1. पुनर्विवाह को कानूनी मान्यता:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1856 में हिंदू विधवाओं के पुनर्विवाह को कानूनी मान्यता प्रदान की गई थी. हिंदू विधवा पुनर्विवाह सर्वप्रथम लॉर्ड डलहौजी द्वारा तैयार किया गया था और वर्ष 1857 के भारतीय विद्रोह से पहले लॉर्ड कैनिंग द्वारा पारित किया गया था. वर्ष 1829 में लॉर्ड विलियम बेंटिक द्वारा सती प्रथा के उन्मूलन के बाद यह पहला प्रमुख सामाजिक सुधार कानून था. क्या है हिंदू विधवा पुनर्विवाह अधिनियम 1856 के प्रावधान:-   A. भारत के पहले गवर्नर लॉर्ड कैनिंग ने भारत में विधवा पुनर्विवाह अधिनियम 1856 को इम्प्लीमेंट किया था.  B. इस अधिनियम ने हिंदू विधवाओं के दोबारा शादी करने को वैध कर दिया था.   C. कानून के हिसाब से “हिंदुओं के बीच में हुई शादी अमान्य नहीं होगी.
2. नागरीप्रचारिणी सभा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1893 में नागरीप्रचारिणी सभा, हिन्दी भाषा और साहित्य तथा देवनागरी लिपि की उन्नति तथा प्रचार और प्रसार करने वाली देश की अग्रणी संस्था की स्थापना हुई थी. बताते चलें कि, काशी नागरीप्रचारिणी सभा की स्थापना श्यामसुंदर दास ने की थी. यह वह समय था जब अँगरेजी, उर्दू और फारसी का बोलबाला था तथा हिंदी का प्रयोग करनेवाले बड़ी हेय दृष्टि से देखे जाते थे.श्यामसुन्दर दास, महामहोपाध्याय सुधाकर द्विवेदी, कालीदास और राधाकृष्ण दास इसके सम्पादक थे.
3. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी अरुणा आसफ अली:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1909 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी अरुणा आसफ अली का जन्म बंगाली परिवार में हरियाणा, तत्कालीन पंजाब के ‘कालका’ नामक स्थान में हुआ था. इनका परिवार जाति से ब्राह्मण था. इनका वास्तविक नाम ‘अरुणा गांगुली’ था. अरुणा की स्कूली शिक्षा नैनीताल में हुई थी. बचपन में ही उन्होंने अपनी बुद्धिमत्ता और चतुरता की धाक जमा दी थी. लाहौर और नैनीताल से पढ़ाई पूरी करने के बाद वह शिक्षिका बन गई और कोलकाता के ‘गोखले मेमोरियल कॉलेज’ में अध्यापन कार्य करने लगीं.अरुणा जी ने 19 वर्ष की आयु में सन 1928 ई. में अपना अंतर्जातीय प्रेम विवाह दिल्ली के सुविख्यात वकील और कांग्रेस के नेता आसफ़ अली से कर लिया. इस विवाह ने अरुणा के जीवन की दिशा बदल दी.परतंत्रता में भारत की दुर्दशा और अंग्रेज़ों के अत्याचार देखकर विवाह के उपरांत अरुणा आसफ़ अली स्वतंत्रता-संग्राम में सक्रिय भाग लेने लगीं. उन्होंने महात्मा गांधी और मौलाना अबुल क़लाम आज़ाद की सभाओं में भाग लेना प्रारम्भ कर दिया था साथ ही  उनके साथ कर्मठता, से राजनीति में भाग लेने लगीं, वे फिर लोकनायक जयप्रकाश नारायण, राम मनोहर लोहिया और अच्युत पटवर्द्धन के साथ कांग्रेस ‘सोशलिस्ट पार्टी’ से संबद्ध हो गईं.अरुणा आसफ अली के ऊपर जयप्रकाश नारायण, डॉ. राम मनोहर लोहिया, अच्युत पटवर्धन जैसे समाजवादियों के विचारों का अधिक प्रभाव पड़ा. इसी कारण वर्ष 1942 ई. के ‘भारत छोड़ो आन्दोलन’ में अरुणा जी ने अंग्रेज़ों की जेल में बन्द होने के बदले भूमिगत रहकर अपने अन्य साथियों के साथ आन्दोलन का नेतृत्व करना उचित समझा. भूमिगत जीवन से बाहर आने के बाद वर्ष 1947 ई. में श्रीमती अरुणा आसफ़ अली दिल्ली प्रदेश कांग्रेस कमेटी की अध्यक्षा निर्वाचित की गईं.
