1. महिला क्रांतिकारी मांतंगनी हज़ारा: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1870 में महिला क्रांतिकारी मांतंगनी हज़ारा का जन्म पश्चिम बंगाल के मिदनापुर ज़िले में एक ग़रीब किसान के घर में हुआ था.
2. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी सारंगधर दास: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1887 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी सारंगधर दास का जन्म उड़ीसा की देशी रियासत धेनकनाल में हुआ था. उन्होंने कटक से बी.ए. पास करने के बाद आगे के अध्ययन के लिए छात्रवृत्ति लेकर सारंगधर दास जापान गए. दास साल भर टोक्यो के टेकनिकल इंस्टीट्यूट में रहकर अमरीका पहुँचे और कैलिफॉर्निया यूनिवर्सिटी से रसायन और कृषि में उच्च डिग्री प्राप्त की. कुछ वर्षों तक अमेरिका और बर्मा की चीनी मिलों में काम करने के बाद दास भारत वापस आ गए. सारंगधर दास ने अपने गाँव हरिकृष्णपुर के निकट एक चीनी मिल की स्थापना की. इससे आदिवासियों की आर्थिक हालत सुधरी और उसके बीच सारंगधर दास का प्रभाव भी बढ़ा था. वर्ष 1928 में दास ईलाज करने कोलकत्ता गए तब अंग्रेजों ने उनकी चीनी मिल को नीलाम कर  दिया था. दास के शिकायत करने के बाद कोई करवाई नहीं हुई तो अंततः: उन्होंने उड़ीसा राज्य में ‘प्रजामंडल’ बनाई.  जिसका पहला सम्मेलन वर्ष 1931 में हुआ था. दास “भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन” में गिरफ्तार हुए और वर्ष 1946 तक जेल में रहे. जेल से छूटने पर सारंगधर दास उड़ीसा असेम्बली के सदस्य भी चुने गए थे.
3. तमिल साहित्यकार वेंकटरामा रामलिंगम पिल्लई: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1888 में तमिल साहित्यकार वेंकटरामा रामलिंगम पिल्लई का जन्म नमक्कल जिले के मोहनूर में हुआ था. उनका पूरा नाम वेंकटरामा रामलिंगम पिल्लई, जिन्हें ‘नमक्कल कविग्नार’ के नाम से भी जाना जाता है. उनके पिता का नाम वेंकटरामन और माता का नाम अम्मानियाम्माल था. पिल्लई ने देशभक्ति की भावना के साथ सैकड़ों कविताएँ लिखीं है.
4. संगीतकार आर. सी. बोराल: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1903 में संगीतकार आर. सी. बोराल का जन्म कलकत्ता (वर्तमान कोलकाता) के एक मशहूर संगीतज्ञ परिवार में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम लालचन्द बोराल था, जो शास्त्रीय संगीतकार थे. उन्हें संगीत वाद्य पखावज में प्रसिद्धि प्राप्त थी. बोराल के कैरियर के प्रारंभ से ही संगीतकार पंकज मलिक उनके नजदीकी मित्र बन गये थे. वर्ष 1982 में दोनों ने फ़िल्मों में प्रवेश किया और उस समय की बनने वाली मूक फ़िल्मों के लिए संगीत देने का काम किया था. बताते चलें कि, संगीतकार के तौर पर हिन्दी सिनेमा में पार्श्वगायन की परम्परा का श्रीगणेश करने का श्रेय आर. सी. बोराल को ही जाता है.
5. खगोलशास्त्री सुब्रह्मण्यम चंद्रशेखर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1910 में खगोलशास्त्री सुब्रह्मण्यम चंद्रशेखर का जन्म लाहौर में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम सुब्रह्मण्यम आयर था जो कि सरकारी सेवा में थे. ग्यारह वर्ष की आयु में ‘मद्रास प्रेसिडेंसी कॉलेज’ में चंद्रशेखर ने दाखिला लिया जहां पहले दो वर्ष चंद्रशेखर ने भौतिकी, कैमिस्ट्री, अंग्रेज़ी और संस्कृत का अध्ययन किया था. वर्ष 1930 में उच्च शिक्षा के लिए इंग्लैंड का प्रस्थान किया था. सुब्रह्मण्यम चंद्रशेखर ने ‘व्हाइट ड्वार्फ’, यानी ‘श्वेत बौने’ नाम के नक्षत्रों के बारे में सिद्धांत का प्रतिपादन किया था. इन नक्षत्रों के लिए उन्होंने जो सीमा निर्धारित की है, उसे ‘चंद्रशेखर सीमा’ कहा जाता है. चंद्रशेखर के सिद्धांत से ब्रह्मांड की उत्पत्ति के बारे में अनेक रहस्यों का भी पता चला.
