मार्ग पर प्रयोग के लिए ‘ सिंध डाक नामक डाक टिकट जारी किया था.
3. उच्च न्यायालयका उद्घाटन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1862 में कलकत्ता  उच्च न्यायालय का उद्घाटन हुआ था.
4. पोस्टकार्ड की शुरुआत:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1879 में भारतमें पोस्टकार्ड की शुरुआत हुई थी.
5. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी डॉ0 बिधान चंद्र राय:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1882 में डॉ0 बिधान चंद्र राय का जन्म पटना (बिहार) में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम प्रकाश चंद्र राय जो डिप्टी कलेक्टर के पद पर कार्यरत थे. उनकी माता का नाम श्रीमती कमिनी देवी था.उनकी प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा पटना के ही एक विद्यालय से हुई. जब वे मात्र 14 वर्ष के थे, तभी उनकी माता का देहांत हो गया. ऐसे में उन्होंने अपने भाई बहिनों के साथ घर का कार्य स्वंय करना प्रारम्भ किया और अपने पिता को परिवार चलाने में सहयोग दिया. पटना विश्वविद्यालय से उन्होंने गणित ऑनर्स की बी.ए. की परीक्षा उतीर्ण की। इस समय उन्हें एक सरकारी नौकरी का प्रस्ताव भी मिल रहा था, किंतु उन्होंने इंजीनियरिंग या डॉक्टरी के क्षेत्र में से किसी एक में जाने का विचार किया. कलकत्ता मेडिकल कॉलेज में उनका पहला वर्ष बहुत ही आर्थिक संकट में गुजरा। पिता द्वारा भेजे गये कुछ रुपयों से वे बड़ी मितव्ययिता से अपना काम चलाते थे. उन्होंने बहुत से कष्टों को झेलकर भी अपना अध्ययन करते रहे, इसका अनुमान इस तथ्य से लगता है कि पाँच वर्षों के अपने अध्ययन काल में वे सिर्फ़ पाँच रुपये की पुस्तक ही ख़रीद सके थे. शेष पुस्तकों के लिए उन्हें पुस्तकालय और अपने मित्रों पर निर्भर रहना पड़ता था. वर्ष  1922 में वह कलकत्ता मेडिकल जनरल के संपादक और बोर्ड के सदस्य बने.डॉ. राय ने इस चुनाव में कांग्रेस प्रत्याशी के रूप में उस समय के प्रसिद्ध नेता और अपने विपक्षी सुरेंद्रनाथ बैनर्जी को पराजित किया और इस प्रकार देश की सक्रिय राजनीति में पहला क़दम रखा. डॉ0 राय भारत रत्न से सम्मानित वरिष्ठ चिकित्सक, निर्भीक स्वतंत्रता सेनानी और पश्चिम बंगाल के दूसरे मुख्यमंत्री थे. इस दिन को डॉक्टर दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है.
6. रिज़र्व बैंक के चौथे गवर्नर बेनेगल रामा राव:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1889 में भारतीय रिज़र्व बैंक के चौथे गवर्नर बेनेगल रामा राव का जन्म हुआ था.
7. मुख्यमंत्री वसंतराव नाईक:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1913 में महाराष्ट्रके मुख्यमंत्री वसंतराव नाईक का जन्म यवतमाल जिले के पुसद गांव के पास एक छोटे से गांव गहुली में एक अमीर किसान परिवार में हुआ था. नाईक को महाराष्ट्र में हरित क्रांति, पंचायत राज के साथ-साथ श्वेत क्रांति और रोजगार गारंटी योजना का जनक माना जाता है.
8. भूतपूर्वराज्यपाल ए. आर. किदवई:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1921 में बिहार, पश्चिम बंगाल,  राजस्थान और हरियाणा के भूतपूर्व राज्यपाल ए. आर. किदवई का जन्म बाराबंकी, उत्तर प्रदेश के मसौली गांव में हुआ था. इनके पिता का नाम अशफिकुर रहमान किदवई और माता का नाम नसीमुन्निसा था. इनकी शिक्षा दिल्ली के जामिया मिलिया यूनिवर्सिटी से हुई.  हायर एजुकेशन के लिए  किदवई अमेरिका चले गए, जहां इन्होंने एमएससी और पीएचडी की शिक्षा ली.अपने कॅरियर की शुरुआत ए. आर. किदवई ने बतौर प्रोफेसर अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम यूनिवर्सिटी से की. अपनी प्रति‍भा के कारण ये बहुत जल्द हेड ऑफ द डिपार्टमेंट बन गए. वर्ष  1983 में वह इसी अलीगढ़ यूनिवर्सि‍टी के चांसलर भी बने. वर्ष 1979 में पहली बार बिहार के गवर्नर बने. किदवई ने साइंस और रिसर्च पर 40 किताबें लिखी हैं.
