1. नवाब के तौर पर तख्तपोशी:-आज ही के दिन 1757 में मीर जाफर ने बंगाल, बिहार और ओडिसा के नवाब की गद्दी संभाली.
2. तिलिस्मी लेखक देवकीनन्दन खत्री:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1861 में हिंदी के प्रथम तिलिस्मी लेखक देवकीनन्दन खत्री का जन्म हुआ था. पूसा, मुजफ़्फ़रपुर, बिहार में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम ‘लाला ईश्वरदास’ था. उनके पूर्वज पंजाब के निवासी थे और मुग़लों के राज्य काल में ऊँचे पदों पर कार्य करते थे. देवकीनन्दन खत्री जी की प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा उर्दू-फ़ारसी में हुई थी. उन्होंने हिन्दी, संस्कृत एवं अंग्रेज़ी का भी अध्ययन किया था. बाबू देवकीनन्दन खत्री ने जब उपन्यास लिखना प्रारम्भ किया, उस समय में अधिकतर हिन्दू लोग भी उर्दू भाषा ही जानते थे. हिन्दी के औपन्यासिक क्षेत्र का आपने आरंभ ही नहीं किया था, उसमें उन्होंने बहुत ही उच्च, उज्ज्वल और बेजोड़ स्थान भी प्राप्त कर लिया था.
3. बैरिस्टर और शिक्षाविद सर आशुतोष मुखर्जी:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1864 में बैरिस्टर और शिक्षाविद सर आशुतोष मुखर्जी का जन्म कलकत्ता, बंगाल प्रेसीडेंसी (आज़ादी पूर्व) में एक मध्यम वर्ग के बंगाली ब्राह्मण परिवार में हुआ था. विद्यार्थी जीवन में ही नाम कमाने के उपरान्त वर्ष 1888 ई. में उन्होंने कलकत्ता (कोलकाता) हाईकोर्ट में वक़ालत प्रारम्भ की. वर्ष 1904 ई. से हाईकोर्ट के न्यायाधीश और वर्ष 1920 ई. में स्थानापन्न मुख्य न्यायाधीश रहने के बाद वर्ष 1923 ई. में उन्होंने अवकाश ग्रहण कर लिया. वर्ष 1899 ई. में बंगाल विधान परिषद के सदस्य मनोनीत किये गए. उन्होंने शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में, जिसके लिए उन्होंने अपना समस्त जीवन अर्पित कर दिया था, उन्होंने बंगाली की जो महती सेवा की, उसके आधार पर उन्हें आधुनिक बंगाल का निर्माता कहा जा सकता है.
4. कवि माइकल मधुसूदन दत्त:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1873 में बंगला भाषा के कवि माइकल मधुसूदन दत्त का निधन हुआ था.
5. वैज्ञानिक एवं सांख्यिकीविद पी. सी. महालनोबिस:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1893 में वैज्ञानिक एवं सांख्यिकीविद पी. सी. महालनोबिस का जन्म कोलकाता के 210 कार्नवालिस स्ट्रीट स्थित उनके पैतृक आवास में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम प्रबोध चंद्र महालनोबिस था जो साधारण ब्रह्मो समाज के सक्रिय सदस्य थे. उनकी माता निरोदबसिनी का संबंध बंगाल के पढ़े-लिखे कुल से था. महालनोबिस की प्रारंभिक शिक्षा-दीक्षा उनके दादा, गुरु चरन महालनोबिस द्वारा स्थापित ब्रह्मो ब्वायज स्कूल में हुई. उन्होंने मैट्रिक की परीक्षा इसी स्कूल से वर्ष 1908 ई में पास की. प्रेसीडेंसी कालेज से भौतकी विषय में आनर्स करने के बाद उच्च शिक्षा ग्रहण करने के लिए ये लंदन चले गए. इन्होंने कैंब्रिज यूनिवर्सिटी से भौतिकी और गणित दोनों विषयों से डिग्री हासिल की. ये एकमात्र छात्र थे, जिसने भौतिकी में पहला स्थान प्राप्त किया था. महालनोबिस ने पॉप्युलेशन स्टडीज में माप के लिए इस्तेमाल किए जाने वाले ‘महालनोबिस डिस्टेंस’ का आविष्कार किया था. वे पहले योजना आयोग के सदस्य थे और उन्होंने ‘भारतीय सांख्यिकी संस्थान’ (इंडियन स्टैटिस्टिकल इंस्टीट्यूट) स्थापित करने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई थी. इसके साथ ही उन्होंने ‘नैशनल सैंपल सर्वे ऑफिस’ (NSSO) और ‘सेंट्रल स्टैटिस्टिकल ऑर्गनाइजेशन’ (CSO) का भी गठन किया था.
