1. भयंकर यातना देकर मार डाला:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1606 में जहाँगीर के शासनकाल में गुरु अर्जुन देव को लाहौर (पाकिस्तान) में भयंकर यातना देकर मार डाला गया.
2. मोरार की लड़ाई:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1858 में प्रथम भारतीय स्वतन्त्रता संग्राम के दौरान मोरार की लड़ाई लड़ी गई.
3. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी सी. एम. पुनाचा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1910 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी तथा उड़ीसा व मध्य प्रदेश के भूतपूर्व राज्यपाल सी. एम. पुनाचा का जन्म कर्नाटक के दक्षिण कुर्ग में ‘उगूर’ नामक ग्राम में हुआ था. पुनाचा ने कुर्ग में ‘मरकरा विराजपेट’ तथा ‘सेंट अलायसिस कॉलेज’, मंगलौर से शिक्षा प्राप्त की थी.अपने विद्यार्थी जीवन में ही सी. एम. पुनाचा ‘भारतीय स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन’ में रुचि होने के कारण अध्ययन छोड़कर वर्ष 1930 में स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन में शामिल हो गये. वर्ष 1932 – 1933 में उन्हें दो बार कारावास की सज़ा मिली. इसके बाद वर्ष 1940-1941 में व्यक्तिगत रूप से सत्याग्रह आंदोलन में भाग लेने के कारण उन्हें फिर से कारावास की सज़ा काटनी पड़ी. सी. एम. पुनाचा वर्ष 1942-1944 में ‘भारत छोड़ो आन्दोलन में नजरबंद रहे. देश की आज़ादी के बाद सी. एम. पुनाचा वर्ष 1952-1956 में कुर्ग के मुख्यमंत्री बने. नया मैसूर राज्य निर्मित होने पर सी. एम. पुनाचा वर्ष 1956 में उद्योग तथा वाणिज्य मंत्री रहे तथा बाद में गृह कार्य तथा उद्योग मंत्री रहे. वर्ष 1959-1963 में भारतीय व्यापार निगम के सभापति भी रहे. उन्होंने 17 अगस्त, 1978 से 29 अप्रैल, 1980 तक मध्य प्रदेश के राज्यपाल के रूप में अपनी सेवाएँ दी थीं.
4. राजनीतिज्ञ महमूद अली ख़ाँ:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1920 में मध्य प्रदेश के भूतपूर्व राज्यपाल महमूद अली ख़ाँ का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के एक छोटे से गांव ‘जोगीपुरा’, मेरठ में हुआ था. महमूद ने अपनी छठी कक्षा तक की शिक्षा पूर्ण करने के बाद इंटरमीडिएट की परीक्षा मेरठ से उत्तीर्ण की. वर्ष 1943 में वे बी.ए. की डिग्री प्राप्त कर चुके थे. महमूद अली ख़ाँ ने ‘आगरा विश्वविद्यालय’ से एल.एल.बी. की डिग्री हासिल की थी. महमूद ने वर्ष 1943 से कांग्रेस सदस्य के रूप में राजनीतिक गतिविधियों में सक्रिय भागीदारी प्रारम्भ कर दी थी. महमूद वर्ष 1968 में ‘उत्तर प्रदेश लोक सेवा आयोग’ के 6 वर्ष के लिए सदस्य नियुक्त किये गये थे. वर्ष 1980 के बाद उन्होंने स्वयं को पूरी तरह से सक्रिय राजनीति से अलग रखा और सांप्रदायिक सद्भाव के कार्यों तथा सामाजिक एवं सांस्कृतिक गतिविधियों में गहरी दिलचस्पी लेते रहे. महमूद अली ख़ाँ 6 फ़रवरी, 1990 में मध्य प्रदेश के राज्यपाल नियुक्त हुए थे.