6. साहित्यकार भोलाशंकर व्यास: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1923 में साहित्यकार भोलाशंकर व्यास का जन्म राजस्थान में हुआ था.
7. फ़िल्म अभिनेता सनी देओल: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1956 में फ़िल्म अभिनेता सनी देओल का जन्म सहनेवाल, लुधियाना (पंजाब) में हुआ था. उनका वास्तविक नाम अजय सिंह देओल है. उनके पिता का नाम अभिनेता धर्मेन्द्र है जबकि उनकी माता का नाम प्रकाश कौर हैं. इनकी सौतेली माँ का नाम अभिनेत्री हेमा मालिनी है. सन्नी ने अपने अभिनय कैरियर की शुरुआत वर्ष 1984 में फिल्म बेताब से की थी. उनके प्रदर्शन के लिए उन्हें सर्वश्रेष्ठ अभिनेता का फिल्म फेयर पुरस्कार मिला था.
8. साहित्यकार रामअवध द्विवेदी: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1971 में साहित्यकार रामअवध द्विवेदी का निधन वाराणसी, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ था.
9. अभिनेत्री कुमारी नाज़: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1995 में अभिनेत्री कुमारी नाज़ का निधन हुआ था.

1. Woman revolutionary Matangini Hazara: – On this day in the year 1870, woman revolutionary Matangini Hazara was born in the house of a poor farmer in hua   Midnapore district of West Bengal.
2. Freedom fighter Sarangdhar Das: – On this day in the year 1887, freedom fighter Sarangdhar Das was born in Dhenkanal, the native princely state of Orissa. He did …. from Cuttack. After passing, Sarangdhar Das went to Japan with a scholarship for further studies. Das reached America after staying at the Technical Institute in Tokyo for a year and obtained higher degrees in Chemistry and Agriculture from the University of California. After working for a few years in the sugar mills of America and Burma, Das returned to India. Sarangdhar Das established a sugar mill near his village Harikrishnapur. The economic condition of the Sase tribals improved and the influence of Sarangdhar Das also increased among them. In 1928, when Das went to Kolkata for treatment, the British auctioned his sugar mill. After Das complained, no action was taken, so finally he formed ‘Prajamandal’ in the state of Orissa. Whose first conference was held in the year 1931. Das was arrested in the “Quit India Movement” and remained in jail till 1946. After being released from jail, Sarangdhar Das was also elected member of tee   Orissa Assembly.
3. Tamil litterateur Venkatarama Ramalingam Pillai: – On this day in the year 1888, Tamil litterateur Venkatarama Ramalingam Pillai was born in Mohanur in Namakkal district. His full name is Venkatarama Ramalingam Pillai, also known as ‘Namakkal Kavignar’. His father’s name was Venkatraman and hss mother’s name was Ammaniyammal. Pillai has written hundreds of poems with patriotic sentiments
4. Musician R. C. Boral: – On this day in the year 1903, musician R. C. Boral was born in a famous musician family in Calcutta (Hartman Kolkata). His father’s name was Lalchand Boral, he was a classical musician. He was famous for the musical instrument Pakhawaj. Musician Pankaj Malik became Boral’s close friend from the beginning of his career. Both of them entered films in the year 1982 and did the work of giving music for the silent films made at that time. Let us tell you that as a musician, the credit for starting the tradition of playback singing in Hindi cinema goes to R. C. Goes to Boral only.
5. Astronomer Subramaniam Chandrasekhar:- On this day in the year 1910, astronomer Subramaniam Chandrasekhar was born in Lahore. His father’s name was Subramaniam Iayer he was in government service. At the age of eleven, Chandrashekhar ass age in ‘Madras Presidency College’ where Chandrashekhar studied Physics, Chemistry, English and Sanskrit for the first two years. Left for England in 1930 for higher education. Subramaniam Chandrasekhar had propounded the theory about the constellations named ‘White Dwarf’. The limit he has set for these constellations is called ‘Chandrashekhar Limit’. Chandrashekhar’s theory also revealed many secrets about the origin of the universe.
6. Litterateur Bholashankar Vyas: – On this day in the year 1923, litterateur Bholashankar Vyas was born in Rajasthan.
7. Film actor Sunny Deol: – On this day in the year 1956, film actor Sunny Deol was born in Sahnewal, Ludhiana (Punjab). His real name is Ajay Singh Deol. His father’s name is actor Dharmendra while his mother’s name is Prakash Kaur. His stepmother’s name is actress Hema Malini. Sunny started his acting career in the year 1984 with the film ‘Betaab’. He received the Film-fare Award for Best Actor for his performance.
