- औरंगजेब के हवाले:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1659 में दादर के बलूची प्रमुख जीवन खान ने धोखे से मुगल शहजादे दारा शिकोह को औरंगजेब के हवाले कर दिया.
- सेना नायक बन्दा सिंह:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1716 में सेना नायक बन्दा सिंह बहादुर का निधन हुआ था.
- आत्मसमर्पण किया:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1752 में फ्रांसीसी सेना ने भारत के त्रिचिनोपोली क्षेत्र में ब्रिटिश सेना के समक्ष आत्मसमर्पण किया.
- लोकनायक बिरसा मुंडा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1900 में आदिवासी नेता और लोकनायक बिरसा मुंडा का निधन हुआ था. मुण्डा एक भारतीय आदिवासी स्वतंत्रता सेनानी और मुंडा जनजाति के लोक नायक थे. उन्होंने ब्रिटिश राज के दौरान 19वीं शताब्दी के अंत में बंगाल प्रेसीडेंसी (अब झारखंड) में हुए एक आदिवासी धार्मिक सहस्राब्दी आंदोलन का नेतृत्व किया. भारत के आदिवासी उन्हें भगवान मानते हैं.
- लक्ष्मण प्रसाद दुबे:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1909 में छत्तीसगढ़ के स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों में से एक लक्ष्मण प्रसाद दुबे का जन्म छत्तीसगढ़ स्थित दुर्ग ज़िले के दाढी गांव में हुआ था. वे गांव में प्राथमिक शिक्षा ग्रहण करने के बाद बेमेतरा से उच्चतर माध्यमिक व शिक्षक प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त कर शिक्षकीय कार्य में जुट गये. उनकी पहली नियमित पद स्थापना वर्ष 1929 में भिलाई के माध्यमिक स्कूल में हुई थी. ज्योतिष के विद्वान लक्ष्मण प्रसाद दुबे ने यूनानी चिकित्सा व वैद विशारद की परिक्षा भी पास की थी एवं शिक्षा के साथ चिकित्सा कार्य भी किया.भिलाई में शिक्षक के रूप में कार्य करते हुए लक्ष्मण प्रसाद का संपर्क ज़िले के वरिष्ठ सत्याग्रही नरसिंह प्रसाद अग्रवाल से हुआ।. उस समय किशोर व युवजन के अग्रवाल जी आदर्श थे। उनके मार्गदर्शन व आदेश से लक्ष्मण प्रसाद जी भिलाई में अपने साथियों एवं छात्रों के साथ मिलकर ‘मद्य निषेध आंदोलन’ व ‘विदेशी वस्त्र आंदोलन’ को हवा देने लगे.स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन को जीवंत रखने के लिए द्वितीय पंक्ति के सत्याग्रहियों को अपना दायित्व निभाना था, अत: लक्ष्मण प्रसाद दुबे अपने गांधीवादी नरम रवैये से शिक्षकीय कार्य करते रहे.जंगल सत्याग्रह की रणनीति में माहिर लक्ष्मण प्रसाद दुबे जी के लिए यह स्थान बालोद जैसा ही रहा, क्योंकि यह स्थान जंगलों के बीच है, अत: वे वहां अपने मूल कार्य के साथ पैदल गांव-गांव का दौरा कर सत्याग्रह का पाठ पढ़ाते रहे. रायपुर के प्रमुख सक्रिय स्वतंत्रता संग्राम सेनानी मोतीलाल जी त्रिपाठी से पारिवारिक संबंधों का लाभ इन्हें मिलता रहा और लक्ष्मंण प्रसाद दुबे घुर जंगल क्षेत्र में स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन की लौ जलाते रहे. लक्ष्मण प्रसाद दुबे शिक्षक जीवन से अवकाश प्राप्त करने के बाद सक्रिय राजनीति में जनपद पंचायत बेमेतरा के सदस्य रहे. उन्होंने दुर्ग ज़िला कांग्रेस की सदस्यता वर्ष 1930 में ग्रहण की थी. वर्ष 1942 से 1947 तक ज़िला कांग्रेस के कार्यकारिणी सदस्य के रूप में उन्होंनें कार्य किया.
