1. कवि उर्फ़ी शीराजी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1591में मुग़ल दरबार में बादशाह अकबर के प्रसिद्ध कवियों में से एक उर्फ़ी शीराजी का निधन हुआ था.
2. रानी जिंद कौर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1591में पंजाब के महाराज रणजीत सिंह की पाँचवी रानी तथा उनके सबसे छोटे बेटे दलीप सिंह की माँ रानी जिंद कौर का निधन हुआ था.
3. हरकोर्ट बटलर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1869 में उत्तर प्रदेश के प्रथम राज्यपाल हरकोर्ट बटलर का जन्म हुआ था.
4. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी पुरुषोत्तम दास टंडन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1882 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी पुरुषोत्तम दास टंडन का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के प्राचीनतम और धार्मिक शहर इलाहाबाद में हुआ था. उनकी प्रारंभिक शिक्षा स्थानीय ‘सिटी एंग्लो वर्नाक्यूलर विद्यालय’ में हुई थी. इसके बाद उन्होंने एल.एल.बी. की डिग्री हासिल की और एम.ए. इतिहास विषय से किया. वर्ष 1906 में वकालत की प्रैक्टिस के लिए पुरुषोत्तम जी ने ‘इलाहाबाद उच्च न्यायालय’ में काम करना शुरू किया. टंडन ने ‘भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस’ के साथ वर्ष 1899 से ही काम करना शुरु कर दिया था. क्रांतिकारी कार्यकलापों के कारण उन्हें ‘इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय’ के ‘म्योर सेण्ट्रल कॉलेज’ से निष्कासित भी कर दिया गया था. वर्ष 1930 में महात्मा गाँधी द्वारा चलाये जा रहे ‘सविनय अवज्ञा आन्दोलन’ के सिलसिले में वे बस्ती में गिरफ्तार हुए और उन्हें कारावास का दण्ड मिला. टंडन ने हिन्दी को राष्ट्रभाषा बनाए जाने के प्रबल समर्थक थे और इसको आगे बढ़ाने और राष्ट्रभाषा का स्थान देने के लिए काफ़ी प्रयास कर रहे थे. आज़ादी के बाद पुरुषोत्तम दास टंडन ने उत्तर प्रदेश की विधान सभा के प्रवक्ता के रूप में तेरह साल तक काम किया.
5. कमला नेहरू:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1899 में प्रथम प्रधानमंत्री जवाहर लाल नेहरू की पत्नी कमला नेहरू का जन्म दिल्ली के एक कश्मीरी ब्राह्मण परिवार में हुआ था.
6. क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी मुहम्मद निसार:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1910 में क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी मुहम्मद निसार का जन्म होशियारपुर, पंजाब, ब्रिटिश भारत में हुआ था.
7. तिलिस्मी लेखक बाबु देवकीनन्दन खत्री:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1913 में तिलिस्मी लेखक बाबु देवकीनन्दन खत्री का निधन हुआ था. उन्होने चंद्रकांता, चंद्रकांता संतति, काजर की कोठरी, नरेंद्र-मोहिनी, कुसुम कुमारी, वीरेंद्र वीर, गुप्त गोदना, कटोरा भर, भूतनाथ जैसी रचनाएं की थी.
8. अभिनेता एवं फ़िल्म निर्माता-निर्देशक भगवान दादा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1913 में अभिनेता एवं फ़िल्म निर्माता-निर्देशक भगवान दादा का जन्म अमरावती, महाराष्ट्र में हुआ था.
9. होम रूल लीग आंदोलन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1916 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी तथा ‘आयरन लेडी’ के नाम से मशहूर श्रीमती एनी बेसेंट ने बाल गंगाधर तिलक के सहयोग से होम रूल लीग के अध्यक्ष दादाभाई नौरोजी के साथ मिलकर होम रूल लीग आंदोलन की शुरूआत की थी.
10. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी बाल गंगाधर तिलक:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1920 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी बाल गंगाधर तिलक का निधन हुआ था.
11. असहयोग आंदोलन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1920 में महात्मा गांधी ने असहयोग आंदोलन की शुरुआत की थी. इस आंदोलन के तहत गांधीजी ने उन सभी वस्तुओं (विशेष रूप से मशीन से बने कपड़े), संस्थाओं और व्यवस्थाओं का बहिष्कार करने का फैसला लिया था जिसके तहत अंग्रेज़ भारतीयों पर शासन कर रहे थे.
12. केसर ए हिंद पुरस्कार को लौटाया:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1920 में महात्मा गांधी ने ब्रिटिश सरकार द्वारा प्रदत्त केसर ए हिंद पुरस्कार को लौटाया था. ज्ञात है कि, महात्मा गांधी ने जलियांवाला बाग नरसंहार के जवाब में अपना कैसर-ए-हिंद पुरस्कार लौटा दिया था.
13. अभिनेत्री मीना कुमारी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1932 में अभिनेत्री मीना कुमारी का जन्म बंबई में हुआ था. उनका असली नाम महजबीं बानो था. मीना के पिता अली बक्श पारसी रंगमंच के एक मँझे हुए कलाकार थे और उनकी माँ प्रभावती देवी (बाद में इकबाल बानो), भी एक मशहूर नृत्यांगना और अदाकारा थी. उन्होंने अपने फिल्मी कैरियर की शुरुआत फिल्म बैजू बावरा से की थी. मीना कुमारी को भारतीय सिनेमा में ट्रैजेडी क्वीन के नाम से भी जानते हैं. अभिनेत्री होने के साथ-साथ मीना कुमारी एक उम्दा शायारा एवम् पार्श्वगायिका भी थीं. उन्होंने वर्ष 1939 से 1972 तक फिल्मी पर्दे पर काम किया था.
14. साहित्यकार गोविन्द मिश्र:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1939 में साहित्यकार गोविन्द मिश्र का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के नगर बाँदा में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम माधव प्रसाद मिश्र तथा माता का नाम सुमित्रा देवी मिश्रा था. उन्होंने वर्ष 1957 में हिन्दी साहित्य सम्मेलन प्रयाग की विशारद परीक्षा उत्तीर्ण की और वर्ष 1959 में (अंग्रेज़ी साहित्य में) इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय से एम.ए. की उपाधि प्राप्त की थी. परीक्षा पास करते ही वे सेंट एंड्रू कॉलेज गोरखपुर में प्राध्यापक बन गए.
15. शक्तियों का बंटवारा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1947 में भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच शक्तियों का बंटवारा हुआ था.
