1. समाज-सुधारक चिदंबरम पिल्लई:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1872 में तमिल भाषा के विद्वान और समाज-सुधारक चिदंबरम पिल्लई का जन्म तमिलनाडु के ‘तिरुनेल्वेली’ में हुआ था. ‘बंग-भंग’ के विरुद्ध आंदोलन में चिदंबरम पिल्लई ने स्वदेशी का प्रचार-प्रसार किया और लोगों को विदेशी सरकार के विरुद्ध प्रेरित करने में महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई थी. ब्रिटिश सरकार ने चिदंबरम पिल्लई को देशद्रोही ठहराकर उन्हें आजीवन क़ैद की सज़ा सुनाई थी.
2. भारत के दूसरे राष्ट्रपति सर्वपल्ली राधाकृष्णन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1888 में भारत के दूसरे राष्ट्रपति सर्वपल्ली राधाकृष्णन का जन्म तमिलनाडु के तिरूतनी ग्राम के ब्राह्मण परिवार में हुआ था.डॉ० राधाकृष्णन के पिता का नाम ‘सर्वपल्ली वीरास्वामी’ और माता का नाम ‘सीताम्मा’ था. उनके पिता राजस्व विभाग में काम करते थे. राधाकृष्णन का बाल्यकाल तिरूतनी एवं तिरुपति जैसे धार्मिक स्थलों पर ही व्यतीत हुआ था. राधाकृष्णन का विवाह 16 वर्ष की आयु में दूर के रिश्ते की बहन सिवाकामू से हुआ था. जब राधाकृष्णन का विवाह हुआ तो उनकी पत्नी की आयु मात्र 10 वर्ष थी. राधाकृष्णन अपनी उच्च अध्ययन के दौरान वह अपनी निजी आमदनी के लिये बच्चों को ट्यूशन पढ़ाने का काम भी करते रहे. उन्होंने वेदों और उपनिषदों का भी गहन अध्ययन किया साथ ही उन्होंने हिन्दी और संस्कृत भाषा का भी रुचि पूर्वक अध्ययन किया.
3. उपन्यासकार वाचस्पति पाठक:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1905 में उपन्यासकार वाचस्पति पाठक का जन्म काशी (वर्तमान बनारस) के नवाब गंज मुहल्ले में हुआ था. वाचस्पति पाठक जी ने ‘काग़ज़ की टोपी’ कहानी से प्रसिद्धि प्राप्त की थी. वाचस्पति पाठक ने अपनी पहचान साहित्यिक आंदोलन के सक्रिय योद्धा के रूप में बनाई थी. साथ ही वो अपने समय के एक महत्वपूर्ण कथाकार के साथ-साथ उल्लेखनीय संपादक भी रहे थे.
4. क्रिकेटर फ़िरोज़ पलिया:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1910 में क्रिकेटर फ़िरोज़ पलिया का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ था.
5. लक्ष्मीनारायण रामदास:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1933 में लक्ष्मीनारायण रामदास का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ था. लक्ष्मीनारायण शिक्षा पूरी करने के बाद फौज की नौकरी के लिए ‘इण्डियन आर्म्ड फोर्स एकेडमी देहरादून’ द्वारा चुने गए और उन्हें रॉयल नेवल कॉलेज डार्टमाउथ इंग्लैण्ड में प्रशिक्षण के लिए भेज दिया गया. नौसेना में काम करते हुए लक्ष्मीनारायण कोच्चि, केरल की नेवल एकेडमी के प्रमुख भी रहे, किन्तु इनके नौसेना के पूरे अनुभव काल में 1971 में हुए भारत-पाक युद्ध का बहुत महत्त्व है. वर्ष 1990 में लक्ष्मीनारायण रामदास पदोन्नति पाते हुए नौसेना के प्रमुख के पद पर पहुँच गए थे. उन्हें अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर शांति स्थापित करने के लिए ‘रेमन मैग्सेसे पुरस्कार’ से किया गया था.
6. साहित्यकार अम्बिका प्रसाद दिव्य:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1986 में साहित्यकार अम्बिका प्रसाद दिव्य का निधन हुआ था.
7. विमान परिचारिका नीरजा भनोट:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1986 में मुम्बई से न्यूयॉर्क जा रहे पैन एम फ्लाइट 73 के अपहृत विमान में विमान परिचारिका नीरजा भनोट ने यात्रियों की सहायता एवं सुरक्षा करते हुए वे आतंकवादियों की गोलियों का शिकार होने की वजह से उनकी मौत हो गई थी.
8. अभिनेत्री मानवी गागरो:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1985 में अभिनेत्री मानवी गागरो का जन्म नई दिल्ली के सुरेंदर और उर्मी गगरू के घर हुआ था. उन्होंने द मदर्स इंटरनेशनल स्कूल, नई दिल्ली से अपनी स्कूली शिक्षा पूरी की और गार्गी कॉलेज से मनोविज्ञान में डिग्री प्राप्त की साथ ही मानवी ने 12 साल की उम्र तक भारतीय नृत्य शैली कथक का भी अध्ययन किया था. मानवी ने अपने कैरियर की शुरुआत वर्ष 2007 में डिज़नी चैनल के टेलीविज़न शो धूम मचाओ धूम से की थी. मानवी ने टीवीएफ पिचर्स, टीवीएफ ट्रिपलिंग औरफोर मोर शॉट्स प्लीज़ जैसी विभिन्न वेब श्रृंखलाओं में भी काम किया है.
