1. प्रथम जल यात्रा आरंभ की:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1497 में वास्को द गामा ने यूरोप से भारत की प्रथम जलयात्रा आरंभ की थी.
2. राजनीतिज्ञ पी. एस. कुमारस्वामी राजा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1898 में पी. एस. कुमारस्वामी राजा का जन्म हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम पूसपति संजीवी राजा था. जब पी. एस. कुमारस्वामी राजा मात्र आठ दिन के थे, तभी इनकी माता का देहान्त हो गया और जब ये तीन साल के हुए, तब पिता का भी निधन हो गया. कुमारस्वामी राजा का पालन-पोषण इनकी दादी ने किया. स्कूली शिक्षा पूर्ण करने बाद पी. एस. कुमारस्वामी राजा कांग्रेस संगठन से जुड़ गये. मद्रास राज्य के पहले  मुख्यमंत्री पी. एस. कुमारस्वामी राजा थे और इनका कार्यकाल  26 जनवरी, 1950 से 9 अप्रैल, 1952 तक उसके बाद वर्ष 1954 से 1956 तक उड़ीसा के राज्यपाल भी रहे थे.
3. बांग्ला साहित्यकार विष्णु डे:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1909 में बांग्ला साहित्यकार विष्णु डे का जन्म कलकत्ता, आज़ादी पूर्व भारत में हुआ था. विष्णु डे आधुनिकतावाद, उत्तर-आधुनिकतावाद के युग में एक बंगाली कवि, लेखक और शिक्षाविद थे. उन्होंने एक पत्रिका भी प्रकाशित की, जिसमें उन्होंने सामाजिक रूप से जागरूक लेखन को प्रोत्साहित किया. विष्णु डे को वर्ष 1971 में ‘ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार’ से सम्मानित किया गया था. विष्णु डे द्वारा रचित कविता संग्रह ‘स्मृति सत्ता भविष्यत्’ के लिये उन्हें वर्ष 1965 में ‘साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार’ से सम्मानित किया गया था.
4. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी बनारसी दास:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1912 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी बनारसी दास का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश राज्य के बुलंदशहर ज़िले में हुआ था. उनकी प्राथमिक शिक्षा गांव के ही प्राइमरी स्कूल में शुरू हुई थी. छठीं कक्षा में उन्होंने बुलंदशहर के राजकीय विद्यालय में प्रवेश लिया उस वक्त उनकी उम्र मात्र 15 वर्ष थी उसी उम्र में बनारसी दास स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन से भी जुड़ गए थे. वर्ष 1928 में ‘नौजवान भारत सभा’ और ‘भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस’ के सक्रिय कार्यकर्ता बन गए. वर्ष 1930 में जब गांधीजी ने नमक सत्याग्रह किया तो माहौल जज्बे में बदल गया. वर्ष 1930 में तत्कालीन गवर्नर सर मैल्कम हेली ने बुलंदशहर की यात्रा किया जिसका जमकर विरोध आवाम ने किया विरोध का पुलिस ने जमकर दमन किया। खासकर युवाओं पर जमकर लाठियां बरसी उन्ही युवाओं में एक बनारसी दास भी थे.
5. मार्क्सवादी राजनितिज्ञ ज्योति बसु:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1914 में मार्क्सवादी राजनितिज्ञ, पश्चिम बंगाल के मुख्यमंत्री ज्योति बसु का जन्म पूर्वी बंगाल (अब बांग्लादेश में) के एक समृद्ध मध्यवर्गीय परिवार में हुआ था. उनका पुरा नाम ज्योतिंद्र नाथ बसु है. उन्होंने कलकत्ता के एक कैथोलिक स्कूल और सेंट जेविर्यस कॉलेज से पढ़ाई की. वकालत की पढ़ाई बसु ने लंदन में की. ज्योति बसु ने वर्ष 1930 में कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी ऑफ़ इंडिया की सदस्यता ले ली. ज्योति बसु ने भारत में लगातार किसी भी राज्य का सबसे लंबे समय तक मुख्यमंत्री रहने का रिकॉर्ड भी बनाया है. वर्ष 1964 में जब मार्क्सवादी कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी बनी तो वे उसके पोलित ब्यूरो में थे और 2008 में स्वास्थ के कारण इस्तीफा दे दिया था.
6. रपट प्रकाशित:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1918 में भारतीय संविधान में सुधार के लिए मांटेग्यु चेम्सफोर्ड रपट प्रकाशित की गई थी.
