1. भूकंप:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1897 में असम में भूकंप से करीब 1500 लोगों की मौत हुई. भूकंप का अनुमानित परिणाम करीब 8.2-8.3.० का था.
2. सी. के. नागराज राव:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1915 में कन्नड़ लेखक, नाटककार, मंच कलाकार, निर्देशक, पत्रकार और सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता सी. के. नागराज राव का जन्म चित्रदुर्ग जिले के चल्लकेरे में सीएस कृष्णमूर्ति राव के घर हुआ था.
3. मराठी अभिनेत्री जयश्री तलपड़े:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1932 में मराठी अभिनेत्री जयश्री तलपड़े का जन्म हुआ था. तलपड़े ने अपने करियर की शुरुआत 5 साल की उम्र में 1958 में गूंज उठी शहनाई से की थी.
4. अभिनेत्री पद्मिनि:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1932 में भरत नाट्यम नर्तकी और अभिनेत्री पद्मिनि का जन्म तिरूवन्तपुरम के पूजाप्परा में थंकअप्पन पिल्लई और सरस्वती अम्मा की दूसरी बेटी थी पद्मिनी जो भरतनाट्यम डांसर भी थीं. बड़ी बहन ललिता व छोटी बहन रागिनी के साथ पद्मिनी ‘त्रावणकोर सिस्टर्स’ के नाम से मशहूर हुई. पद्मिनी ने वर्ष 1949 में फिल्मी जगत में कदम रखा.उस दौर में पद्मिनी ने हिंदी के अलावा तमिल, तेलुगु, मलायलम और रशियन भाषा की फिल्मों में भी काम किया था. बताते चलें कि,पद्मिनी की तुलना बॉलीवुड और साउथ की फिल्मों में उस जमाने की टॉप एक्ट्रेस वैजयंती माला से होती थी. उन्होंने बॉलीवुड में राज कपूर के साथ काम करने के अलावा पद्मिनी ने साउथ के सुपरस्टार जेमिनी गणेशन के साथ भी काम किया है. वर्ष 1962 में भारत-चीन के युद्ध के दौरान पद्मिनी आर्मी कैंप में जाकर सेना के जवानों का हौंसला बढ़ाती साथ ही वहां पर डांस परफॉर्मेंस भी दिया करती थीं. वर्ष 1966 और 1971 में कांग्रेस पार्टी के टिकट से लोकसभा का चुनाव भी लड़ा था.
5. ई. श्रीधरन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1932 में भारत के प्रसिद्ध सिविल इंजीनियर ई. श्रीधरन का जन्म पलक्काड़, केरल, भारत में हुआ था. वर्ष 1995 – 2012 तक दिल्ली मेट्रो के निदेशक रहे. ई. श्रीधरन को भारत के ‘मेट्रो मैन’ के रूप में भी जाना जाता है. कोंकण रेलवे और दिल्ली में मेट्रो रेल का श्रेय इन्हीं को जाता है. भारत सरकार ने ई. श्रीधरन को वर्ष 2001 में पद्म श्री तथा वर्ष 2008 में पद्म विभूषण से भी सम्मानित किया है.
6. अभिनेत्री श्यामा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1935 में अभिनेत्री श्यामा का जन्म लाहौर, पाकिस्तान में हुआ था. श्यामा का वास्तविक नाम ख़ुर्शीद अख़्तर था. जब श्यामा की उम्र करीब दो साल थी तब उसके पिता लाहौर को छोड़कर मुंबई आ गए थे. वर्ष 1945 में श्यामा महज़ नौ साल की उम्र में पहली बार परदे पर रिलीज़ हुई फिल्म ‘ज़ीनत’ की क़व्वाली ‘आहें ना भरीं शिक़वे ना किए’ में नज़र आयी थीं. अभिनेत्री बनने से पहले श्यामा क़रीब 50 फ़िल्मों में बाल और अतिरिक्त कलाकार के तौर पर छोटे-मोटे रोल कर चुकी थीं.
7. बंडारू दत्तात्रेय:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1947 में भारतीय जनता पार्टी के वरिष्ठ राजनीतिज्ञ बंडारू दत्तात्रेय का जन्म हैदराबाद में हुआ था. बंडारू दत्तात्रेय ने अपना राजनीतिक कॅरियर संघ प्रचारक के तौर पर शुरू किया. आपातकाल के दौरान उन्हें गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया था. वर्ष 1980 में उन्होंने भाजपा की सदस्यता ली और आंध्र प्रदेश यूनिट के सचिव के तौर पर काम किया. वर्ष 2014 के चुनावों में उन्होंने तेलंगाना की सिकन्दराबाद सीट से भाजपा की ओर से भाग लिया था.बंडारू दत्तात्रेय 16वीं लोकसभा में सांसद व केंद्रीय श्रम एवं रोजगार राज्यमंत्री रहे.
