- बंकिम चंद्र चट्टोपाध्याय:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1838 में राष्ट्रगीत के रचयिताबंकिम चंद्र चट्टोपाध्याय का जन्म बंगाल के 24 परगना ज़िले के कांठल पाड़ा नामक गाँव में एक सम्पन्न परिवार में हुआ था. बंकिम चन्द्र चट्टोपाध्याय बंगला के शीर्षस्थ उपन्यासकार हैं. उनकी लेखनी से बंगला साहित्य तो समृद्ध हुआ ही है, हिन्दी भी अपकृत हुई है.वे भारत के एलेक्जेंडर ड्यूमा माने जाते हैं. इन्होंने वर्ष 1865 में अपना पहला उपन्यास ‘दुर्गेश नन्दिनी’ लिखा.
- महाराजा रणजीत सिंह:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1839 में महाराजा रणजीत सिंह का निधन हुआ था. वे “शेर-ए पंजाब” के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हैं. महाराजा रणजीत सिंह ऐसे व्यक्ति थे, जिन्होंने न केवल पंजाब को एक सशक्त सूबे के रूप में एकजुट रखा, बल्कि अपने जीवित रहते हुए अंग्रेज़ों को अपने साम्राज्य के पास भी नहीं फटकने दिया.
- महाराष्ट्र साहित्य परिषद:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1909 में महाराष्ट्र साहित्य परिषद “मराठी भाषा और साहित्य के महत्व” के उद्देश्य हेतु इसे पुणे में स्थापित किया गया था. भारतीय साहित्य का विश्वकोश इसे मराठी का पहला प्रतिनिधि साहित्यिक निकाय मानता है.
- नृत्यांगना एवं कोरियोग्राफर अमला शंकर :- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1919 में नृत्यांगना एवं कोरियोग्राफर अमला शंकर का जन्म जसोर ( बांग्लादेश) में हुआ था. उनका परिवार शुरुआत से कला के क्षेत्र से जुड़ा था. वह अपने समय के प्रसिद्ध नर्तक एवं कोरियोग्राफर उदय शंकर की पत्नी और दिग्गज सितार वादक पंडित रवि शंकर की भाभी थीं. अमला शंकर ने उस दौर में नृत्य का प्रशिक्षण लिया, जब महिलाओं के नाचने को समाज में हेय दृष्टि से देखा जाता था. कला के क्षेत्र में उनके योगदान के लिए पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार ने वर्ष 2011 में उन्हें ‘बंग विभूषण’ से सम्मानित किया था. अमला शंकर ने वर्ष 1948 में ‘कल्पना’ फिल्म में मुख्य भूमिका निभाई थी. यह फिल्म उदय शंकर ने ही बनाई थी. फिल्म की कहानी युवा नर्तकों के सपनों और नृत्य अकादमी पर आधारित थी. उनके योगदान को देखते हुए उन्हें वर्ष 2012 में ‘संगीत नाट्य अकादमी टैगोर रत्न पुरस्कार’ भी मिला.
- साहित्यकार अकिलन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1922 में तमिल भाषा के साहित्यकार अकिलन का जन्म पेरुंगलूर, तमिलनाडु में हुआ था. उनके पिता फ़ॉरेस्ट रेंजर थे. संघर्ष भरे इन्हीं दिनों की अनुभूतियाँ अकिलन की प्रेरणा बनीं और 1939 में उनकी सबसे पहली कहानी अर्थकष्ट से मृत्यु प्रकाश में आई.कुछ समय बाद कवि सुब्रह्मण्यम भारतीय एवं बंकिमचंद्र चटर्जी की रचनाओं ने उनके मानस में राष्ट्रीयता की चिंगारी जला दी.
- केंद्रीय गृह सचिव आर. डी. प्रधान:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1928 में आर. डी. प्रधान का जन्म हुआ था. राजीव गांधी जब प्रधानमंत्री थे, तब आर. डी. प्रधान डेढ़ वर्ष तक केंद्रीय गृह सचिव रहे थे. वे वर्ष 1998 – 2003 तक अखिल भारतीय कांग्रेस कमेटी में सोनिया गांधी के कार्यालय के प्रभारी भी रहे. वह बिहार और फिर 19 मार्च, 1987 से 16 मार्च, 1990 तक अरुणाचल प्रदेश के राज्यपाल भी रहे.