5. संगीतकार हेमन्त कुमार:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1920 में हिन्दी फ़िल्मों के पार्श्वगायक और संगीतकार हेमन्त कुमार का जन्म वाराणसी (उत्तर प्रदेश) में हुआ था. उन्होंने अपनी प्रारंभिक शिक्षा कोलकाता के ‘मित्रा इंस्टीट्यूट’ से पूरी की थी.संगीत की प्रारंभिक शिक्षा हेमन्त कुमार ने एक बंगला संगीतकार शैलेश दत्त गुप्ता से ली थी. इसके अतिरिक्त उन्होंने उस्ताद फ़ैयाज ख़ान से शास्त्रीय संगीत की शिक्षा भी ली. हेमन्त कुमार ने कई बंगला फ़िल्मों के लिए भी संगीत दिया, जिनमें हेमेन गुप्ता निर्देशित कई फ़िल्में शामिल हैं. कुछ समय के बाद हेमेन गुप्ता मुंबई आ गए और उन्होंने हेमन्त कुमार को भी मुंबई आने का निमंत्रण दिया.वर्ष 1951 में ‘फ़िल्मिस्तान स्टूडियो’ के बैनर तले बनने वाली अपनी पहली हिन्दी फ़िल्म ‘आनंदमठ’ के लिए हेमेन गुप्ता ने हेमन्त कुमार से संगीत देने की पेशकश की.वर्ष 1954 में उनके संगीत से सजी फ़िल्म ‘नागिन’ ने अपार सफलता प्राप्त की. फ़िल्म ‘नागिन’ का एक गीत ‘मन डोले मेरा तन डोले’ आज भी श्रोताओं के बीच काफ़ी लोकप्रिय है.
6. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी चित्तरंजन दास:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1925 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी चित्तरंजन दास का निधन हुआ था.
7. डॉ. ब्रह्मदेव शर्मा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1931 में डॉ. ब्रह्मदेव शर्मा का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के मुरादाबाद में हुआ था. वर्ष 1956 में आईएएस बने और उन्हें मध्य प्रदेश काडर मिला था.गणित से पीएचडी ब्रह्मदेव शर्मा वर्ष 1968 से लेकर 1970 तक बस्तर में पदस्थापित रहे और यहीं आदिवासी समाज से उनका इतना गहरा नाता जुड़ा. ब्रह्मदेव शर्मा जी अपने प्रशासनिक कॅरियर के शुरुआती दिनों से ही आदिवासियों एवं वंचितों के पक्ष में खड़े रहते थे. वह उनके संवैधानिक अधिकारों की लड़ाई लड़ते रहे, जिससे वे कई तरह से वंचित रहे थे. वर्ष 1968 में बस्तर कलेक्टर के रूप में कार्य करते हुए उन्होंने बड़ी ख्याति पाई.
8. प्रफुल्ल चंद्र राय:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1944 में रसायन विज्ञान के जनक प्रफुल्ल चंद्र राय का निधन हुआ था. आचार्य राय केवल आधुनिक रसायन शास्त्र के प्रथम भारतीय प्रवक्ता (प्रोफेसर) ही नहीं थे बल्कि उन्होंने ही इस देश में रसायन उद्योग की नींव भी डाली थी.
9. अभिनेता मिथुन चक्रवर्ती:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1950 में हिन्दी फ़िल्मों के अभिनेता मिथुन चक्रवर्ती का जन्म जन्म कलकत्ता में हुआ था. उनके बचपन का नाम गौरांग चक्रवर्ती था. उन्होंने कलकत्ता के ही विख्यात स्कॉटिश चर्च कॉलेज से उन्होंने रसायन विज्ञान में BSc स्नातक की डिग्री हासिल की. उसके बाद वे भारतीय फिल्म और टेलीविजन संस्थान, पुणे से जुड़े और वहीं से स्नातक भी किया. बताते चलें कि,  मिथुन फिल्म उद्योग में प्रवेश करने से पहले एक कट्टर नक्सली थे.मिथुन ने भारतीय अभिनेत्री योगिता बाली से शादी की और वे चार बच्चे, तीन बेटे और एक बेटी के पिता हैं.मिथुन ने वर्ष 1976 में मृणाल सेन द्वारा निर्देशित फिल्म मृगया से अपने फ़िल्मी केरियर की शुरुआत की. मिथुन को बड़ी सफलता म्युजिकल फिल्म डिस्को डांसर से वर्ष 1982 में मिली, यह फिल्म अपने संगीत की वजह से एक बड़ी हिट हुई और आज भी यह पसंद की जाती है. वर्ष 2008 में राहुल बोस और समीरा रेड्डी के साथ दासगुप्ता की फिल्म कालपुरुष में उन्होंने काम किया, इस फिल्म को समीक्षकों की प्रसंशा मिली.
