- पुरंदर की संधि पर हस्ताक्षर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1665 में मुग़लों और छत्रपति शिवाजी महाराज के बीच राजा जय सिंह संधि पर हस्ताक्षर हुए थे. इस संधि के अनुसार, मराठों को कई किले मुगलों को देने पड़े और शिवाजी, औरंगज़ेब से आगरा में मिलने के लिये सहमत हुए थे.
- राजनीतिज्ञ दादा भाई नौरोजी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1825 में राजनीतिज्ञ दादा भाई नौरोजी का जन्म मुम्बई के एक ग़रीब पारसी परिवार में हुआ था. दादाभाई जब चार वर्ष के थे, तब उनके पिता का देहांत हो गया था. उनकी माँ ने निर्धनता में भी बेटे को उच्च शिक्षा दिलाई. दादाभाई महज 25 बरस की उम्र में एलफिनस्टोन इंस्टीट्यूट में लीडिंग प्रोफेसर के तौर पर नियुक्त होने वाले पहले भारतीय बने थे. नौरोजी वर्ष 1892 में हुए ब्रिटेन के आम चुनावों में ‘लिबरल पार्टी’ के टिकट पर ‘फिन्सबरी सेंट्रल’ से जीतकर भारतीय मूल के पहले ‘ब्रितानी सांसद’ बने थे. उन्होंने भारत में कांग्रेस की राजनीति का आधार तैयार किया था. लन्दन में रहते हुए दादाभाई ने वर्ष 1866 ई. में ‘लन्दन इण्डियन एसोसिएशन’ एवं ‘ईस्ट इंडिया एसोसिएशन’ की स्थापना की थी.
- स्वतंत्रता सेनानी भूपेंद्रनाथ दत्त:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1880 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी भूपेंद्रनाथ दत्त का जन्म कोलकाता में हुआ था. भूपेंद्रनाथ की प्रारंभिक शिक्षा ईश्वर चंद्र विद्यासागर द्वारा स्थापित विद्यालय में हुई थी. उन्होंने राजनीतिक गतिविधियों के साथ अपना अध्ययन भी जारी रखा और जर्मनी से पी.एच.डी. की डिग्री प्राप्त की थी. वर्ष 1902 में उन्हें राजद्रोह के अपराध में गिरफ्तार करके एक वर्ष कैद की सजा हुई थी. वर्ष 1930 की कराची कांग्रेस में किसानों, मजदूरों के हित संबंधी प्रस्ताव को स्वीकार कराने में उनका बड़ा हाथ था.
- समुद्री यात्रा शुरु की:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1888 में महात्मा गांधी ने इंग्लैंड के लिए समुद्री यात्रा शुरु की थी.
- वैज्ञानिक ज्ञानचंद्र घोष:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1894 में वैज्ञानिक ज्ञानचंद्र घोष का जन्म पश्चिम बंगाल के पुरुलिया नामक स्थान पर हुआ था. उन्होंने ‘कलकत्ता’ (वर्तमान कोलकाता) के प्रेसिडेंसी कॉलेज से एम.एस.सी. परीक्षा में इन्होंने प्रथम श्रेणी में प्रथम स्थान प्राप्त किया था. इसके बाद ज्ञान चंद्र घोष ‘कोलकाता विश्वविद्यालय’ के ‘विज्ञान कॉलेज’ में प्राध्यापक नियुक्त हुए थे. वर्ष 1919 में ज्ञान चंद्र घोष यूरोप गए, जहाँ इंग्लैंड के प्रोफ़ेसर डोनान और जर्मनी के डॉ. नर्न्स्ट और हेवर के अधीन कार्य किया. बंगलोर में ‘भारत सरकार’ के इंडस्ट्रीज और सप्लाइज़ के डाइरेक्टर जनरल के पद पर वर्ष 1947-50 तक रहे थे. ज्ञान चंद्र घोष अनेक वैज्ञानिक संस्थाओं के संस्थापक और सदस्य रहे थे.
