1. राजनीतिज्ञ पंडित विश्वंभर नाथ: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1832 को पंडित विश्वंभर नाथ का जन्म दिल्ली में एक सम्पन्न और प्रतिष्ठित परिवार में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम ‘बद्रीनाथ’ जो कि उच्च सरकारी पद पर थे. विश्वंभर की प्रारंभिक शिक्षा घर पर हुई था. वर्ष 1857 के स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के बाद विश्वंभर नाथ कुछ दिन पुलिस में रहे और उसके बाद क़ानून की परीक्षा पास करके वकालत करने लगे थे. वर्ष 1888 में पंडित विश्वंभर नाथ कांग्रेस से जुड़ गये. वे ‘इम्पीरियल लेजिस्लेटिव कौंसिल’ और ‘उत्तर प्रदेश कौंसिल’ के भी सदस्य रहे थे.
2. क्रांतिकारी बिपिन चंद्र पाल: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1858 को क्रांतिकारी बिपिन चंद्र पाल का जन्म बंगाल में हबीबगंज ज़िले के पोइल गाँव (वर्तमान में बांग्लादेश) में हुआ था. ‘वंदे मातरम्’ पत्रिका के संस्थापक रहे पाल एक बड़े समाज सुधारक भी थे. जिन्होंने परिवार के विरोध के बावज़ूद एक विधवा से शादी की थी. वर्ष 1907 में बाल गंगाधर तिलक की गिरफ़्तारी और ब्रितानिया हुकूमत द्वारा चलाए गए दमन के समय पाल इंग्लैंण्ड गए. वर्ष 1921 में भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के अधिवेशन में पाल ने अध्यक्षीय भाषण में गांधीजी की आलोचना करते हुए कहा था- “आप जादू चाहते हैं, लेकिन मैं तर्क में विश्वास करता हूँ। आप मंत्रम चाहते हैं, लेकिन मैं कोई ­ऋषि नहीं हूँ और मंत्रम नहीं दे सकता”. पाल ने आज़ादी की लड़ाई के दौरान विदेशी कपड़ों की होली जलाने और हड़ताल जैसे आंदोलनों में बढ़-चढ़कर भूमिका निभाई थी.
3. अंतिम बादशाह बहादुर शाह ज़फ़र: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1862 में मुग़ल साम्राज्य के अंतिम बादशाह बहादुर शाह ज़फ़र का निधन रंगून में हुआ था.
4. कवि और उपन्यासकार बंकिम चन्द्र चट्टोपाध्याय: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1874 में कवि और उपन्यासकार बंकिम चन्द्र चट्टोपाध्याय ने कांतल पाडा नामक गाँव में वन्दे मातरम् गीत की रचना की थी. जिसे बाद में आनन्द मठ नामक उपन्यास में शामिल किया गया था. ज्ञात ही कि वन्देमातरम् गीत को सबसे पहले 1896 में कांग्रेस के कलकत्ता अधिवेशन में गाया गया था.
5. वैज्ञानिक चंद्रशेखर वेंकट रामन: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1888 को वैज्ञानिक चंद्रशेखर वेंकट रामन का जन्म तमिलनाडु के तिरुचिरापल्ली में हुआ था. इनके पिता का नाम चंद्रशेखर अय्यर जो कि शिक्षक थे.वह भौतिकी और गणित के विद्वान् और संगीत प्रेमी थे जबकि उनकी माँ का नाम पार्वती अम्माल था. रामन का विज्ञान और अंग्रेज़ी साहित्य की पुस्तकों से परिचय बहुत छोटी उम्र से ही हो गया था साथ ही उन्हें संगीत में भी रूचि थी. रामन महज 11 वर्ष की उम्र में दसवीं की परीक्षा में प्रथम आये थे. रामन ने ‘प्रेसीडेंसी कॉलेज’ में बी. ए. में प्रवेश लिया और वर्ष 1905 में प्रथम श्रेणी में उत्तीर्ण होने वाले वह अकेले छात्र थे और उन्हें उस वर्ष का ‘स्वर्ण पदक’ भी प्राप्त हुआ था. उन्होंने ‘प्रेसीडेंसी कॉलेज’ से ही एम. ए. में प्रवेश लिया और मुख्य विषय के रूप में भौतिक शास्त्र को लिया था. आमतौर पर रामन कॉलेज की प्रयोगशाला में कुछ प्रयोग और खोजें करते रहते थे. वर्ष 1906 में पत्रिका के नवम्बर अंक में उनका पेपर प्रकाशित हुआ था. अध्यापकों ने रामन के पिता को सलाह दी कि वह रामन को उच्च शिक्षा के लिए इंग्लैंड भेंज दें. वर्ष 1917 में रामन कलकत्ता विश्वविद्यालय में भौतिक विज्ञान के प्राध्यापक नियुक्त हुए थे. फोटोन्स में ऊर्जा की कुछ कमी और इसके परिणाम स्वरूप स्पेक्ट्रम में कुछ असाधारण रेखाएँ होना ‘रामन इफेक्ट’ कहलाता है. रामन ने 16 मार्च को अपनी खोज ‘नई रेडियेशन’ के ऊपर बंगलौर में स्थित साउथ इंडियन साइन्स एसोसिएशन में भाषण दिया था. वर्ष 1933 में डॉ. रामन को बंगलुरु में स्थापित ‘इंडियन इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ साइंसेज़’ के संचालन का भार सौंपा गया था. डॉ.रामन अपने संस्थान में जीवन के अंतिम दिनों तक शोधकार्य करते रहे.
6. कृषक नेता तथा सांसद एन.जी. रंगा: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1900 को कृषक नेता तथा सांसद एन.जी. रंगा का जन्म आन्ध्र प्रदेश के गुंटूर ज़िले में हुआ था. बचपन में ही इनके माता-पिता का निधन हो गया था. गुंटूर में स्नातक की शिक्षा पूरी करने के बाद एन.जी. रंगा ‘आई. सी. एस.’ की परीक्षा देने के उद्देश्य से 1920 में इंग्लैण्ड गए, परन्तु ‘ऑक्सफ़ोर्ड विश्वविद्यालय’ में जी. डी. एच. कोल, ब्रेल्सफ़ोर्ड, रेडफ़ोर्ड जैसे समाजवादी विचारकों के प्रभाव में आकर रंगा ने अपने विचार बदल लिए और उन्होंने साहित्य की डिग्री ली थी. रंगा के ऊपर विपिन चन्द्र पाल तथा अन्य क्रान्तिकारियों के साथ-साथ प्राचीन भारतीय साहित्य, रामायण, महाभारत का भी प्रभाव पड़ा था. रंगा ने किसानों को संगठित करने के काम में जुट गए और अखिल भारतीय कांग्रेस कमेटी’ के सदस्य सात ही ‘आन्ध्र प्रदेश कांग्रेस कमेटी’ के अध्यक्ष बने थे. रंगा कृषि उत्पादकों के अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन के संस्थापक सदस्य थे. स्वतंत्रता संग्राम में भाग लेने के कारण उन्हें कई बार जेल की सज़ाएँ भी भोगनी पड़ीं थी. राजगोपालाचारी के साथ 1959 में रंगा ‘स्वतंत्र पार्टी’ में सम्मिलित हुए और उसके अध्यक्ष भी बने थे. स्वतन्त्रता प्राप्ति के पश्चात् वे लोक सभा के सदस्य बने तथा लगातार आठ बार लोक सभा के लिए चुने गए, जो कीर्तिमान है.
7. राजनीतिज्ञ अश्विनी कुमार दत्त: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1923 में राजनीतिज्ञ अश्विनी कुमार दत्त का निधन कोलकत्ता में हुआ था.
8. अभिनेता कमल हसन: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1954 में अभिनेता कमल हसन का जन्म परमकुड़ी, मद्रास में हुआ था. कमल हसन ने अपने कैरियर की शुरुआत बाल कलाकार के तौर पर ए. भीमसिंह द्वारा निर्देशित फिल्म कलत्तूर कन्नम्मा से की थी.  इस फ़िल्म में उन्होंने  सर्वश्रेष्ठ बाल कलाकार के लिए राष्ट्रीय फ़िल्म पुरस्कार भी जीता था. कमल हसन अभिनय और निर्देशन के अलावा, वे एक पटकथा लेखक, गीतकार, पार्श्वगायक और कोरियोग्राफर हैं.
