1. पहला गवर्नर जनरल:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1833 में विलियम वेंटिक, भारत का पहला गवर्नर जनरल बनकर आया था.
2. फ़िल्म निर्देशक गोपालदास परमानंद सिप्पी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1914 में फ़िल्म निर्देशक गोपालदास परमानंद सिप्पी (जी.पी.सिप्पी) का जन्म हैदराबाद, सिंध में हुआ था. सिप्पी भारतीय हिन्दी फ़िल्मों के निर्माता और निर्देशक थे. उन्होंने सीता और गीता (1972), शान (1980), सागर (1985), राजू बन गया जेंटलमैन आदि उनकी अमर कृति है. सिप्पी को वर्ष  2000 में मुंबई के अंतरराष्ट्रीय फिल्म महोत्सव में लाइफटाइम अचीवमेंट पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया था.
3. भूतपूर्व केन्द्रीय कानून मंत्री राम जेठमलानी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1923 में भूतपूर्व केन्द्रीय कानून मंत्री राम जेठमलानी का जन्म ब्रिटिश भारत के शिकारपुर शहर में जो आजकल पाकिस्तान के सिन्ध प्रान्त में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम भूलचन्द गुरुमुखदास जेठमलानी और माता का नाम पार्वती भूलचन्द है. सिन्धी प्रथानुसार पुत्र के साथ पिता का नाम भी आता है अत: उनका पूरा नाम रामभूलचन्द जेठमलानी था. स्कूली शिक्षा के दौरान दो-दो क्लास एक साल में पास करने के कारण राम जेठमलानी ने 13 साल की उम्र में मैट्रिक का इम्तिहान पास कर लिया और 17 साल की उम्र में ही एल०एल०बी० की डिग्री हासिल कर ली थी.  6ठी व 7वीं लोक सभा में वे भारतीय जनता पार्टी से मुंबई से दो बार चुनाव जीते थे. अटल बिहारी बाजपेयी की सरकार में केन्द्रीय कानून एवं न्याय मंत्री व शहरी विकास मन्त्री भी रहे थे.
4. फ़िल्म निर्माता राजकुमार कोहली:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1930 फ़िल्म निर्माता राजकुमार कोहली क जन्म लाहौर, पाकिस्तान में हुआ था.
5. कविवर चन्द्र कुंवर बर्त्वाल:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1947 में कविवर चन्द्र कुंवर बर्त्वाल का निधन हुआ था.
6. हिंदी को भारत की आधिकारिक भाषा:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1949 में संविधान सभा ने हिंदी को भारत की आधिकारिक भाषा का दर्जा दिया था. हिन्दी को संविधान सभा ने 14 सितम्बर, 1949 को राजभाषा के रूप में अंगीकार किया, इसीलिए भारतवर्ष में प्रत्येक वर्ष 14 सितम्बर को हिन्दी दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है.
7. क्रिकेटर रॉबिन सिंह:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1963 क्रिकेटर रॉबिन सिंह का जन्म त्रिनिदाद राष्ट्र में हुआ था. रॉबिन सिंह ने वर्ष 1984 में त्रिनिदाद को छोड़ कर भारत आये और मद्रास विश्वविद्यालय से शिक्षा ग्रहण की थी. उन्होंने शिक्षा के दौरान ही इन्होंने कई क्रिकेट क्लबों में क्रिकेट मैच खेले और यहीं से ये एक अच्छे क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी बन गए. रॉबिन सिंह के अच्छे प्रदर्शन को देखते हुए वर्ष 1988 में उनका चयन तमिल नाडु की क्रिकेट टीम में हो गया था.
8. बांग्ला साहित्यकार ताराशंकर बंद्योपाध्याय:-आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1971 में ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार से सम्मानित बांग्ला साहित्यकार ताराशंकर बंद्योपाध्याय का निधन हुआ था.
