1. बंगाली उपन्यासकार बंकिम चंद्र चटर्जी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1838 में बंगाली उपन्यासकार और वंदे मातरम् के लेखक बंकिम चंद्र चटर्जी का जन्म बंगाल के 24 परगना ज़िले के कांठल पाड़ा नामक गाँव में एक सम्पन्न परिवार में हुआ था. उनकी शिक्षा हुगली कॉलेज और प्रेसीडेंसी कॉलेज में हुई. वर्ष 1857 में उन्होंने प्रेसीडेंसी कालेज से बी. ए. की उपाधि लेनेवाले ये पहले भारतीय थे. शिक्षा समाप्ति के तुरंत बाद डिप्टी मजिस्ट्रेट पद पर इनकी नियुक्ति हो गई. कुछ काल तक बंगाल सरकार के सचिव पद पर भी रहे. रायबहादुर और सी. आई. ई. की उपाधियाँ भी पाईं. वर्ष  1874 में प्रसिद्ध देश भक्ति गीत वन्देमातरम् की रचना की जिसे बाद में आनन्द मठ नामक उपन्यास में शामिल किया गया साथ ही वर्ष  1896 में कांग्रेस के कलकत्ता अधिवेशन में पहली बार गाया गया
2. गायिका और डांसर गौहर जान:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1873 में गायिका और डांसर गौहर जान का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के आजमगढ़ में एक क्रिश्चियन परिवार में हुआ था. उनका वास्तविक नाम नाम एंजलिना था. गौहर के दादा ब्रिटिश थे जबकि दादी हिन्दू थीं.गौहर जान के पिता अर्मेनियन थे और मां विक्टोरिया जन्म से भारतीय थीं तथा एक प्रशिक्षित नृत्यांगना और गायिका थीं.अपने पति से तलाक होने के बाद विक्टोरिया अपनी 8 साल की बच्ची एंजलिना को लेकर बनारस चली गई थीं, जहां उन्होंने इस्लाम धर्म अपना लिया और नाम रखा ‘मलका जान’मां के साथ साथ गौहर का भी धर्म बदला गया और वह एंजलिना से गौहर जान बन गईं. तत्कालीन समय में गौहर की माँ मलका जान स्‍थापित गायिका और नृत्‍यांगना बन चुकी थीं. उन्‍हें लोग ‘बड़ी मलका जान’ के नाम से जानते थे. वर्ष 1883 में मलका जान कलकत्ता में नवाब वाजिद अ‍ली शाह के दरबार में नियुक्‍त हो गईं. यहीं पर गौहर जान का प्रशिक्षण शुरू हुआ. गौहर जान ने पटियाला के काले खान उर्फ ‘कालू उस्‍ताद’, रामपुर के उस्‍ताद वजीर खान और पटियाला घराने के संस्‍थापक उस्‍ताद अली बख्‍श जरनैल से हिन्‍दुस्‍तानी गायन सीखा। इसके अलावा उन्‍होंने महान कत्थक गुरु बिंदादीन महाराज से कत्‍थक, सृजनबाई से ध्रुपद और चरन दास से बंगाली कीर्तन में शिक्षा ली साथ ही  गौहर  ने ‘हमदम’ नाम से गजलें भी लिखना शुरू कर दिया. यही नहीं उन्‍होंने रविन्द्र संगीत में भी महारथ हासिल कर ली. वर्ष 1902 में ग्रामोफोन कंपनी के भारत में पहले एजेंट फ्रेड्रिक विलियम ने गौहर जान को पहली भारतीय आर्टिस्ट के तौर पर चुना था.गौहर जान ने 1902 से 1920 के बीच 10 भाषाओं में 600 से ज्यादा गाने गाए थे.
3. गायक बाल गन्धर्व:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1888 में मराठी रंगमंच के गायक बाल गन्धर्व का जन्म पुणे के एक मध्यम वर्गीय ब्राह्मण परिवार में हुआ था.ऊनका वास्तविक नाम ‘नारायण श्रीपाद राजहंस’ था, लेकिन वे ‘बाल गन्धर्व’ के नाम से अधिक प्रसिद्ध हुए.रंगमंच के उनके अभिनय से प्रभावित होकर लोकमान्य बाल गंगाधर तिलक ने वर्ष 1898 में उन्हें ‘बाल गंधर्व’ का नाम दिया था और यहीं से उनका ये नाम प्रसिद्ध हो गया.