9. अभिनेत्री रितुपर्णा सेनगुप्ता: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1971 को रितुपर्णा सेनगुप्ता का जन्म कलकत्ता में हुआ था. सेनगुप्ता बचपन से ही कला में सक्रिय थीं और चित्रांगशु नामक चित्रकारी विद्यालय में चित्रकारी, नृत्य, गायन और हस्तशिल्प की शिक्षा लीं थीं. उन्होंने माउंट कार्मेल स्कूल में अपनी स्कूली शिक्षा प्राप्त की और बाद में लेडी ब्रेबॉर्न कॉलेज में इतिहास से स्नातक की उपाधि हासिल की थी. रितुपर्णा सेनगुप्ता ने अपने अभिनय कैरियर की शुरुआत वर्ष 1992 में बंगाली फिल्म शेत पाथरेर थाला से की थी. रितुपर्णा सेनगुप्ता ने हिंदी फिल्मों में अभिनय कैरियर की शुरुआत वर्ष 1994 में फिल्म ‘तीसरा कौन’ से की थी.
10. चिकित्सक जीवराज मेहता: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1978 में चिकित्सक जीवराज मेहता का निधन हो गया था.
11. अभिनेत्री अनुष्का शेट्टी: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1981 को अभिनेत्री अनुष्का शेट्टी का जन्म मैंगलोर, कर्नाटक में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम एएन विट्टल शेट्टी है और उनकी माता का नाम प्रफुल्ल शेट्टी है. उन्होंने अपनी स्कूली शिक्षा सेंट अलॉयसियस स्कूल, मैंगलोर से पूरी की और माउंट कार्मेल कॉलेज, बैंगलोर से स्नातक की उपाधि प्राप्त की थी. उन्होंने अपने कैरियर की शुरुआत मॉडलिंग से की थी. अनुष्का ने अपने अभिनय की शुरुआत वर्ष 2005 में तेलुगू फिल्म ‘सुपर’ से की थी. अनुष्का शेट्टी ने हिंदी फ़िल्मी कैरियर की शुरुआत वर्ष 2015 में बाहुबली से की थी. उन्होंने अब तक 50 से अधिक फिल्मों में अभिनय किया है.
12. हरित क्रांति के जनक सी. सुब्रह्मण्यम: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2000 वको हरित क्रांति के जनक सी. सुब्रह्मण्यम का निधन हुआ था.
13. समाज सेविका तारा चेरियन: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2000 को समाज सेविका तारा चेरियन का निधन हुआ था.
14. फंड बनाने पर सहमत: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2006 में भारत और आसियान विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी के विकास के लिए एक फंड बनाने पर सहमत हुए थे.
15. जनतादल (यूनाइटेड) के लोकसभा सदस्यों ने इस्तीफ़ा दिया: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2008 में बिहार के जनतादल (यूनाइटेड) के लोकसभा सदस्यों ने उनकी मांगों को नहीं मानने के कारण अपने पद से इस्तीफ़ा दिया था.
16. कवि रहमान राही: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2007 में कश्मीर के प्रसिद्ध कवि रहमान राही को ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार प्रदान किया गया था.
17. कवि बप्पादित्य बंदोपाध्याय: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2015 में कवि बप्पादित्य बंदोपाध्याय का निधन कोलकत्ता में हुआ था.

1. Politician Pandit Vishwambhar Nath: – On this day in the year 1832, Pandit Vishwambhar Nath was born into a rich and prestigious family in Delhi. His father’s name was ‘Badrinath’ who held a high government post. Vishwambhar’s early education took place at home. After the freedom struggle of 1857, Vishwambhar Nath stayed in the police for a few days and after passing the law examination, he started practising law. In the year 1888, Pandit Vishwambhar Nath joined Congress. He was also a member of the ‘Imperial Legislative Council’ and ‘Uttar Pradesh Council’.
2. Revolutionary Bipin Chandra Pal: – On this day in the year 1858, revolutionary Bipin Chandra Pal was born in Poil village of Habibganj district in Bengal (presently in Bangladesh). Pal, the founder of ‘Vande Mataram magazine, was also a great social reformer, who married a widow despite opposition from his family. In the year 1907, during the arrest of Bal Gangadhar Tilak and the repression carried out by the British government, Pal went to England. In the year 1921, in the session of the Indian National Congress, Pal criticized Gandhiji in his presidential speech and said – “You want magic, but I believe in logic. You want mantram, but I am no sage and no mantram. Can give”. During the freedom struggle, Pal played an active role in movements like the burning of foreign clothes and strikes.
