स्वास्तिक का रहस्य…

वैदिक ऋषियों ने अपने आध्यात्मिक अनुभवों के आधार पर कुछ विशेष चिन्हों की रचना की या यूँ कहें कि मंगल भाव को प्रकट करने वाले और जीवन में खुशियाँ भरने के लिए चिन्हों का निर्माण किया, उन्ही चिन्हों में से एक स्वस्तिक भी है. वैदिक ऋषि-मुनियों ने स्वस्तिक के रहस्य को और इसके धार्मिक, ज्योतिष और वास्तु के रहस्य व महत्व को भी बताया है. स्वस्तिक शब्दों को ‘सु’ एवं ‘अस्ति’ का मिश्रण योग माना जाता है. जहां ‘सु’ का अर्थ है शुभ और ‘अस्ति’ का अर्थ है- होना अर्थात ‘शुभ हो’, ‘कल्याण हो. आसन भाषा में स्वास्तिक का अर्थ होता है कुशल एवं कल्याण.

वर्तमान समय में स्वस्तिक का प्रयोग धर्म व संस्कृति के आधार पर अलग-अलग किया जाता है. बताते चलें कि, सिन्धु घाटी सभ्यता की खुदाई में कुछ ऐसे ही चिन्हों के अवशेष मिले हैं जिससे यह प्रमाणित होता है कि, कई हजार वर्ष पूर्व मानव सभ्यता अपने भवनों में इस मंगलकारी चिन्हों का प्रयोग करती थी. सिन्धु घाटी की खुदाई के दौरान मिलने वाली सामग्रियों में इन चिन्हों का प्रयोग खुदा हुआ मिला है. ज्ञात है कि, उदयगिरि और खंडगिरि की गुफा में भी स्वस्तिक के चिह्न मिले हैं. ऐतिहासिक साक्ष्यों में भी स्वस्तिक का महत्व भरा पड़ा है जैसे मोहन जोदड़ो, हड़प्पा संस्कृति व अशोक के शिलालेखों. इसके साथ ही हमारे पौराणिक धर्मग्रन्थों जैसे रामायण, महाभारत और हरिवंश पुराण में भी इसका उल्लेख मिलता है.

स्वस्तिक को नेपाल में ‘हेरंब’ के नाम से पूजित होते हैं जबकि बर्मा में इसे ‘प्रियेन्ने’ के नाम से जाना जाता है. मिस्र में ‘एक्टन’ के नाम से स्वस्तिक की पूजा होती है जबकि प्राचीन यूरोप में सेल्ट नामक एक सभ्यता थी, जो जर्मनी से इंग्लैंड तक फैली थी वहां स्वस्तिक को सूर्यदेव का प्रतीक माना जाता था. स्वस्तिक को यूरोप के चारों मौसमों का प्रतीक भी माना जाता था. मिस्र और अमेरिका में भी स्वस्तिक का काफी प्रचलन रहा है. इन जगहों के लोग पिरामिड के पुनर्जन्म से जोड़कर देखा करते थे जबकि प्राचीन मिस्र में ओसिरिस को पुनर्जन्म का देवता माना जाता था और हमेशा उसे चार हाथ वाले तारे के रूप में बताने के साथ ही पिरामिड को सूली लिखकर दर्शाते थे. जबकि, मध्य एशिया के देशों में स्वस्तिक का निशान मांगलिक एवं सौभाग्य का सूचक माना जाता है. प्राचीन इराक (मेसोपोटेमिया) में अस्त्र-शस्त्र पर विजय प्राप्त करने हेतु स्वस्तिक चिह्न का प्रयोग किया जाता था. उत्तर-पश्‍चिमी बुल्गारिया के व्रात्स (vratsa) नगर के संग्रहालय में चल रही एक प्रदर्शनी में 7,000 वर्ष प्राचीन कुछ मिट्टी की कलाकृतियां रखी हुई थीं जिस पर स्वस्तिक का चिह्न बना हुआ था. बताते चलें कि, व्रास्ता शहर के निकट अल्तीमीर नामक गांव में खुदाई के दौरान धार्मिक यज्ञ कुंड व कलाकृतियां मिली थीं.

