1. गुरू अमर दास: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1574 में सिखों के तीसरे गुरू अमर दास का निधन अमृतसर में हुआ था.
2. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी एस. सुब्रह्मण्य अय्यर: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1842 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी एस. सुब्रह्मण्य अय्यर का जन्म मदुरा ज़िले, मद्रास राज्य में हुआ था. शिक्षा पूरी करने के बाद वर्ष 1885 में मद्रास आकर वकालत शुरू की. उनकी प्रतिभा देखकर वर्ष 1888 में उन्हें सरकारी वकील बना दिया गया. राजनीतिक कार्यक्रम को आगे बढ़ाने के लिए मद्रास में जो ‘महाजन सभा’ स्थापित हुई, सुब्रह्मण्य उसके प्रमुख व्यक्तियों में थे. एनी बेसेंट ने जब होमरूल लीग की स्थापना की तो वे इस संस्था के मानद अध्यक्ष बनाए गए थे. सुब्रह्मण्य कुछ समय तक मद्रास विश्वविद्यालय के कुलपति भी रहे थे.
3. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी एनी बेसेंट: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1847 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी एनी बेसेंट का जन्म लंदन के ‘वुड’ परिवार में हुआ था. एनी के पिता एक कुशल चिकित्सक थेसाथ ही वो कई भाषाओं के ज्ञाता थे जबकि उनकी माता धार्मिक आस्था वाली आयरिश महिला थी. एनी जब पाँच वर्ष की थीं तभी उनके पिता का स्वर्गवास हो गया था. उनका पालन-पोषण उनकी माँ ने अभावों की स्थितियों में किया था. एनी को धार्मिक, आध्यात्मिक, रहस्यवाद की पुस्तकें पढ़ने का शौक़ था.
4. डाक टिकट का प्रचलन: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1854 में भारत में डाक टिकट का प्रचलन प्रारंभ हुआ था. टिकट पर तत्कालीन महारानी विक्टोरिया का फोटो और भारत बना था और इसकी कीमत आधा आना (1/32 रुपए) थी. यह डाक टिकट लिथोग्राफी पद्धति से छापा गया था.
5. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी प्रताप सिंह कैरों: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1901 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी एवं पंजाब के भूतपूर्व मुख्यमंत्री प्रताप सिंह कैरों का जन्म अमृतसर ज़िले के ‘कैरों’ नामक ग्रामक ग्राम में हुआ था. प्रताप ने खालसा कालेज से बी.ए. कर अमरीका गए और वहाँ के मिशिगन विश्वविद्यालय से एम.ए. किया था. उन्होंने भारतीय स्वतंत्रता के लिये अमरीका में ‘ग़दर पार्टी’ के नाम से जो संस्था से जुड़कर सहयोग भी दिया था. वापस भारत आने पर उन्होंने वर्ष 1926 में भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस में शामिल हुए थे. भारत के स्वाधीन होने के पश्चात् विधान सभा के सदस्य निर्वाचित हुए और पंजाब के मुख्यमंत्री भी बने थे.
6. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी ए. के. गोपालन: –आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1904 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी ए. के. गोपालन का जन्म केरल के कन्नूर में हुआ था.
7. हन्टर समिति की स्थापना: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1919 में ब्रिटिश सरकार द्वारा हन्टर समिति की स्थापना की गई थी.
8. गीतकार मजरूह सुल्तानपुरी: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1919 में गीतकार मजरूह सुल्तानपुरी का जन्म सुल्तानपुर (उत्तर प्रदेश) में हुआ था.
9. अभिनेता शिवाजी गणेशन: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1927 में अभिनेता शिवाजी गणेशन का जन्म विल्लुपुरम, तमिलनाडु में हुआ था. गणेशन ने अपने अभिनय कैरियर में करीब 300 से अधिक तमिल फिल्मों में अभिनय किया है.
10. राजनीतिज्ञ सूरज भान: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1928 में राजनीतिज्ञ सूरज भान का जन्म महलांवली, ज़िला अम्बाला के एक दलित परिवार में हुआ था. इन्होंने अपनी शिक्षा अम्बाला में प्राप्त की और पंजाब व कुरूक्षेत्र विश्वविद्यालय से एम.ए., एल.एल.बी. पास किया था.
