- सामुगढ़ की लड़ाई:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1658 में औरंगजेब ने सामुगढ़ की लड़ाई में दारा शिकोह को पराजित किया. दारा शुकोह को आगरा के पास सामूगढ़ की लड़ाई में औरंगजेब द्वारा पूरी तरह से हराया गया था. दारा शिकोह का बड़ा बेटा और पाँचवाँ मुगल सम्राट शाहजहाँ का उत्तराधिकारी था. वह अपने पिता और उसकी बहन राजकुमारी जहाँआरा बेगम साहिब के उत्तराधिकारी के रूप में इष्ट थे, लेकिन उनके छोटे भाई प्रिंस मुहिउद्दीन ने शाही सिंहासन के लिए एक कड़वे संघर्ष में पराजित किया.
- पत्रकार रामानन्द चैटर्जी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1865 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी, पत्रकार रामानन्द चैटर्जी का जन्म बांकुड़ा ज़िला, बंगाल में हुआ था. उन्होंने कलकत्ता विश्वविद्यालय से सन 1890 में अंग्रेज़ी में स्नात्तकोत्तर परीक्षा प्रथम श्रेणी में उत्तीण की थी. वे आचार्य जगदीश चन्द्र बोस तथा शिवनाथ शास्त्री से अत्यन्त प्रभावित थे. उनके सामने इंग्लैंड जाकर आगे अध्ययन करने का प्रस्ताव भी आया, पर रामानंद ने उसे स्वीकार नहीं किया. तब तक उन पर ब्रह्म समाज का प्रभाव पड़ चुका था. रामानन्द पत्रकारिता जगत के एक पुरोगामी शख्सियत थे। वे कोलकाता से प्रकाशित पत्रिका ‘मॉडर्न रिव्यू’ के संस्थापक, संपादक एवं मालिक थे। उन्हें “भारतीय पत्रकारिता का जनक” माना जाता है। पत्रकारिता के क्षेत्र में उन्होंने विशेष रूप से कार्य किया। इसके अतिरिक्त उन्होंने अध्यापक और प्राचार्य के पद पर काम किया था.
- दलितों या समुदाय के निम्न जाति के लोगों के अधिकारों के लिए:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1933 में गांधी ने ‘अछूतों’ के कारण अपना 21 दिन का उपवास समाप्त किया. वह दलितों या समुदाय के निम्न जाति के लोगों के अधिकारों के लिए लड़ रहे थे, जिन्हें अछूत माना जाता था और उन्हें पवित्र स्थानों में प्रवेश करने से रोक दिया गया था, उन्होंने अछूतों के लिए हरिजन शब्द गढ़ा.
- स्वतंत्रता सेनानी लोकराम नयनराम शर्मा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1933 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी, पत्रकार और संगठनकर्त्ता लोकराम नयनराम शर्मा का निधन हुआ था.
- कवि मदन कश्यप:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1954 में कवि मदन कश्यप का जन्म वैशाली, बिहार में हुआ था. मदन कश्यप जितने प्रेम के कवि हैं, उतने ही प्रकृति, जीवन राग व संघर्ष के कवि भी हैं.वर्ष 2015 में उन्हें उनकी कृति ‘दूर दूर तक चुप्पी एवं अपना ही देश’ के लिये ‘केदार सम्मान’ से सम्मानित किया गया था.
- व्यंग्य कवि हुल्लड़ मुरादाबादी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1942 में व्यंग्य कवि हुल्लड़ मुरादाबादी का जन्म गुजरावाला, पाकिस्तान में हुआ था. बंटवारे के दौरान परिवार के साथ मुरादाबाद, उत्तर प्रदेश आ गए थे इनका वास्तविक नाम सुशील कुमार चड्ढा था. शुरुआत में उन्होंने वीर रस की कविताएं लिखी लेकिन कुछ समय बाद ही हास्य रचनाओं की ओर उनका रुझान हो गया और हुल्लड़ की हास्य रचनाओं से कवि मंच गुलजार होने लगे. सन १९६२ में उन्होंने ‘सब्र’ उप नाम से हिंदी काव्य मंच पर अपनी उपस्थिति दर्ज कराई. बाद में वह हुल्लड़ मुरादाबादी के नाम से देश दुनिया में पहचाने गए.
