1. मुमताज़ महल:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1631में मुमताज़ महल का निधन हुआ था. मुमताज़ महल आसफ़ ख़ाँ की पुत्री, जिसका निकाह मुग़ल सम्राट ‘ख़ुर्रम’ (शाहजहाँ) से हुआ था. ज्ञात है कि, मुमताज की मौत बेहद दर्दनाक हुई थी. मुमताज ने 14वें बच्‍चे की प्रसव पीड़ा 30 घंटे तक जूझने के बाद तड़पते हुए प्राण त्‍यागे थे.
2. राजमाता जीजाबाई:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1674 में राजमाता जीजाबाई का निधन हुआ था. जीजाबाई पहली ऐसी महिला थी जिन्होंने दक्षिण भारत में मराठा यानि हिंदुत्व की स्थापना में योगदान दिया था.
3. आक्रमण किया:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1756 में नवाब सिराजउद्दौला ने 50 हजार सैनिकों के साथ कलकत्ता (अब कोलकाता) पर आक्रमण किया था.
4. भूतपूर्व मुख्यमंत्री कैलाश नाथ काटजू:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1887 में मध्य प्रदेश राज्य के भूतपूर्व मुख्यमंत्री कैलाश नाथ काटजू का जन्म मध्य प्रदेश के मालवा में एक छोटी-सी रियासत ‘जओरा’ में एक कश्मीरी ब्राह्मण परिवार में हुआ था. इनके पिता का नाम पंडित त्रिभुवननाथ काटजू था. कैलाश की प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा उनके ननिहाल लाहौर में हुई थी. बी. ए. करने के बाद कैलाश कानून की पढाई करने इलाहबाद चले आए. क़ानूनविद सर तेज बहादुर सप्रू की देख-रेख में इन्होंने क़ानून की शिक्षा प्राप्त की और कुछ समय तक कानपुर में वकालत करते रहे.इसके बाद ये इलाहाबाद हाईकोर्ट में आ गए और यहाँ वकालत करते हुए वर्ष 1919 में क़ानून में एल.एल.डी. की डिग्री लेकर डॉ. काटजू बन गए. 31 जनवरी, 1957 से मार्च, वर्ष 1962 तक डॉ. काटजू मध्य प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री रहे थे.. मध्य प्रदेश की उन्नति के लिए उन्होंने कई उल्लेखनीय कार्य किये और प्रगति के पथ पर अग्रसर किया.
5. सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता गोपाल गणेश आगरकर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1895 में सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता गोपाल गणेश आगरकर का निधन हुआ था.
6. फ़िल्म निर्माता ज्योति प्रसाद अग्रवाल:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1903 में असम के प्रसिद्ध साहित्यकार, स्वतंत्रता सेनानी तथा फ़िल्म निर्माता ज्योति प्रसाद अग्रवाल का जन्म असम के डिब्रूगढ़ ज़िले में स्थित ‘तामुलबारी’ नामक चाय के बागान में हुआ था.इनके पिता का नाम परमानंद अग्रवाल तथा माता किरनमोई अग्रवाल थीं. ज्योति ने अपनी शिक्षा असम तथा कोलकाता में पाई थी. ज्योति ने वर्ष 1921 में मैट्रिक की परीक्षा उत्तीर्ण की थी. यद्यपि इस दौरान असहयोग आन्दोलन प्रारम्भ हो जाने पर उन्होंने पढ़ाई छोड़ दी थी, लेकिन आन्दोलन रुक जाने पर कोलकाता के ‘नेशनल कॉलेज’ में प्रवेश ले लिया था.इंग्लैण्ड में शिक्षा पूरी करने के बाद ज्योति प्रसाद अग्रवाल कुछ समय के लिए जर्मनी चले गए थे, जहाँ उनका संपर्क हिमांशु राय से हुआ. राय से उन्हें सिनेमा निर्माण की कला सीखने का अवसर मिला. वर्ष 1930 में भारत आते ही ज्योति प्रसाद फिर असहयोग आंदोलन में सम्मिलित हो गए और उन्हें 15 महीने की कैद की सज़ा मिली.जर्मनी मे सीखी फ़िल्म-निर्माण कला का उपयोग करके ज्योति प्रसाद अग्रवाल ने वर्ष 1935 में असमिया साहित्यकार लक्ष्मीकांत बेजबरूआ के ऐतिहासिक नाटक ‘ज्योमति कुंवारी’ को आधार मानकर प्रथम असमिया फ़िल्म बनाई. ज्योति प्रसाद अग्रवाल की संपूर्ण रचनाएं असम की सरकारी प्रकाशन संस्था ने चार खंडों में प्रकाशित की थीं. उनमें 10 नाटक और लगभग उतनी ही कहानियां, एक उपन्यास, 20 से ऊपर निबंध, तथा 359 गीतों का संकलन है.