4. नाटककार जगदीशचन्द्र माथुर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1917 में नाटककार जगदीशचन्द्र माथुर का जन्म खुर्जा, बुलंदशहर ज़िला, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ था. उनकी प्रारंभिक शिक्षा खुर्जा में हुई थी.  उसके बाद उच्च शिक्षा युइंग क्रिश्चियन कॉलेज, इलाहाबाद और प्रयाग विश्वविद्यालय में हुई. हिन्दी के प्रसिद्ध साहित्यकारों में से एक थे, जिन्होंने आकाशवाणी में काम करते हुए हिन्दी की लोकप्रियता के विकास में महत्वपूर्ण योगदान किया. टेलीविज़न उन्हीं के जमाने में वर्ष 1949 में शुरू हुआ था. हिन्दी और भारतीय भाषाओं के तमाम बड़े लेखकों को माथुर ही रेडियो में लेकर आए थे. माथुर ने वर्ष 1930 में तीन छोटे नाटकों के माध्यम से वे अपनी सृजनशीलता की धारा के प्रति उन्मुख हुए थे.
5. बोस को 6 महीने का कारावास:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1921 में सुभाष चन्द्र बोस को पहली बार 6 महीने का कारावास दिया गया था.बताते चलें कि, सार्वजनिक जीवन में सुभाष को कुल 11 बार कारावास की सजा दी गई थी
6. भूतपूर्व भारतीय थल सेना प्रमुख के. वी. कृष्ण राव:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1923 में भूतपूर्व भारतीय थल सेना प्रमुख के. वी. कृष्ण राव का जन्म मद्रास (आज़ादी पूर्व) भारत में हुआ था. उन्होंने 1971 के बांग्लादेश मुक्ति संग्राम में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई थी. के. वी. कृष्ण राव 1989-1990 में जम्मू-कश्मीर के राज्यपाल थे, जब राज्य में आतंकवाद अपने चरम पर था. वह भारतीय सेना के 14वें प्रमुख थे और सेना में उन्होंने चार दशक से ज्यादा समय तक सेवा दी.
7. राजनीतिज्ञ आर.के. धवन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1937 में राजनीतिज्ञ आर. के. धवन जो भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के नेता और राज्य सभा सांसद का जन्म हुआ था.
8. राजनीतिज्ञ भागवत कराड:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1956 में राजनीतिज्ञ भागवत कराड जो महाराष्ट्र से राज्य सभा सांसद का जन्म चिखली, लातूर जिला में हुआ था.
9. हॉकी कप्तान धनराज पिल्ले:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1968 में हॉकी कप्तान धनराज पिल्ले का जन्म महाराष्ट्र राज्य के पुणे ज़िले में खड़की नामक स्थान पर हुआ था. उनके माता-पिता का नाम है नागालिन्गम पिल्लै और अन्दालम्मा.भारतीय खेल जगत् में हॉकी खिलाड़ी धनराज पिल्लै का नाम बहुत गर्व से लिया जाता है. हॉकी के इतिहास में सर्वश्रेष्ठ सेन्टर फारवर्ड खिलाड़ी समझे जाने वाले धनराज की तुलना क्रिकेट के सचिन तेंदुलकर से की जाती है. धनराज पिल्ले ने हॉकी की शुरुआत  पुणे के एस.बी.एस. हाईस्कूल से की थी. धनराज पिल्लै को वर्ष 1994 में ‘वर्ल्ड इलेवन टीम’ के लिए चुना गया. वर्ष 1998 में उन्होंने भारतीय टीम का नेतृत्व हालैंड में विश्व कप में किया. पहली बार वर्ष 1992 में बेल्जियम, हालैण्ड, इंग्लैंड और स्पेन में हुई सीरीज में चुना गया और दूसरी बार वर्ष 1994 में लखनऊ में हुए ‘इन्दिरा गांधी गोल्ड कप टूर्नामेंट’ में उन्हें सर्वश्रेष्ठ खिलाड़ी चुना गया था.