6. अमल कुमार सरकार:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1901 में भारत के भूतपूर्व आठवें मुख्य न्यायाधीश अमल कुमार सरकार का जन्म हुआ था.
7. अमर शहीद राजेन्द्रनाथ लाहिड़ी:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1901 में अमर शहीद राजेन्द्रनाथ लाहिड़ी का जन्म पाबना ज़िले के भड़गा नामक ग्राम में हुआ था. इनके पिता का नाम क्षिति मोहन शर्मा और माता बसंत कुमारी था. वर्ष 1909 ई. में बंगाल से वाराणसी चला आया था, अत: राजेन्द्रनाथ की शिक्षा-दीक्षा वाराणसी से ही हुई. राजेन्द्रनाथ लाहिड़ी एम. ए. में पढ़ रहे थे, तभी उनका संपर्क क्रांतिकारी शचीन्द्रनाथ सान्याल से हुआ. सान्याल बंगाल के क्रांतिकारी ‘युगांतर’ दल से संबद्ध थे. राजेन्द्रनाथ इस संघ की प्रतीय समिति के सदस्य थे. अन्य सदस्यों में रामप्रसाद बिस्मिल भी सम्मिलित थे. ‘काकोरी ट्रेन कांड’ में जिन क्रांतिकारियों ने प्रत्यक्ष भाग लिया, उनमें राजेन्द्रनाथ भी थे. वे बम बनाने की शिक्षा प्राप्त करने और बंगाल के क्रांतिकारी दलों से संपर्क बढाने के उद्देश्य से कोलकाता गए. वहाँ दक्षिणेश्वर बम फैक्ट्री कांड में पकड़े गए और इस मामले में दस वर्ष की सज़ा हुई.
8. साहित्यकार मेहता लज्जाराम:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1931 में साहित्यकार मेहता लज्जाराम का निधन हुआ था.
9. वैज्ञानिक पी.के.अयंगर:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1931 में वैज्ञानिक पी.के.अयंगर जन्म तिरुनेलवेली, तमिलनाडु में हुआ था. भारत के प्रथम परमाणु बम परीक्षण के सूत्रधार थे. पी.के.अयंगर भाभा परमाणु अनुसंधान केन्द्र के निदेशक और उसके बाद परमाणु ऊर्जा आयोग के अध्यक्ष रहे. वे भारत-अमेरिका असैनिक नाभिकीय सहयोग के विरुद्ध बोलने वालों में अग्रणी थे.
10. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी सरदार बलदेव सिंह:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1961 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी, राजनीतिज्ञ एवं प्रथम रक्षामंत्री सरदार बलदेव सिंह का निधन हुआ था.
11. भाषा-वैज्ञानिक और गणितज्ञ दामोदर धर्मानंद कोसांबी:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1966 में भाषा-वैज्ञानिक और गणितज्ञ दामोदर धर्मानंद कोसांबी का निधन हुआ था.
12. अभिनेत्री उपासना सिंह:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1975 में अभिनेत्री उपासना सिंह का जन्म पंजाब के होशियारपुर क्षेत्र में हुआ था. उपासना सिंह मुख्य रूप से हास्य कला के लिए जानी जाती है. उपासना ने अपने फ़िल्मी कैरियर की शुरुआत फिल्म जुदाई से की थी. उपासना सिंह ने वर्ष 2009 में फिल्म अभिनेता नीरज भारद्वाज से शादी की थी.
13. मांड गायिका गवरी देवी:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1988 में राजस्थान की प्रसिद्ध मांड गायिकागवरी देवी का निधन हुआ था.
14. फ्रैंकफुर्ट चैस क्लासिक टूर्नामेंट:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1997 में विश्वनाथन आनंद ने जर्मनी में फ्रैंकफुर्ट चैस क्लासिक टूर्नामेंट जीता था.
15. भारतीय शांति सैनिकों को रिहा:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2000 में सिएरा लियोन में रिवॉल्यूशनरी युनाइटेड फ़्रंट के विद्रोहियों ने बंधक बनाने गये शेष 21 भारतीय शांति सैनिकों को रिहा किया था.
16. समग्र समझौता:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2005 में भारत और अमेरिका के बीच दस (10) वर्षीय समझौता हुआ था.

21. ऑस्ट्रेलियन सुपर सीरीज:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2014 में सायना नेहवाल ने ऑस्ट्रेलियन सुपर सीरीज जीती थी.
22. मूर्तिकार के.जी.सुब्रह्मण्यम:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2016 में मूर्तिकार और भित्ति चित्रकार के.जी.सुब्रह्मण्यम का निधन हुआ था.
