- सैय्यद अहमद खान:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1875 में सैय्यद अहमद खान ने अलीगढ़ में मुहम्मदीन एंग्लो ओरिएंटल स्कूल की स्थापना की जो वर्तमान में अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय के नाम से प्रसिद्ध है.
- करतार सिंह सराभा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1896 में भारत के प्रसिद्ध क्रान्तिकारियों में से एक करतार सिंह सराभा का जन्म हुआ था.
- काज़ी नज़रुल इस्लाम:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1899 में बंगाल के प्रसिद्ध बांग्ला कवि, संगीत सम्राट, संगीतज्ञ और दार्शनिक काज़ी नज़रुल इस्लाम का जन्म हुआ था. नज़रुल का जन्म आसनसोल जिले के गाँव चुरुलिया में एक दरिद्र मुसलिम परिवार में हुआ था.
- प्रतापचंद्र मज़ूमदार:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1905 में ब्रह्मसमाज के प्रसिद्ध नेता प्रतापचंद्र मज़ूमदार का निधन हुआ था.
- पूर्व ‘भारतीय विदेश सचिव’ रंजन मथाई:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1952 में भारत के पूर्व ‘भारतीय विदेश सचिव’ रंजन मथाई का जन्म तिरुवला, केरल में हुआ था.
- प्रथम भारतीय महिला बछेंद्री पाल:- बछेंद्री पाल का जन्म आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1954 में उत्तरकाशी जिले के नकुरी गाँव हुआ था. खेतिहर परिवार में जन्मी बछेंद्री ने बी.एड. तक की पढ़ाई पूरी की. मेधावी और प्रतिभाशाली होने के बावजूद उन्हें कोई अच्छा रोज़गार नहीं मिला.उन्होंने नौकरी करने के बजाय ‘नेहरू इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ माउंटेनियरिंग’ कोर्स के लिये आवेदन कर दिया. यहाँ से बछेंद्री के जीवन को नई राह मिली. बछेंद्री पाल के लिए पर्वतारोहण का पहला मौक़ा 12 साल की उम्र में आया, जब उन्होंने अपने स्कूल की सहपाठियों के साथ 400 मीटर की चढ़ाई की.
- बौद्ध धर्म के संस्थापक गौतम बुद्ध:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1956 को बौद्ध धर्म के संस्थापक गौतम बुद्ध की 2500 वीं जयंती 1956 में धूमधाम से मनायी गयी.
- पटकथा लेखक शिरीष कुंदर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1973 में भारतीय निर्देशक, संपादक, निर्माता और पटकथा लेखक शिरीष कुंदर का जन्म जन्म हुआ.
- पूर्व लोकसभा अध्यक्ष के. एस. हेगड़े:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1990 में भारतीय विधिवेत्ता, राजनीतिज्ञ और पूर्व लोकसभा अध्यक्ष के. एस. हेगड़े का निधन हुआ था. के. एस. हेगड़े एक ऐसे ईमानदार, विधि विशेषज्ञ और विद्वान न्यायाधीश के रूप में जाने जाते थे जिन्होंने किसी अन्य चीज की अपेक्षा वे सदैव विधिसम्मत शासन को वरीयता दी। जहां तक न्यायपालिका की स्वतंत्रता का प्रश्न था वे न्यायपालिका के कार्यों में कार्यपालिका के किसी भी प्रकार के हस्तक्षेप के सर्वथा विरुद्ध थे और कार्यपालिका के ऐसे प्रयासों के आलोचक थे.
- गुरु हनुमान:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1999 में भारत के महान् कुश्ती प्रशिक्षक (कोच) व पहलवान गुरु हनुमान का निधन हुआ था.
- शायर मजरूह सुल्तानपुरी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2000 में हिन्दी फ़िल्मों के प्रसिद्ध गीतकार और शायर मजरूह सुल्तानपुरी का निधन हुआ था. बताते चलें कि,आजादी मिलने से दो साल पहले वे एक मुशायरे में हिस्सा लेने बम्बई गए थे और तब उस समय के मशहूर फिल्म-निर्माता कारदार ने उन्हें अपनी नई फिल्म शाहजहां के लिए गीत लिखने का अवसर दिया था. उनका चुनाव एक प्रतियोगिता के द्वारा किया गया था. इस फिल्म के गीत प्रसिद्ध गायक कुंदन लाल सहगल ने गाए थे. ये गीत थे-ग़म दिए मुस्तकिल और जब दिल ही टूट गया जो आज भी बहुत लोकप्रिय हैं.पंडित नेहरू की नीतियों के खिलाफ एक जोशीली कविता लिखने के कारण मजरूह सुल्तानपुरी को सवा साल जेल में रहना पड़ा वर्ष 1994 में उन्हें फिल्म जगत के सर्वोच्च सम्मान दादा साहब फाल्के पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया. इससे पूर्व वर्ष 1980 में उन्हें ग़ालिब एवार्ड और वर्ष 1992 में इकबाल एवार्ड प्राप्त हुए थे.
- राज्य कर्मचारियों का मंहगाई भत्ता:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2008 में उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने राज्य कर्मचारियों का मंहगाई भत्ता छह प्रतिशत बढ़ाने का फ़ैंसला किया था.
- तपें चटर्जी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2010 में भारतीय अभिनेता तपें चटर्जी का निधन हुआ था.

Completed studies up to Despite being meritorious and talented, he did not get any good employment. Instead of getting a job, he applied for the ‘Nehru Institute of Mountaineering’ course. From here Bachendri’s life got a new direction. Bachendri Pal’s first chance at mountaineering came at the age of 12 when she climbed 400 meters with her school classmates.

Let us tell that, two years before getting independence, he had gone to Bombay to participate in a Mushaira and then the then-famous film producer Kardar gave him the opportunity to write songs for his new film Shah Jahan. He was elected through a competition. The songs of this film were sung by famous singer Kundan Lal Sehgal. These songs were Gham Diye Mustakil and Jab Dil Hi Toot Gaya which are very popular even today. Majrooh Sultanpuri had to stay in jail for a quarter of a year for writing a passionate poem against the policies of Pandit Nehru. Awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Earlier, he had received Ghalib Award in the year 1980 and Iqbal Award in the year 1992.
