1. स्वामिनारायण:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1830 में हिंदू धर्म के स्वामिनारायण संप्रदाय के संस्थापक सहजानन्द स्वामी का निधन हुआ था. भगवान स्वामिनारायण ने जो नियम बनाये, वे स्वयं भी उनका कठोरता से पालन करते थे. उन्होंने यज्ञ में हिंसा, बलिप्रथा, सतीप्रथा, कन्या हत्या, भूत बाधा जैसी कुरीतियों को बंद कराया. प्राकृतिक आपदा आने पर वे बिना भेदभाव के सबकी सहायता करते थे. इस सेवाभाव को देखकर लोग उन्हें भगवान के अवतारी मानने लगे. भगवान स्वामिनारायण जी ने अनेक मंदिरों का निर्माण कराया, इनके निर्माण के समय वे स्वयं सबके साथ श्रमदान करते थे. धर्म के प्रति इसी प्रकार श्रद्धाभाव जगाते हुए भगवान स्वामिनारायण जी ने गुणतितानंद स्वामी को अपने आध्यात्मिक उत्तराधिकारी के तौर पर नियुक्ति कर के 1 जून 1830 में पंच भौतिक देह का त्याग किया.
2. ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1874 में ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनी को भंग किया गया.
3. एस. मुखर्जी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1927 में भारत के भूतपूर्व 20वें मुख्य न्यायाधीश एस. मुखर्जी का जन्म हुआ था.
4. नरगिस दत्त:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1929 में फिल्म ‘मदर इंडिया’ में हिन्दी फिल्मों की सबसे यादगार मां का किरदार निभाने वाली नरगिस दत्त का जन्म कोलकाता,पश्चिम बंगाल में हुआ था. नरगिस का वास्तविक नाम फ़ातिमा रशिद था.इनका विवाह अभिनेता व राजनेता सुनील दत्त से हुआ था. नरगिस ने अपने फ़िल्मी सफर की शुरुआत बचपन तलाश-ए-हक़ (1935) में ही कर दी थी लेकिन इन्होंने एक्टिंग करनी 1942 में तमन्ना फ़िल्म से शुरू की थी. वर्ष 1957 की मदर इंडिया फ़िल्म के लिए इनको एकेडमी अवॉर्ड के लिए नामांकित किया गया था साथ ही इस फ़िल्म के लिए इन्हें सबसे अच्छी फ़िल्म अभिनेत्री का फिल्मफेयर पुरस्कार भी दिया गया था.
5. डीलक्स रेलगाड़ी डक्कन क्वीन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1930 में भारत की पहली डीलक्स रेलगाड़ी डक्कन क्वीन को बॉम्बे वी टी और पुणे के बीच शुरू किया गया. यह सबसे लंबी दूरी की पहली इलेक्ट्रिक ट्रेन थी. इसमें महिलाओं के लिए विशेष कोच जोड़ा गया था. यह देश की पहली ट्रेन थी जिसमें भोजन की सुविधा थी.
6. बलदेव वंशी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1938 में समकालीन कवि एवं लेखक बलदेव वंशी का जन्म पाकिस्तान के मुल्तान शहर में हुआ था. बलदेव वंशी का नाम आते ही सहसा भारत के संघ लोक सेवा आयोग के गेट पर भारतीय भाषाओं को उनका हक दिलाने के लिए चलाए गए दुनिया के सबसे लंबे धरने की याद आ जाती हैं. बलदेव वंशी का व्यक्तित्व उनके जीवन संघर्षों की आंच में तपा था. अध्यापन कार्य से अवकाश प्राप्त डॉ. बलदेव वंशी ने न केवल साहित्य की विविध् विधाओं में अपनी कलम चलाई वरन् हिन्दी के प्रचार-प्रसार के कार्य में सक्रिय भागीदारी भी की.
7. एस. राजेन्द्र बाबू:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1939 में भारत के 34वें मुख्य न्यायाधीश एस. राजेन्द्र बाबू का जन्म हुआ था.