11. बिलियर्ड्स खिलाड़ी माइकल फ़रेरा: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1938 में बिलियर्ड्स खिलाड़ी माइकल फ़रेरा का जन्म मुम्बई में हुआ था. उन्होंने ‘सेंट जोसेफ़ स्कूल’, दार्जिलिंग में अपनी पढ़ाई की और वहीं से बिलियर्ड्स खेल में दिलचस्पी शुरू हुई थी. उन्होंने वर्ष 1960 के ‘भारतीय राष्ट्रीय बिलियर्ड्स चैम्पियनशिप’ में पहली बार भाग लिया और वर्ष 1964 में भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व न्यूजीलैंड में आयोजित ‘विश्व एमेच्योर बिलियर्ड्स चैम्पियनशिप’ में किया था. फ़रेरा तीन बार ‘एमेच्योर विश्व चैंपियन’ भी रहे हैं.
12. पूर्व राष्ट्रपति राम नाथ कोविन्द: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1945 में राष्ट्रपति राम नाथ कोविन्द का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के कानपुर जिला (वर्तमान में कानपुर देहात जिला) की तहसील डेरापुर, कानपुर देहात के एक छोटे से गाँव परौंख में हुआ था.
13. राजनीतिज्ञ जी.एम.सी. बालायोगी: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1951 में पूर्व लोकसभा अध्यक्ष जी.एम.सी. बालायोगी का जन्म पूर्वी गोदावरी ज़िला, आंध्र प्रदेश के कोनासीमा क्षेत्र में गौरवमयी तथा विशाल गोदावरी नदी के किनारे बसे येदुरुलंका नामक एक छोटे से गांव के एक किसान परिवार में हुआ था.
14. गायिका शारदा सिन्हा: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1952 में गायिका शारदा सिन्हा का जन्म हुलास, राघोपुर, सुपौल जिला में हुआ था. इन्होंने मैथिली, बज्जिका, भोजपुरी के अलावे हिन्दी गीत गाये हैं.
15. आंध्र प्रदेश राज्य का गठन: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1953 में आन्ध्र प्रदेश राज्य के निर्माण के लिए आन्ध्र राज्य का विलय कर हैदराबाद राज्य के तेलंगाना प्रांत से अलग किया गया था.
16. शारदा एक्ट 1929 में बदलाव – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1978 में शारदा एक्ट 1929 में बदलाव कर लड़कियों की शादी की उम्र को 14 से बढा कर 18 और लड़कों का 18 से बढा कर 21 वर्ष किया गया था. यहीं, वर्ष 2021 में नया विवाह कानून के अंतर्गत यह फैसला लिया गया की अब लड़कियों की शादी की आयु 21 वर्ष की जाएगी.
17. राजस्थानी साहित्यकार त्रिलोक सिंह ठकुरेला: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1966 में राजस्थानी साहित्यकार त्रिलोक सिंह ठकुरेला का जन्म हाथरस के निकट नगला मिश्रिया नामक ग्राम में हुआ था.
18. संगीतकार तथा गायक सचिन देव बर्मन: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1975 संगीतकार तथा गायक सचिन देव बर्मन में संगीतकार तथा गायक सचिन देव बर्मन का जन्म त्रिपुरा में हुआ था. इनके पिता का नाम राजा ईशानचन्द्र देव बर्मन है. बर्मन ने कलकत्ता विश्वविद्यालय से बी. ए. की शिक्षा प्राप्त की थी. बर्मन ने संगीत की शिक्षा विधिवतली थी. बर्मन ने कलकत्ता मेंसंगीत निर्देशक के रूप में अपना कैरियर वर्ष 1930 से शुरू किया था. बर्मन ने हिंदी फिल्मों के गाने शुरुआत फिल्म ‘शिकारी’ से शुरू की थी. बर्मन को हिंदी फिल्मों में पहचान फिल्म “मशाल” से मिली थी.
19. क्रांतिकारी चन्दन सिंह गढ़वाली: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1979 में क्रांतिकारी चन्दन सिंह गढ़वाली का निधन हुआ था.