10. साहित्यकार सुरेश कांत:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1956 में साहित्यकार सुरेश कांत का जन्म गाँव करौदा-हाथी, मुज़फ़्फ़रनगर ज़िला, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ था. सुरेश कांत ने दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय, दिल्ली से प्रथम श्रेणी में बी.ए. ऑनर्स (हिंदी) और एम.ए. (हिंदी) किया। इसके बाद राजस्थान विश्वविद्यालय, जयपुर से पत्रकारिता में स्नातकोत्तर डिप्लोमा किया और “हिंदी गद्य-लेखन में व्यंग्य और विचार” विषय पर पीएच.डी. की. इसके बाद ‘प्राचीन भारत में बैंकिंग-शब्दावली का स्वरूप’ विषय पर डी.लिट. की डिग्री ली.
11. गुरु घासीदास विश्वविद्यालय:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1983 में गुरु घासीदास विश्वविद्यालय की स्थापना तत्‍कालीन मध्‍यप्रदेश के बिलासपुर में हुई थी.मप्र के विभाजन के पश्‍चात बिलासपुर छत्तीसगढ़ में शामिल हो गया.जनवरी 2009 में केंद्र सरकार द्वारा संसद में पेश में केंद्रीय विश्‍वविद्यालय अधिनियम 2009 के माध्‍यम से इसे केंद्रीय विश्‍वविद्यालय का दर्जा दिया गया.
12. सुनीता विलियम्स:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2007 में अंतरिक्ष में लगातार सबसे लम्बे समय तक रहने वाली महिला बनीं.

15. फ़िराक़ गोरखपुरी पुरस्कार:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2008 में मशहूर शायर वसीम बरेलवी को प्रथम फ़िराक़ गोरखपुरी पुरस्कार प्रदान किया गया.
16. अधिग्रहण किया:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2008 में विश्व में इस्पात बनाने की सबसे बड़ी कम्पनी आर्सेलर मित्तल ने अमेरिकी कम्पनी बंभू स्टील का अधिग्रहण किया.

3. Freedom fighter C.M. Punacha:- On this day in the year 1910, freedom fighter and former Governor of Orissa and Madhya Pradesh C.M. Punacha was born in a village named ‘Ugur’ in South Coorg, Karnataka. Punacha was educated at ‘Markara Virajpet’ in Coorg and ‘St. Aloysius College’, Mangalore. In his student life itself, CM Punacha left his studies and joined the freedom movement in the year 1930 due to his interest in the ‘Indian Freedom Movement’. joined. In the year 1932 – 1933, he was sentenced to imprisonment twice. After this, in the years 1940-1941, he had to undergo imprisonment again for personally participating in the Satyagraha movement. C. 4. Politician Mahmood Ali Khan:- On this day in the year 1920, former Governor of Madhya Pradesh Mahmood Ali Khan was born in the small village ‘Of Jogipura’, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Mahmood passed his intermediate examination from Meerut after completing his sixth-grade education. In the year 1943, he completed his B.A. had obtained a degree. Mahmood Ali Khan did their LLB from ‘Agra University’. the degree was obtained. Mahmood started active participation in political activities from the year 1943 as a Congress member. Mahmood was appointed as a member of ‘The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission’ in the year 1968 for 6 years. 5. Composer Hemant Kumar:- On this day in the year 1920, Hindi film playback singer and composer Hemant Kumar was born in Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh). He completed his early education at Kolkata’s ‘Mitra Institute’. Hemant Kumar took his early music education from Shailesh Dutt Gupta, a Bengali musician. Apart from this, he also took classical music lessons from Ustad Faiyaz Khan. Hemant Kumar also composed music for many Bengali films, including many films directed by Heman Gupta.