8. भरतरी गायिका सुरुज बाई खांडे:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1949 में छत्तीसगढ़ की प्रसिद्ध भरतरी गायिका सुरुज बाई खांडे का जन्म बिलासपुर जिले के एक सामान्य ग्रामीण परिवार में हुआ था.उन्होंने महज सात साल की उम्र में अपने नाना रामसाय धृतलहरे से भरथरी, ढोला-मारू, चंदैनी जैसी लोक कथाओं को सीखना शुरू कर दिया था. सुरुज बाई खांडे को सबसे पहले रतनपुर मेले में गायन का मौका मिला. इसके बाद ‘मध्य प्रदेश आदिवासी लोक कला परिषद’ ने उनके इस हुनर को पहचाना और उन्हें वर्ष 1986-1987 में सोवियत रूस में हुए ‘भारत महोत्सव’ का हिस्सा बनने का मौका मिला.
9. राजनीतिज्ञ नरेन्द्र सिंह तोमर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1957 में भारतीय जनता पार्टी के राजनीतिज्ञ नरेन्द्र सिंह तोमर का जन्म मध्य प्रदेश के मुरैना जिले में पोरसा विकासखंड के तहत आने वाले ग्राम ओरेठी के तोमर क्षत्रिय परिवार में हुआ था. शिक्षा पूरी करने के बाद वे ग्वालियर नगर निगम के पार्षद पद पर निर्वाचित हुए. इसके बाद वे पूरी तरह से राजनीति में सक्रिय रहे. तोमर वर्ष 1977 में भारतीय जनता युवा मोर्चा के मंडल अध्यक्ष बनाए गए. तोमर पहली बार प्रदेश के मुरैना संसदीय क्षेत्र से वर्ष 2009 में लोकसभा सदस्य निर्वाचित हुए थे.
10. कथाकार और उपन्यासकार गीतांजलि श्री:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1957 में हिन्दी की जानी मानी कथाकार और उपन्यासकार गीतांजलि श्री का उत्तर-प्रदेश के मैनपुरी जनपद में जन्म हुआ था. गीतांजलि की प्रारंभिक शिक्षा उत्तर प्रदेश के विभिन्न शहरों में हुई. उन्होंने दिल्ली के लेडी श्रीराम कॉलेज से स्नातक और जवाहरलाल नेहरू विश्‍वविद्यालय से इतिहास में एम.ए. किया. महाराज सयाजी राव विवि, वडोदरा से प्रेमचंद और उत्तर भारत के औपनिवेशिक शिक्षित वर्ग विषय पर शोध की उपाधि प्राप्त की. कुछ दिनों तक जामिया मिल्लिया इस्लामिया विवि में अध्यापन के बाद सूरत के सेंटर फॉर सोशल स्टडीज में पोस्ट-डॉ टरल रिसर्च के लिए गईं. वहीं रहते हुए उन्होंने कहानियाँ लिखनी भी शुरू कीं.
11. दीनानाथ गोपाल तेंदुलकर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1972 में महात्मा गाँधी की जीवनी के लेखक दीनानाथ गोपाल तेंदुलकर का निधन हुआ था.
12. इलाहाबाद उच्च न्यायालय का ऐतिहासिक फैसला:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1975 में इन्दिरा गांधीऔर राजनारायन के चुनावी मुकदमे का ऐतिहासिक फैसला इलाहाबाद उच्च न्यायालय ने सुनाया था. कोर्ट ने फैसला सुनाते हुए इंदिरा के चुनाव को रद्द कर दिया और 6 साल तक उनके चुनाव लड़ने पर भी रोक लगा दी.
13. लोकतंत्र में काला अध्याय:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1975 में इन्दिरा गांधीऔर राजनारायन के चुनावी मुकदमे का ऐतिहासिक फैसला आने के बाद ही कंफर्म हो गया था कि देश में आपातकाल लगने वाला है. इसीलिए 12 जून को भारत के लोकतंत्र में काला अध्याय के रूप में जाना जाता है.
14. गोपीनाथ कविराज:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1976 में संस्कृत के विद्वान और महान दार्शनिक गोपीनाथ कविराज का निधन हुआ था.
15. भूतपूर्व सातवें मुख्य न्यायाधीश पी. बी. गजेन्द्रगडकर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1981में भूतपूर्व सातवें मुख्य न्यायाधीश पी. बी. गजेन्द्रगडकर का निधन हुआ था.