23. राष्ट्रीय वृद्धाजन केंद्र की आधारशिला:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2018 में पीएम मोदी ने नई दिल्ली के अखिल भारतीय आयुर्विज्ञान संस्थान-एम्स में 200 बिस्तर वाले राष्ट्रीय वृद्धाजन केंद्र की आधारशिला रखी थी.
24. बनारस से काठमांडू के बीच सीधी उड़ान सेवा:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2018 में उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ ने बनारस से काठमांडू के बीच सीधी उड़ान सेवा की शुरुआत की थी.
25. सुरक्षित मातृत्व अभियान:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2018 में मध्य प्रदेश को प्रधानमंत्री सुरक्षित मातृत्व अभियान के अंतर्गत मातृ मृत्यु दर में कमी लाने के लिए पुरस्कृत किया था.

1. Enthronement as Nawab: – On this day in 1757, Mir Jafar took over the throne of Nawab of Bengal, Bihar, and Orissa.
2. Tilismi writer Devkinandan Khatri:- On this day in the year 1861, Hindi’s first Tilismi writer Devkinandan Khatri was born. Was born in Pusa, Muzaffarpur, Bihar. His father’s name was ‘Lala Ishwardas’. His forefathers were residents of Punjab and used to hold high positions during the rule of the Mughals. Devkinandan Khatri’s initial education was in Urdu-Persian. He also studied Hindi, Sanskrit, and English. When Babu Devkinandan Khatri started writing novels, at that time most of the Hindu people knew only Urdu language. You had not only started Hindi’s novelistic field, but he had also achieved a very high, bright, and unique place.
3. Barrister and Educationist Sir Ashutosh Mukherjee:- On this day in the year 1864, barrister and educationist Sir Ashutosh Mukherjee was born in a middle-class Bengali Brahmin family in Calcutta, Bengal Presidency (pre-independence). After earning a name in student life itself, in the year 1888, he started practicing at Calcutta (Kolkata) High Court. He retired in the year 1923 after being the Judge of the High Court from the year 1904 and acting Chief Justice in the year 1920. In the year 1899, he was nominated as a member of the Bengal Legislative Council. He can be called the creator of modern Bengal on the basis of the great service he did to Bengali in the field of education, to which he devoted his whole life.
4. Poet Michael Madhusudan Dutt:- On this day in the year 1873, Bengali language poet Michael Madhusudan Dutt passed away.
5. Scientist and statistician PC Mahalanobis:- On this day in the year 1893, scientist and statistician PC Mahalanobis was born at his ancestral residence at 210 Cornwallis Street, Kolkata. His father’s name was Prabodh Chandra Mahalanobis, he was an active member of the ordinary Brahmo Samaj. His mother Nirodbasini was related to an educated family in Bengal. Mahalanobis received his early education at the Brahmo Boys’ School, established by his grandfather, Guru Charan Mahalanobis. He passed the matriculation examination from this school in the year 1908 AD. After doing Honors in Physics from Presidency College, he went to London to pursue higher education. He obtained degrees in both Physics and Mathematics subjects from Cambridge University. He was the only student who got the first position in Physics. Mahalanobis invented the ‘Mahalanobis Distance’ used for measurement in population studies. He was a member of the first Planning Commission and was instrumental in setting up the ‘Indian Statistical Institute’. Along with this, he also formed ‘National Sample Survey Office’ (NSSO) and ‘Central Statistical Organization (CSO).
6. Amal Kumar Sarkar:- On this day in the year 1901, former eighth Chief Justice of India Amal Kumar Sarkar was born.
7. Amar Shaheed Rajendranath Lahiri:- On this day in the year 1901, Amar Shaheed Rajendranath Lahiri was born in the village Bhadga of Pabna district. His father’s name was Kshiti Mohan Sharma and his mother was Basant Kumari. He had moved to Varanasi from Bengal in the year 1909 AD, so Rajendranath’s education and initiation took place from Varanasi only. Rajendranath Lahiri M.A. I was studying, and only then he came in contact with revolutionary Shachindranath Sanyal. Sanyal was associated with the revolutionary ‘Yugantar’ party of Bengal. Rajendranath was a member of the Pratiya Samiti of this Sangh. Ramprasad Bismil was also included among other members. Rajendranath was also among the revolutionaries who took a direct part in the ‘Kakori train incident’. He went to Calcutta with the aim of getting bomb-making education and increasing contact with the revolutionary parties of Bengal. There Dakshineswar was caught in the bomb factory case and was sentenced to ten years in this case.

9. Scientist P.K. Iyengar:- On this day in the year 1931, scientist PK Iyengar was born in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. He was the architect of India’s first atomic bomb test. He was the director of the Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) and then the chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission. He was a leader in speaking against Indo-US civil nuclear cooperation.
