- गुरु हरगोविंद सिंह:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1595 में सिक्खों के छठे गुरु ‘गुरु हरगोविंद सिंह का जन्म में बडाली (भारत) में हुआ था. उनके माता का नाम गंगा व पिता का नाम गुरु अर्जुन सिंह था. गुरु हरगोबिंद सिंह ने एक मज़बूत सिक्ख सेना संगठित की और अपने पिता गुरु अर्जुन के (मुग़ल शासकों के हाथों 1606 में पहले सिक्ख शहीद) निर्देशानुसार सिक्ख पंथ को योद्धा-चरित्र प्रदान किया था. गुरु हरगोबिंद सिंह 25 मई, 1606 ई. को सिक्खों के छठे गुरु बने थे और वे इस पद पर 28 फ़रवरी, 1644 ई. तक रहे. गुरु हरगोविंद से पहले सिक्ख पंथ निष्क्रिय था. प्रतीक रूप में अस्त्र-शस्त्र धारण कर, हरगोविंद गुरु के तख़्त पर बैठे. उन्होंने अपना ज़्यादातर समय युद्ध प्रशिक्षण एव युद्ध कला में लगाया तथा बाद में वह कुशल तलवारबाज़ और कुश्ती व घुड़ सवारी में माहिर हो गए. वर्ष 1609 में उन्होंने अमृतसर में अकाल तख्त (ईश्वर का सिंहासन ) का निर्माण किया, इसमें संयुक्त रूप से एक मंदिर और सभागार हैं, जहाँ सिख-राष्ट्रीयता से संबंधित आध्यात्मिक और सांसारिक मामलों को निपटाया जा सकता था.
- वैज्ञानिक सतीश चंद्र दासगुप्ता:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1880 में वैज्ञानिक सतीश चंद्र दासगुप्ता का जन्म बंगाल स्थित कूरिग्राम गांव के रंगपुर में हुआ था. वर्तमान समय में यह गांव अभी बांग्लादेश की सीमा में आता है.सतीश चंद्र दासगुप्ता ने अपनी स्नातक शिक्षा अपने गांव से पूर्ण करने के बाद, रसायन विज्ञान में स्नातकोत्तर कोलकाता के प्रेसीडेन्सी कॉलेज से वर्ष 1906 में पूरा किया. उन्होंने यह डिग्री जाने-माने वैज्ञानिक आचार्य प्रफुल्ल चंद्र राय के मार्गदर्शन में पूर्ण कर दासगुप्ता आचार्य प्रफुल्ल चंद्र राय की लेबोरेट्री में ही काम करने लगे. ज्ञात है कि,बीसवीं शताब्दी के पूर्व में महंगा एवं बहुत सारा माल विदेश से आयात किया जाता था लेकिन, सतीश चंद्र दासगुप्ता ने स्ट्राइसनाईन अल्कलॉइड्स का आविष्कार कर चाय के खराब पत्तों से कैफीन निकालना, कई तरह की प्राकृतिक स्याही का आविष्कार, तेल के साथ -साथ कई रासायनिक औज़ारों का भी आविष्कार किया. दासगुप्ता ने 86 वर्ष की उम्र में, गोगरा गांव में कृषि रिसर्च फॉर्म की स्थापना भी की.
- संगीतकार हीराबाई बारोडकर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1905 में शास्त्रीय संगीतकार हीराबाई बारोडकर का जन्म मिराज, बॉम्बे प्रेसीडेंसी, ब्रिटिश भारत में हुआ था. हीराबाई किराना घराने के उस्ताद अब्दुल करीम खान और ताराबाई माने की पुत्री थीं. उनका मूल नाम चम्पाकली था.
- बिहार के मुख्यमंत्री केदार पांडे:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1920 में भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के राजनीतिज्ञ तथा बिहार के मुख्यमंत्री केदार पांडे का जन्म आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1920 में भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के राजनीतिज्ञ तथा बिहार के मुख्यमंत्री केदार पांडे का जन्म तौलाहां गाँव, पश्चिम चंपारण जिला में हुआ था. पांडे की शिक्षा बनारस हिंदू विश्वविद्यालय, वाराणसी में हुई और यहाँ उन्होंने एम एसी तथा एल एल बी की पढ़ाई की. पांडे वर्ष 1972 से 2 जुलाई 1973 तक बिहार के मुख्यमंत्री रहे साथ ही भारत सरकार में 12 नवंबर 1980 से 14 जनवरी 1982 तक केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल में रेल मंत्री रहे.
