रावर पर हमला:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 712 में मुहम्मद बिन कासिम ने सिंध में रावर पर हमला कर हिंदू राजा दाहिर की हत्या की.
तहखाने में कैद:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1756 में नवाब सिराजुद्दौला के सैनिकों ने ब्रिटिश सैनिकों को फोर्ट विलियम के तहखाने में कैद किया.
भारत के गवर्नर-जनरल:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1760 में लॉर्ड वेलेज़ली भारत के गवर्नर-जनरल थे.
सिपाही विद्रोह का आधिकारिक तौर पर समाप्त:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1858 में ग्वालियर किला ब्रिटिश सैनिकों द्वारा कब्जा कर लिया गया इससे पहले भारतीय सिपाही विद्रोह का आधिकारिक तौर पर समाप्त हो गया था.
लक्ष्मण काशीनाथ किर्लोस्कर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1869 में भारत के प्रसिद्ध उद्योगपति किर्लोस्कर उद्योग समूह’ के संस्थापक लक्ष्मण काशीनाथ किर्लोस्कर का जन्म मैसूर के निकट बेलगाँव ज़िले में हुआ था.बचपन मे पढ़ने में मन न लगने के कारण वे मुम्बई के जे.जे. स्कूल ऑफ़ आर्ट में भर्ती हो गए.इसके बाद उन्होंने मैकेनिकल ड्राइंग सीखी और मुम्बई के ‘विक्टोरिया जुबली टेक्निकल इंस्टीट्यूट’ में अध्यापक नियुक्त हो गए.किर्लोस्कर ने जीवन में पहली बार एक व्यक्ति को साइकिल चलाते हुए देखा, तो अपने भाई के साथ मिलकर ‘किर्लोस्कर ब्रदर्स’ नाम से साइकिल की दुकान खोल ली.किर्लोस्कर ने अध्यापक का पद त्याग दिया और छोटा-सा कारख़ाना खोलकर चारा काटने की मशीन और लोहे के हल बनाने लगे. इसी बीच बेलगाँव नगर पालिका के प्रतिबन्धों के कारण उन्हें अपना कारख़ाना महाराष्ट्र लाना पड़ा. यहाँ 32 एकड़ भूमि में उन्होंने ‘किर्लोस्कर वाड़ी’ नाम की औद्यागिक बस्ती की नींव डाली.
विक्टोरिया टर्मिनस (छत्रपति शिवाजी टर्मिनस ):- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1887 में भारत का सबसे व्यस्ततम रेलवे स्टेशन विक्टोरिया टर्मिनस (छत्रपति शिवाजी टर्मिनस) लोगों के लिए खुला.
भुवनेश्वर :- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1910 में हिंदी के प्रसिद्ध एकांकीकार भुवनेश्वर का जन्म शाहजहांपुर (उत्तर प्रदेश) के केरुगंज (खोया मंडी) में एक खाते-पीते परिवार में हुआ था.बचपन में ही माँ की मौत से अचानक परिस्थितियां उनके विपरीत हो गई। इंटरमीडिएट का ये विद्यार्थी शाहजहांपुर को अलविदा करके इलाहाबाद आ गए. उस समय के भुवनेश्वर का बौद्धिक ज्ञान, हिन्दी-अंग्रेजी भाषाओं पर समान अधिकार, इंसानी रिश्तों को समझने का अदभुत नजरिया समकालीन लेखकों के लिए अचरज से कम नहीं था.भुवनेश्वर की साहित्य साधना बहुआयामी थी। कहानी, कविता, एकांकी और समीक्षा सब में उनकी लेखनी एक नए कलेवर का एहसास दिलाती है.
एसएनडीटी महिला विश्वविद्यालय:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1916 में पुणे स्थित एसएनडीटी महिला विश्वविद्यालय की स्थापना हुई थी.
चार महीने की हड़ताल शुरू:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1921 में चेन्नई, भारत शहर में बकिंघम और कर्नाटक मिल्स के श्रमिकों ने चार महीने की हड़ताल शुरू की.
गौर किशोर घोष:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1923 में हिन्दी कुशल पत्रकार तथा लेखक गौर किशोर घोष का जन्म तत्कालीन पूर्वी बंगाल के जैसोर ज़िले के हाट गोपालपुर गाँव में हुआ था. उनके पिता एक डॉक्टर थे और गौर किशोर उनकी सन्तानों में सबसे बड़े और एकमात्र पुत्र थे. किशोर की शिक्षा सिलेहर गाँव में शुरू हुई.पंद्रह वर्ष की आयु में किशोर ‘कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी ऑफ इंडिया’ की छात्र शाखा के सदस्य बन गए.किशोर के पत्रकारिता जीवन की शुरुआत 1947 में तब हुई, जब उन्हें एक नई साहित्यिक साप्ताहिक पत्रिका में प्रूफ़ रीडर का काम मिला.गौर किशोर घोष की प्रतिभा तब सामने आयी, जब वह कलकत्ता की सबसे बड़ी पत्रिका ‘देश’ के लिए एक नियमित स्तम्भ ‘रूपदर्शीरनक्श’ लिखने लगे.
अभिनेत्री सुषमा सेठ:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1936 में भारतीय सिनेमा, टीवी व रंगमंच की अभिनेत्री सुषमा सेठ का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ था. सुषमा सेठ ने अभिनय सफर की शुरुआत 70 के दशक में की थी. उन्होंने सबसे अधिक हिन्दी फिल्मों में नायक के माँ के किरदार निभाये हैं. प्रेम रोग, राम तेरी गंगा मैली, चाँदनी, दीवाना, कभी खुशी कभी गम और कल न न हो जैसी चर्चित फिल्मों में सुषमा ने काम किया है.
क्रिकेटर रमाकांत देसाई:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1939 में क्रिकेटर रमाकांत देसाई का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ था.
हिन्दी साहित्यकार विश्वनाथ प्रसाद तिवारी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1940 में हिन्दी साहित्यकार विश्वनाथ प्रसाद तिवारी का जन्म कुशीनगर के रायपुर भैंसही-भेडिहारी गांव में हुआ था.
श्यामला गोपीनाथ:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1949 में भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक की डिप्टी गवर्नर श्यामला गोपीनाथ का जन्म हुआ था.
कवि विक्रम सेठ:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1952 में साहित्यकार, उपन्यासकार और कवि विक्रम सेठ का जन्म कोलकाता में हुआ था.
राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मू:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1958 में भारतीय जनता पार्टी की राजनीतिज्ञ और राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मू का जन्म ओड़िशा के मयूरभंज जिले के बैदापोसी गांव में एक संथाल परिवार में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम बिरंचि नारायण टुडु था.द्रौपदी मुर्मू ने एक अध्यापिका के रूप में अपना व्यावसायिक जीवन आरम्भ किया. उसके बाद धीरे-धीरे राजनीति में आ गयीं. द्रौपदी मुर्मू ने वर्ष 1997 में राइरंगपुर नगर पंचायत के पार्षद चुनाव में जीत दर्ज कर अपने राजनीतिक जीवन का आरंभ किया था. वर्तमान समय में राष्ट्रपति के रूप में सेवारत एक भारतीय राजनीतिज्ञ हैं. द्रौपदी भारत के राष्ट्रपति के रूप में चुने जाने वाली जनजातीय समुदाय से संबंधित पहली व्यक्ति हैं. मुर्मू, प्रतिभा पाटिल के बाद भारत की राष्ट्रपति के रूप में सेवा करने वाली दूसरी महिला हैं.राष्ट्रपति पद को संभालने वाली ओडिशा की द्वितीय व्यक्ति हैं और देश की सबसे कम उम्र की राष्ट्रपति हैं.
साहित्यकार वेंकटेश नारायण तिवारी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1965 में हिन्दी के ध्वजवाहक, पत्रकार और साहित्यकार वेंकटेश नारायण तिवारी का निधन हुआ था.
सीटीबीटी पर हस्ताक्षर करने से इंकार:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1965 में भारत सरकार ने जिनेवा सम्मेलन में सीटीबीटी पर हस्ताक्षर करने से इंकार कर दिया था.
सलीम अली (सालिम मुईनुद्दीन अब्दुल अली ) :- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1987 में सलीम अली (भारत के बर्डमैन) का निधन हुआ था. सलीम एक भारतीय पक्षी विज्ञानी और प्रकृतिवादी थे. सलीम को लोग “भारत के बर्डमैन” के रूप से भी जानते हैं.
पाँचवीं फ़्रैकफ़र्ट क्लासिक शतरंज टूर्नामेंट:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1998 में विश्वनाथन आनंद ने ब्लादीमीर कैमनिक को हराकर पाचवीं फ़्रैकफ़र्ट क्लासिक शतरंज टूर्नामेंट का ख़िताब जीता.
सर्वाधिक वायु प्रदूषण:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1999 में दुनिया के सर्वाधिक वायु प्रदूषण वाले शहरों में कलकत्ता का भी नाम शामिल हो गया. इन पांच शहरों के नाम हैं… मैक्सिको सिटी, पेइचिंग, शंघाई, तेहरान और कलकत्ता.
संवैधानिकता प्रदान करने का प्रयास:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2001 में भारत-पाक शिखर वार्ता को संवैधानिकता प्रदान करने का प्रयास किया गया.
सोयाबीन बीज के क़ारोबार का अधिग्रहण:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2008 में बीज बनाने वाली कम्पनी अवदात इण्डिया लिमिटेड ने अमेरिकी कम्पनी लिमाग्रेन के सोयाबीन बीज के क़ारोबार का अधिग्रहण किया.
ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2014 में कवि केदारनाथ सिंह को ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार देने की घोषणा की गई.

