1. प्लासी की लड़ाई:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1757 में प्लासी का पहला युद्ध ब्रिटिश सेना और सिराज उद-दौला के बीच मुर्शिदाबाद के दक्षिण में 22 मील दूर नदिया जिले में भागीरथी नदी के किनारे ‘प्लासी’ नामक स्थान में हुआ था. रॉबर्ट क्लाइव के नेतृत्व में नवाब सिराज़ुद्दौला को हरा दिया था.
2. मराठा पेशवा बालाजी बाजीराव:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1761 में मराठा पेशवा बालाजी बाजीराव का निधन हुआ था.
3. डंकन डॉक:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1810 में बाम्बे के डंकन डॉक का निर्माण कार्य पूरा हुआ.
4. क्रांतिकारी राजेन्द्रनाथ लाहिड़ी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1901 में अमर शहीद राजेन्द्रनाथ लाहिड़ी का जन्म बंगाल के पाबना ज़िले के भड़गा नामक ग्राम में हुआ था. इनके पिता का नाम क्षिति मोहन शर्मा और माता बसंत कुमारी था. राजेन्द्रनाथ की प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा-दीक्षा वाराणसी से ही हुई. एम. ए. की पढ़ाई के दौरान राजेन्द्रनाथ का संपर्क क्रांतिकारी शचीन्द्रनाथ सान्याल से हुआ. राजेन्द्रनाथ इस संघ की प्रतीय समिति के सदस्य थे साथ ही अन्य सदस्यों में रामप्रसाद बिस्मिल भी शामिल थे ‘काकोरी ट्रेन कांड’ में जिन क्रांतिकारियों ने प्रत्यक्ष भाग लिया, उनमें राजेन्द्रनाथ भी थे. कुछ समयपरांत वे बम बनाने की शिक्षा प्राप्त करने और बंगाल के क्रांतिकारी दलों से संपर्क बढाने के उद्देश्य से कोलकाता गए. वहाँ दक्षिणेश्वर बम फैक्ट्री कांड में पकड़े गए और दस वर्ष की सज़ा हुई. राजेन्द्रनाथ लाहिड़ी अध्ययन और व्यायाम में अपना सारा समय व्यतीत करते थे.फाँसी के फैसले के बाद सभी को अलग कर दिया गया, परन्तु लाहिड़ी ने अपनी दिनचर्या में कोई परिवर्तन नहीं किया। जेलर ने पूछा कि- “प्रार्थना तो ठीक है, परन्तु अन्तिम समय इतनी भारी कसरत क्यो?” राजेन्द्रनाथ लाहिड़ी ने जबाव देते हुए कहा की, व्यायाम मेरा नित्य का नियम है. मृत्यु के भय से मैं नियम क्यों छोड़ दूँ? दूसरा और महत्वपूर्ण कारण है कि हम पुर्नजन्म में विश्वास रखते हैं. व्यायाम इसलिए किया कि दूसरे जन्म में भी बलिष्ठ शरीर मिले, जो ब्रिटिश साम्राज्य के ख़िलाफ़ युद्ध में काम आ सके.
5. अभिनेता रहमान:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1921 में अभिनेता रहमान का जन्म अफ़ग़ानिस्तान के एक पद्च्युत राजघराने में हुआ था. उनका बचपन लाहौर में बीता कुछ समयपरांत उनके पिता सरदार अब्दुल रहमान जबलपुर आकर बस गए. रहमान ने रॉबर्टसन कॉलेज से अपनी शिक्षा पूरी की. रहमान ने तीन साल तक वायु सेना में नौकरी भी की.अभिनय के प्रति झुकाव के कारण रहमान ने वायु सेना की नौकरी छोड़ दी और मुम्बई आ गए.वे वी. शांताराम द्वारा स्थापित फ़िल्म अकादमी में प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त करने लगे.काफ़ी संघर्ष करने के बाद रहमान को फ़िल्म ‘हम एक हैं’ में नायक की भूमिका मिली. नायक के रूप में रहमान का कैरियर बमुश्किल पांच-छह साल रहा, बतौर नायक जब वे असफल हो गए, तो गुरुदत्त ने अपनी फ़िल्म प्यासा से उन्हें सहनायक के रूप में पर्दे पर प्रस्तुत किया. रहमान ने स्वयं को कभी स्टार नहीं माना. वे हमेशा स्कैंडल्स से बचे रहे और फ़िल्मी चकाचौंध से दूर रहे. फ़िल्म-जगत की चमक-दमक से अलग वे किताबें पढ़ने, शतरंज खेलने और बढ़िया भोजन करने में ही अपना वक्त गुजारना पसंद करते थे.
6. सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता चण्डी प्रसाद भट्ट:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1934 में गाँधीवादी विचारक और सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता चण्डी प्रसाद भट्ट का जन्म गोपेश्वर, उत्तराखण्ड में हुआ था. वर्ष 1964 में गोपेश्वर में ‘दशोली ग्राम स्वराज्य संघ’ की स्थापना की जो कालान्तर में चिपको आंदोलन की मातृ-संस्था बनी और बाद में चण्डी प्रसाद भट्ट को इस कार्य के लिए वर्ष 1982 में रेमन मैग्सेसे पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया.
7. मुख्यमंत्री वीरभद्र सिंह:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1934 में हिमाचल प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री वीरभद्र सिंह का जन्म शिमला, हिमाचल प्रदेश में हुआ था. वीरभद्र सिंह भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के सदस्य हैं. वे आठ बार विधायक, पाँच बार प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री और पांचवीं बार लोकसभा में बतौर सांसद रह चुके हैं और पिछले आधे दशक में वे कोई चुनाव नहीं हारे. अपने 47 वर्षों के राजनैतिक सफ़र के दौरान उन्होंने 13 चुनाव लड़े और सभी जीते.
8. फ़ुटबॉल खिलाडी प्रदीप कुमार बनर्जी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1936 में फ़ुटबॉल खिलाडी प्रदीप कुमार बनर्जी का जन्म जलपाईगुडी, पश्चिम बंगाल में हुआ था. प्रदीप ने वर्ष 1962 के एशियाई खेलों के फ़ाइनल में भारत की ओर से प्रथम गोल दागा था. उन्होंने भारत ने इस मैच में स्वर्ण पदक जीता था. वर्ष 1960 के रोम ओलंपिक में पी. के. बनर्जी भारतीय फ़ुटबॉल टीम के कप्तान रहे. वे भारत के प्रथम फ़ुटबॉल खिलाड़ी हैं, जिन्हें वर्ष 1961 में ‘अर्जुन पुरस्कार’ प्रदान किया गया था.
9. शिक्षाशास्त्री गिजुभाई बधेका:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1939 में गुजराती भाषा के लेखक और शिक्षाशास्त्री गिजुभाई बधेका का निधन हुआ था.
10. फिल्म् निर्देशक जब्बा्र पटेल:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1942 में फिल्म् निर्देशक जब्बा्र पटेल का जन्म हुआ था.
11. अभिनेता एवं राजनेता राज बब्बर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1952 में अभिनेता एवं राजनेता राज बब्बर का जन्म आगरा, उत्तर-प्रदेश में हुआ था. राज-बब्बर ने अपनी पढ़ाई आगरा कॉलेज आगरा से पूरी की है. उन्होंने अभिनय की बारीकियां दिल्ली स्थित नेशनल स्कूल ऑफ़ ड्रामा से सीखी हैं. राज बब्बर ने अपने फ़िल्मी करियर की शुरुआत फिल्म ‘किस्सा कुर्सी का’ से की थी. उसके बाद उन्होंने हिंदी सिनेमा में कई फिल्मों में अभिनय किया. राज-बब्बर को हिंदी सिनेमा में पहचान फिल्म ‘निकाह’ से मिली. उन्होंने कई फिल्‍मों में काम करने के बाद राजनीति की ओर रुख कर लिया.
12. ‘भारतीय जनसंघ‘ के संस्थापक:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1953 में शिक्षाविद, चिन्तक और ‘भारतीय जनसंघ’ के संस्थापक श्यामा प्रसाद मुखर्जी का निधन कश्मीर की जेल में हुआ था.
13. प्रथम उच्चायुक्त श्रीप्रकाश:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1971 में क्रांतिकारी और पाकिस्तान में प्रथम उच्चायुक्त श्रीप्रकाश का निधन हुआ था.
14. भूतपूर्व मुख्यमंत्री राम नरेश यादव:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1977 में राम नरेश यादव उत्तर प्रदेश राज्य के मुख्यमंत्री नियुक्त हुए थे.
15. संजय गांधी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1980 में इंदिरा गांधी के छोटे पुत्र संजय गांधी का निधन हुआ था.
16. आयरलैंड तट:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1985 में एयर इंडिया का एक यात्री विमान आयरलैंड तट के करीब हवा में दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गया था. इस हादसे में विमान में सवार सभी 329 यात्री मारे गए थे..
17. यूटयूबर एवं स्टैंरडअप कॉमेडियन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1987 में यूटयूबर एवं स्टैंरडअप कॉमेडियन तन्मय भटट का जन्म हुआ था.
18. अभिनेता सौमित्र चटर्जी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2008 में बंगाली अभिनेता सौमित्र चटर्जी को दादा साहब फाल्के पुरस्कार देने के लिए चयन समिति ने की थी.