ज्ञात है कि, स्वस्तिक का आविष्कार आर्यों ने किया और पूरे विश्‍व में यह फैल गया. जैन धर्म के 24 तीर्थंकरों और उनके चिह्न में स्वस्तिक को शामिल किया गया है जो तीर्थंकर सुपार्श्वनाथ का शुभ चिह्न माना जाता है. जैन लेखों से संबंधित प्राचीन गुफाओं और मंदिरों की दीवारों पर भी यह स्वस्तिक प्रतीक अंकित मिलता है. बौद्ध मान्यता के अनुसार स्वस्तिक वनस्पति संपदा की उत्पत्ति का कारण है. बौद्ध धर्म में स्वस्तिक को अच्छे भाग्य का प्रतीक भी माना गया है जो भगवान बुद्ध के पग चिह्नों को दर्शाता है. यही नहीं, स्वस्तिक भगवान बुद्ध के हृदय, हथेली और पैरों में भी अंकित है. यहूदी और ईसाई धर्म में भी स्वस्तिक का विशेष महत्व है और इसे क्रॉस के रूप में चिह्नित करता है. वही कुछ लोग, स्वस्तिक को ईसाई धर्म में पुनर्जन्म का भी प्रतीक मानते हैं.

स्वस्तिक को अगर हम देखें तो पता चलता है कि, एक-दूसरे को काटती हुई दो  सीधी रेखाएं होती हैं, जो आगे चलकर मुड़ जाती हैं. इसके बाद भी ये रेखाएं अपने सिरों पर थोड़ी और आगे की तरफ मुड़ होती हैं. ज्ञात है कि, स्वस्तिक की यह आकृति दो प्रकार की हो सकती हैं.

पहला स्वस्तिक जिसमें रेखाएं आगे की ओर इंगित करती हुई हमारे दाईं ओर मुड़ती हैं उसे  ‘दक्षिणावर्त स्वस्तिक’ कहा जाता है.  दूसरी आकृति पीछे की ओर संकेत करती हुई हमारे बाईं ओर मुड़ती है इसे ‘वामावर्त स्वस्तिक’ कहा जाता है. स्वस्तिक का आरंभिक आकार पूर्व से पश्चिम एक खड़ी रेखा और उसके ऊपर दूसरी दक्षिण से उत्तर आड़ी रेखा के रूप में तथा इसकी चारों भुजाओं के सिरों पर पूर्व से एक-एक रेखा जोड़ी जाती है, इसके बाद चारों रेखाओं के मध्य में एक बिंदु लगाया जाता है. बताते चलें कि, स्वस्तिक को 7 अंगुल, 9 अंगुल या 9 इंच के प्रमाण में बनाए जाने का विधान है. मांगलिक कार्यों के अवसर पर पूजा स्थानों व दरवाजे की चौखट पर स्वस्तिक बनाने की भी परंपरा है.

हिन्दू धर्म में स्वस्तिक को शक्ति, सौभाग्य, समृद्धि और मंगल का भी प्रतीक माना जाता है. घर के वास्तु को ठीक करने के लिए भी स्वस्तिक का प्रयोग किया जाता है. बताते चलें कि, स्वस्तिक के प्रयोग से घर की नकारात्मक ऊर्जा बाहर चली जाती है और इस चिन्ह को भाग्यवर्द्धक भी माना जाता है. पौराणिक धर्म ग्रन्थों के अनुसार, स्वस्तिक में भगवान गणेश और नारद की शक्तियां निहित होती है. वहीं दूसरी तरफ, स्वस्तिक को भगवान विष्णु और सूर्य का आसन भी माना जाता है. बताते चलें कि, स्वस्तिक का बायां हिस्सा गणेश की शक्ति का स्थान, जिसका बीज मन्त्र ‘गं’ होता है. इसमें जो चार बिंदियाँ होती है उनमें  गौरी, पृथ्वी, कच्छप और अनंत देवताओं का वास होता है. इस मंगल प्रतीक चिन्ह का प्रथम पूज्य भगवान गणेश की उपासना, धन, वैभव और ऐश्वर्य की देवी लक्ष्मी के साथ बही-खाते के पूजा की परंपरा आदि में विशेष स्थान प्राप्त होता है.

स्वस्तिक की खड़ी रेखा सृष्‍टि की उत्पत्ति का प्रतीक मन जाता है वहीं, आड़ी रेखा सृष्‍टि के विस्तार का प्रतीक माना जाता है. स्वस्तिक का मध्य बिंदु विष्णु का नाभि कमल है तो चार बिन्दुएँ चरों दिशाओं का प्रतीक माना जाता है. ऋग्वेद के अनुसार, स्वस्तिक को सूर्य का भी  प्रतीक माना गया है. स्वस्तिक सभी दिशाओं के महत्व को दर्शाता है. इसके चारो दिशाओं के अधिपति देवताओं-अग्नि, इन्द्र, वरुण एवं सोम की पूजा हेतु एवं सप्तऋषियों के आशीर्वाद को प्राप्त करने में प्रयोग किया जाता है. हिन्दू धर्म के चार महत्वपूर्ण सिद्धांत धर्म, अर्थ काम और मोक्ष का प्रतीक भी माना जाता है स्वस्तिक. चार वेदों का प्रतीक- ऋग्, यजु, साम और अथर्व और चार मार्ग ज्ञान, कर्म, योग और भक्ति का भी प्रतीक माना जाता है.