4. सेकेंड लेफ्टिनेंट रामा राघोबा राणे:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1918 में परमवीर चक्रसे सम्मानित सेकेंड लेफ्टिनेंट रामा राघोबा राणे का जन्म  धारवाड़ ज़िले के हवेली गाँव में हुआ था। उनकी प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा, पिता के एक स्थान से दूसरे स्थान पर स्थानांतरण (ट्रांसफ़र) के कारण बिखरी-बिखरी सी हुई.वर्ष 1930 में असहयोग आन्दोलन शुरू हुआ जिससे राघोबा राणे बेहद प्रभावित हुए और ऐसा लगा कि वह इस आन्दोलन में सब कुछ छोड़कर कूद पड़ेंगे लेकिन इस स्थिति के आने के पहले ही इनके पिता अपने परिवार सहित अपने पैतृक गाँव चेंडिया आ गए. वर्ष 1940 में दूसरा विश्व युद्ध तेज़ी पर था. राघोबा के भीतर भी कुछ जोश भरा जीवन जीने की चाह थी तो उन्होंने भारतीय सेना में जाने का मन बनाया.रामा राघोबा राणे लगातार सेना को अपनी बहादुरी, अपनी नेतृत्व क्षमता तथा अपने चरित्र से प्रभावित करते रहे जिसके फलस्वरूप इन्हें सेकेंड लेफ़्टिनेंट के रूप में कमीशंड ऑफिसर बनाकर जम्मू कश्मीर के मोर्चे पर तैनात कर दिया गया.सेकेंड लेफ़्टिनेंट रामा राघोबा राणे ने जिस बहादुरी धैर्य तथा कुशल नेतृत्व से यह काम पूरा किया और भारत को विजय का श्रेय दिलाया, उसके लिए उन्हें परमवीर चक्र प्रदान किया गया.
5. कवि महेन्‍द्र भटनागर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1926 में कवि महेन्‍द्र भटनागर का जन्म झाँसी (उत्तर प्रदेश) में हुआ था. महेंद्र की प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा झाँसी, मुरार (ग्वालियर), सबलगढ़ (मुरैना) में हुई. इन्होंने वर्ष 1941 में शासकीय विद्यालय, मुरार (ग्वालियर) से मैट्रिक, वर्ष  1948 में नागपुर विश्वविद्यालय से परास्नातक (हिन्दी) की शिक्षा और वर्ष 1957 में ‘समस्यामूलक उपन्यासकार प्रेमचंद’ विषय पर पी-एच. डी. की उपाधि प्राप्त की.जुलाई 1945 से इन्होने अध्यापन-कार्य शुरू किया. महेंद्र भटनागर की काव्य-यात्रा वर्ष  1941 से आरम्भ हुई, जब ये पंद्रह वर्ष के थे.  इनकी प्रथम कविता ‘सुख-दुख’ है; जो वार्षिक पत्रिका ‘विक्टोरिया कॉलेज मेगज़ीन’ के किसी अंक में छपी थी.
6. राजनीतिज्ञ एस. मल्लिकार्जुनैय्या:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1931 में राजनीतिज्ञ एस. मल्लिकार्जुनैय्या का जन्म हुआ था. राजनीतिज्ञ एस. मल्लिकार्जुनैय्या चौदहवीं लोकसभा के एक सांसद थे। वो कर्नाटक राज्य के तुमकुर से निर्वाचित भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा) के निर्वाचित सदस्य थे.
7. योगेन्द्र नारायण  :- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1942 में योगेन्द्र नारायण का जन्म इलाहाबाद (उत्तर प्रदेश ) में हुआ था. योगेन्द्र नारायण ने इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय से भौतिकी, रसायन और गणित में बी.एससी. व राजनीति विज्ञान में प्रथम श्रेणी और एम.ए. भी प्रथम श्रेणी में उत्तीर्ण करने के उपरान्त भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा को अपने कैरियर का माध्यम चुना. योगेन्द्र नारायण केंद्र सरकार में रक्षा सचिव और राज्य सभा में महासचिव भी थे.