JJ Admitted to the School of Art. After this, he learned mechanical drawing and was appointed as a teacher at ‘Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute’ in Mumbai. For the first time in his life, Kirloskar saw a person riding a bicycle, then together with his brother. Kirloskar Brothers opened a bicycle shop. Kirloskar left the post of teacher and started making fodder-cutting machines and iron plows by opening a small factory. Meanwhile, due to the restrictions of Belgaum Municipality, he had to bring his factory to Maharashtra. Here on 32 acres of land, he laid the foundation of an industrial township named ‘Kirloskar Wadi’.

Bhubaneshwar:- On this day in the year 1910, the famous Hindi one-act artist Bhubaneshwar was born in Keruganj (Khoya Mandi) of Shahjahanpur (Uttar Pradesh) in a well-to-do family. Due to the death of his mother in his childhood, sudden circumstances turned the opposite. This intermediate student left Shahjahanpur and came to Allahabad. Bhubaneshwar’s intellectual knowledge of that time, equal authority in Hindi-English languages, and amazing vision of understanding human relationships were no less than surprising for contemporary writers. Bhubaneshwar’s literary practice was multifaceted. His writing in story, poem, one-act, and review gives a feeling of a new style.

Gaur Kishore Ghosh:- On this day in the year 1923, Hindi skilled journalist and writer Gaur Kishore Ghosh was born in Haat Gopalpur village of Jessore district of then East Bengal. His father was a doctor and Gaur Kishore was the eldest and only son of his children. Kishor’s education began in Silehar village. At the age of fifteen, Kishor became a member of the student wing of the ‘Communist Party of India’.