7. उपन्यासकार गिरिराज किशोर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1937 में हिन्दी के उपन्यासकार, सशक्त कथाकार, नाटककार और आलोचक गिरिराज किशोर का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के मुजफ़्फ़रनगर में हुआ था. अपनी शिक्षा के अंतर्गत उन्होंने ‘मास्टर ऑफ़ सोशल वर्क’ की डिग्री वर्ष 1960 में ‘समाज विज्ञान संस्थान’, आगरा से प्राप्त की थी. गिरिराज किशोर वर्ष 1960-64 तक उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार में सेवायोजन अधिकारी व प्रोबेशन अधिकारी भी रहे थे. वर्ष 1964-66 तक इलाहाबाद में रहकर स्वतन्त्र लेखन किया.
8. राजनीतिज्ञ गंगा प्रसाद:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1937 में राजनीतिज्ञ गंगा प्रसाद का जन्म खाजपुरा, बेली रोड, जिला- पटना में हुआ था.
9. गिरिजा व्यास:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1946 में गिरिजा व्यास का जन्म नाथद्वारा, राजस्थान में हुआ था. इनके पिता का नाम कृष्ण शर्मा तथा माता का नाम यमुना देवी व्यास था. डॉ. गिरिजा व्यास भारतीय राजनीति की एक ऐसी बुद्धिजीवी राजनीतिज्ञ हैं, जिन्होंने चार बार भारतीय संसद में लोक सभा का प्रतिनिधित्व किया है. वह मात्र 25 वर्ष की आयु में राजस्थान विधानसभा की सदस्य बनीं और कई मंत्रालयों का दायित्व सम्भालने का मौक़ा मिला. पी. वी. नरसिम्हा राव सरकार में गिरिजा व्यास सूचना एवं प्रसारण मंत्रालय और फिर मनमोहन सिंह के नेतृत्व वाली यूपीए-2 सरकार में उन्होंने केन्द्रीय कैबिनेट में शहरी आवास एवं ग़रीबी उन्मूलन मंत्रालय की ज़िम्मेवारी को निभाया. गिरिजा व्यास राष्ट्रीय महिला आयोग की दो कार्यकाल तक राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष पद पर रही हैं.
10. राजनीतिज्ञ वाई. एस. राजशेखर रेड्डी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1949 में वाई. एस. राजशेखर रेड्डी का जन्म हुआ था. रेड्डी आंध्र प्रदेश के 14वें मुख्यमंत्री रहे थे.
11. राजनीतिज्ञ गेगोंग अपांग:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1949 में राजनीतिज्ञ गेगोंग अपांग का जन्म अरुणाचल प्रदेश में हुआ था. गेगांग अपांग लगभग 22 वर्षों तक अरुणाचल प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री रहे हैं.कांग्रेस के नेता रहे गेगांग अपांग ने फ़रवरी 2014 में पार्टी से इस्तीफा दे दिया था और भाजपा में शामिल हो गए थे.
12. भाखड़ा नांगल पनबिजली परियोजना:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1954 में सतलुज नदी पर निर्मित भाखड़ा नांगल पनबिजली परियोजना पर बनी सबसे बड़ी नहर का उद्घाटन प्रधानमंत्री जवाहरलाल नेहरू ने किया था.
13. अभिनेत्री नीतू सिंह:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1958 में अभिनेत्री नीतू सिंह का जन्म दिल्‍ली में हुआ था. नीतू ने मात्र 8 साल की उम्र में 1966 में ही एक बाल कलाकार के रूप में काम करना शुरू कर दिया था. मुख्‍य अभिनेत्री के तौर पर उन्‍होंने वर्ष 1973 में आई फिल्‍म रिक्‍शावाला से अपना डेब्‍यू किया था. वर्ष1980 में बॉलीवुड अभिनेता ऋिषि कपूर से शादी करने के बाद वर्ष 1983 में उन्‍होंने फिल्‍मों को अ‍लविदा कह दिया था. उन्होंने 26 साल बाद फिल्मों में अपनी वापसी की और अपने पति के विपरीत ‘लव आज कल, ‘दो दूनी चार’ और बेशरम जैसी फिल्मों में दिखाई दी.
14. क्रिकेटर सौरव गांगुली:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1972 में क्रिकेटर सौरव गांगुली का जन्म कलकत्ता में हुआ था. इनके पिता का नाम चंडीदास और माता का नाम निरूपा गांगुली है. गांगुली के पिता चंडी दास एक सफल व्यवसाई थे और कोलकाता के सबसे रईस व्यक्तियों में से एक थे. गांगुली के बचपन का नाम महाराजा था. गांगुली ने अपने कैरियर की शुरुआत स्कूल से की और राज्य स्तरीय टीम में खेलते हुए की. गांगुली एक दिवसीय मैच में सर्वाधिक रन बनाने वाले खिलाडियों में 5वें स्थान पर हैं और १०,००० बनाने वाले 5वें खिलाडी हैं.