8. रासायन वैज्ञानिक गोवर्धन मेहता:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1943 में भारतीय शोधकर्ता और रासायनिक वैज्ञानिक गोवर्धन मेहता का जन्म हुआ था. गोवर्धन मेहता ने अपनी बीएससी और एमएससी की डिग्री बिट्स पिलानी से प्राप्त की. जबकि पुणे विश्वविद्यालय से पीएचडी की. उन्होंने 400 से अधिक शोध पत्र लिखे हैं.हैदराबाद विश्वविद्यालय के पूर्व कुलपति रहे गोवर्धन मेहता को जर्मनी के प्रतिष्ठित ‘क्रॉस ऑफ दि ऑर्डर ऑफ मेरिट’ उपाधि से सम्मानित किया गया है.फेडरल प्रेसिडेंट थियोडॉर ह्यूस द्वारा वर्ष 1951 में ‘दि ऑर्डर ऑफ मेरिट ऑफ दि फेडरल रिपब्लिक ऑफ जर्मनी’ की स्थापना की गई थी. किसी व्यक्ति को राजनीति, अर्थशास्त्र, सामाजिक अथवा बौद्धिक क्षेत्र की उपलब्धियों के लिए फेडरल रिपब्लिक ऑफ जर्मनी द्वारा दिया जाने वाला यह सर्वश्रेष्ठ सम्मान है.
9. साहित्यकार गोविंद शास्त्री दुगवेकर :- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1961 में साहित्यकार गोविंद शास्त्री दुगवेकर का निधन हुआ था.
10. दिगम्बर पंथ के प्रसिद्ध मुनि:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1967 में दिगम्बर पंथ के प्रसिद्ध मुनि तरुण सागरका जन्म मध्य प्रदेश के दमोह में गुहंची गांव में हुआ था.उनका वास्तविक नाम पवन कुमार जैन था. उनके पिता का नाम प्रताप चन्द्र जैन और माता का नाम शांतिबाई जैन था. बचपन से ही तरुण सागर मुनि का अध्यात्म की और बड़ा झुकाव था. वे अन्य जैन मुनियों से बिलकुल भिन्न थे।.उनके प्रवचनों में हमेशा सामाजिक मुद्दों पर चर्चा की जाती थी. उन्हें सुनने के लिए जैन धर्म के लोग तो आते ही थे, लेकिन अन्य धर्म के लोग भी बड़ी संख्या में उनके प्रवचन सुनते थे. तरुण सागर मुनि प्रवचन के माध्यम से रुढ़िवाद, हिंसा और भ्रष्टाचार का काफी विरोध करते थे.
11. राजनीतिज्ञ धर्मेन्द्र प्रधान:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1969 में राजनीतिज्ञ धर्मेन्द्र प्रधान का जन्म तालचेर, ओडीशा में हुआ था. वर्तमान में भारत सरकार के पेट्रोलियम और प्राकृतिक गैस तथा इस्पात मंत्रालय के कैबिनेट मंत्री हैं.
12. संवाद सिनेमा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1972 में संवाद सिनेमा ने अपना जीवन आरंभ किया. फ़िल्म निर्माण का काम आरंभ होने से ही निरंतर इस बात का प्रयास किया गया कि ऐसी फ़िल्में बनाई जाएं जिसमें संवाद भी हो.
13. बोइंग गौरीशंकर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1982 में एयर इंडिया का पहला बोइंग गौरीशंकर मुंबई में दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हुआ था.
14. अभिनेता अर्जुन कपूर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1985 में अभिनेता अर्जुन कपूर का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम बोनी कपूर और मोना शौरी कपूर है. अर्जुन ने आर्य विद्या मंदिर, चेंबूर, मुंबई से पढ़ाई की है. अर्जुन ने अपने फिल्मी करियर की शुरूआत सहायक निर्देशक के रूप में फिल्‍म ‘कल हो ना हो’ से की थी.अभिनेता के तौर पर उन्‍होंने फिल्‍म इश्‍कजादे से शुरूआत की थी.
15. हॉकी खिलाड़ी मनप्रीत सिंह:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1992 में हॉकी खिलाड़ी मनप्रीत सिंह का जन्म जालंधर शहर के बाहरी इलाके मिथापुर गांव में एक किसान परिवार में हुआ था.उन्होंने पहली बार 19 साल की उम्र में भारत के लिए खेलना शुरू किया था. वर्ष 2013 में वह हॉकी जूनियर विश्व कप में जूनियर पुरुषों की हॉकी टीम के कप्तान बने.