8. चिमन सिंह यादव:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1945 में ‘महावीर चक्र’ से सम्मानित भारतीय नौसेना के नाविक चिमन सिंह यादव का जन्म पंजाब के गुड़गांव जिले के गोकल गढ़ गांव में हुआ था.बचपन से ही चिमन सिंह को गांव के तालाब में तैरने और गोता लगाने का शौक था.चिमन सिंह ने बीएस अहीर हाई स्कूल रेवाड़ी से मैट्रिक पास किया. वह केवल 16 साल की उम्र में 8 जून, 1961 को एक नाविक के रूप में नौसेना में शामिल हो गए. सात वर्षों के भीतर चिमन लीडिंग सीमैन बन गए. उन्होंने दुश्मन के युद्धपोतों और पनडुब्बियों के खिलाफ बारूदी सुरंग लगाने में विशेषज्ञता हासिल की. वर्ष 1971 की जंग में चिमन सिंह यादव को पूर्वी पाकिस्तान में मंगला और खुलना बे में दुश्मन के ठिकानों पर हमला करने का काम सौंपा गया था. वह एक छोटे नौसेना पोत के दल के हिस्सा थे.खुलना से ऑपरेट करते समय पोत पर दुष्मन ने हवाई हमला किया था, जिससे पोत डूब गया था.
9. सुरेश अंगदी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1955 में भारतीय जनता पार्टी के राजनीतिज्ञ सुरेश अंगदी का जन्म हुआ था.
10. अस्पृश्यता (निरोधक) कानून:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1955 में अस्पृश्यता (निरोधक) कानून अस्तित्व में आया. भारत के संविधान के अनुच्छेद 17 के अन्तर्गत अस्पृश्यता की प्रथा के उन्मूलन के कार्य के भाग के रूप में, भारत सरकार ने भारतीय समाज के सर्वाधिक वंचित समुदायों के साथ समानता के व्यवहार और न्याय के प्रति वचनबद्ध कानून के रूप में दो विशेष और सामाजिक रूप से अर्थपूर्ण अधिनियम बनाए थे.
11. अशोक कुमार:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1958 में हॉकी खिलाड़ी अशोक कुमार का जन्म मेरठ, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ था. भारतीय हॉकी के दिग्गज खिलाड़ी मेजर ध्यानचंद के बेटे हैं अशोक. इन्होंने तीन विश्व कप खेले, वह 1975 के विश्व कप जीतने वाली भारतीय हॉकी टीम के सदस्य थे.उन्होंने पहला वर्ल्ड कप 1971 में खेला जिसमें भारतीय टीम ने कांस्य पदक प्राप्त किया उसके बाद 1973 के विश्व कप की रजत पदक विजेता टीम के भी सदस्य रहे.
12. भगवंत खुबा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1967 में भारतीय जनता पार्टी के राजनीतिज्ञ भगवंत खुबा का जन्म हुआ था.
13. कुरुवा गोरान्तला माधव:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1969 में आंध्र प्रदेश के एक राजनेता कुरुवा गोरान्तला माधव का जन्म हुआ था.
14. विलियम मैल्कम हेली:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1969 में पंजाब, उत्तर प्रदेश के पूर्व राज्यपाल विलियम मैल्कम हेली का निधन हुआ था.
15. मनसुख मंडाविया:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1972 में भारतीय जनता पार्टी के राजनीतिज्ञ मनसुख मंडाविया का जन्म हुआ था.
16. कर्णम मल्लेश्वरी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1975 में भारत की प्रसिद्ध भारोत्तोलक कर्णम मल्लेश्वरी का जन्म श्रीकाकुलम, आंध्र प्रदेश में हुआ था. मल्लेश्वरी ने अपने करियर की शुरुआत जूनियर वेटलिफ्टिंग चैंपियनशिप से की, जहां उन्होंने नंबर एक पायदान पर कब्जा किया.वर्ष 1992 के एशियन चैंपियनशिप में मल्लेश्वरी ने 3 रजत पदक जीते. वैसे तो उन्होंने विश्व चैंपियनशिप में 3 कांस्य पदक पर कब्जा किया है, किन्तु उनकी को सबसे बड़ी कामयाबी 2000 के सिडनी ओलंपिक में मिली, जहां उन्होने कांस्य पर कब्जा किया और इसी पदक के साथ वे ओलंपिक में पदक जीतने वाली पहली भारतीय महिला बनी.