3. Last Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar: – On this day in the year 1862, the last emperor of the Mughal Empire, Bahadur Shah Zafar, died in Rangoon.
4. Poet and novelist Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay: – On this day in the year 1874, poet and novelist Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay composed the song Vande Mataram in a village called Kantal Pada. Which was later included in the novel named Anand Math. It is known that the song Vande Mataram was first sung in the Calcutta session of Congress in 1896.
5. Scientist Chandrashekhar Venkata Raman: – On this day in the year 1888, scientist Chandrasekhar Venkata Raman was born in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. His father’s name was Chandrashekhar Iyer, he was a teacher. He was a scholar of physics and mathematics and a music lover, while his mother’s name was Parvati Ammal. Raman was introduced to science and English literature books from a very young age and he was also interested in music. Raman stood first in the 10th class examination at the age of just 11 years. Raman did a B.Sc in ‘Presidency College’. A. He took admission and in the year 1905, he was the only student to pass in the first division and he also received the ‘Gold Medal’ of that year. He did his M.A. from ‘Presidency College’. Took admission and took Physics as the main subject. Usually, Raman used to do some experiments and discoveries in the college laboratory. His paper was published in the November issue of the magazine in the year 1906. The teachers advised Raman’s father to send Raman to England for higher education. In the year 1917, Raman was appointed professor of physics at Calcutta University. Some loss of energy in photons and the resulting appearance of some extraordinary lines in the spectrum is called the ‘Raman effect’. On March 16, Raman gave a speech at the South Indian Science Association in Bangalore on his discovery of ‘New Radiation’. In the year 1933, Dr. Raman was given the responsibility of running the ‘Indian Institute of Sciences’ established in Bangalore. Dr. Raman continued doing research in his institute till the last days of his life.
6. Farmer leader and MP N.G. Ranga: – On this day in the year 1900, farmer leader and MP N.G. Ranga was born in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. His parents died in his childhood. After completing his graduation in Guntur, N.G. Ranga ‘I. C.S.’ Went to England in 1920 to appear for the M.Sc. examination, but at ‘Oxford University’, G. Under the influence of socialist thinkers like D.H. Cole, Brailsford, and Radford, Ranga changed his views and took a degree in literature. Ranga was influenced by Vipin Chandra Pal and other revolutionaries as well as ancient Indian literature, Ramayana and Mahabharata. Ranga started organizing the farmers and seven members of the All India Congress Committee became the president of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee. Ranga was a founding member of the International Conference of Agricultural Producers. Due to his participation in the freedom struggle, he had to face jail sentences several times. Ranga joined the ‘Swatantra Party’ in 1959 along with Rajagopalachari and also became its president. After independence, he became a member of the Lok Sabha and was elected to the Lok Sabha eight consecutive times, which is a record.

8. Actor Kamal Haasan: – On this day in the year 1954, actor Kamal Haasan was born in Paramakudi, Madras. Kamal Haasan started his career as a child artist with A. The film was directed by Bhimsingh from Kalathoor Kannamma. In this film, he also won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist. Apart from acting and directing, Kamal Haasan is a screenwriter, lyricist, playback singer and choreographer.
9. Actress Rituparna Sengupta: – On this day in the year 1971, Rituparna Sengupta was born in Calcutta. Sengupta was active in art since childhood and studied painting, dance, singing and handicrafts at a painting school called Chitrangshu. She received her schooling at Mount Carmel School and later graduated in History at Lady Brabourne College. Rituparna Sengupta started her acting career in the year 1992 with the Bengali film Shet Patherer Thala. Rituparna Sengupta started her acting career in Hindi films in the year 1994 with the film ‘Teesra Kaun’.

He completed his schooling at St. Aloysius School, Mangalore and graduated from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. She started her career with modelling. Anushka started her acting career in 2005 with the Telugu film ‘Super’. Anushka Shetty started her Hindi film career in 2015 with Baahubali. He has acted in more than 50 films so far.
