1. मुराद बख़्श: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1624 में मुराद बख़्श का जन्म रोहतासगढ़ किले ( बिहार) में शाहजहां और उनकी पत्नी मुमताज महल के छठे पुत्र के रूप में हुआ था.
2. साहित्यकार राजा लक्षमण सिंह: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1826 में साहित्यकार राजा लक्षमण सिंह का जन्म आगरा (उत्तर प्रदेश) में हुआ था. लक्षमण सिंह की प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा घर पर ही हुई. उन्होंने घर पर हिंदी और उर्दू पढने के बाद अंग्रेजी की पढ़ाई की. पढाई पूरी करने के बाद लक्षमण सिंह पश्चिम उत्तर प्रदेश लेफ्टिनेंट गवर्नर के कार्यालय में अनुवादक नियुक्त हो गये. उसके बाद तहसीलदार बने. वर्ष 1857 में अंग्रेज़ों की सहायता करने पर डिप्टी कलेक्टर का पद और ‘राजा’ की उपाधि मिली थी. राजा लक्षमण सिंह ने वर्ष 1881 में “प्रजा हितैषी” नामक एक पत्र निकाला था. वर्ष 1863 में महाकवि कालिदास की अमर कृति “अभिज्ञान शाकुन्तलम्” का हिंदी अनुवाद, “शंकुतला नाटक” के नाम से प्रकाशित हुआ था उसकी रचना भी राजा लक्षमण सिंह ने ही किया था. उस समय के हिंदी प्रेमी ‘फ्रेडरिक पिन्काट’ ने लक्षमण सिंह की शैली से प्रभावित होकर वर्ष 1875 में इसे इंग्लैंड में प्रकाशित कराया था. जिससे लक्षमण सिंह को काफी प्रसिद्धि मिली थी.
3. गृह विभाग के कार्यवाहक सचिव विलियम एस मारिस: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1873 में भारत सरकार के गृह विभाग के कार्यवाहक सचिव विलियम एस मारिस का जन्म हुआ था. उन्होंने कैण्टर बरी कॉलेज (न्यूजीलैण्ड) तथा क्राइस्ट चर्च, आक्सफोर्ड से शिक्षा प्राप्त की थी. वर्ष 1895 में विलियम एस मारिस ने आई.सी.एस. की परीक्षा पास की थी. वर्ष 1896 में उन्होंने सहायक मजिस्ट्रेट के पद पर उत्तर प्रदेश(भारत) में काम किया था. वर्ष 1922 में उन्हें उत्तर प्रदेश का राज्यपाल नियुक्त किया गया और वे इस पद पर 1928 तक रहे साथ ही वर्ष 1928-1929 की अवधि में भारतीय परिषद के सदस्य भी रहे थे.
4. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी गोप बन्धु दास : – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1877 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी गोप बन्धु दास का जन्म उड़ीसा के पुरी ज़िले में साक्षी गोपाल के निकट सुआंडो नामक गाँव के एक गरीब ब्राह्मण परिवार में हुआ था. इनके पिता का नाम दैतारि दास और माता का नाम स्वर्णमयी देवी था. गोपबंधु की शिक्षा कलकत्ता (कोलकाता) से की थी. वर्ष 1906 में उन्होंने एल.एल.बी. की डिग्री प्राप्त कर वकालत करने लगे. विद्यार्थी जीवन में ही गोपबंधु ने ‘उत्कल सममिलनी’ संस्था में शामिल हो गये थे. इस संस्था का मुख्य उद्देश्य सभी उड़िया भाषियों को एक राज्य के रूप में संगठित करना था. उन्होंने इसे स्वतंत्रता संग्राम की अग्रवाहिनी बनाया और जब महात्मा गांधी ने ‘असहयोग आन्दोलन’ प्रारम्भ किया’ तब गोपबंधु ने अपनी संस्था को कांग्रेस में मिला दिया था. स्वतंत्रता संग्राम में उन्होंने कई बार जेल की यात्रा भी की थी. वर्ष 1920 की नागपुर कांग्रेस में उनके प्रस्ताव पर ही कांग्रेस ने भाषावार प्रांत बनाने की नीति को स्वीकार किया था. गोपबंधु दास ने साक्षी गोपाल में एक हाई स्कूल की स्थापना वर्ष 1909 में की थी.
5. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी मिनजुर भक्तवत्सलम: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1897 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी मिनजुर भक्तवत्सलम का जन्म चिंगलपट में हुआ था. भक्तवत्सलम ने एनी बेसेंट के होमरूल लीग आन्दोलन में और रौलट बिल के विरोध में भाग लिया था. उसी समय उनका सम्पर्क राजगोपालाचारी से हुआ उसके बाद महात्मा गांधी के प्रभाव से वे स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के आन्दोलन में सक्रिय हो गये थे. उन्होंने वर्ष 1932 के सविनय अवज्ञा आन्दोलन में 1940 के व्यक्तिगत सत्याग्रह में और भारत छोड़ो आन्दोलन में जेल की यातनाएं भी सहीं थी. वर्ष 1937 के मद्रास मंत्रिमंडल में भक्तवत्सलम ने सभा सचिव के रूप में प्रवेश किया था. वर्ष 1963 में मिनजुर भक्तवत्सलम  तमिलनाडु के मुख्यमंत्री बने थे.
6. अलीगढ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1920 में अलीगढ़ के एंग्लो ओरिएंटल कॉलेज का नाम बदलकर अलीगढ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय कर दिया गया था. बताते चलें कि, समाज सुधारक सर सैयद अहमद ने वर्ष 1875 में मुस्लिम एंग्लो ओरिएंटल कॉलेज की स्थापना की थी.
7. सरोद वादक उस्ताद अमजद अली खान: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1945 में सरोद वादक उस्ताद अमजद अली खान का जन्म ग्वालियर के ‘सेनिया बंगश’ घराने की छठी पीढ़ी में हुआ था. अमजद अली खाँ को संगीत विरासत में प्राप्त हुआ था. इनके पिता का नाम उस्ताद हाफ़िज़ अली खाँ जो कि ग्वालियर राज-दरबार में प्रतिष्ठित संगीतज्ञ थे. बताते चलें कि, इस घराने के संगीतज्ञों ने ही ईरान के लोकवाद्य ‘रबाब’ को भारतीय संगीत के अनुकूल परिवर्द्धित कर ‘सरोद’ नामकरण किया था. अमजद ने महज 12 वर्ष की आयु में एकल सरोद वादन का पहला सार्वजनिक कार्यक्रम पेश किया था. अमजद अली ने शास्त्रीय संगीत में अभिनव परिवर्तन के अलावा बच्चों के लिए गायन एवं वाद्य संगीत की रचना की थी. उन्होंने इंदिरा गांधी और राजीव गांधी की स्मृति में राग प्रियदर्शनी और राग कमलश्री की रचना की साथ ही उन्होंने अन्य रागों में शिवांजली, हरिप्रिया कानदा, किरण रंजनी, सुहाग भैरव, ललित ध्वनि, श्याम श्री और जवाहर मंजरी शामिल हैं. वर्ष 1971 में उन्होंने द्वितीय एशियाई अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय संगीत-सम्मेलन में भाग लेकर ‘रोस्टम पुरस्कार’ प्राप्त किया था. उस्ताद अमजद अली खान को भारत सरकार द्वारा वर्ष 1991 में कला के क्षेत्र में पद्म भूषण सम्मान से सम्मानित किया था.
8. प्रादेशिक सेना की स्थापना: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1949 में प्रादेशिक सेना की स्थापना की गई थी. जिसका उद्घाटन स्वतंत्र भारत के पहले गवर्नर सी. राजगोपालाचारी ने किया था.
9. दूसरी महिला राजदूत मीरा शंकर: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1950 में संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका में भारत की दूसरी महिला राजदूत मीरा शंकर का जन्म हुआ था. बताते चलें कि, संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका में भारत की पहली महिला राजदूत विजया लक्ष्मी नेहरू पंडित थीं. मीरा वर्ष 1973 बैच की अधिकारी थी और उन्होंने वाशिंगटन डीसी में वर्ष 1991-95 तक कार्य किया था.  
