- महात्मा गांधी: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1869 में महात्मा गांधी का जन्म पोरबंदर में जन्म हुआ था. इनका पूरा नाम मोहनदास करमचंद गाँधी था. इनके पिता का नाम करमचंद गाँधी और माता का नाम पुतलीबाई था. मोहनदास ने ‘बंबई यूनिवर्सिटी’ से मैट्रिक की परीक्षा पास की और भाव नगर स्थित ‘सामलदास कॉलेज’ में दाख़िला लिया था. डरबन न्यायालय में यूरोपीय मजिस्ट्रेट ने उन्हें पगड़ी उतारने के लिए कहा, उन्होंने इन्कार कर दिया और न्यायालय से बाहर चले गए. वर्ष 1906 में जोहेन्सबर्ग में गाँधी के नेतृत्व में एक विरोध जनसभा का आयोजन किया और इस अध्यादेश के उल्लंघन तथा इसके परिणामस्वरूप दंड भुगतने की शपथ ली थी.
- पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री लाल बहादुर शास्त्री: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1904 में पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री लाल बहादुर शास्त्री का जन्म मुगलसराय (उत्तर प्रदेश) में एक कायस्थ परिवार में मुंशी शारदा प्रसाद श्रीवास्तव के यहाँ हुआ था. उनकी माता का नाम रामदुलारी था. परिवार में सबसे छोटे होने के कारण बालक लाल बहादुर को परिवार वाले प्यार में नन्हें कहकर ही बुलाया करते थे. संस्कृत भाषा में स्नातक स्तर तक की शिक्षा समाप्त करने के पश्चात् वे भारत सेवक संघ से जुड़ गये और देशसेवा का व्रत लेते हुए यहीं से अपने राजनैतिक जीवन की शुरुआत की थी. भारतीय स्वाधीनता संग्राम के सभी महत्वपूर्ण कार्यक्रमों व आन्दोलनों में उनकी सक्रिय भागीदारी रही और उसके परिणामस्वरूप उन्हें कई बार जेलों में भी रहना पड़ा था. शास्त्रीजी की साफ सुथरी छवि के कारण ही वर्ष 1964 में देश का प्रधानमन्त्री बनाया गया.
- चित्रकार राजा रवि वर्मा: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1906 में चित्रकार राजा रवि वर्मा का निधन हुआ था.
- अभिनेत्री आशा पारेख: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1942 में अभिनेत्री आशा पारेख का जन्म महुआ, गुजरात एक मध्यम वर्गीय गुजराती परिवार में हुआ था. बचपन से ही आशा जी को नृत्य का बेहद शौक़ था. बड़ी होने पर पण्डित गोपीकृष्ण तथा पण्डित बिरजू महाराज से ‘भरतनाट्यम’ में भी उन्होंने कुशलता प्राप्त की थी. आशा पारेख ने अपने अभिनय कैरियर की शुरुआत बाल कालकर के रूप में की थी. आशा पारेख ने दोबारा फ़िल्मी जगत् में जाने का निर्णय लिया, लेकिन फ़िल्म ‘गूँज उठी शहनाई’ के निर्देशक विजय भट्ट ने आशा की अभिनय प्रतिभा को नजरअंदाज़करते हुए उन्हें फ़िल्म में लेने से इनकार कर दिया यह. लेकिन, अगले ही दिन फ़िल्म निर्माता सुबोध मुखर्जी और लेखक-निर्देशक नासिर हुसैन ने अपनी आगामी फ़िल्म ‘दिल देके देखो’ में आशा पारेख को नायिका की भूमिका में चुन लिया था. वर्ष 2022 में भारतीय सिनेमा के सबसे बड़े सम्मान’दादा साहब फाल्के पुरस्कार’ से आशा पारेख को सम्मानित किया गया था.
- सामुदायिक विकास कार्यक्रम की शुरूआत: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1952 में सामुदायिक विकास कार्यक्रम ग्रामीण लोगों के समग्र विकास के उद्देश्य से शुरू किया गया एक बहु-परियोजना कार्यक्रम की शुरूआत हुई थी.

- सी. डी. देशमुख:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1982 में ब्रिटिश शासन के अधीन आई.सी.एस. अधिकारी और स्वतंत्रता के बाद भारत के तीसरे वित्त मंत्री व तमिलनाडु के मुख्यमंत्री सी. डी. देशमुख का निधन हुआ था.
- दहेज निषेध संशोधन अधिनियम: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1985 में दहेज निषेध संशोधन अधिनियम लागू हुआ था.
- अभिनेत्री हिना खान: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1986 में अभिनेत्री हिना खान का जन्म श्रीनगर, जम्मू और कश्मीर के एक सुन्नी मुस्लिम परिवार के घर हुआ था. हिना ने दिल्ली के सी सी ए स्कूल ऑफ मैनेजमेंट, गुड़गांव, में मास्टर ऑफ बिजनेस एडमिनिस्ट्रेशन किया है. हिना खान ने अपने अभिनय कैरियर की शुरुआत वर्ष 2009 में स्टार प्लस के शो ‘ये रिश्ता क्या कहलाता है’ से की थी. हिना खान ने फिल्मी कैरियर की शुरुआत फ़िल्म ‘हैक्ड’ से की थी.

- Mahatma Gandhi: – On this day in the year 1869, Mahatma Gandhi was born in Porbandar. His full name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. His father’s name was Karamchand Gandhi, and his mother’s name was Putlibai. Mohandas passed the matriculation examination from ‘Bombay University’ and was admitted to ‘Samaldas College’ located in Bhavnagar. In the Durban court, the European magistrate asked him to remove his turban, but he refused and walked out of the court. In the year 1906, a protest public meeting was organized under the leadership of Gandhi in Johannesburg and took an oath to violate this ordinance and suffer the resulting punishment.
- Former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri: – On this day in the year 1904, former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri was born in a Kayastha family in Mughalsarai (Uttar Pradesh) to Munshi Sharda Prasad Srivastava. His mother’s name was Ramdulari. Being the youngest in the family, the family members used to fondly call Lal Bahadur Nanhe. After completing his graduation level education in Sanskrit language, he joined Bharat Sevak Sangh and started his political career from here by taking the vow to serve the country. It was because of Shastriji’s clean image that he was made the Prime Minister of the country in the year 1964.

- Actress Asha Parekh: – On this day in the year 1942, actress Asha Parekh was born in a middle-class Gujarati family in Mahua, Gujarat. Since childhood, Asha Ji was very fond of dancing. When she grew up, she also gained skills in ‘Bharatanatyam’ from Pandit Gopikrishna and Pandit Birju Maharaj. Asha Parekh started her acting career as Bal Kalkar.
