- न्यायाधीश बदरुद्दीन तैयबजी: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1844 में बदरुद्दीन तैयबजी का जन्म मुम्बई के एक धनी मुस्लिम परिवार में हुआ था. उन्होंने अपनी प्रारंभिक शिक्षा पूरी करने के बाद क़ानून की शिक्षा प्राप्त करने के लिए इंग्लैण्ड गए और वहां से बैरिस्टर बन कर वापस लौटे. तैयबजी ने मुम्बई से ही वकालत की प्रैक्टिस शुरू की. बताते चलें कि, जिस वक्त तैयबजी ने अपनी वकालत की प्रैक्टिस शुरू की थी उस वक्त वहां न तो कोई न्यायाधीश भारतीय था, न कोई वकील. प्रतिभा और योग्यता के बल पर शीघ्र ही बदरुद्दीन तैयबजी की गणना उच्च कोटि के भारतीय वकीलों में होने लगी थी. बाद में उनकी नियुक्ति जब ‘मुंबई हाईकोर्ट’ के न्यायाधीश के पद पर हुई थी उस वक्त बाल गंगाधर तिलक पर राजद्रोह का मुकदमा चल रहा था तब तैयबजी ने ही तिलक को जमानत पर छोड़ने का साहसिक काम किया था.
- अभिनेता राजकुमार: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1926 में बालीवुड अभिनेता राजकुमार का जन्म बलूचिस्तान (अब पाकिस्तान) के एक मध्यम वर्गीय कश्मीरी ब्राह्मण परिवार में हुआ था. इनका वास्तविक नाम कुलभूषण पंडित था. उन्होंने अपनी पढ़ाई पूरी करने के बाद माहिम (मुम्बई) में पुलिस की नौकरी की. जिस थाने में राजकुमार पोस्टेड थे उस थाने में अक्सर ही फ़िल्म उद्योग से जुड़े लोगों का आना-जाना लगा रहता था. एक बार एक निर्माता कुछ जरूरी काम से उस थाने में आया और राजकुमार से बातचीत से प्रभावित होकर कहा कि अगर आप फ़िल्म अभिनेता बनने की ओर क़दम रखे तो उसमें काफ़ी सफल हो सकते है. उसके बाद, राज कुमार ने अपनी नौकरी छोड़ दी और फ़िल्मों में बतौर अभिनेता बनने की ओर अपना रुख़ कर लिया था. राजकुमार ने अपने अभिनय कैरियर की शुरुआत वर्ष 1952 में फिल्म ‘रंगीली’ से की थी. राज कुमार को ‘दिल एक मंदिर’ और ‘वक़्त’ के लिए फ़िल्मफ़ेयर का सर्वश्रेष्ठ सहायक अभिनेता के पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया था.
- भारतीय वायुसेना का गठन: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1932 में भारतीय वायुसेना का गठन ब्रिटिश साम्राज्य की एक सहायक वायु सेना के रूप में स्थापित किया गया था. उस वक्त इसका नाम था भारतीय वायु सेना प्रतिष्ठान (Indian Air Force Establishment) . वर्ष 1947 में जब देश स्वतंत्र हुआ तब इसका नाम ‘रॉयल इंडियन एयर फोर्स ‘ रखा गया था. प्रतिवर्ष आज ही के दिन ‘इंडियन एयरफोर्स’ की स्थापना दिवस मनाया जाता है.
- उपन्यासकार मुंशी प्रेमचंद: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1936 में उपन्यासकार मुंशी प्रेमचंद का निधन बनारस में हुआ था.
- डिजाइनर गौरी खान: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1970 में फिल्म निर्माता और डिजाइनर गौरी खान का जन्म नई दिल्ली के एक एक सैनिक परिवार में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम कर्नल रमेश चंद्र छिब्बर जो कि सेवानिवृत सैनिक हैं और उनकी माता का नाम सविता छिब्बर है. गौरी की प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा लोरेटो कॉन्वेंट स्कूल, दिल्ली से हुआ था. उन्होंने स्नातक की पढ़ाई लेडी श्रीराम कॉलेज, नई दिल्ली से की साथ ही गौरी ने नेशनल इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ फैशन टेक्नोलॉजी से फैशन डिजाइनिंग का कोर्स भी किया है. गौरी ने फिल्म अभिनेता शारुख खान से शादी की. एक इंटीरियर डिजाइनर और फिल्म निर्माता होने के अलावा गौरी खान को भारत के फैशन आइकन के रूप में भी देखा जाता है.
- स्वतंत्रता सेनानी जयप्रकाश नारायण: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1979 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी जयप्रकाश नारायण का निधन पटना में हुआ था.
- अभिनेता राजेश शर्मा: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1980 में अभिनेता राजेश शर्मा का जन्म लुधियाना (पंजाब) में हुआ था. राजेश ने वर्ष 2005 में बंगाली अभिनेत्री सुदीप्ता चक्रवर्ती से विवाह किया था परन्तु कुछ ही दिनों बाद दोनों अलग हो गए. राजेश ने अपने कैरियर की शुरुआत बंगाली फिल्मों में बतौर सहायक निर्देशक के तौर पर की थी. उन्होंने बंगाली फिल्मों के साथ-साथ हिंदी फिल्मों में भी काम किया है.

- Judge Badruddin Tyabji: – On this day in the year 1844, Badruddin Tyabji was born in a wealthy Muslim family in Mumbai. After completing his primary education, he went to England to study law and returned from there as a barrister. Tyabji started practising law in Mumbai itself. Let us tell you that, at the time when Tyabji started his law practice, there was neither an Indian judge nor a lawyer. Based on his talent and ability, Badruddin Tyabji soon started being counted among the top-class Indian lawyers. Later, when he was appointed as the judge of ‘The Mumbai High Court’, at that time Bal Gangadhar Tilak was facing trial for treason, it was Tyabji who did the courageous act of releasing Tilak on bail.