17. ख़्वाजा अहमद अब्बास:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1987 में फ़िल्म निर्देशक, पटकथा लेखक और उर्दू लेखक ख़्वाजा अहमद अब्बास का निधन हुआ था. ख़्वाजा अहमद अब्बास उन कुछ गिने चुने लेखकों में से एक थे, जिन्होंने मुहब्बत, शांति और मानवता का पैगाम दिया. एक पत्रकार के रूप में उन्होंने ‘अलीगढ़ ओपिनियन’ शुरू किया.
18. राजेश्वरी गायकवाड़:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1991 में भारतीय महिला क्रिकेटर राजेश्वरी गायकवाड़ का जन्म कर्नाटक में हुआ था. इनका पूरा नाम राजेश्वरी शिवानंद गायकवाड़ है.बायें हाथ की स्पिनर राजेश्वरी ने चार विकेट की मदद से भारतीय महिलाओं ने तीसरे एक दिवसीय क्रिकेट मैच में वेस्टइंडीज को 15 रन से हराकर तीन मैचों की श्रृंखला 3.0 से जीत लिया था.राजेश्वरी ने 19 जनवरी, 2014 को श्रीलंका के खिलाफ एक दिवसीय अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट में अपना पहला प्रदर्शन किया.
19. हवाई समझौता:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1992 में भारत एवं इजरायल के बीच हवाई समझौता हुआ था. भारत-इज़राइल सम्बन्ध, भारत तथा इज़राइल के मध्य द्विपक्षीय सम्बन्धों को दर्शाते हैं. वर्ष 1992 तक भारत तथा इज़राइल के मध्य किसी प्रकार के सम्बन्ध नहीं रहे. इसके मुख्यतः दो कारण थे- पहला, भारत गुट निरपेक्ष राष्ट्र था जो की पूर्व सोवियत संघ का समर्थक था तथा दूसरे गुट निरपेक्ष राष्ट्रों की तरह इज़राइल को मान्यता नहीं देता था. बताते चलें कि,वर्ष 1992 में भारत और इजरायल ने पूर्ण राजनयिक सम्बन्ध स्थापित किए. और तब से दोनों देशों के रिश्ते मजबूत हो गए. 2023 में भारत एशिया में इजरायल का सबसे बड़ा ट्रेड पार्टनर है.
20. नीलम संजीव रेड्डी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1996 में भारत के छठे राष्ट्रपति नीलम संजीव रेड्डी का निधन हुआ था. आन्ध्र प्रदेश के कृषक परिवार में जन्मे नीलम संजीव रेड्डी की छवि कवि, अनुभवी राजनेता एवं कुशल प्रशासक के रूप में थी. इनका सार्वजनिक जीवन उत्कृष्ट था.
21. आतंकवाद विरोधी सम्मेलन:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2008 में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय आतंकवाद विरोधी सम्मेलन नई दिल्ली में सम्पन्न हुआ था.
22. मानवाधिकार आयोग के पहले दलित अध्यक्ष:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2010 में भारतीय सर्वोच्च न्यायालय के मुख्य न्यायाधीश पद से सेवानिवृत्त हुए बालाकृष्णन को राष्ट्रीय मानवाधिकार आयोग का अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया गया. वे मानवाधिकार आयोग के पहले दलित अध्यक्ष हैं. आयोग के अध्यक्ष का पद पिछले एक वर्ष से रिक्त था.