9. साहित्यकार अमरकांत:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1925 में साहित्यकार अमरकांत का जन्म नगरा गाँव, तहसील रसड़ा, बलिया ज़िला (उत्तर प्रदेश) के एक कायस्थ परिवार में हुआ था. इनके पिता का नाम सीताराम वर्मा व माता का नाम अनंती देवी था. पहले अमरकांत का नाम ‘श्रीराम’ रखा गया था.अमरकांत जी के परिवार के लोग मध्यम कोटि के काश्तकार थे.अमरकांत जी के पिताजी का सनातन धर्म में गहरा विश्वास था, किन्तु वे कर्मकांडोंं व धार्मिक रूढ़ियों में विश्वास नहीं करते थे.अमरकांत जी का ‘नगरा’ के प्राइमरी स्कूल में ही नाम लिखाया गया था.अमरकांत जी का अधिकांश समय साहित्यिक गतिविधियों और मित्रों के बीच ही बीतता था.
10. लेखक और सुधारक सुधाकर पाण्डेय:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1927 में लेखक और सुधारक सुधाकर पाण्डेय का जन्म चंदौली, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ था.
11. पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री राम नरेश यादव:– आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1927 में उत्तर प्रदेशके पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री राम नरेश यादव का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के आजमगढ़ जिले के गांव आंधीपुर (अम्बारी) में एक साधारण किसान परिवार में हुआ था.
12. पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री चन्द्रशेखर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1927 में भारत के नवें प्रधानमंत्री चन्द्रशेखर का जन्म पूर्वी उत्तरप्रदेश के बलिया जिले के इब्राहिमपट्टी का एक कृषक परिवार में हुआ था. इनकी स्कूली शिक्षा भीमपुरा के राम करन इण्टर कॉलेज में हुई. उन्होंने एम ए डिग्री इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय से किया. उन्हें विद्यार्थी राजनीति में एक “फायरब्रान्ड” के नाम से जाना जाता था. विद्यार्थी जीवन के पश्चात वह समाजवादी राजनीति में सक्रिय हुए.
13. परमवीर चक्रविजेता अब्दुल हमीद:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1933 में परमवीर चक्रविजेता अब्दुल हमीद का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के गाजीपुर जिले के धामूपुर गाँव में  एक साधारण,माध्यम वर्ग परिवार में हुआ था. उनकी माता का नाम सकीना बेगम और पिता का नाम मोहम्मद उस्मान मसऊदी था.अब्दुल हमीद मसऊदी 27 दिसम्बर 1954 को भारतीय सेना के ग्रेनेडियर रेजीमेंट में भर्ती हुए. बाद में उनकी तैनाती रेजीमेंट के 04 ग्रेनेडियर बटालियन में हुई जहां उन्होंने अपने सैन्य सेवा काल तक अपनी सेवाएं दीं. वर्ष 1965 के भारत-पाक युद्ध के दौरान खेमकरण सैक्टर के आसल उत्ताड़ में लड़े गए युद्ध में अद्भुत वीरता का प्रदर्शन करते हुए वीरगति प्राप्त की जिसके लिए उन्हें मरणोपरान्त भारत का सर्वोच्च सेना पुरस्कार परमवीर चक्र मिला.
14. साहित्यकार कन्हैयालाल नंदन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1933 में साहित्यकार कन्हैयालाल नंदन का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के फतेहपुर ज़िले के परसदेपुर गांव में हुआ था
15. लोकसभा के सदस्य जयपाल सिंह कश्यप:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1935 में लोकसभा के सदस्य जयपाल सिंह कश्यप का जन्म हुआ था.
16. क्रांतिकारी वनलता दास गुप्ता:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1936 में ज्योतिकणा दत्तकी सहपाठिनी, सक्रिय क्रांतिकारी कार्यकर्ता वनलता दास गुप्ता का निधन हुआ था.
17. बाँसुरीवादक पंडित हरिप्रसाद चौरसिया:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1938 में बाँसुरीवादक पंडित हरिप्रसाद चौरसिया का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के इलाहाबाद में हुआ था. इनके पिता पहलवान थे. चौरसिया का बचपन गंगा किनारे बनारस में बीता. उनकी शुरुआत तबला वादक के रूप में हुई. अपने पिता की मर्जी के बिना ही पंडित हरिप्रसाद जी ने संगीत सीखना शुरु कर दिया था. अपने पड़ोसी पंडित राजाराम से उन्होंने संगीत की बारीकियां सीखीं. इसके बाद बांसुरी सीखने के लिए वे वाराणसी के पंडित भोलानाथ प्रसाना के पास गए.अन्नपूर्णा देवी की शागिर्दी में उनकी प्रतिभा में और निखार आया और उनके संगीत को जादुई स्पर्श मिला. पंडित हरिप्रसाद चौरसिया ने बांसुरी के जरिए शास्त्रीय संगीत को तो लोकप्रिय बनाने का काम किया ही, संतूर वादक पंडित शिवशंकर शर्मा के साथ मिलकर ‘शिव-हरि’ नाम से कुछ हिन्दी फ़िल्मों में मधुर संगीत भी दिया.