- साहित्यकार सियारामशरण गुप्त:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1895 में साहित्यकार सियारामशरण गुप्त का जन्म चिरगांव, झाँसी के सेठ रामचरण कनकने के परिवार में मैथिलीशरण गुप्त के अनुज रुप में हुआ था. वर्ष 1929 ई. में राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी और कस्तूरबा के सम्पर्क में आये और कुछ समय वर्धा आश्रम में भी रहे. सियारामशरण गुप्त की भाषा-शैली पर घर के वैष्णव संस्कारों और गांधीवाद का प्रभाव था वहीं, मैथिलीशरण गुप्त की काव्यकला और उनका युगबोध सियारामशरण ने यथावत् अपनाया था.
- साहित्यकार व आलोचक नंद दुलारे वाजपेयी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1906 में साहित्यकार व आलोचक नंद दुलारे वाजपेयी का जन्म मगरायर ग्राम, ज़िला उन्नाव, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ था.
- साहित्यकार मोहनलाल विष्णु पंड्या:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1912 में साहित्यकार मोहनलाल विष्णु पंड्या का निधन मथुरा, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ था.
- राजनीतिज्ञ सुशील कुमार शिंदे:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1941 में राजनीतिज्ञ सुशील कुमार शिंदे का जन्म महाराष्ट्र के शोलापुर में हुआ था. उन्होंने दयानंद कॉलेज, शोलापुर से आर्ट्स में ऑनर्स डिग्री ली थी और बाद में शिवाजी यूनिवर्सिटी से कानून की डिग्री भी हासिल की थी. शिक्षा प्राप्ति के बाद शिंदे ने अपना कैरियर शोलापुर सेशन कोर्ट में एक नाजिर के तौर पर शुरू किया था लेकिन बाद में वे राज्य पुलिस में सब इंस्पेक्टर बन गए थे. शरद पवार के आग्रह पर वे पुलिस की नौकरी छोड़कर राजनीति में आए और शोलापुर जिले के करमाला से उन्होंने पहली बार विधानसभा जीतकर तत्कालीन मुख्यमंत्री स्वर्गीय वीपी नाईक ने उन्हें अपनी सरकार में जूनियर मंत्री बनाया था. बताते चलें कि, वर्ष 2003 में शिंदे महाराष्ट्र के मुख्यमंत्री बनने वाले पहले दलित नेता हैं.
- अभिनेता ऋषि कपूर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1952 में अभिनेता ऋषि कपूर का जन्म चेम्बूर (मुंबई) के कपूर परिवार में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम अभिनेता-फिल्म निर्देशक राज कपूर और दादा का नाम अभिनेता पृथ्वीराज कपूर है. उनके भाई रणधीर कपूर और राजीव कपूर, मामा प्रेमनाथ और राजेन्द्रनाथ और चाचा शशि कपूर और शम्मी कपूर सभी अभिनेता हैं. ऋषि ने कैंपियन स्कूल, मुंबई और मेयो कॉलेज, अजमेर में अपने भाइयों के साथ अपनी स्कूली शिक्षा पूरी की थी. ऋषि ने अपने कैरियर की शुरुआत फिल्म मेरा नाम जोकर में बाल कलाकार के रूप में की थी. बतौर मुख्य अभिनेता के रूप में उनकी पहली फ़िल्म बॉबी थी. उन्हें बॉबी फ़िल्म के लिए 1974 में सर्वश्रेष्ठ अभिनेता के लिए फ़िल्मफ़ेयर पुरस्कार और साथ ही 2008 में फ़िल्मफेयर लाइफटाइम अचीवमेंट पुरस्कार सहित अन्य पुरस्कारों से सम्मानित किया जा चूका है. ऋषि ने वर्ष 1973 – 2000 के बीच 92 फिल्मों में रोमांटिक लीड के रूप में प्रमुख भूमिकाएँ निभाईं थी. ऋषि कपूर की शादी बॉलीवुड अभिनेत्री नीतू कपूर से हुई है.
- क्रिकेटर किरण मोरे:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1962 में क्रिकेटर किरण मोरे का जन्म वड़ोदरा, गुजरात में हुआ था. उनका पूरा नाम किरण शंकर मोरे है. किरण मोरे ने अपने क्रिकेट कैरियर की शुरुआत वर्ष 1984 से की थी. वर्ष 1993 तक किरण मोरे ने टीम इंडिया के लिए 94 वनडे खेले थे. किरण मोरे ने 94 वनडे की 65 पारियों में 22 बार नाबाद रहते हुए 13.09 की औसत से 563 रन बनाए थे.

