हामिद इक नन्हा सा बच्चा
उसके कोई ना अम्मी अब्बा
इक दादी ग़ुरबत की मारी
बूढ़ी बेबस और दुख्यारी
ईद खड़ी थी जिसके सर पर
बिन देखे ये ग़म का लश्कर
दादी पास ना रुपया पैसा
और हामिद बच्चा नन्हा सा
फिर भी जैसे तैसे करके
छः आने जोड़े मर मर के
तीन आने हामिद की ईदी
बाक़ी का घी और शकर ली
आख़िर हामिद जब घर आता
सब की तरह सिवय्यां खाता
हामिद ईद गाह जब पहुँचा
ईद का मेला हर जानिब था
उसके सारे दोस्त ख़ुशी से
मोल ले रहे थे मर्ज़ी से
चरखी भिशती घोड़े हाथी
राजा रानी और सिपाही
लट्टू सीटी गेंद और झूले
ग़रज़ वहाँ थे ख़ूब खिलौने
हामिद ने ललचा कर सोचा
और फिर दिल बहला कर सोचा
ये सब हैं बेकार खिलौने
मिट्टी के लाचार खिलौने
टूट जाएँगे घर जाते ही
ख़त्म मिठाई बस खाते ही
दो दिन में फेंके जाएँगे
फिर किससे देखे जाएँगे
हामिद ने फिर समझा परखा
उस के बाद ख़रीदा चिमटा
उसकी दादी प्यारी दादी
देती उसको खाना पानी
जलते तवे पे रोटी रखती
हाथ से उसको रोज़ पलटती
चिमटे से अच्छा क्या होगा
काम की शै और पक्का लोहा
यारों ने जब हँसी उड़ायी
हामिद ने भी शान दिखायी
चिमटे को अफ़ज़ल बतलाया
हिकमत से ख़ामोश कराया
धीरे धीरे ख़ूब हुआ फिर
हर बच्चा मरऊब हुआ फिर
घर पहुँचा तो दादी ग़ुस्सा
देख के उसके हाथ में चिमटा
बोली तुझको कुछ ना सूझा ?
दिन भर का तू भूका प्यासा !
हामिद पूरी बात बताकर
रुका ज़रा सा,इक लम्हा भर
दादी ने उसको चिपटाया
आँसू का सैलाब बहाया
ग़ुस्सा बदल गया शफ़क़त में
डूब गया दिल इस चाहत में
नन्हा सा दिल मचला होगा
हसरत से सब देखा होगा
फिर भी मोल लिया इक चिमटा
इस मासूम ने क्या कर डाला
दादी पर रिक़्क़त तारी थी
हामिद पर हैरत तारी थी ।

Eid Gah…
Hamid a little boy
no one for her mom and dad
a grandmother died of poverty
old helpless and sad
Eid stood on whose head
Without seeing this army of sorrow
Grandma doesn’t have money
and Hamid the little boy

At last when Hamid comes home

When Hamid reached Eid Gah
Eid fair was every way
all his friends happily
were willing to buy
horse elephant
king queen and soldier
Lattu Whistle Ball and Swing
there were so many toys
Hamid thought greedily
and then thought with awe
these are useless toys
clay plush toys
will break as soon as you go home
Finished sweets just after eating
to be thrown in two days
who will you see then
Hamid again understood and tested
then bought pliers
her grandmother dear grandmother
gives him food and water
put bread on the hot pan

when friends laughed