16. नेशनल सैटेलाइट लॉन्च:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1990 में सैटेलाइट (INSAT-1D) को लॉन्च किया गया.

2. K. Nagaraj Rao:- On this day in the year 1915, Kannada writer, playwright, stage artist, director, journalist, and social worker C.K. Nagraj Rao was born at Challakere in Chitradurga district to CS Krishnamurthy Rao.
3. Marathi actress Jayashree Talpade: – On this day in the year 1932, Marathi actress Jayashree Talpade was born. Talpade started his career at the age of 5 with Goonj Uthi Shehnai in 1958.
4. Actress Padmini:- On this day in the year 1932, Bharatanatyam dancer and actress Padmini was born in Poojappara, Thiruvananthapuram. Padmini was the second daughter of Thankappan Pillai and Saraswati Amma who was also a Bharatanatyam dancer. Along with elder sister Lalita and younger sister Ragini, Padmini became famous as the ‘Travancore Sisters’. Padmini stepped into the film world in the year 1949. During that period, Padmini also worked in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Russian language films apart from Hindi. Let us tell that, Padmini was compared to Vyjayanti Mala, the top actress of that era in Bollywood and South films. Apart from working with Raj Kapoor in Bollywood, Padmini has also worked with South superstar Gemini Ganesan. In the year 1962, during the Sino-Indian war, Padmini used to go to the army camp and give dance performances to encourage the soldiers. In the years 1966 and 1971, he also contested the Lok Sabha elections on a Congress party ticket.
5. Sreedharan:- On this day in the year 1932, India’s famous civil engineer E. Sreedharan was born in Palakkad, Kerala, India. He was the director of Delhi Metro from the year 1995 – 2012. E. Sreedharan is also known as the ‘Metro Man’ of India. The credit of Konkan Railway and Metro Rail in Delhi goes to him only. The government of India has also honored E. Sreedharan with Padma Shri in the year 2001 and Padma Vibhushan in the year 2008.
6. Actress Shyama: – On this day in the year 1935, actress Shyama was born in Lahore, Pakistan. Shyama’s real name was Khurshid Akhtar. When Shyama was about two years old, her father left Lahore and came to Mumbai. In the year 1945, at the age of just nine, Shyama appeared on screen for the first time in the film ‘Zeenat’ in the qawwali ‘Aahen Na Bhari Shikwe Na Kiye’. Before becoming an actress, Shyama had done small roles as a child and additional artist in about 50 films.
7. Bandaru Dattatreya: – On this day in the year 1947, Bandaru Dattatreya, a senior politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party, was born in Hyderabad. Bandaru Dattatreya started his political career as a union campaigner. He was arrested during the Emergency. In the year 1980, he joined the BJP and worked as the secretary of the Andhra Pradesh unit. He participated in the 2014 elections on behalf of the BJP from the Secunderabad seat of Telangana. Bandaru Dattatreya was a Member of Parliament in the 16th Lok Sabha and Union Minister of State for Labor and Employment.
8. Bhartari singer Suruj Bai Khande:- On this day in the year 1949, Chhattisgarh’s famous Bhartari singer Suruj Bai Khande was born in a normal rural family in Bilaspur district. She married Bharthari at the age of just seven from her maternal grandfather Ramsay Dhritalhare. Started learning folk tales like Dhola-Maru, and Chandaini. Suruj Bai Khande first got a chance to sing at the Ratanpur fair. After this, ‘Madhya Pradesh Adivasi Lok Kala Parishad’ recognized his talent and he got a chance to be a part of the ‘Bharat Mahotsav’ held in Soviet Russia in the year 1986-1987.

Politician Narendra Singh Tomar:- On this day in the year 1957, Bharatiya Janata Party politician Narendra Singh Tomar was born in the Tomar Kshatriya family of Orethi village under the Porsa development block in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh. After completing his education, he was elected to the post of councilor of Gwalior Municipal Corporation. After this, he remained fully active in politics. Tomar was made the Mandal President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha in the year 1977. For the first time, Tomar was elected a Lok Sabha member in the year 2009 from the Morena parliamentary constituency of the state.
10. Story writer and novelist Gitanjali Shri:- On this day in the year 1957, the famous Hindi story writer and novelist Gitanjali Shri was born in the Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh. Gitanjali’s early education took place in different cities of Uttar Pradesh. She graduated from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi, and MA in History from Jawaharlal Nehru University. Did. Received a research degree from Maharaj Sayaji Rao University, Vadodara on Premchand and the Colonial Educated Classes of North India.