- The signing of the Treaty of Purandar:- On this day in the year 1665, the Raja Jai Singh Treaty was signed between the Mughals and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. According to this treaty, the Marathas had to cede many forts to the Mughals and Shivaji agreed to meet Aurangzeb at Agra.
- Politician Dadabhai Naoroji:- On this day in the year 1825, politician Dadabhai Naoroji was born in a poor Parsi family in Mumbai. When Dadabhai was four years old, his father died. His mother gave higher education to her son even in poverty. Dadabhai became the first Indian to be appointed as a Leading Professor at the Elphinstone Institute at the age of just 25. Naoroji became the first ‘British MP’ of Indian origin by winning from ‘Finsbury Central’ on the ‘Liberal Party’ ticket in the British general elections held in the year 1892. He prepared the basis of Congress politics in India. While living in London, Dadabhai established ‘London Indian Association’ and ‘East India Association’ in the year 1866.
- Freedom fighter Bhupendranath Dutt:- On this day in the year 1880, freedom fighter Bhupendranath Dutt was born in Kolkata. Bhupendranath’s early education took place in the school established by Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar. He also continued his studies along with political activities and obtained a Ph.D. from Germany. degree was obtained. In the year 1902, he was arrested for sedition and sentenced to one-year imprisonment. He had a big role in getting the proposal related to the welfare of farmers and laborers accepted in the Karachi Congress of 1930.

- Scientist Gyanchandra Ghosh:- On this day in the year 1894, scientist Gyanchandra Ghosh was born at a place called Purulia in West Bengal. He did his M.Sc. from Presidency College, Calcutta (present-day Kolkata). He got the first position in the first class in the examination. After this, Gyan Chandra Ghosh was appointed professor in the ‘Science College’ of ‘The University of Calcutta’. In the year 1919, Gyan Chandra Ghosh went to Europe, where he worked under Professor Donnan of England and Dr. Nernst and Hever of Germany. He held the post of Director General of Industries and Supplies of ‘Government of India’ in Bangalore till 1947-50. Gyan Chandra Ghosh was the founder and member of many scientific organizations.
- Litterateur Siyaramsharan Gupta:- On this day in the year 1895, litterateur Siyaramsharan Gupta was born in the family of Seth Ramcharan Kanakne of Chirgaon, Jhansi, as the younger brother of Maithili Sharan Gupta. In the year 1929 AD, the Father of the Nation came in contact with Mahatma Gandhi and Kasturba and also stayed in Wardha Ashram for some time. Siyaramsharan Gupt’s language style was influenced by Vaishnav values and Gandhism at home, while Siyaramsharan adopted Maithili Sharan Gupt’s poetry and his sense of the times as it was.

- Politician Sushil Kumar Shinde:- On this day in the year 1941, politician Sushil Kumar Shinde was born in Solapur, Maharashtra. He obtained an Honors degree in Arts from Dayanand College, Sholapur, and later obtained a law degree from Shivaji University. After completing his education, Shinde started his career as a nazir in the Sholapur Sessions Court but later became a sub-inspector in the state police. On the insistence of Sharad Pawar, he left the police job and entered politics and by winning the assembly for the first time from Karmala in Solapur district, the then Chief Minister late VP Naik made him a junior minister in his government. Let us tell you that in the year 2003, Shinde was the first Dalit leader to become the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
- Actor Rishi Kapoor:- On this day in the year 1952, actor Rishi Kapoor was born in the Kapoor family of Chembur (Mumbai). His father’s name is actor-film director Raj Kapoor and his grandfather’s name is actor Prithviraj Kapoor. His brothers Randhir Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor, maternal uncles Premnath and Rajendranath, and uncles Shashi Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor are all actors. Rishi completed his schooling at Campion School, Mumbai, and Mayo College, Ajmer along with his brothers. Rishi started his career as a child artist in the film Mera Naam Joker. His first film as a lead actor was Bobby. He was awarded the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in 1974 for the film Bobby, as well as the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008, among other awards.