10. अभिनेत्री सयानी गुप्ता: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1985 में अभिनेत्री सयानी गुप्ता का जन्म कोलकत्ता (पश्चिम बंगाल) में हुआ था. सयानी गुप्ता ने अपने अभिनय कैरियर की शुरुआत मार्गरीटा विद अस्ट्रॉ से की थी. सायानी की पहचान वेब सीरीज ‘फोर मोर शॉट्स प्लीज’ मिली थी.
11. अभिनेत्री वेदिता प्रताप सिंह: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1987 में अभिनेत्री वेदिता प्रताप सिंह का जन्म इंदौर, मध्य प्रदेश में हुआ था. उनके पिता प्रतापगढ़ के दल्लीपुर एस्टेट के एक प्रतिष्ठित शाही चौहान परिवार से हैं, जबकि उनकी माँ त्रिपुरा के देव वर्मन परिवार से हैं. वेदिता ने मेयो कॉलेज गर्ल्स स्कूल, अजमेर में पढ़ते हुए, उन्हें भारतीय खेल प्राधिकरण राष्ट्रीय तैराकी छात्रवृति से सम्मानित किया गया था साथ ही जेवियर कॉलेज, मुंबई में, उन्होंने विभिन्न थिएटर शो में अभिनय किया और अंतर-कॉलेजिएट सौंदर्य प्रतियोगिता भी जीती थीं. वेदिता ने हिंदी फिल्म अभिनेता कादर खान के नाटक ‘ताश की पट्टी’ में भी काम किया है साथ ही उन्होंने वर्ष 2014 में उन्होंने हेमंत मधुकर द्वारा निर्देशित फिल्म ‘मुंबई 125 केएम’ में काम किया है.
12. राजनीतिज्ञ कांशी राम: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2006 में राजनीतिज्ञ और कांशी राम बहुजन समाज पार्टी के संस्थापक का निधन दिल्ली में हुआ था.
13. अभिनेता रघुमुद्री श्रीहरि: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2013 में अभिनेता रघुमुद्री श्रीहरि का निधन मुंबई में हुआ था.
14. संगीतकार तथा गायक रवीन्द्र जैन: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2015 में संगीतकार तथा गायक रवीन्द्र जैन का निधन मुंबई में हुआ था.

1. Murad Baksh: – On this day in the year 1624, Murad Baksh was born in Rohtasgarh Fort (Bihar) as the sixth son of Shahjahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal.
2. Litterateur Raja Laxman Singh: – On this day in the year 1826, litterateur Raja Laxman Singh was born in Agra (Uttar Pradesh). Lakshman Singh’s primary education took place at home. After studying Hindi and Urdu at home, he studied English. After completing his studies, Laxman Singh was appointed translator in the office of the Lieutenant Governor of Western Uttar Pradesh. After that he became Tehsildar. In the year 1857, he got the post of Deputy Collector and the title of ‘Raja’ for helping the British. Raja Laxman Singh published a paper named “Praja Hitaishi” in the year In the year 1863, the Hindi translation of great poet Kalidas’s immortal work “Abhigyan Shakuntalam” was published in the name of “Shankutala Natak”, which was also composed by Raja Lakshman Singh. The Hindi lover of that time, ‘Frederic Pincot’, got it published in England in the year 1875, influenced by the style of Laxman Singh. Due to this Laxman Singh got a lot of fame.
3. William S. Marris, Acting Secretary of the Home Department: – On this day in the year 1873, William S. Marris, Acting Secretary of the Home Department of the Government of India, was born. He received his education from Canterbury College (New Zealand) and Christ Church, Oxford. In the year 1895, William S. Maris received the ICS. Had passed the exam. In the year 1896, he worked as an Assistant Magistrate in Uttar Pradesh (India). In the year 1922, he was appointed the Governor of Uttar Pradesh and he remained in this post till 1928 and was also a member of the Indian Council during the period 1928-1929.