16. ‘तीन बीघा गलियारा’:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1992 में भारतने ‘तीन बीघा गलियारा’ 999 वर्षों के लिए बांग्लादेश को पट्टे पर दिया.
17. राष्ट्रीय ट्रेड यूनियन कांग्रेस के सह-संस्थापक गोपाल रामानुजम:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2001 में राष्ट्रीय ट्रेड यूनियन कांग्रेस के सह-संस्थापक गोपाल रामानुजम का निधन हुआ था.
18. फ़िल्म निर्माता यश जौहर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2004 में फ़िल्म निर्माता यश जौहर का निधन हुआ था.
19. हीरा खनन:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2008 में बहुर्राष्ट्रीय कम्पनी रियोरिटो नेमध्य प्रदेश  के  बुन्देलखण्ड  क्षेत्र में छतरपुर ज़िले के तहत हीरा खनन के लिए खनिज पट्टा माइनिंग लीज हासिल कर बंदर डायमंड प्रोजेक्ट शुरू करने की घोषणा की.
20. बीएफ-एनटीपीसी एनर्जी सिस्टम लिमिटेड:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2008 में बिजली परियोजनाओं के लिए कास्टिंग फोर्जिंग एवं बेलेंस आफ प्लाट उपकरणों को बनाने के लिए एनटीपीसी वभारत फोर्ज ने बीएफ-एनटीपीसी एनर्जी सिस्टम लिमिटेड नामक संयुक्त उद्यम बनाया.
21. बचाव हेलीकॉप्टर के दुर्घटनाग्रस्त:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2013 में उत्तराखंडमें एक बचाव हेलीकॉप्टर के दुर्घटनाग्रस्त होने से 20 लोग मारे गये.
22. तीसरे वार्षिक सम्मेलन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2018 में प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने मुंबई में एशियाई ढांचागत निवेश बैंक-ए.आई.आई.बी. के तीसरे वार्षिक सम्मेलन का उद्घाटन किया.

1. Bengali novelist Bankim Chandra Chatterjee:- On this day in the year 1838, Bengali novelist and author of Vande Mataram, Bankim Chandra Chatterjee was born in a prosperous family in Kanthal Pada village of 24 Parganas district of Bengal. He was educated at Hooghly College and Presidency College. In the year 1857, he did B.A. from Presidency College. A. He was the first Indian to take the title of Immediately after the completion of education, he was appointed to the post of Deputy Magistrate. He also held the post of Secretary to the Government of Bengal for some time. Got the titles of Raibahadur and C.I.E. Composed the famous patriotic song Vande Mataram in the year 1874, which was later included in the novel Anand Math, as well as sung for the first time in the Calcutta session of the Congress in the year 1896.
2. Singer and Dancer Gauhar Jaan:- On this day in the year 1873, singer and dancer Gauhar Jaan was born in a Christian family in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. Her real name was Angelina. Gauahar’s grandfather was British while her grandmother was Hindu. Gauhar Jaan’s father was Armenian and his mother Victoria was Indian by birth and a trained dancer and singer. After divorcing her husband, Victoria moved to Banaras with her 8-year-old daughter Angelina. Where she converted to Islam and named ‘Malka Jaan’ along with her mother, Gauhar’s religion was also changed and she became Gauhar Jaan from Angelina. In those days, Gauhar’s mother Malka Jaan had become an established singer and dancer. People knew him by the name of ‘Badi Malka Jaan’. In the year 1883, Malka Jan was appointed to the court of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah in Calcutta. This is where Gauhar Jaan’s training started. Gauhar Jaan learned Hindustani singing from Kale Khan alias ‘Kalu Ustapad’ of Patiala, Usta The Wazir Khan of Rampur, and Ustad Ali Bakhsh ‘Jarnail, the founder of the Patiala Gharana. Apart from this, she learned Kathak from the great Kathak Guru Bindadin Maharaj, Dhrupad from Srijan Bai, and Bengali Kirtan from Charan Das. Along with this, Gauhar also started writing Ghazals under the name ‘Humdam’. Not only this, but he also achieved mastery in Rabindra Sangeet. In the year 1902, Frederick William, the first agent of the Gramophone Company in India, selected Gauhar Jaan as the first Indian artist. Between 1902 and 1920, Gauhar Jaan sang more than 600 songs in 10 languages.