23. अक्षरधाम आतंकी हमले:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2010 में अक्षरधाम आतंकी हमले के मामले में गुजरात हाईकोर्ट ने निचली अदालत के फैसले को बरकरार रखा. विशेष पोटा जज सोनिया गोकाणी की अदालत ने 2006 में इस मामले में तीन आरोपियों को फाँसी, एक को उम्रकैद, एक को 10 वर्षों की सज़ा और एक को पाँच वर्षों की सज़ा सुनाई थी. स्वामीनारायण संप्रदाय के गांधीनगर स्थित अक्षरधाम मंदिर में सितंबर 2002 में दो आतंकियों के हमले में 33 लोग मारे गए थे.
24. इतिहासकार बाल राम नंदा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2010 में नेहरू स्मारक संग्रहालय और पुस्तकालय के संस्थापक निदेशक एवं महात्मा गाँधी पर कई किताबें लिख चुके इतिहासकार बाल राम नंदा का निधन हुआ था.

1. Swaminarayan: – On this day in the year 1830, Sahajanand Swami, the founder of the Swaminarayan sect of Hinduism, passed away. The rules made by Lord Swaminarayan, he himself strictly followed them. He stopped evils like violence, sacrificial practice, sati practice, female murder, and ghost obstruction in Yagya. He used to help everyone without any discrimination when there was a natural calamity. Seeing this service, people started considering him as an incarnation of God. Lord Swaminarayan ji got many temples built, at the time of their construction he himself used to do shramdaan along with everyone. In this way, Lord Swaminarayan ji left his physical body on June 1, 1830, by appointing Gunatitanand Swami as his spiritual successor.
2. East India Company: – On this day in the year 1874, the East India Company was dissolved.
3. Mukherjee: – On this day in the year 1927, former 20th Chief Justice of India S. Mukherjee was born.
4. Nargis Dutt:- On this day in the year 1929, Nargis Dutt, who played the role of the most memorable mother of Hindi films in the film ‘Mother India’, was born in Kolkata, West Bengal. Nargis’ real name was Fatima Rashid. She was married to actor and politician Sunil Dutt. Nargis started her film career in Bachpan Talaash-e-Haq (1935) but she started acting in 1942 with the film Tamanna. She was nominated for the Academy Award for the 1957 film Mother India, as well as the Filmfare Award for Best Film Actress for this film.
5. Deluxe train Deccan Queen:- On this day in the year 1930, India’s first deluxe train Deccan Queen was started between Bombay VT and Pune. It was the first electric train of the longest distance. A special coach for women was added to it. It was the first train in the country to have food facilities.
6. Baldev Vanshi:- On this day in the year 1938, a contemporary poet and writer Baldev Vanshi was born in the Multan City of Pakistan. As soon as Baldev Vanshi’s name comes up, suddenly one remembers the world’s longest protest at the gate of the Union Public Service Commission of India to give Indian languages their rights. Baldev Vanshi’s personality was tempered in the heat of his life’s struggles. Retired from teaching, Dr. Baldev Vanshi not only used his pen in various genres of literature but also took an active part in the promotion of Hindi.
7. Rajendra Babu:- On this day in the year 1939, the 34th Chief Justice of India S. Rajendra Babu was born.
8. Chiman Singh Yadav:- On this day in the year 1945, Indian Navy sailor Chiman Singh Yadav, honored with ‘Mahavir Chakra’, was born in Gokal Garh village of Gurgaon district of Punjab. Since childhood, Chiman Singh was fond of swimming and diving in the village pond. Chiman Singh passed matriculation from BS Ahir High School, Rewari. He joined the Navy as a sailor on June 8, 1961, at the age of only 16. Within seven years, Chiman became Leading Seaman. He specialized in laying minefields against enemy warships and submarines. In the 1971 war, Chiman Singh Yadav was assigned the task of attacking enemy positions in Mangla and Khulna Bay in East Pakistan. He was part of the crew of a small naval vessel. While operating from Khulna, the vessel was sunk by an enemy air attack.
9. Suresh Angadi: – On this day in the year 1955, Bharatiya Janata Party politician Suresh Angadi was born.
10. Untouchability (Prevention) Act: – On this day in the year 1955, the Untouchability (Prevention) Act came into existence. As part of the task of eradicating the practice of untouchability under Article 17 of the Constitution of India, the Government of India enacted two special and socially significant legislations committed to equal treatment and justice for the most disadvantaged communities of Indian society. Meaningful acts were made.