Freedom fighter Gop Bandhu Das: – On this day in the year 1877, freedom fighter Gop Bandhu Das was born in a poor Brahmin family in a village named Suando near Sakshi Gopal in the Puri district of Orissa. His father’s name was Daitari Das and his mother’s name was Swarnamoyee Devi. Gopabandhu was educated in Calcutta (Kolkata). In the year 1906, he did L.L.B. After obtaining a degree, he started practising law. Gopabandhu joined the organization ‘Utkal Sammilani’ during his student days. The main objective of this organization was to organize all Odia-speaking people into a single state. He made it the vanguard of the freedom struggle and when Mahatma Gandhi started the ‘non-cooperation movement’, Gopabandhu merged his organization with the Congress. He also visited jail several times during the freedom struggle. It was on his proposal in the Nagpur Congress of 1920 that the Congress accepted the policy of creating language-wise provinces. Gopabandhu Das established a high school at Sakshi Gopal in the year
5. Freedom fighter Minjur Bhaktavatsalam: – On this day in the year 1897, freedom fighter Minjur Bhaktavatsalam was born in Chingalpat. Bhaktavatsalam took part in Annie Besant’s Home Rule League movement and protested against the Rowlatt Bill. At the same time, he came in contact with Rajagopalachari, after which, under the influence of Mahatma Gandhi, he became active in the freedom struggle movement. He also endured jail torture in the Civil Disobedience Movement of 1932, Individual Satyagraha in 1940 and the Quit India Movement. Bhaktavatsalam entered the Madras Cabinet of 1937 as Assembly Secretary. In the year 1963, Minjur Bhaktavatsalam became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.  
6. Aligarh Muslim University: – On this day in the year 1920, the name of Anglo-Oriental College of Aligarh was changed to Aligarh Muslim University. Let us tell you that social reformer Sir Syed Ahmed established the Muslim Anglo-Oriental College in the year 1875.
7. Sarod player Ustad Amjad Ali Khan: – On this day in the year 1945, Sarod player Ustad Amjad Ali Khan was born in the sixth generation of ‘Senia Bangash’ gharana of Gwalior. Amjad Ali Khan inherited music. His father’s name was Ustad Hafiz Ali Khan, and he was a renowned musician in the Gwalior royal court. Let us tell you that the musicians of this gharana had modified the Iranian folk instrument ‘Rabab’ to suit Indian music and named it ‘Sarod’. Amjad gave his first public solo sarod recital at the age of just 12. Apart from making innovative changes in classical music, Amjad Ali composed vocal and instrumental music for children. He composed Raga Priyadarshini and Raga Kamalashree in memory of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. Other ragas he composed include Shivanjali, Haripriya Kanada, Kiran Ranjani, Suhag Bhairav, Lalit Dhvani, Shyam Shri and Jawahar Manjari. In the year 1971, he participated in the Second Asian International Music Conference and received the ‘Rostom Award’. Ustad Amjad Ali Khan was honoured with the Padma Bhushan award in the field of arts by the Government of India in the year 1991.
8. Establishment of Territorial Army: – On this day in the year 1949, Territorial Army was established. Which was inaugurated by the first Governor of independent India, C. Rajagopalachari.
9. Second female Ambassador Meera Shankar: – On this day in the year 1950, India’s second female Ambassador to the United States Meera Shankar was born. Let us tell you that the first female ambassador of India to the United States was Vijaya Lakshmi, Nehru Pandit. Meera was a 1973 batch officer and had worked in Washington DC from 1991-95.
10. Actress Sayani Gupta: – On this day in the year 1985, actress Sayani Gupta was born in Kolkata (West Bengal). Sayani Gupta started her acting career with Margarita with Astro. Sayani got recognition from the web series ‘Four More Shots Please’.
11. Actress Vedita Pratap Singh: – On this day in the year 1987, actress Vedita Pratap Singh was born in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. His father hails from a prestigious royal Chauhan family of Dalipur estate in Pratapgarh, while his mother hails from the Dev Varman family of Tripura. While studying at Mayo College Girls School, Ajmer, Vedita was awarded the Sports Authority of India National Swimming Scholarship and at Xavier College, Mumbai, she acted in various theatre shows and also won inter-collegiate beauty pageants. Vedita has also worked in Hindi film actor Kader Khan’s play ‘Tash Ki Patti’ and in the year 2014, she worked in the film ‘Mumbai 125 KM’ directed by Hemant Madhukar.