- संगीतकार राहुल देव बर्मन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1939 में हिन्दी फ़िल्मों के संगीतकार राहुल देव बर्मन का जन्म कलकत्ता, पश्चिम बंगाल में हुआ था. उन्होंने अपनी प्रारंभिक शिक्षा बालीगंज गवर्नमेंट हाई स्कूल, कोलकाता से प्राप्त की थी. उन्होंने उस्ताद अली अकबर खान से सरोद भी सीखा. बर्मन ने आशा भोंसले के साथ विवाह किया था. उन्होंने अपने करियर की शुरुआत उनके सहायक के रूप में की थी. बर्मन प्रयोगवादी संगीतकार के रूप में जाने जाते हैं. उन्होंने पश्चिमी संगीत को मिलाकर अनेक नई धुनें तैयार की थीं. आर. डी. बर्मन को पंचम नाम से फ़िल्म जगत में पुकारा जाता था. पंचम दा को माउथआर्गन बजाने का बेहद शौक़ था. बर्मन को बड़ी सफलता मिली ‘अमर प्रेम’ से. ‘चिंगारी कोई भड़के’ और ‘कुछ तो लोग कहेंगे’ जैसे यादगार गीत देकर उन्होंने साबित किया कि वे भी प्रतिभाशाली हैं.
- गायक नितिन मुकेश:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1950 में गायक नितिन मुकेश का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम नितिन मुकेश माथुर हैं, जो हिंदी सिनेमा में पार्श्व गायक हैं. उनकी माँ का नाम निशि मुकेश माथुर हैं. नितिन मुकेश माथुर बॉलीवुड के मशहूर गायक मुकेश के पोते हैं. नितिन मुकेश ने अपनी शुरूआती पढ़ाई ग्रीनलान हाईस्कूल मुंबई से पूर्ण की है.वह कॉमर्स से ग्रेजुएट हैं. नितिन मुकेश ने अपने एक इंटरव्यू में कहा, कि संगीत मेरा शौक है, लेकिन एक्टिंग मेरा पैशन है. एक अच्छा अभिनेता बनने के लिए नील ने नमित कपूर के एक्टिंग स्कूल से अभिनय में चार महीने प्रशिक्षण भी प्राप्त किया हैं. नितिन मुकेश ने अपने फ़िल्मी करियर की शुरुआत वर्ष 2007 बतौर अभिनेता राम राघवन की फिल्म एक्शन-थ्रिलर फिल्म जॉनी गद्दार से की थी.
- पत्रकार पूर्णिमा वर्मन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1955 में पत्रकार पूर्णिमा वर्मन का जन्म पीलीभीत, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ था. वर्ष 2012 में केंद्रीय हिंदी संस्थान द्वारा पद्मभूषण डॉ. मोटूरि सत्यनारायण पुरस्कार से सम्मानित हैं.
- उड़नपरी पी.टी.ऊषा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1964 में उड़नपरी के नाम से दुनियाभर में पहचान बनाने वाली पी.टी.ऊषा का जन्म केरल के कोझीकोड ज़िले के पय्योली ग्राम में हुआ था.उषा मलयालम भाषी है. वर्ष 1979 में उन्होंने राष्ट्रीय विद्यालय खेलों में भाग लिया, जहाँ ओ. ऍम. नम्बियार का उनकी ओर ध्यानाकर्षित हुआ, और वे अंत तक उनके प्रशिक्षक रहे. वर्ष 1980 के मास्को ओलम्पिक में उनकी शुरुआत कुछ ख़ास नहीं रही. वर्ष1982 के एशियाड खेलों में उसने 100 मीटर और 200 मीटर दौड़ में स्वर्ण पदक जीते थे. राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर उषा ने कई बार अपने सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रदर्शन दोहराने के साथ 1984 के लांस एंजेल्स ओलंपिक खेलों में भी चौथा स्थान प्राप्त किया था. यह गौरव पाने वाली वे भारत की पहली महिला धाविका हैं.’ट्रैक एंड फ़ील्ड स्पर्धाओं’ में लगातार 5 स्वर्ण पदक एवं एक रजत पदक जीतकर वह एशिया की सर्वश्रेष्ठ धाविका बन गई हैं. पी.टी.ऊषा दक्षिण रेलवे में अधिकारी पद पर कार्यरत हैं. वर्ष 1985 में उन्हें पद्म श्री व अर्जुन पुरस्कार दिया गया.
- नेहरु संग्रहालय:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1964 में प्रधानमंत्री के सरकारी निवास तीन मूर्ति भवन को बनाया गया.

- Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay:- On this day in the year 1838, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, the author of the national anthem, was born in a prosperous family in a village named Kanthal Pada in 24 Parganas district of Bengal. Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay is a top Bengali novelist. Bangla literature has not only been enriched by his writings but Hindi has also been harmed. He is considered as Alexander Duma of India. He wrote his first novel ‘Durgesh Nandini’ in the year 1865.

She was the wife of the famous dancer and choreographer Uday Shankar of her time and sister-in-law of veteran sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar. Amala Shankar took training in dance at a time when the dancing of women was looked down upon in society. For his contribution to the field of arts, the Government of West Bengal honored him with ‘Banga Vibhushan’ in the year 2011. Amala Shankar played the lead role in the film ‘Kalpana’ in the year 1948. This film was made by Uday Shankar himself. - Writer Akilan: – On this day in the year 1922, Tamil language writer Akilan was born in Perungalur, Tamil Nadu. His father was a forest ranger.