11. Ashok Kumar:- On this day in the year 1958, hockey player Ashok Kumar was born in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Ashok is the son of Indian hockey legend Major Dhyanchand. He played in three World Cups, he was a member of the Indian hockey team that won the World Cup in 1975. He played in the first World Cup in 1971, in which the Indian team won the bronze medal, and then was also a member of the silver medal-winning team of the 1973 World Cup.
12. Bhagwant Khuba:- On this day in the year 1967 Bhagwant Khuba, a politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party was born.
13. Kuruva Gorantla Madhav:- On this day in the year 1969, Kuruva Gorantla Madhav, a politician from Andhra Pradesh was born.
14. William Malcolm Haley: – On this day in the year 1969, William Malcolm Haley, former Governor of Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, died.
15. Mansukh Mandaviya: – On this day in the year 1972, Bharatiya Janata Party politician Mansukh Mandaviya was born.
16. Karnam Malleswari:- On this day in the year 1975, India’s famous weightlifter Karnam Malleswari was born in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh. Malleswari started her career in the Junior Weightlifting Championship, where she captured the number one position. In the 1992 Asian Championships, Malleswari won 3 silver medals. Although she captured 3 bronze medals in the World Championships, her biggest success came in the 2000 Sydney Olympics, where she won bronze and with this medal, she became the first Indian woman to win a medal in the Olympics.
17. Khwaja Ahmad Abbas:- On this day in the year 1987, film director, screenwriter and Urdu writer Khwaja Ahmad Abbas passed away. Khwaja Ahmad Abbas was one of the few writers who gave the message of love, peace, and humanity. As a journalist, he started ‘Aligarh Opinion’.
18. Rajeshwari Gaikwad:- On this day in the year 1991, Indian women cricketer Rajeshwari Gaikwad was born in Karnataka. Her full name is Rajeshwari Shivanand Gaikwad. Left-arm spinner Rajeshwari took four wickets to help Indian women beat West Indies by 15 runs in the third one-day cricket match to win the three-match series 3-0. Rajeshwari January 19, 2014 Made his debut in One Day International cricket against Sri Lanka.
19. Air Agreement: – On this day in the year 1992, an air agreement was signed between India and Israel. India–Israel relations refer to the bilateral relations between India and Israel. Till the year 1992, there was no relation between India and Israel. There were mainly two reasons for this – First, India was a non-aligned nation that was a supporter of the former Soviet Union and did not recognize Israel like other non-aligned nations. Let us tell that in the year 1992, India and Israel established full diplomatic relations. And since then the relations between the two countries became stronger. In 2023, India is Israel’s largest trade partner in Asia.
20. Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy:- On this day in the year 1996, the sixth President of India Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy passed away. Born in a farming family in Andhra Pradesh, Neelam Sanjiva Reddy had an image as a poet, experienced politician, and skilled administrator. His public life was excellent.
21. Anti-Terrorism Conference:- On this day in the year 2008, the International Anti-Terrorism Conference was held in New Delhi.
22. First Dalit Chairman of Human Rights Commission:- On this day in the year 2010, Balakrishnan, who retired from the post of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India, was appointed as the chairman of the National Human Rights Commission. He is the first Dalit chairman of the Human Rights Commission. The post of the chairman of the commission was lying vacant for the last year.
23. Akshardham terror attack:- On this day in the year 2010, the Gujarat High Court upheld the decision of the lower court in the case of the Akshardham terror attack. In 2006, the court of special POTA judge Sonia Gokani sentenced three accused to death, one to life imprisonment, one to 10 years, and one to five years in this case. In September 2002, 33 people were killed in an attack by two terrorists at the Gandhinagar-based Akshardham temple of the Swaminarayan sect.
24. Historian Bal Ram Nanda:- On this day in the year 2010, the founder and director of Nehru Memorial Museum and Library and historian Bal Ram Nanda, who had written several books on Mahatma Gandhi, passed away.
