- गुरु अर्जन देव:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1606 में सिक्खों के पाँचवें गुरु अर्जन देव का निधन हुआ था.
- उदंत मार्तंड:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1826 में कलकत्ता (अब कोलकाता) से शुरू हुआ उदंत मार्तंड (द राइजिंग सन) भारत में प्रकाशित होने वाला पहला हिंदी भाषा का समाचार पत्र था. इसलिए 30 मई को हिन्दी पत्रकारिता दिवस भी मनाया जाता है.
- दार-उल-उलूम:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1867 में उत्तर प्रदेश के देवबंद में दार-उल-उलूम की स्थापना हुई.
- ‘सर’ की उपाधि वापस की:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1919 में रवीन्द्रनाथ टैगोर ने जालियांवाला बाग नरसंहार के विरोध में ‘सर’ की उपाधि वापस की.
- सितार वादक देबू चौधरी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1935 में सितार वादक देबू चौधरी का जन्म हुआ था. उन्होंने छः पुस्तकें लिखी थी और आठ नये राग निर्मित करने सहित विभिन्न संगीतों की रचना की थी.
- उद्योगपति जगमोहन डालमिया:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1940 में उद्योगपति जगमोहन डालमिया का जन्म कोलकाता के मारवाड़ी बनिया परिवार में हुआ था. डालमिया कलकत्ता के स्कोटिश चर्च महाविद्यालय से शिक्षा प्राप्त की. इसके बाद यह अपने पिता के एम एल डालमिया कंपनी से जुड़ गए. डालमिया वर्ष 1979 में बीसीसीआई से जुड़े और 1983 में इसके कोषाध्यक्ष बन गए. इसी वर्ष भारत विश्व कप जीता था इसके बाद यह इन्दरजीत सिंह बिंद्रा के साथ मिलकर दक्षिण एशिया में होने वाले विश्व कप अधिकार प्राप्त कर लिया. इसके बाद यह बीसीसीआई के अध्यक्ष पद हेतु चुनाव भी लड़े.
- मुख्यमंत्री वी.नारायणसामी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1947 में पुदुचेरी के 10वें मुख्यमंत्री वी. नारायणसामी का जन्म पांडिचेरी, पुडुचेरी हुआ था.
- परेश रावल:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1950 में अभिनेता परेश रावल का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ था. रावल ने अभिनय की शुरूआत वर्ष 1984 में की थी. तब यह होली नामक फ़िल्म में एक सहायक किरदार निभाया था.रावल को सर्वश्रेष्ठ फिल्म पुरस्कार, सर्वश्रेष्ठ कॉमेडियन और लीड रोल के लिए फिल्मफेयर पुरस्कार, सहायक भूमिका मिली है.
- एन. एम. जोशी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1955 में ‘ट्रेड यूनियन आंदोलन’ के जन्मदाता एन. एम. जोशी का निधन हुआ था. एम.एम. जोशी ‘ऑल इण्डिया ट्रेड यूनियन कांग्रेस’ में लम्बे समय तक नरमपंथी वर्ग का नेतृत्व करते रहे. नारायण मल्हार जोशी 1947 ई. में ‘केन्द्रीय वेतन आयोग’ के एक सदस्य भी रहे.
- साउंड एडिटर रेसुल पुकुट्टी :- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1971 में साउंड एडिटर रेसुल पुकुट्टी का जन्म हुआ था.
- अभिनेत्री जेनिफर विंगेट :- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1985 में अभिनेत्री जेनिफर विंगेट का जन्म गोरेगांव मुंबई महाराष्ट्र में हुआ था. इनके पिता “हेमंत विंगेट” रिलायंस कंपनी के प्रमुख कर्मचारी रहे है और इनकी माता प्रभा विंगेट एक ग्रहणी है. इन्होंने अपनी प्रारंभिक शिक्षा अपने गृह नगर यवतमाल में “सेंट जेवियर्स हाई स्कूल” से की. उसके पश्चात उन्होंने “केजी सुमन जूनियर कॉलेज ऑफ साइंस” से कॉमर्स में स्नातक किया. साथ ही अपने अभिनय करियर पर भी फोकस करने लगी. जेनिफर विंगेट फिल्म व टेलीविजन इंडस्ट्री से कई सालों से जुड़ी हुई है. अतः वह लगातार अभिनय करती आ रही हैं. जेनिफर एक बहुत ही खूबसूरत महिला हैं. और इस खूबसूरती तथा फिटनेस को मेंटेन रखने के लिए वह कई प्रकार के कार्य करती हैं .