10. अभिनेत्री कटरीना कैफ:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1984 में अभिनेत्री कटरीना कैफ का जन्म हॉन्ग कॉन्ग में, तुरकोट्टे कुल नाम के साथ हुआ था. उनके पिता मौहम्मद कैफ़ ब्रितानी करोबारी हैं जिनके पूर्वज कश्मीर से आयें थे और उनकी माँ अंग्रेज़ वकील और दान कार्यकर्ता है. कैटरीना जब बहुत छोटी थी तभी उनके माता-पिता का तलाक हो गया था और उनके माता पिता अलग हो गए थे. कैटरीना के जन्म के बाद, उनका परिवार कुछ दिन चीन में रहा फिर जापान में। वहाँ से फ्रांस जब वो आठ साल की थी, फिर वो कुछ-कुछ महीनों के लिये कभी स्विट्जरलैंड तो कभी पोलैंड तो कभी बेल्जियम और अन्य यूरोपीय देश में रहे. कैटरीना ने चौदह वर्ष की उम्र में हवाई में एक सौंदर्य प्रतियोगिता जीती थी तभी से वो मॉडलिंग कर रही हैं. कैटरीना एक ब्रितानी भारतीय अभिनेत्री और मॉडल हैं. कैटरीना कैफ़ के सफल मॉडलिंग कैरियर के बाद, वर्ष 2003 में कैटरीना ने व्यावसायिक रूप से असफल फ़िल्म बूम में एक भूमिका के साथ अपने अभिनय कैरियर की शुरुआत की थी. वर्ष 2009 में आई फ़िल्म न्यू यॉर्क जिसके लिये उन्हें फिल्मफेयर में सर्वश्रेष्ठ अभिनेत्री पुरस्कार का नामांकन मिला, ने उनके कैरियर को नया मोड़ दिया.
11. अभिनेत्री अंशा सैयद:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1988 में अभिनेत्री अंशा सैयद का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ था. वर्तमान समय में यह सोनी के सीआईडी नामक धारावाहिक में पूर्वी का किरदार निभा रही हैं. अंशा सयद ने अपने टेलीविजन कैरियर की शुरुआत 2005 में आहट 2 से की थी.
12. अभिनेत्री एकता आनंद:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2004 में फिल्म अभिनेत्री व मॉडल एकता आनंद का जन्म हुआ था.
13. कन्नड़ नाटककार के. वी. सुबन्ना:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2005 में कन्नड़ नाटककार के. वी. सुबन्ना का निधन हुआ था.
14. महापंजीयक और जनगणना आयुक्त के कार्यालय की एक रिपोर्ट के अनुसार:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2011में भारत के महापंजीयक और जनगणना आयुक्त के कार्यालय की एक रिपोर्ट के अनुसार पिछले दशक में देश की जनसंख्या में 64 प्रतिशत का इजाफ़ा हुआ है. यह वृद्धि गांवों में 12.18 और शहरी क्षेत्रों में 31.80 प्रतिशत की रही है.
15. भारतीय इतिहासकार बरुण डे:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2013 में इतिहासकार बरुण डे का निधन हुआ था.
16. मध्याह्न भोजन योजना:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2013 में बिहार के सारण जिले के धर्मशाला गंडामन के एक प्राथमिक विद्यालय में मध्याह्न भोजन योजना का खाना खाने से 27 बच्चों की मौत हो गई और 25 बच्चे अस्पताल में भर्ती हुए.
17. सिक्किम के भूतपूर्व दूसरे मुख्यमंत्री नर बहादुर भंडारी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2017 में सिक्किम के भूतपूर्व दूसरे मुख्यमंत्री नर बहादुर भंडारी का निधन हुआ था.