9. क्रिकेटर प्रज्ञान ओझा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1986 में  क्रिकेटर प्रज्ञान ओझा का जन्म भुवनेश्वर में हुआ था.
10. अभिनेत्री साई लोकुर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1989 में अभिनेत्री साई लोकुर का जन्म बेलगाम कर्नाटक में हुआ था. लोकुर ने अपनी प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा बेलगाम से की. उन्होंने डिवाइन प्रोविडेंस कान्वेंट हाईस्कूल से अपनी पढ़ाई पूरी की साथ ही उन्होंने अपनी स्नातक की पढ़ाई रप्रेल कॉलेज मुंबई से पूरी की. लोकुर को बचपन से ही फिल्मों में अभिनय करने का शौक था. उन्होंने बचपन में कई फिल्म और ऐड में बतौर चाइल्ड आर्टिस्ट के तौर भी काम कर चुकी हैं. लोकुर ने अपने फिल्मी कैरियर की शुरुआत फिल्म मिशन चैम्पियन से की थी. उन्होंने अपने हिंदी अभिनय कैरियर की शुरुआत फिल्म किस किसको प्यार करूँ से कर रहीं हैं.
11. अभिनेत्री हुनर अली:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1989 में अभिनेत्री हुनर अली का जन्म दिल्ली में हुआ था. हुनर ने अपने फिल्मी कैरियर की शुरुआत फिल्म बॉस से की थी.
12. व्यंग्य रचनाकार शरद जोशी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1991 में व्यंग्य रचनाकार शरद जोशी का निधन मुंबई में हुआ था.
13. संगीतकार सलिल चौधरी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1995 में संगीतकार सलिल चौधरी का निधन कोलकाता में हुआ था.
14. समाज सेविका मदर टेरेसा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1997 में समाज सेविका मदर टेरेसा का निधन कोलकाता में हुआ था.

1. Social reformer Chidambaram Pillai:- On this day in the year 1872, Tamil language scholar and social reformer Chidambaram Pillai was born in ‘Tirunelveli’, Tamil Nadu. In the movement against ‘Bang-Bhang’, Chidambaram Pillai propagated Swadeshi and played an important role in motivating people against the foreign government. The British government declared Chidambaram Pillai a traitor and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
2. Second President of India Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan:- On this day in the year 1888, the second President of India Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born in a Brahmin family of Tirutani village in Tamil Nadu. Dr. Radhakrishnan’s father’s name was ‘Sarvepalli Veeraswami’ and his mother’s name. It was ‘Seetamma’. His father worked in the revenue department. Radhakrishnan’s childhood was spent in religious places like Tirutani and Tirupati. Radhakrishnan was married at the age of 16 to Sivakamu, a distant relative’s sister. When Radhakrishnan got married, his wife was only 10 years old. During his higher studies, Radhakrishnan also kept teaching tuition to children for his personal income. He also studied Vedas and Upanishads deeply and also studied Hindi and Sanskrit languages with interest.
3. Novelist Vachaspati Pathak:- On this day in the year 1905, novelist Vachaspati Pathak was born in the Nawab Ganj locality of Kashi (present-day Banaras). Vachaspati Pathak ji gained fame from the story ‘Kaagaz Ki Topi’. Vachaspati Pathak had made his mark as an active warrior of the literary movement. Apart from being an important storyteller of his time, he was also a notable editor.
4. Cricketer Firoz Palia:- On this day in the year 1910, Cricketer Firoz Palia was born in Mumbai.
5. Lakshminarayan Ramdas:- On this day in the year 1933, Lakshminarayan Ramdas was born in Mumbai. After completing his education, Laxminarayan was selected by the ‘Indian Armed Forces Academy, Dehradun’ for military service and was sent for training at the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, England. While working in the Navy, Lakshminarayan was also the head of the Naval Academy of Kochi, Kerala, but in his entire experience in the Navy, the Indo-Pak War of 1971 had great significance. In the year 1990, Laxminarayan Ramdas reached the post of Chief of the Navy after getting a promotion. He was awarded the ‘Ramon Magsaysay Award for establishing peace at the international level.
6. Litterateur Ambika Prasad Divya:- On this day in the year 1986, litterateur Ambika Prasad Divya passed away.
7. Air hostess Neerja Bhanot: – On this day in the year 1986, in the hijacked flight of Pan Am Flight 73 going from Mumbai to New York, air hostess Neerja Bhanot, while helping and protecting the passengers, fell victim to the bullets of the terrorists. He had died.
8. Actress Maanvi Gagro:- On this day in the year 1985, actress Maanvi Gagro was born to Surender and Urmi Gagro of New Delhi. She completed her schooling at The Mother’s International School, New Delhi, and obtained a degree in Psychology from Gargi College.