19. जेके टायर इण्डिया लिमिटेड:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2008 में टायर बनाने वाली देश की प्रमुख कम्पनी जेके टायर इण्डिया लिमिटेड ने मैक्सिको की टायर कम्पनी टोर्नल व उसकी सहायक कम्पनियों सहित 270 करोड़ डालर का अधिग्रहण किया.
20. ‘रानी की वाव’ और हिमाचल का ‘ग्रेट हिमालयन नेशनल पार्क’:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2014 में गुजरात का ‘रानी की वाव’ और हिमाचल का ‘ग्रेट हिमालयन नेशनल पार्क विश्व धरोहर की सूची शामिल हुआ.

1. Battle of Plassey: – On this day in the year 1757, the first battle of Plassey took place between the British Army and Siraj ud-Daulah at a place called ‘Plassey’ on the banks of Bhagirathi river in Nadia district, 22 miles to the south of Murshidabad. Nawab Siraj-ud-Beulah was defeated under the leadership of Robert Clive.
2. Maratha Peshwa Balaji Bajirao: – On this day in the year 1761, Maratha Peshwa Balaji Bajirao passed away.
3. Duncan Dock: – On this day in the year 1810, the construction work of Duncan Dock of Bombay was completed.
4. Revolutionary Rajendranath Lahiri:- On this day in the year 1901, Amar Shaheed Rajendranath Lahiri was born in a village named Bhadga in the Pabna district of Bengal. His father’s name was Kshiti Mohan Sharma and his mother was Basant Kumari. Rajendranath’s initial education and initiation took place in Varanasi only. M.A. Rajendranath came in contact with revolutionary Shachindranath Sanyal during his studies. Rajendranath was a member of the Pratiyya Samiti of this Sangh, along with other members, Ramprasad Bismil was also included. Among the revolutionaries who took a direct part in the ‘Kakori train incident’, Rajendranath was also there. After some time, he went to Kolkata with the aim of getting bomb-making education and increasing contact with the revolutionary parties of Bengal. There Dakshineswar was caught in the bomb factory incident and was sentenced to ten years. Rajendranath Lahiri used to spend all his time in study and exercise. Everyone was separated after the execution, but Lahiri did not change his daily routine. The jailer asked – “Prayer is fine, but why such heavy exercise at the last moment?” Rajendranath Lahiri replied that exercise is his daily rule. Why should I give up the rules for fear of death? Another and more important reason is that we believe in reincarnation. The exercise was done to get a strong body in the second birth as well, which could be useful in the war against the British Empire.
5. Actor Rahman: – On this day in the year 1921, actor Rahman was born in a remote royal family in Afghanistan. His childhood was spent in Lahore, and after some time his father Sardar Abdul Rehman settled in Jabalpur. Rahman completed his education at Robertson College. Rahman also served in the Air Force for three years. Due to his inclination towards acting, Rahman left the Air Force job and came to Mumbai. He started training at the Film Academy established by V. Shantaram. After much struggle, Rahman got the role of hero in the film ‘Hum Ek Hain’. Rahman’s career as a hero lasted barely five-six years, when he failed as a hero, Guru Dutt presented him on screen as a co-hero from his film Pyaasa. Rahman never considered himself a star. He always avoided scandals and stayed away from film glare. Apart from the glamor of the film world, he liked to spend his time reading books, playing chess, and eating good food.
6. Social worker Chandi Prasad Bhatt:- On this day in the year 1934, Gandhian thinker and social worker Chandi Prasad Bhatt was born in Gopeshwar, Uttarakhand. In the year 1964, ‘Dasholi Gram Swarajya Sangh’ was established in Gopeshwar, which later became the mother organization of the Chipko movement and later Chandi Prasad Bhatt was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award in the year 1982 for this work.
7. Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh:- On this day in the year 1934, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh was born in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Virbhadra Singh is a member of the Indian National Congress. He has been MLA eight times, Chief Minister of the state five times, and as a Member of Parliament for the fifth time in the Lok Sabha and he has not lost any election in the last half a decade. During his political journey of 47 years, he contested 13 elections and won all.
8. Football player Pradeep Kumar Banerjee:- On this day in the year 1936, football player Pradeep Kumar Banerjee was born in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. Pradeep scored the first goal for India in the final of the 1962 Asian Games. India won the gold medal in this match. In the 1960 Rome Olympics, P.K. Banerjee was the captain of the Indian football team. He is the first football player of India, who was awarded the ‘Arjuna Award’ in year 1961.
9. Educationist Gijubhai Badheka:- On this day in the year 1939, Gujarati language writer and educationist Gijubhai Badheka passed away.