बताते चलें कि, यह मानव जीवन चक्र और समय का भी प्रतीक मान जाता है. जीवन चक्र में जन्म,  किशोरावस्था, जवानी और बुढ़ापा. वही चार आश्रम- ब्रह्मचर्य, गृहस्थ, वानप्रस्थ और संन्यास का भी प्रतीक माना जाता है. ज्ञात है कि, स्वस्तिक की चार भुजाएं चार गतियों- नरक, त्रियंच, मनुष्य एवं देव गति की द्योतक हैं वहीं समय चक्र में मौसम और काल भी शामिल होता है. यह चार युग का भी प्रतीक माना जाता है- सतयुग, त्रेतायुग, द्वापरयुग और कलियुग.

वास्तुशास्त्र में स्वस्तिक को वास्तु का प्रतीक मान गया है. इसकी बनावट ऐसी होती है कि यह हर दिशा से एक समान दिखाए देता है. घर के वास्तु को ठीक करने के लिए स्वस्तिक का प्रयोग किया जाता है. घर के मुख्य द्वार के दोनों और अष्‍ट धातु और उपर मध्य में तांबे का स्वस्तिक लगाने से सभी तरह का वस्तुदोष दूर होता है.*पंच धातु का स्वस्तिक बनवा के प्राण प्रतिष्ठा करने के बाद चौखट पर लगवाने से अच्छे परिणाम मिलते हैं. वहीं, चांदी में नवरत्न लगवाकर पूर्व दिशा में लगाने पर वास्तु दोष दूर होकर लक्ष्मी प्रप्ति होती है. वास्तुदोष दूर करने के लिए 9 अंगुल लंबा और चौड़ा स्वस्तिक सिंदूर से बनाने से नकारात्मक ऊर्जा सकारात्मकता में बदल जाती है. धार्मिक कार्यों में रोली, हल्दी या सिंदूर से बना स्वस्तिक आत्मसंतुष्‍टी देता है साथ ही त्योहारों पर द्वार के बाहर रंगोली के साथ कुमकुम, सिंदूर या रंगोली से बनाया गया स्वस्तिक मंगलकारी होता है. इसे बनाने से देवी और देवता घर में प्रवेश करते हैं.

Vedic sages created some special symbols on the basis of their spiritual experiences or rather they created symbols to express auspiciousness and fill happiness in life, one of those symbols is Swastik. Vedic sages have also explained the secret of Swastik and its religious, astrology, and Vastu secrets and importance. The words Swastika are considered to be a combination of ‘Su’ and ‘Asti’. Where ‘Su’ means auspicious and ‘Asti’ means to be, that is, ‘be auspicious’, ‘well being’. Swastik in the Asan language means skill and welfare.

At present, Swastik is used differently on the basis of religion and culture. Let us tell that, in the excavation of the Indus Valley Civilization, the remains of some such symbols have been found, which proves that many thousands of years ago, human civilization used these auspicious symbols in their buildings. The use of these symbols has been found inscribed in the materials found during the excavation of the Indus Valley. It is known that symbols of Swastika have also been found in the caves of Udayagiri and Khandagiri. The importance of the swastika is also found in historical evidence like Mohenjodaro, Harappa culture, and Ashoka’s inscriptions. Along with this, it is also mentioned in our mythological scriptures like Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Harivansh Purana.

Swastik is worshiped in Nepal by the name of ‘Heramb’ while in Burma it is known as ‘Priyenne’. Swastik is worshiped in Egypt by the name of ‘Acton’ while in ancient Europe there was a civilization called Celt, which spread from Germany to England, where Swastik was considered a symbol of the Sun God. Swastika was also considered a symbol of the four seasons of Europe. Swastika has been very popular in Egypt and America as well. The people of these places used to associate the pyramid with rebirth whereas in ancient Egypt, Osiris was considered the god of rebirth and always depicted him as a four-armed star with a crucifixion on the pyramid. Whereas, in the countries of Central Asia, the symbol of the Swastik is considered auspicious and an indicator of good luck. In ancient Iraq (Mesopotamia), the swastika symbol was used to win over weapons. Some 7,000-year-old clay artifacts with the swastika symbol were kept in an ongoing exhibition in the museum of the city of Vratsa in northwest Bulgaria. Let us tell you that, during the excavation in the village called Altimir near Vrasta city, religious yajna kund, and artifacts were found.