- निर्देशक के आसिफ:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1922 में फिल्म निर्माता और निर्देशक के आसिफ का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के इटावा जिले में हुआ था.
- योजना की प्रस्ताव स्वीकृति:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1947 में कांग्रेस कार्य समिति ने भारत विभाजन के लिए माउंटबेटन योजना की प्रस्ताव स्वीकृति को अखिल भारतीय कांग्रेस समिति के समक्ष रखा.
- अभिनेत्री किरण खेर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1955 में अभिनेत्री व राजनेत्री किरण खेर का जन्म पंजाब में हुआ था. किरण की आरम्भिक शिक्षा चंडीगढ़ से हुई, जबकि चंडीगढ़ के ही इंडियन थिएटर ऑफ पंजाब यूनिवर्सिटी से ग्रैजुएशन किया. वर्ष 1985 में किरण की दूसरा विवाह फिल्म अभिनेता अनुपम खेर से हुई. किरण खेर ने अपने कैरियर की शुरुआत वर्ष 1983 में पंजाबी फिल्म ‘आसरा प्यार दा’ से किया था. उन्होंने वर्ष 1996 में अमरीश पुरी के साथ ‘सरदारी बेगम’ में काम किया, जो काफी चर्चित भी रही. किरण ने अपनी एक्टिंग की असली छाप वर्ष 2002 में संजय लीला भंसाली की फिल्म ‘देवदास’ से छोड़ी.
- लेनिन शांति पुरस्कार:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1957 में डॉ सी.वी. रमन को क्रेमलिन (रूस) में लेनिन शांति पुरस्कार प्रदान किया गया.
- कलाकार शेखर सुमन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1960 में फ़िल्म अभिनेता एवं दूरदर्शन कलाकार शेखर सुमन का जन्म हुआ था.
- भौतिक वैज्ञानिक कार्यमाणिवकम श्रीनिवास कृष्णन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1961 में भौतिक वैज्ञानिक कार्यमाणिवकम श्रीनिवास कृष्णन का निधन हुआ था.

- Guru Hargovind Singh:- On this day in the year 1595, Guru Hargovind Singh, the sixth Guru of the Sikhs, was born in Badali (India). His mother’s name was Ganga and his father’s name was Guru Arjun Singh. Guru Hargobind Singh organized a strong Sikh army and imparted warrior character to the Sikh panth as per the instructions of his father Guru Arjun (the first Sikh martyr in 1606 at the hands of Mughal rulers). Guru Hargobind Singh became the sixth Guru of the Sikhs on May 25, 1606 AD, and remained on this post till February 28, 1644 AD. Sikhism was inactive before Guru Hargovind. Wearing weapons as a symbol, Hargovind sat on the Guru’s throne. He spent most of his time in war training and martial arts and later he became a skilled swordsman and expert in wrestling and horse riding. In the year 1609, he built the Akal Takht (Throne of God) in Amritsar, which combined a temple and auditorium, where spiritual and worldly matters relating to the Sikh nationality could be settled.
- Scientist Satish Chandra Dasgupta:- On this day in the year 1880, scientist Satish Chandra Dasgupta was born in Rangpur, Kurigram village, Bengal. At present, this village still comes under the border of Bangladesh. After completing his graduation from his village, Satish Chandra Dasgupta completed his post-graduation in Chemistry from Presidency College, Kolkata in the year 1906. After completing this degree under the guidance of renowned scientist Acharya Prafulla Chandra Rai, Dasgupta started working in the laboratory of Acharya Prafulla Chandra Rai. It is known that before the 20th century, expensive and many goods were imported from abroad, but Satish Chandra Dasgupta invented strychnine alkaloids, extracted caffeine from spoiled tea leaves, and invented many types of natural ink, along with oil Also invented many chemical tools. Dasgupta, at the age of 86, also established an agricultural research farm in Gogra village.
- Composer Hirabai Barodkar:- On this day in the year 1905, classical musician Hirabai Barodkar was born in Miraj, Bombay Presidency, British India. Hirabai was the daughter of Ustad Abdul Karim Khan of Kirana Gharana and Tarabai Mane. His original name was Champakali.
