- आचार्य नरेंद्र देव: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1889 में आचार्य नरेंद्र देव का जन्म कार्तिक शुक्ल अष्टमी को उत्तर प्रदेश के सीतापुर में एक कायस्थ परिवार में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम बलदेव प्रसाद था जो कि अपने समय के मशहूर वकील थे. आचार्य नरेन्द्रदेव अध्यापक के रूप में उच्च कोटि के निष्ठावान अध्यापक और महान शिक्षाविद् थे. देश को स्वतंत्र कराने का जुनून ही आचार्य नरेंद्र देव स्वतंत्रता आन्दोलन में खींच लाया और भारत की आर्थिक दशा व गरीबों की दुर्दशा ने उन्हें समाजवादी बना दिया था.
- भौतिक विज्ञानी प्रोफेसर होमी जे. भाभा: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1909 में भौतिक विज्ञानी प्रोफेसर होमी जे. भाभा का जन्म मुंबई के पारसी परिवार था. उनके पिता का नाम जहांगीर भाभा और माता का नाम मेहरबाई भाभा था. उनकी शिक्षा मुंबई में हुई थी साथ ही उनकी उच्च शिक्षा कैम्ब्रिज विश्वविद्यालय में हुई थी. भाभा ने जर्मनी में कास्मिक किरणों पर अध्ययन और प्रयोग किए थे. भाभा ने परमाणु विज्ञान के क्षेत्र में एक शक्तिशाली भारत की कल्पना की थी. बताते चलें कि, भाभा को भारत के परमाणु कार्यक्रम का जनक भी कहा जाता है. भाभा ने परमाणु कार्यक्रम के निदेशक के रूप में कार्य किया और भारत के परमाणु कार्यक्रम को शुरू करने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई थी. वो टाटा इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ फंडामेंटल रिसर्च (TIFR) और भाभा परमाणु अनुसंधान केंद्र (BARC) के संस्थापक निदेशक भी थे.
- मध्य प्रदेश के भूतपूर्व राज्यपाल भाई महावीर: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1922 में मध्य प्रदेश के भूतपूर्व राज्यपाल भाई महावीर का जन्म ब्रिटिश शासन काल में लाहौर में हुआ था. इनके पिता प्रसिद्ध स्वतंत्रता सेनानी भाई परमानन्द थे, जिन्हें अंग्रेज़ों ने काला पानी की सज़ा दी थी. महावीर ने वर्ष 1938 में राष्ट्रीय स्वयं सेवक संघ (आर.एस.एस.) में कार्य करना शुरू किया था. महावीर ने वर्ष 1944 में ‘डी.ए.वी. कॉलेज’, लाहौर में अर्थशास्त्र के व्याख्याता के रूप में कार्य करना प्रारंभ किया था. वे सांध्य कालीन डी.ए.वी. कॉलेज दिल्ली (स्नातकोत्तर) में अर्थशास्त्र के प्राचार्य और प्राध्यापक भी रहे थे. भाई महावीर ‘भारतीय जनसंघ’ के संस्थापक सदस्यों में से एक हैं. वे भारतीय जनसंघ के पहले महासचिव थे. वर्ष 1968 -69 में वे ‘दिल्ली प्रदेश जनसंघ’ के अध्यक्ष भी रहे थे. वे भारतीय जनता पार्टी की राष्ट्रीय कार्यकारिणी के सदस्य भी रहे थे. आपातकाल के दौरान भाई महावीर 19 माह तक जेल में रहे और सज़ा भी काटी थी. भाई महावीर ने 22 अप्रैल, 1998 को मध्य प्रदेश के राज्यपाल के पद की शपथ ग्रहण की थी.