7. निवास बनाया:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1917 में महात्मा गांधी ने अपना निवास साबरमती आश्रम के हृदय कुंज में बनाया. वर्ष 1919 -1930 तक का समय गांधी जी ने यहीं बिताया था और उन्होंने यहीं से ऐतिहासिक दांडी यात्रा की शुरुआत की थी.
8. साहित्यकार गोपबंधु दास:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1928 में स्वतंत्रतता संग्राम सेनानी एवं साहित्यकार गोपबंधु दास का निधन हुआ था.
9. अभिनेता मोतीलाल:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1965 में अभिनेता मोतीलाल का निधन हुआ था.
10. टेनिस खिलाड़ी लिएंडर पेस:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1973 में टेनिस खिलाड़ी लिएंडर पेस का जन्म गोवा में हुआ था. लिएंडर का पालन-पोषण कलकत्ता में हुआ था। उनकी माँ जेनिफर पेस वर्ष 1980 में भारतीय बास्केट बॉल टीम की कैप्टेन थी और उनके पिता डॉ. वैस अगापितो पेस हॉकी के मिड-फील्डर थे वर्ष 1972 के म्यूनिख ओलंपिक में भारतीय टीम के सदस्य थे, जिसने कांस्य पदक भी जीता था. लिएंडर की स्कूली शिक्षा मद्रास क्रिश्चियन कॉलेज, हायर सेकेंड्री स्कूल से हुई.लिएंडर को टेनिस के अतिरिक्त गोल्फ़ खेलने का भी शौक है. लिएंडर ने 7 वर्ष की आयु में टेनिस सीखना आरम्भ कर दिया था और खेल की बेसिक जानकारी साउथ क्लब, कलकत्ता से आरम्भ की थी.पेस ने अन्तरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर ख्याति 1990 में अर्जित की जब उन्होंने विंबलडन जूनियर का खिताब जीता और जूनियर विश्व रैंकिंग में नम्बर एक खिलाड़ी बन गए.डबल्स में लिएंडर ने महेश भूपति के साथ खेल कर इस जोड़ी को भी एक नम्बर का रैंक हासिल करवाया.
11. अभिनेत्री अमृता राव:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1973 में अभिनेत्री अमृता राव का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ था. अमृता ने मनोविज्ञान में स्नातक किया है. उन्हे अंग्रेजी,हिन्दी,मराठी और कोंकणी भाषा का ज्ञान है. अमृता ने अपना कैरियर मॉडलिंग से शुरू किया. उनका मॉडलिंग कि दुनिया में पदार्पण अचानक उस समय हुआ जब 60 अन्य मॉडलों में से सिर्फ़ उन्हे फ़ैरेवर फ़ेस क्रीम के प्रचार के लिये चुना गया. उन्होंने अपने फ़िल्मी करियर की शुरुआत वर्ष 2002 में फिल्म अब के बरस से की थी. इस फिल्म का निर्देशन राज़ कंवर ने किया था. लेकिन अमृता को हिंदी सिनेमा में पहचान फ़िल्म इश्क विश्क से मिली. इस फिल्म में उनके अपोजिट शाहिद कपूर नजर आये थे.
12. कारगिल जेहाद फ़ंड की स्थापना:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1999 में कारगिल में चल रहे युद्ध के मद्देनजर आई.एस.आई. द्वारा कारगिल जेहाद फ़ंड की स्थापना की.
13. ‘तेज़स’ का सफलतापूर्वक परीक्षण:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2008 में देश में विकसित हल्के लड़ाकू विमान ‘तेज़स’ का बंगलौर में सफलतापूर्वक परीक्षण किया गया.
14. इंडोनेशिया ओपन चैंपियन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2012 में सायना नेहवाल ने तीसरी बार इंडोनेशिया ओपन चैंपियन बनी.

1. Mumtaz Mahal: – On this day in the year 1631, Mumtaz Mahal died. The daughter of Mumtaz Mahal Asaf Khan, who was married to the Mughal emperor Khurram (Shah Jahan). Filmmaker Jyoti Prasad Agarwal:- On this day in the year 1903, Assam’s famous litterateur, freedom fighter, and filmmaker Jyoti Prasad Agarwal was born in a tea garden named ‘Tamulbari’ located in Dibrugarh district of Assam. His father His name was Parmanand Agarwal and his mother was Kiranmoi Agarwal. Jyoti got her education in Assam and Kolkata. Jyoti passed the matriculation examination in the year 1921. Although he left his studies when the non-cooperation movement started during this period, when the movement stopped, he took admitted to the ‘National College’ of Kolkata. After completing his education in England, Jyoti Prasad Agarwal went to Germany for some time. , where he came in contact with Himanshu Rai. He got the opportunity to learn the art of cinema making from Rai. Coming to India in the year 1930, Jyoti Prasad again joined the non-cooperation movement and was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment. Using the film-making art learned in Germany, Jyoti Prasad Agarwal in the year 1935 directed Assamese litterateur Laxmikant Bezbarua’s historical play ‘ The First Assamese Film was made based on Jyomati Kunwari.