18. अभिनेत्री और टेलीविजन कलाकार सुरेखा सीकरी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2021 में अभिनेत्री और टेलीविजन कलाकार सुरेखा सीकरी का निधन हुआ था.

1. Legal recognition of remarriage: – On this day in the year 1856, the remarriage of Hindu widows was given legal recognition. Hindu widow remarriage was first drafted by Lord Dalhousie and passed by Lord Canning before the Indian Rebellion of 1857. It was the first major social reform act after the abolition of sati by Lord William Bentinck in 1829. What are the provisions of the Hindu Widow Remarriage Act 1856:- A. The first Governor of India Lord Canning implemented the Widow Remarriage Act 1856 in India. B. This act legalized the remarriage of Hindu widows.    C. According to the law “marriage between Hindus will not be invalid.
2. Nagripracharini Sabha: – On this day in the year 1893, the Nagripracharini Sabha, the country’s leading institution for the promotion and dissemination of the Hindi language and literature and Devanagari script, was established. Let us tell that, Kashi Nagripracharini Sabha was founded by Shyamsundar Das. This was the time when English, Urdu, and Persian were dominant and those using Hindi were looked down upon. Shyamsundar Das, Mahamahopadhyay Sudhakar Dwivedi, Kalidas, and Radhakrishna Das were its editors.
3. Freedom Fighter Aruna Asaf Ali:- On this day in the year 1909, freedom fighter Aruna Asaf Ali was born in a Bengali family in a place named ‘Kalka’ of Haryana, then Punjab. His family was Brahmin by caste. His real name was ‘Aruna Ganguly’. Aruna’s schooling was done in Nainital. In his childhood itself, he had accumulated the power of his intelligence and cleverness. After completing her studies in Lahore and Nainital, she became a teacher and started teaching at ‘Gokhale Memorial College’ in Kolkata. Aruna ji, at the age of 19, in 1928 AD, had an inter-caste love marriage with Delhi’s well-known lawyer and Congress leader. With the leader Asaf Ali. This marriage changed the direction of Aruna’s life. After seeing the plight of India in dependence and the atrocities of the British, Aruna Asaf Ali started actively participating in the freedom struggle. She started participating in the meetings of Mahatma Gandhi and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, as well as actively participating in politics with them, she then joined the Congress Socialist Party along with Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan, Ram Manohar Lohia, and Achyut Patwardhan. The ideas of socialists like Jayaprakash Narayan, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, and Achyut Patwardhan had more impact on Aruna Asaf Ali. For this reason, in the ‘Quit India Movement’ of the year 1942, instead of being imprisoned by the British, Aruna Ji thought it appropriate to remain underground and lead the movement along with her other companions. After coming out of underground life, in the year 1947, Mrs. Aruna Asaf Ali was elected as the President of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee.
4. Playwright Jagdishchandra Mathur:- On this day in the year 1917, playwright Jagdishchandra Mathur was born in Khurja, Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh. His early education was done in Khurja. After that higher education took place at Yuing Christian College, Allahabad, and Prayag University. He was one of the famous litterateurs of Hindi, who contributed significantly to the development of the popularity of Hindi while working in All India Radio. Television started in his era in the year 1949. It was Mathur who brought all the big writers of Hindi and Indian languages to the radio. In the year 1930, Mathur turned to the stream of his creativity through three short plays.
5. 06 months imprisonment to Bose:- On this day in the year 1921, Subhash Chandra Bose was given 6 months imprisonment for the first time. Let us tell you that in public life, Subhash was sentenced to imprisonment a total of 11 times.
6. Former Indian Army Chief K.K. V. Krishna Rao:- On this day in the year 1923, former Indian Army Chief K.K. V. Krishna Rao was born in Madras (pre-independence) India. He played an important role in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. Of. V. Krishna Rao was the governor of Jammu and Kashmir from 1989-1990 when militancy was at its peak in the state. He was the 14th Chief of the Indian Army and served in the army for more than four decades.