15. बैडमिंटन खिलाडी चेतन आनंद:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1980 में बैडमिंटन खिलाडी चेतन आनंद का जन्म विजयवाडा, आंध्र प्रदेश, में हुआ था.
16. पर्वतारोही अनीता कुंडू:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1991 में पर्वतारोही अनीता कुंडू का जन्म फरीदपुर (हिसार) में हुआ था.
17. साहित्यकार सुभाष मुखोपाध्याय:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2003 में बांग्ला कवि और साहित्यकार सुभाष मुखोपाध्याय का निधन हुआ था.
18. चन्द्रशेखर सिंह:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2007 में भारत के 11वें प्रधानमंत्री चन्द्रशेखर सिंह का निधन हुआ था.
19. राजनीतिज्ञ एम. एम. जेकब:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2018 में कांग्रेस के राजनीतिज्ञ एम. एम. जेकब का निधन हुआ था.
20. हास्य अभिनेता जगदीप:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2020 में हास्य अभिनेता जगदीप का निधन हुआ था.
21. राजनीतिज्ञ वीरभद्र सिंह:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2021 में हिमाचल प्रदेश के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री वीरभद्र सिंह का निधन हुआ था.

2. Politician P.S. Kumaraswamy Raja:- On this day in the year 1898, P.S. Kumaraswamy Raja was born. His father’s name was Pusapati Sanjeevi Raja. When P.S. Kumaraswamy Raja was only eight days old when his mother died and when he was three years old, his father also died. Kumaraswamy Raja was brought up by his grandmother. After completing his schooling, P.S. Kumaraswamy Raja joined the Congress organization. The first Chief Minister of Madras State, P.S. Kumaraswamy was the king and his tenure was from January 26, 1950 to April 9, 1952, and then from 1954 to 1956, he was also the Governor of Odisha.
3. Bengali litterateur Vishnu Dey: – On this day in the year 1909, Bengali litterateur Vishnu Dey was born in Calcutta, pre-independence India. Vishnu Dey was a Bengali poet, writer, and educationist in the era of modernism, post-modernism. He also published a magazine, in which he encouraged socially conscious writing. Vishnu Dey was awarded the ‘Jnanpith Award’ in the year 1971. He was awarded the ‘Sahitya Akademi Award’ in the year 1965 for the poetry collection ‘Smriti Satta Bhavishyat’ composed by Vishnu Dey.
4. Freedom Fighter Banarasi Das:- On this day in the year 1912, freedom fighter Banarasi Das was born in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh state. His primary education started in the primary school of the village itself. In the sixth grade, he took admitted to the government school of Bulandshahr, at that time he was only 15 years old, and at the same age, Banarasi Das also joined the freedom movement. In the year 1928, he became an active worker of ‘The Naujawan Bharat Sabha’ and ‘The Indian National Congress. In the year 1930, when Gandhiji did the Salt Satyagraha, the atmosphere turned into emotion. In the year 1930, the then governor, Sir Malcolm Haley, visited Bulandshahr, which was strongly opposed by the public, and the protest was suppressed by the police. Especially the youth lashed out fiercely, among those youth there was also a Banarasi Das.

Marxist Politician Jyoti Basu:- On this day in the year 1914, Marxist politician, Chief Minister of West Bengal Jyoti Basu was born in a prosperous middle-class family in East Bengal (now in Bangladesh). His full name is Jyotindra Nath Basu. He studied at a Catholic school and St. Xavier’s College in Calcutta. Basu studied law in London. Jyoti Basu took membership in the Communist Party of India in the year 1930. Jyoti Basu has also made the record of being the Chief Minister of any state continuously for the longest time in India. When the Marxist Communist Party was formed in the year 1964, he was in its Politburo and resigned in 2008 due to health.

His education, he obtained the degree of ‘Master of Social Work’ in the year 1960 from ‘The Institute of Social Sciences’, Agra. Giriraj Kishore was also the Employment Officer and Probation Officer in the Government of Uttar Pradesh from 1960-64. Stayed in Allahabad and wrote independently till the year 1964-66.
8. Politician Ganga Prasad:- On this day in the year 1937, Politician Ganga Prasad was born in Khajpura, Bailey Road, District- Patna.
9. Girija Vyas:- On this day in the year 1946, Girija Vyas was born in Nathdwara, Rajasthan. His father’s name was Krishna Sharma and his mother’s name was Yamuna Devi Vyas. Dr. Girija Vyas is such an intellectual politician of Indian politics, who has represented the Lok Sabha in the Indian Parliament four times. She became a member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly at the age of just 25 and got the opportunity to handle the responsibility of many ministries. Girija Vyas Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in PV Narasimha Rao government and then in the UPA-2 government headed by Manmohan Singh, he held the responsibility of Ministry of Urban Housing and Poverty Alleviation in the Union Cabinet.