- पृथ्वीराज कपूर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1972 में अभिनेता और पृथ्वी थियेटर के संस्थापक पृथ्वीराज कपूर का निधन हुआ था. पृथ्वीराज ने पेशावर पाकिस्तान के एडवर्ड कालेज से स्नातक की शिक्षा प्राप्त की. उन्होंने एक साल तक कानून की शिक्षा भी प्राप्त की जिसके बाद उनका थियेटर की दुनिया में प्रवेश हुआ. वर्ष 1928 में उनका मुंबई आगमन हुआ. कुछ एक मूक फ़िल्मों में काम करने के बाद उन्होंने भारत की पहली बोलनेवाली फ़िल्म आलम आरा में मुख्य भूमिका निभाई. हिंदी सिनेमा जगत एवं भारतीय रंगमंच के प्रमुख स्तंभों में गिने जाते हैं. पृथ्वीराज ने बतौर अभिनेता मूक फ़िल्मो से अपना करियर शुरू किया. उन्हें भारतीय जन नाट्य संघ (इप्टा) के संस्थापक सदस्यों में से एक होने का भी गौरव हासिल है. पृथ्वीराज ने सन् 1944 में मुंबई में पृथ्वी थिएटर की स्थापना की, जो देश भर में घूम-घूमकर नाटकों का प्रदर्शन करता था. इन्हीं से कपूर ख़ानदान की भी शुरुआत भारतीय सिनेमा जगत में होती है.
- विद्याशास्त्री सुनीति कुमार चटर्जी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1977 में भाषाविद, साहित्यकार तथा विद्याशास्त्री सुनीति कुमार चटर्जी का निधन हुआ था.
- राजनीतिज्ञ और अधिवक्ता एल. मुरुगन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1977 में भारतीय जनता पार्टी के राजनीतिज्ञ और अधिवक्ता एल. मुरुगन का जन्म हुआ था.
- चौधरी चरण सिंह:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1987 में भारत के पाँचवें प्रधानमंत्री, जो किसानों की आवाज़ बुलन्द करने वाले प्रखर नेता चौधरी चरण सिंह का निधन हुआ था. कांग्रेस के लौहर अधिवेशन में पूर्ण स्वराज का प्रस्ताव पारित हुआ था, जिससे प्रभावित होकर युवा चौधरी चरण सिंह राजनीति में सक्रिय हो गए. उन्होंने गाजियाबाद में कांग्रेस कमेटी का गठन किया. 1930 में जब महात्मा गांधी ने सविनय अवज्ञा आंदोलन का आह्वान किया तो उन्होंने हिंडन नदी पर नमक बनाकर उनका साथ दिया. जिसके लिए उन्हें जेल भी जाना पड़ा. वो किसानों के नेता माने जाते रहे हैं. उनके द्वारा तैयार किया गया जमींदारी उन्मूलन विधेयक राज्य के कल्याणकारी सिद्धांत पर आधारित था. एक जुलाई 1952 को यूपी में उनके बदौलत जमींदारी प्रथा का उन्मूलन हुआ और गरीबों को अधिकार मिला. उन्होंने लेखापाल के पद का सृजन भी किया. किसानों के हित में उन्होंने 1954 में उत्तर प्रदेश भूमि संरक्षण कानून को पारित कराया.
- कर्नाटक के मुख्यमंत्री:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2008 में भारतीय जनता पार्टी के नेता वीएस येदुरप्पा ने कर्नाटक के मुख्यमंत्री के रूप में 2008 को शपथ ली.
- परमाणु ईंधन की रिप्रोसेसिंग:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2008 में अमेरिका और भारत के बीच सितंबर 2008 में हुए 123 अग्रीमेंट में छोड़ दिए गए परमाणु ईंधन की रिप्रोसेसिंग के पहलू पर अमेरिकी प्रशासन ने सहमति का ऐलान 2010 में किया.
- बौद्ध मंदिर का लोकार्पण:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2010 में भारत की राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा पाटिल ने हेनान प्रांत के लुओयांग में पहली सदी के प्राचीन श्वेताश्व व्हाइट हार्स मंदिर परिसर में भारतीय शैली से निर्मित एक बौद्ध मंदिर का लोकार्पण किया. भारत की ओर से बनाये गये इस मंदिर पर क़रीब 18 करोड़ रुपये की लागत आयी थी. जबकि इसके निर्माण में तीन वर्ष लगे थे.
- राजनीतिज्ञ अजीत जोगी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2020 में भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के राजनीतिज्ञ व राजनेता अजीत जोगी का निधन हुआ था. जोगी छत्तीसगढ़ के प्रथम मुख्यमंत्री भी थे.बिलासपुर के पेंड्रा में जन्में अजीत जोगी ने इंजीनियरिंग की पढ़ाई करने के बाद पहले भारतीय पुलिस सेवा और फिर भारतीय प्रशासनिक की नौकरी की. बाद में वे मध्यप्रदेश के तत्कालीन मुख्यमंत्री अर्जुन सिंह के सुझाव पर राजनीति में आये.
- गीतकार और लेखक योगेश:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2020 में गीतकार और लेखक योगेश का निधन हुआ था. उन्हें आनंद (1971) के “कहीं दूर जब दीन ढल जाय” और “जिंदगी कैसी है पहेली” जैसे गीतों के लिए सबसे अच्छी तरह से जाना जाता है.

- Battle of Samugarh:- On this day in the year 1658, Aurangzeb defeated Dara Shikoh in the Battle of Samugarh. Dara Shukoh was completely defeated by Aurangzeb in the Battle of Samugarh near Agra. Dara was the eldest son of Shikoh and the successor of the fifth Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. He was favored as successor by his father and his sister Princess Jahanara Begum Sahib but was defeated in a bitter struggle for the imperial throne by his younger brother, Prince Muhiuddin.