- संगीतकार वसन्त देसाई :- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1912 में सिनेमा जगत् के संगीतकार वसन्त देसाई का जन्म गोवा के कुदाल नामक स्थान पर हुआ था. उनको बचपन के दिनों से ही संगीत के प्रति रूचि थी. वर्ष 1929 में बसंत देसाई महाराष्ट्र से कोल्हापुर आ गए थे.वर्ष 1930 में उन्हें ‘प्रभात फ़िल्म्स’ की मूक फ़िल्म “खूनी खंजर” में अभिनय करने का मौका मिला.इन सबके साथ ही उन्होंने इस फ़िल्म में एक गाना “जय जय राजाधिराज” भी गाया. इस बीच वसन्त फ़िल्म इंडस्ट्री में अपनी पहचान बनाने के लिए संघर्ष करते रहे. वर्ष 1934 में प्रदर्शित फ़िल्म “अमृत मंथन” में गाया उनका यह गीत “बरसन लगी” श्रोताओं के बीच काफ़ी लोकप्रिय हुआ.वर्ष 1957 में वसन्त देसाई के संगीत निर्देशन में “दो आँखें बारह हाथ” का गीत ऐ मालिक तेरे बंदे हम आज भी श्रोताओं के बीच काफ़ी लोकप्रिय है. इस गीत की लोकप्रियता का अंदाजा इस बात से लगाया जा सकता है कि पंजाब सरकार ने इस गीत को सभी विद्यालयों में प्रात:कालीन प्रार्थना सभा में शामिल कर लिया.
- चौधरी दिगम्बर सिंह:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1913 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी चौधरी दिगम्बर सिंह का जन्म कुरसण्डा तहसील सादाबाद ज़िला मथुरा (कुरसण्डा अब हाथरस ज़िले में है) के एक ज़मींदार परिवार में हुआ.
- मुख्यमंत्री तथा लेखिका नंदिनी सत्पथी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1931 में उड़ीसा की महिला मुख्यमंत्री तथा लेखिका नंदिनी सत्पथी का जन्म उड़ीसा के कटक ज़िले में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम कालिंदी चरण पाणिग्रही था.नंदिनी के चाचा भगवती चरण पाणिग्रही ने भारत की कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी की उड़ीसा शाखा की स्थापना की थी. नंदिनी का विवाह देवेन्द्र सत्पथी के साथ हुआ था. भारत के प्रमुख राजनैतिक दल ‘भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस’ से नंदिनी सत्पथी जुड़ी हुई थीं. देश की प्रसिद्ध महिला राजनीतिज्ञों में नंदिनी सत्पथी का नाम लिया जाता है. नंदिनी सत्पथी 14 जून, 1972 से 16 दिसम्बर, 1976 तक उड़ीसा राज्य की मुख्यमंत्री भी रहीं.
- स्वतंत्रता सेनानी हरि किशन सरहदी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1931 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी हरि किशन सरहदी का निधन हुआ था.
- उपन्यासकार अजित शंकर चौधरी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1933 में कवि, संस्मरणकार, कहानीकार, उपन्यासकार तथा सहृदय समीक्षक अजित शंकर चौधरी का जन्म लखनऊ में हुआ था. अजित को साहित्यिक परिवेश विरासत में मिला था. उनके पिता प्रकाशन चलाते थे, जिसने निराला की पुस्तकें छापीं. मां सुमित्रा कुमारी सिन्हा स्वयं महत्वपूर्ण कवयित्री थीं.

- प्रथम महिला आइ.पी.एस किरण बेदी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1949 में भारत की प्रथम महिला आइ.पी.एस किरण बेदी का जन्म अमृतसर में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम प्रकाश ला पेशावरिया और मां प्रेमलता थीं. किरण की चार बहनें भी हैं. किरण को बचपन में किमी के नाम से भी जाना जाता था. उनका परिवार पेशावर का रहने वाला था लेकिन वर्ष 1860 में किरण के परदादा लाला हरगोबिंद पेशावरिया पेशावर से अमृतसर आ गए थे.सेक्रेड हार्ट कॉन्वेंट स्कूल से शुरुआती शिक्षा हासिल की. उसके बाद पंजाब यूनिवर्सिटी से पॉलिटिकल साइंस में मास्टर्स डिग्री हासिल की. उसके बाद दिल्ली यूनिवर्सिटी से किरण बेदी ने कानून की डिग्री से एलएलबी की पढ़ाई पूरी और वर्ष 1993 में आईआईटी दिल्ली से समाज विज्ञान विभाग से पीएचडी की उपाधि हासिल की. किरण ने वर्ष 1970 में अपने करियर की शुरुआत अमृतसर के खालसा कॉलेज से बतौर लेक्चरर की थी. लेकिन, वर्ष 1972 में उनकी शादी के कुछ महीनों बाद ही किरण जुलाई में आईपीएस की ट्रेनिंग के लिए चली गईं.
- भारत के दूसरे प्रधानमंत्री:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1964 में लाल बहादुर शास्त्री भारत के दूसरे प्रधानमंत्री बने. लाल बहादुर शास्त्री 9 जून 1964 से 11 जनवरी 1966 को अपनी मृत्यु तक लगभग अठारह महीने भारत के प्रधानमन्त्री रहे. इस दौरान उनका कार्यकाल अद्वितीय रहा.