It is known that Aryans invented Swastik and it spread all over the world. The swastika is included in the 24 Tirthankaras of Jainism and their symbol, which is considered to be the auspicious symbol of Tirthankar Suparshwanath. This swastika symbol is also found inscribed on the walls of ancient caves and temples related to Jain writings. According to Buddhist belief, Swastika is the reason for the origin of vegetable wealth. The swastika is also considered a symbol of good fortune in Buddhism, which reflects the footprints of Lord Buddha. Not only this, but the swastika is also inscribed on the heart, palm, and feet of Lord Buddha. The swastika has special significance in Judaism and Christianity as well and marks it in the form of a cross. Some of the same people also consider Swastika as a symbol of rebirth in Christianity.

If we look at the Swastik, we come to know that there are two straight lines intersecting each other, which bend later. Even after this, these lines turn a little more forward at their ends. It is known that this shape of Swastik can be of two types.

The first swastika in which the lines point forward and turn towards our right is called the ‘Dakshinavarta swastika’. The second figure turns to our left indicating backward, it is called ‘Vamavarta Swastika’. The initial shape of the swastika is a vertical line from east to west and on top of it another horizontal line from south to north and one line each from the east is added at the ends of its four arms, after which a dot is placed in the middle of the four lines. Is. Let us tell you that there is a law to make Swastik in the form of 7 fingers, 9 fingers, or 9 inches. On the occasion of auspicious works, there is also a tradition of making swastikas on door frames and places of worship.

In the Hindu religion, Swastik is also considered a symbol of power, good fortune, prosperity, and auspiciousness. Swastik is also used to correct the Vastu of the house. Let us tell you that by using Swastik, the negative energy of the house goes out and this symbol is also considered to be lucky. According to mythological religious texts, the powers of Lord Ganesha and Narada are contained in the Swastika. On the other hand, Swastik is also considered as the seat of Lord Vishnu and Surya. Let us tell that the left side of the Swastika is the place of Ganesha’s power, whose seed mantra is ‘Gam’. The four bindis in it are the abodes of the Gauri, Prithvi, Kachhap, and Anant deities. The worship of Lord Ganesha, the first worshiper of this auspicious symbol, gets a special place in the tradition of worshiping the account books along with Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, splendor, and opulence.

The vertical line of the swastika is considered to be the symbol of the origin of the universe, while the horizontal line is considered to be the symbol of the expansion of the universe. The center point of the Swastika is the navel lotus of Vishnu, then the four points are considered to be the symbols of the four directions. According to Rigveda, Swastik is also considered the symbol of the Sun. Swastik shows the importance of all the directions. It is used for worshiping the presiding deities of all four directions – Agni, Indra, Varun, and Som and for receiving the blessings of the seven sages. Swastik is also considered a symbol of the four important principles of Hinduism, Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha. The symbol of the four Vedas – Rig, Yaju, Sama, and Atharva and the four paths of knowledge, karma, yoga, and devotion is also considered a symbol.

Let us tell you that, it is also considered a symbol of the human life cycle and time. Birth, adolescence, youth, and old age in the life cycle. It is also considered to be the symbol of the four ashrams – Brahmacharya, Grihastha, Vanaprastha, and Sannyasa. It is known that the four arms of the swastika represent the four motions – Hell, Triancha, Manush, and Dev, while the cycle of time also includes seasons and time. It is also considered a symbol of four ages – Satyug, Tretayug, Dwaparayug, and Kaliyug.

In Vastu Shastra, Swastik is considered the symbol of Vastu. Its texture is such that it shows the same from every direction. Swastik is used to correct the Vastu of the house. Placing a copper swastika on both sides of the main door and in the middle of the eight metals and in the upper center removes all kinds of material defects. On the other hand, by putting Navratna in silver and applying it in the east direction, Vastu defects are removed and Lakshmi is attained. To remove Vastu dosh, making 9 fingers long and wide Swastik with vermilion turns negative energy into positivity. Swastik made of roli, turmeric, or vermilion gives self-satisfaction in religious functions, as well as swastika made of kumkum, vermilion, or rangoli with rangoli outside the door on festivals is auspicious. By making this the Gods and Goddesses enter the house.