- Journalist Ramanand Chatterjee:- On this day in the year 1865, freedom fighter, and journalist Ramanand Chatterjee was born in Bankura district, Bengal. In 1890, he passed the post-graduate examination in English from Calcutta University in first class. He was greatly influenced by Acharya Jagdish Chandra Bose and Shivnath Shastri. An offer also came in front of him to go to England to study further, but Ramanand did not accept it. By then the Brahmo Samaj had already influenced him. Ramanand was a pioneering figure in the world of journalism. He was the founder, editor, and owner of the magazine ‘Modern Review’ published in Kolkata. He is considered the “Father of Indian Journalism”. He worked exclusively in the field of journalism. Apart from this, he worked as a teacher and principal.
- For the rights of Dalits or low caste people of the community:- On this day in the year 1933, Gandhi ended his 21-day fast for the cause of ‘untouchables’. He was fighting for the rights of Dalits or low caste people of the community, who were considered untouchables and were barred from entering holy places, he coined the term Harijan for the untouchables.
- Freedom fighter Lokram Nayanram Sharma:- On this day in the year 1933, freedom fighter, journalist, and organizer Lokram Nayanram Sharma passed away.
- Poet Madan Kashyap:- On this day in the year 1954, poet Madan Kashyap was born in Vaishali, Bihar. As much as Madan Kashyap is a poet of love, he is equally a poet of nature, life’s passion, and struggle. In the year 2015, he was honored with ‘Kedar Samman’ for his work ‘Dur Door Tak Chuppi Aur Apna Hi Desh’.
- Satirical poet Hullad Moradabadi:- On this day in the year 1942, satirical poet Hullad Moradabadi was born in Gujranwala, Pakistan. During partition, he came to Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh with his family, his real name was Sushil Kumar Chadha. In the beginning, he wrote the poems of Veer Ras, but after some time he got inclined towards comic compositions and poets started buzzing with Hullad’s comic compositions. In the year 1962, he registered his presence on the Hindi poetry stage under the name ‘Sabra’. Later he was recognized in the country and the world by the name of Hullad Moradabadi.
- Prithviraj Kapoor:- On this day in the year 1972, actor and founder of Prithvi Theater Prithviraj Kapoor passed away. Prithviraj did his graduation from Edward College, Peshawar, Pakistan. He also studied law for a year, after which he entered the world of theatre. He arrived in Mumbai in 1928. After working in a few silent films, he played the lead role in India’s first talkie film Alam Ara. Hindi cinema is counted among the main pillars of the world and Indian theatre. Prithviraj started his career as an actor in silent films. He also has the distinction of being one of the founding members of the Indian People’s Theater Association (IPTA). Prithviraj established Prithvi Theater in Mumbai in 1944, which used to perform plays across the country. This is also the beginning of the Kapoor family in the Indian cinema world.
- Educationist Suniti Kumar Chatterjee:- On this day in the year 1977, linguist, litterateur, and educationist Suniti Kumar Chatterjee passed away.
- Politician and advocate L.K. Murugan: – On this day in the year 1977, Bharatiya Janata Party politician and advocate L. Murugan was born.
- Chaudhary Charan Singh:- On this day in the year 1987, the fifth Prime Minister of India, Chaudhary Charan Singh, a fierce leader who raised the voice of the farmers, passed away. In the Lohar session of the Congress, the resolution of complete Swaraj was passed, due to which young Chaudhary Charan Singh became active in politics. He formed the Congress Committee in Ghaziabad. In 1930, when Mahatma Gandhi called for the Civil Disobedience Movement, he supported him by making salt on the Hindon River. For which he also had to go to jail. He has been considered the leader of the farmers. The Zamindari Abolition Bill prepared by him was based on the welfare principle of the state. Due to him, on July 1, 1952, the Zamindari system was abolished in UP and the poor got their rights. He also created the post of Accountant. In the interest of farmers, he passed the Uttar Pradesh Land Conservation Act in 1954.

- Reprocessing of nuclear fuel: – On this day in the year 2008, in the 123 agreement signed between the US and India in September 2008, the US administration announced the consent in 2010 on the aspect of reprocessing abandoned nuclear fuel.
- Inauguration of Buddhist Temple: – On this day in the year 2010, President of India Pratibha Patil inaugurated a Buddhist temple built in Indian style in the ancient Shvetashva White Horse temple complex of the first century in Luoyang, Henan province. The cost of this temple built by India was about 18 crore rupees. While its construction took three years.
- Politician Ajit Jogi: – On this day in the year 2020, Indian National Congress politician and politician Ajit Jogi passed away. Jogi was also the first Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh. Born in Pendra, Bilaspur, Ajit Jogi, after studying engineering, first worked in the Indian Police Service and then in the Indian Administrative Service. Later he entered politics at the suggestion of the then Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Arjun Singh.