20. अभिनेत्री श्रद्धा निगाम: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1979 में अभिनेत्री श्रद्धा निगाम का जन्म हुआ था. श्रद्धा की प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा इंदौर मध्य प्रदेश से सम्पन्न की. उसके बाद पुणे के सिम्बायोसिस अंतर्राष्ट्रीय विश्वविद्यालय से फैशन डिजाइनिंग का अध्ययन किया था. वर्ष 2008 में श्रद्धा के पति का नाम है करन सिंह ग्रोवर. श्रद्धा निगम ने अपने अभिनय कैरियर की शुरुआत वर्ष 1997 में मलयालम फिल्म पूनिलमझा की थी. उन्होंने हिंदी फिल्मों में अभिनय की शुरुआत वर्ष 2000 में फिल्म ‘जोश’ से की थी वहीं, श्रद्धा ने टीवी कैरियर की शुरुआत धारावाहिक चूड़ियाँ से की थी.
21. पार्श्व गायिका निखिता गाँधी: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1991 में पार्श्व गायिका निखिता गाँधी का जन्म कोलकाता के एक मिश्रित बंगाली और पंजाबी परिवार में हुआ था. निखिता की प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा ला मार्टिनियर फॉर गर्ल्स, कोलकाता से हुई है. निखिता ने चार अलग-अलग भाषाओं की भारतीय फिल्मों में भी काम किया है. उन्होंने फिल्म राब्ता का गाना “राब्ता” गाया है, जिसके लिए उन्हें प्रशसकों से काफी प्रशसा मिली.

1. Guru Amar Das: – On this day in the year 1574, the third Guru of the Sikhs, Amar Das, died in Amritsar.
2. Freedom fighter S. Subrahmanya Iyer: – On this day in the year 1842, freedom fighter S. Subramanya Iyer was born in Madura district, Madras state. After completing his education, he came to Madras in 1885 and started practising law. Seeing his talent, he was made a government lawyer in the year 1888. Subramanya was one of the prominent persons of the ‘Mahajan Sabha’ which was established in Madras to carry forward the political programme. When Annie Besant founded the Home Rule League, he was made the honorary president of this organization. Subramanya was also the Vice Chancellor of Madras University for some time.
3. Freedom fighter Annie Besant: – On this day in the year 1847, freedom fighter Annie Besant was born in the ‘Wood’ family of London. Annie’s father was a skilled doctor and also knew several languages, while her mother was an Irish woman with religious faith. When Annie was five years old, her father passed away. He was brought up by his mother in conditions of deprivation. Annie was fond of reading religious, spiritual and mystic books.
4. The circulation of postage stamps: – On this day in the year 1854, the circulation of postage stamps started in India. The ticket had a photo of the then Queen Victoria and India and its price was half an anna (1/32 rupees). This postage stamp was printed using the lithography method.
5. Freedom fighter Pratap Singh Kairon: – On this day in the year 1901, freedom fighter and former Chief Minister of Punjab Pratap Singh Kairon was born in a rural village named ‘Kairon’ in Amritsar district. Pratap did B.A from Khalsa College. After this, he went to America and did M.A. at the University of Michigan. did. He also supported the cause of Indian independence by joining an organization in America called ‘Ghadar Party’. On coming back to India, he joined the Indian National Congress in the year 1926. After India’s independence, he was elected a member of the Legislative Assembly and also became the Chief Minister of Punjab.
6. Freedom fighter A. Of. Gopalan: –On this day in the year 1904, freedom fighter A. Of. Gopalan was born in Kannur, Kerala.
7. Establishment of Hunter Committee: – On this day in the year 1919, the Hunter Committee was established by the British Government.
8. Lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri: – On this day in the year 1919, lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri was born in Sultanpur (Uttar Pradesh).
9. Actor Sivaji Ganesan: – On this day in the year 1927, actor Sivaji Ganesan was born in Villupuram, Tamil Nadu. Ganesan has acted in more than 300 Tamil films in his acting career.

He studied at ‘St. Joseph’s School, Darjeeling and it was from there that his interest in the game of billiards began. He participated for the first time in the ‘Indian National Billiards Championship’ in the year 1960 and in the year 1964, he represented India in the ‘World Amateur Billiards Championship’ held in New Zealand.