18. सी. वाई. चिन्तामणि:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1941 में स्वतंत्रता पूर्व भारत के प्रतिष्ठित संपादकों तथा उदारवादी दल के संस्थापक सी. वाई. चिन्तामणि का निधन हुआ था.
19. राजनीतिज्ञ कलराज मिश्र:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1941 में राजनीतिज्ञ कलराज मिश्र का जन्म मलिकपुर गांव, गाज़ीपुर, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ था. उनके पिता पिता पं. रामाज्ञा मिश्र प्राथमिक पाठशाला में प्रधानाध्यापक थे और उनकी माता प्रभावती एक साधारण धार्मिक महिला थीं. विद्यार्थी जीवन में कलराज मिश्र राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ के सक्रिय कार्यकर्ता बन गए. वर्ष 1963 में काशी विद्यापीठ से एमए किया. वर्ष 1963 में संघ के प्रचार के नाते कलराज मिश्र को सबसे पहले गोरखपुर महानगर की जिम्मेदारी दी गई. वर्ष1968 में राजनैतिक क्षेत्र में कार्य करने के लिए आजमगढ़ विभाग के भारतीय जनसंघ के संगठन मंत्री नियुक्त किया गया.
20. साहित्यकार डॉ.तुलसीराम:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1949 में दलित लेखन में अपना एक अलग स्थान रखने वाले साहित्यकार डॉ.तुलसीराम का जन्म हुआ था.
21. राजनीतिज्ञ वेंकैया नायडू:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1949 में भारतीय जनता पार्टी के भूतपूर्व राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष वेंकैया नायडू का जन्म चावटपलेम, नेल्लोर जिला, आंध्र प्रदेश के एक कम्मा परिवार में हुआ था. उन्होंने वी. आर. हाई स्कूल, नेल्लोर से अपनी स्कूली शिक्षा पूरी की और वी. आर. कॉलेज से राजनीति तथा राजनयिक अध्ययन में स्नातक किया. ये स्नातक प्रतिष्ठा प्रथम श्रेणी में उत्तीर्ण हुये. तत्पश्चात् उन्होंने आंध्र विश्वविद्यालय, विशाखापत्तनम से क़ानून में स्नातक की डिग्री हासिल की. वे बचपन से ही राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ के सक्रिय सदस्य रहे हैं.एक छात्र नेता के रूप में वेंकैया नायडू ने वर्ष 1973-1974 में ‘अखिल भारतीय विद्यार्थी परिषद’ से जुड़कर राजनीति में अपना कॅरियर शुरू किया.
22. छोटी रियासतों का विलय:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1949 में त्रावनकोरतथाकोचीन रियासतों को मिलाकर त्रावनकोर-कोचीन राज्य बना दिया गया, किंतु मालाबार मद्रास प्रांत के अधीन रहा.

24. उपराज्यपाल मनोज सिन्हा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1959 में जम्मू और कश्मीरके दूसरे उपराज्यपाल मनोज सिन्हाका जन्म मोहनपुरा,गाजीपुर में हुआ था.
25. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी पुरुषोत्तम दास टंडन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1962 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी पुरुषोत्तम दास टंडन का निधन हुआ था.
26. औद्योगिक विकास बैंक:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1964 में भारतीय औद्योगिक विकास बैंक की स्थापना हुई थी.
27. युद्ध विराम लागू हुआ:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1965 में भारतऔरपाकिस्तान के बीच युद्ध विराम लागू हुआ और विवाद को एक अंतर्राष्ट्रीय न्यायाधिकरण के समक्ष मध्यस्थता के लिए प्रस्तुत किया गया. इस न्यायाधिकरण के फैसले में वर्ष 1968 में प्रकाशित, 9/10 हिस्सा भारत को और शेष 1/10 हिस्से का अधिकार पाकिस्तान को दिया गया.
28. शासत्रीय गायक एवं संगीतकार उस्ताद राशिद ख़ान:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1966 में शासत्रीय गायक एवं संगीतकार उस्तादराशिद ख़ान का जन्म हुआ था.
29. परमाणु अप्रसार संधि:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1968 में 62 देशों ने परमाणु अप्रसार संधि पर हस्ताक्षर किए.
30. पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री अखिलेश यादव:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1973 में पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री अखिलेश यादव का जन्म इटावा जिले के सैफई गाँव में समाजवादी पार्टी के नेता मुलायम सिंह यादव की पहली पत्नी मालती देवी के यहाँ हुआ था. अखिलेश ने राजस्थान मिलिट्री स्कूल धौलपुर से शिक्षा प्राप्त की.अखिलेश ने मई 2009 के लोकसभा उप-चुनाव में फिरोजाबाद सीट से अपने निकटतम प्रतिद्वंद्वी बहुजन समाज पार्टी के प्रत्याशी एस०पी०एस० बघेल को 67,301 मतों से हराकर सफलता प्राप्त की. मार्च 2012 के विधान सभा चुनाव में 224 सीटें जीतकर मात्र 38 वर्ष की आयु में ही वे उत्तर प्रदेश के 33वें मुख्यमन्त्री बन गये.

5. Freedom Fighter Dr. Bidhan Chandra Rai:- On this day in the year 1882, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Rai was born in Patna (Bihar). His father’s name is Prakash Chandra Rai he was working on the post of Deputy Collector. His mother’s name was Mrs. Kamini Devi. He got his early education from a school in Patna. When he was only 14 years old, his mother died. In such a situation, he along with his siblings started doing the household work himself and helped his father in running the family. He did his B.A. in Mathematics with Honors from Patna University. passed the examination At this time, he was also getting a government job offer, but he thought of going into engineering or medicine. His first year at the Calcutta Medical College was spent in dire financial straits. With the few rupees sent by his father, he used to run his work very frugally. He continued his studies even after facing many hardships, it can be estimated from the fact that during his study period of five years, he could only buy a book for five rupees. For the remaining books, he had to depend on the library and his friends. In the year 1922, he became the editor and board member of the Calcutta Medical General. Dr. In this election, Rai defeated Surendranath Banerjee, a famous leader of that time as a Congress candidate and thus took the first step in the active politics of the country. Dr. Rai was a Bharat Ratna-awarded senior physician, a fearless freedom fighter, and the second Chief Minister of West Bengal. This day is celebrated as Doctor’s Day.
6. Fourth Governor of Reserve Bank Benegal Rama Rao:- On this day in the year 1889, the fourth Governor of Reserve Bank of India, Benegal Rama Rao was born.
7. Chief Minister Vasantrao Naik:- On this day in the year 1913, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Vasantrao Naik was born in a rich farmer’s family in a small village of Gahuli near Pusad village of Yavatmal district. Naik is considered the father of Green Revolution, Panchayat Raj as well as White Revolution and Employment Guarantee Scheme in Maharashtra.
8. Former Governor A. R. Kidwai: On this day in the year 1921, former Governor of Bihar, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Haryana, A.K. R. Kidwai was born in Masauli village of Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh. His father’s name was Ashfiqur Rahman Kidwai and his mother’s name was Naseemunnisa. He got his education from Jamia Millia University, Delhi. Kidwai went to America for higher education, where he studied MSc and Ph.D. R. Kidwai is a professor from Aligarh Muslim University. Due to his talent, he soon became the head of the department. In the year 1983, he also became the Chancellor of this Aligarh University. Became the governor of Bihar for the first time in the year 1979. Kidwai has written 40 books on science and research.
9. Writer Amarkant:- On this day in the year 1925, writer Amarkant was born in a Kayastha family of Nagra village, Tehsil Rasda, Ballia district (Uttar Pradesh). His father’s name was Sitaram Verma and his mother’s name was Ananti Devi. Earlier Amarkant was named ‘Shri Ram’. The people of Amarkant’s family were middle-class cultivators. Amarkant’s father had deep faith in Sanatan Dharma, but he did not believe in rituals and religious conventions. Amarkant’s The name was written in the primary school of ‘Nagra’ itself. Most of the time Amarkant ji was spent in literary activities and among friends.

11. Former Chief Minister Ram Naresh Yadav:- On this day in the year 1927, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Ram Naresh Yadav was born in a simple farmer’s family in Andhipur (Ambari) village of Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh.
12. Former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar:- On this day in the year 1927, India’s ninth Prime Minister Chandrashekhar was born in an agricultural family of Ibrahimpatti in the Ballia district of Eastern Uttar Pradesh. His schooling was done at Ram Karan Inter College, Bhimpura. He did his MA degree from Allahabad University. He was known as a “firebrand” in student politics. After student life, he became active in socialist politics.

Paramveer Chakra winner Abdul Hameed:- On this day in the year 1933, Paramveer Chakra winner Abdul Hameed was born in a simple, middle-class family in Dhamupur village of Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh. His mother’s name was Sakina Begum and his father’s name was Mohammad Usman Masoodi. Abdul Hameed Masoodi joined the Grenadier Regiment of the Indian Army on 27 December 1954. Later he was posted in the 04 Grenadier Battalion of the Regiment where he served till his military service. During the Indo-Pak war of 1965, in the battle fought at Asal Uttad in the Khemkaran sector, he attained Veergati, for which he posthumously received the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military award.