- 25 वाँ राज्य बना:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1987 में गोवा भारत का 25 वाँ राज्य बना. गोवा भारत के दक्षिण पश्चिम क्षेत्र में स्थित एक राज्य है, यह महाराष्ट्र के उत्तर में उत्तर और पूर्व और दक्षिण में कर्नाटक से घिरा है, जबकि अरब सागर इसका पश्चिमी तट बनाता है. यह क्षेत्रफल के हिसाब से भारत का सबसे छोटा और जनसंख्या के हिसाब से चौथा सबसे छोटा राज्य है. बताते चलें कि, 450 वर्षों से, गोवा और दादरा और नागर हवेली के साथ अरब सागर के तट पर दमन और दीव के तटीय विस्तार पुर्तगाली भारत का हिस्सा थे. गोवा, दमन और दीव को सैन्य विजय द्वारा भारत गणराज्य में शामिल किया गया.
- उमाशंकर दीक्षित:- ‘भारतीय स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन’ के पुरोधा एवं मानवता के पुजारी और राष्ट्रवाद के अग्रदूत उमाशंकर दीक्षित का निधन हुआ था. दीक्षित बी.ए. प्रथम वर्ष के छात्र थे, तभी ‘असहयोग आन्दोलन’ में सम्मिलित हो गए थे. वे गणेश शंकर विद्यार्थी के सहयोगी थे. उन जीवन पर स्वामी विवेकानन्द, रामतीर्थ और गांधीजी के विचारों का गहरा प्रभाव था. जेल यात्राओं में स्वाध्याय से उन्होंने विविध विषयों का पर्याप्त ज्ञान प्राप्त कर लिया था. मोतीलाल नेहरू और जवाहरलाल नेहरू से उनका निकट का सम्बन्ध था.
- रेंज बैलिस्टिक मिसाइल:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1992 में अग्नि- भारत की IRB मिसाइल ने पहली बार उड़ीसा तट से सफलतापूर्वक परीक्षण किया. अग्नि मिसाइल, भारत द्वारा विकसित मध्यम से अंतरमहाद्वीपीय रेंज बैलिस्टिक मिसाइलों का एक परिवार है, जिसका नाम प्रकृति के पांच तत्वों में से एक है. अग्नि मिसाइल लंबी दूरी की, परमाणु हथियार हैं जो सतह से सतह पर मार करने वाली बैलिस्टिक मिसाइल हैं.
- आलोचक, निबंधकार, विचारक एवं कवि रामविलास शर्मा:- आधुनिक हिन्दी साहित्य में सुप्रसिद्ध आलोचक, निबंधकार, विचारक एवं कवि रामविलास शर्मा का निधन हुआ था. शर्मा के साहित्यिक जीवन का आरंभ 1934 से होता है जब वह सूर्यकांत त्रिपाठी ‘निराला’ के संपर्क में आये. इसी वर्ष उन्होंने अपना प्रथम आलोचनात्मक लेख ‘निरालाजी की कविता’ लिखा जो चर्चित पत्रिका ‘चाँद’ में प्रकाशित हुआ. इसके बाद वे निरंतर सृजन की ओर उन्मुख रहे.शर्मा का लेखन बहुआयामी है. मुख्य रूप से साहित्य के आलोचक होते हुए भी उन्होंने भाषाविज्ञान, इतिहास तथा समाज एवं संस्कृति के सन्दर्भों में सुविस्तीर्ण लेखन किया है.
- तीन स्टील इकाईयों का अधिग्रहण:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2008 में सुजाना मेटल प्रोडक्ट लिमिटेड ने विशाखापट्टनम में 180 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से तीन स्टील इकाईयों का अधिग्रहण किया.
- विश्व शतरंज चैंपियन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2012 में विश्वनाथन आनंद पाँचवीं बार विश्व शतरंज चैंपियन बने.
- अभिनेता ऋतुपर्णो घोष :- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2013 में बंगाली फ़िल्मों के प्रसिद्ध निर्देशक, लेखक और अभिनेता ऋतुपर्णो घोष का निधन हुआ था. अर्थशास्त्र में डिग्री प्राप्त करने उपरान्त उन्होंने विज्ञापन एजेंसी में एक रचनात्मक कलाकार के रूप में अपना कैरियर शुरू किया. वर्ष 1994 में उनकी पहली फिल्म हीरेर अंगति रिलीज हुई। उसी वर्ष पर्दे पर आयी उनकी अगली फिल्म उनिशे अप्रैल को सर्वश्रेष्ठ फीचर फिल्म के लिये राष्ट्रीय फ़िल्म पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया.

India won the World Cup in the same year, after which it along with Inderjit Singh Bindra got the World Cup rights to be held in South Asia. After this, he contested for the post of President of BCCI.