3. Singer Bal Gandharva:- On this day in the year 1888, Marathi theater singer Bal Gandharva was born in a middle-class Brahmin family in Pune. His real name was ‘Narayan Shripad Rajhans’, but he was known as ‘Bal Gandharva’. Impressed by his acting in theatre, Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak gave him the name ‘Bal Gandharva’ in the year 1898 and from here his name became famous.
4. Second Lieutenant Rama Raghoba Rane:- On this day in the year 1918, Second Lieutenant Rama Raghoba Rane, awarded with Paramveer Chakra, was born in Haveli village of Dharwad district. His early education was scattered due to the transfer of his father from one place to another. In the year 1930, the non-cooperation movement started, which greatly influenced Raghoba Rane and it seemed that he would leave everything and jump into this movement. But even before this situation came, his father came to his native village Chendia along with his family. In the year 1940, the Second World War was on the rise. Raghoba also wanted to lead a life full of enthusiasm, so he made up his mind to join the Indian Army. Rama Raghoba Rane continued to impress the army with his bravery, his leadership ability, and his character, as a result of which he was commissioned as a second lieutenant. After being made an officer, he was posted on the front of Jammu and Kashmir. Second Lieutenant Rama Raghoba Rane was awarded the Param Vir Chakra for the bravery, patience, and skillful leadership with which he completed this task and gave India credit for the victory.
5. Poet Mahendra Bhatnagar:- On this day in the year 1926, poet Mahendra Bhatnagar was born in Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh). Mahendra’s early education took place in Jhansi, Murar (Gwalior), and Sabalgarh (Morena). He did his Matriculation from Government School, Murar (Gwalior) in the year 1941, Masters (Hindi) education from Nagpur University in the year 1948, and Ph.D. Received the degree of D. From July 1945, he started teaching. Mahendra Bhatnagar’s poetry journey started in the year 1941 when he was fifteen years old. His first poem is ‘Sukh-Dukh’; Which was published in an issue of the annual magazine ‘Victoria College Magazine’.
6. Politician S. Mallikarjunaiah: – On this day in the year 1931, politician S. Mallikarjunaiah was born. Politician S. Mallikarjunaiah was a member of the 14th Lok Sabha. He was an elected member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) elected from Tumkur in the state of Karnataka.
7. Yogendra Narayan:- On this day in the year 1942, Yogendra Narayan was born in Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh). Yogendra Narayan completed his B.Sc in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from the University of Allahabad. First Class in Political Science and M.A. After passing in the first division, he chose the Indian Administrative Service as his career path. Yogendra Narayan was also the Defense Secretary in the Central Government and Secretary General in the Rajya Sabha.
8. Chemical scientist Govardhan Mehta: – On this day in the year 1943, Indian researcher and chemical scientist Govardhan Mehta was born. Govardhan Mehta obtained his BSc and MSc degrees from BITS Pilani. While Ph.D. from Pune University. He has written more than 400 research papers. Goverdhan Mehta, the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hyderabad, has been awarded Germany’s prestigious ‘Cross of the Order of Merit title. In the year 1951 ‘The Order of Merit of The Federal Republic of Germany’ was established. This is the highest honor given by the Federal Republic of Germany to a person for achievements in politics, economics, social or intellectual fields.
9. Writer Govind Shastri Dugvekar:- On this day in the year 1961, writer Govind Shastri Dugvekar passed away.
10. Famous sage of Digambar sect:- On this day in the year 1967, the famous sage of the Digambar sect Tarun Sagar was born in Guhanchi village in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh. His real name was Pawan Kumar Jain. His father’s name was Pratap Chandra Jain and his mother’s name was Shantibai Jain. From childhood, Tarun Sagar Muni had a great inclination toward spirituality. He was completely different from other Jain sages. Social issues were always discussed in his discourses. People of Jainism used to come to listen to him, but people of other religions also used to listen to his discourses in large numbers. Tarun Sagar Muni used to strongly oppose conservatism, violence, and corruption through discourse.
