- राजधानी लौटा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 529 में मुगल शासक बाबर ने बंगाल पर विजय प्राप्त कर अपनी राजधानी आगरा लौटा.
- भारत के अन्तिम वाइसराय लॉर्ड माउंटबेटन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1900 में भारत के अन्तिम वाइसराय लॉर्ड माउंटबेटन का जन्म फ़्रॉगमोर हाउस, विंडसर इंग्लैण्ड में हुआ था. उनका वास्तविक नाम ‘लुई फ़्राँसिस एल्बर्ट विक्टर निकोलस’ था। वह भारत के आखिरी वायसरॉय (1947) थे और स्वतंत्र भारतीय संघ के पहले गवर्नर-जनरल (1947-48) थे. उन्होंने देशी राजाओं को अपनी रियासतों को भारत संघ अथवा पाकिस्तान में विलयन करने के लिए प्रेरित करने में महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिका अदा की थी.
- साहित्यकार चन्द्रशेखर पाण्डे:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1903 में साहित्यकार चन्द्रशेखर पाण्डे का जन्म ‘बड़ी पियरी’ बनारस, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ था. इन्होंने ‘काशी हिन्दू विश्वविद्यालय’ एवं प्रयाग से शिक्षा ग्रहण की थी. वर्ष 1929 ई. में चन्द्रशेखर पाण्डे कानपुर के ‘सनातन धर्म कालेज’ में संस्कृत विभागाध्यक्ष रहे. चन्द्रशेखर पाण्डे ने ‘संस्कृत साहित्य के इतिहास की रूपरेखा’ नाम ग्रन्थ की रचना की. इनका ‘आधुनिक हिन्दी कविता’ तथा ‘रसखान और उनका काव्य’ उल्लेखनीय है.
- स्वतंत्रता सेनानी सुचेता कृपलानी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1908 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी एवं राजनीतिज्ञ सुचेता कृपलानी का जन्म हरियाणा राज्य के अम्बाला शहर में हुआ था. उनकी शिक्षा लाहौर और दिल्ली में हुई थी. जबकि सुचेता के पति आचार्य कृपलानी खुद समाजवादी थे.आज़ादी के आंदोलन में भाग लेने के लिए उन्हें जेल की सज़ा हुई. सुचेता कृपलानी उन चंद महिलाओं में शामिल थीं, जिन्होंने बापू के क़रीब रहकर देश की आज़ादी की नींव रखी. वर्ष1963 में उत्तर प्रदेश की मुख्यमंत्री बनने से पहले वह लगातार दो बार लोकसभा के लिए चुनी गईं. बताते चलें कि, सुचेता दिल की कोमल तो थीं, लेकिन प्रशासनिक फैसले लेते समय वह दिल की नहीं, दिमाग की सुनती थीं.
- गदर पार्टी का गठन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1913 में बाबा सोहन सिंह की अध्यक्षता में गदर पार्टी का गठन हुआ था.
- संगीत निर्देशक मदन मोहन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1924 में संगीत निर्देशक मदन मोहन का जन्म बगदाद, इराक में हुआ था. उनके पिता राय बहादुर चुन्नीलाल फ़िल्म व्यवसाय से जुड़े थे और बाम्बे टाकीज और फ़िल्मीस्तान जैसे बड़े फ़िल्म स्टूडियो में साझीदार थे.घर में फ़िल्मी माहौल होने के कारण मदन मोहन भी फ़िल्मों में काम कर बड़ा नाम करना चाहते थे लेकिन अपने पिता के कहने पर उन्होंने सेना में भर्ती होने का फैसला ले लिया और देहरादून में नौकरी शुरू कर दी. मुंबई आने के बाद मदन मोहन की मुलाकात एस. डी. बर्मन, श्याम सुंदर और सी. रामचंद्र जैसे प्रसिद्ध संगीतकारों से हुई और वह उनके सहायक के तौर पर काम करने लगे। बतौर संगीतकार वर्ष 1950 में प्रदर्शित फ़िल्म आँखें के ज़रिये मदन मोहन फ़िल्म इंडस्ट्री में अपनी पहचान बनाने में सफल हुए. पचास के दशक में मदन मोहन के संगीत निर्देशन में राजेन्द्र कृष्ण के रचित रूमानी गीत काफ़ी लोकप्रिय हुये। उनके रचित कुछ रूमानी गीतों में ‘कौन आया मेरे मन के द्वारे पायल की झंकार लिये’.. देख कबीरा रोया (1957), ‘मेरा करार लेजा मुझे बेकरार कर जा’.. (आशियाना) 1952, ‘ए दिल मुझे बता दे’..भाई-भाई 1956 जैसे गीत शामिल हैं. वर्ष 1970 में प्रदर्शित फ़िल्म दस्तक के लिये मदन मोहन सर्वश्रेष्ठ संगीतकार के राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किये गये.
- आठवें प्रधानमंत्री विश्वनाथ प्रताप सिंह:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1931 में आठवें प्रधानमंत्री विश्वनाथ प्रताप सिंह का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के इलाहाबाद ज़िले में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम राजा बहादुर राय गोपाल सिंह था. विश्वनाथ प्रताप सिंह ने इलाहाबाद और पूना विश्वविद्यालय में अध्ययन किया था. विश्वनाथ प्रताप सिंह इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय की स्टूडेंट यूनियन में उपाध्यक्ष भी थे. वर्ष 1957 में उन्होंने ‘भूदान आन्दोलन’ में सक्रिय भूमिका निभाई थी। सिंह ने अपनी ज़मीनें दान में दे दीं.विश्वनाथ प्रताप सिंह को अपने विद्यार्थी जीवन में ही राजनीति से दिलचस्पी हो गई थी. वह समृद्ध परिवार से थे, इस कारण युवाकाल की राजनीति में उन्हें सफलता प्राप्त हुई. उनका सम्बन्ध भारतीय कांग्रेस पार्टी के साथ हो गया. उन्होंने उत्तर प्रदेश में मुख्यमंत्री का कार्यभार भी सम्भाला। उनका मुख्यमंत्री कार्यकाल 9 जून, 1980 से 28 जून, 1982 तक ही रहा. इसके पश्चात्त वह 29 जनवरी, 1983 को केन्द्रीय वाणिज्य मंत्री बने. विश्वनाथ प्रताप सिंह राज्यसभा के भी सदस्य रहे. वर्ष 1989 का लोकसभा चुनाव में विश्वनाथ प्रताप सिंह के राष्ट्रीय मोर्चे को 146 सीटें मिलीं. भाजपा और वामदलों के सहयोग से 1989 को वी. पी. सिंह ने प्रधानमंत्री पद की शपथ ग्रहण की.

His father’s name was Raja Bahadur Rai Gopal Singh. Vishwanath Pratap Singh studied at Allahabad and Poona University. Vishwanath Pratap Singh was also the Vice President of the Student Union of Allahabad University. In the year 1957, he played an active role in the ‘Bhoodan Movement’. Singh donated his lands.