9. संगीतकार रामकृष्ण शिंदे:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1985 में संगीतकार रामकृष्ण शिंदे का निधन हुआ था.
10. अभिनेत्री इशिता चौहान:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1999 में अभिनेत्री इशिता चौहान का जन्म पुणे, महाराष्ट्र में हुआ था. उनकी माता का नाम रूपलेखा चौहान है. इशिता की प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा मुम्बई से पूरी की. उन्होंने अपनी माँ से अभिनय करने का कला भी सीखी है. इशिता बाल कलाकार है और उन्होंने वर्ष 2007 में आई फिल्म आप का सुरूर और 2008 में आई फिल्म हाईजैक में एक बाल कलाकार का किरदार निभाया था.
11. संयुक्त बैठक को सम्बोधित:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2000 में प्रधानमंत्री अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी ने अमेरिकी सीनेट के दोनों सदनों की सुयंक्त बैठक को सम्बोधित किया था.
12. त्रिकोणीय सीरीज का कॉम्पैक कप:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2009 में भारत ने श्रीलंका को 46 रनों से हराकर त्रिकोणीय सीरीज का कॉम्पैक कप जीता था.

1. First Governor General: – On this day in the year 1833, William Ventick became the first Governor General of India.
2. Film director Gopaldas Parmanand Sippy: – On this day in the year 1914, film director Gopaldas Parmanand Sippy (G.P. Sippy) was born in Hyderabad, Sindh. Sippy was a producer and director of Indian Hindi films. His immortal works are Sita Aur Geeta (1972), Shaan (1980), Sagar (1985), Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman etc. Sippy was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Mumbai International Film Festival in 2000.
3. Former Union Law Minister Ram Jethmalani: – On this day in the year 1923, former Union Law Minister Ram Jethmalani was born in Shikarpur city of British India, which is currently in Sindh province of Pakistan. His father’s name is Bhulchand Gurumukhdas Jethmalani and his mother’s name is Parvati Bhulchand. According to Sindhi tradition, the father’s name also comes along with that of the son, hence his full name was Rambhulchand Jethmalani. During his school education, due to passing two classes in a year, Ram Jethmalani passed the matriculation examination at the age of 13 and obtained an LLB degree at the age of 17. He won elections twice from Mumbai in the 6th and 7th Lok Sabha from Bharatiya Janata Party. He was also the Union Law and Justice Minister and Urban Development Minister in the government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
4. Filmmaker Rajkumar Kohli: – On this day in the year 1930, filmmaker Rajkumar Kohli was born in Lahore, Pakistan.
5. Kavivar Chandra Kunwar Bartwal: – On this day in the year 1947, Kavivar Chandra Kunwar Bartwal died.
6. Hindi as the official language of India: – On this day in the year 1949, the Constituent Assembly gave the status of the official language of India to Hindi. Hindi was adopted as the official language by the Constituent Assembly on September 14, 1949, which is why every year September 14 is celebrated as Hindi Day in India.
7. Cricketer Robin Singh: – On this day in the year 1963, Cricketer Robin Singh was born in the nation of Trinidad. Robin Singh left Trinidad and came to India in 1984 and studied at Madras University. During his education, he played cricket matches in many cricket clubs and from here he became a good cricket player. Seeing the good performance of Robin Singh, he was selected for the Tamil Nadu cricket team in the year 1988.
8. Bengali litterateur Tarashankar Bandyopadhyay: – On this day in the year 1971, Bengali litterateur Tarashankar Bandyopadhyay, honoured with the Jnanpith Award, passed away.
9. Musician Ramakrishna Shinde: – Musician Ramakrishna Shinde died on this day in the year 1985.
10. Actress Ishita Chauhan: – On this day in the year 1999, actress Ishita Chauhan was born in Pune, Maharashtra. His mother’s name is Ruplekha Chauhan. Ishita completed her primary education in Mumbai. He has also learned the art of acting from his mother. Ishita is a child artiste and played the role of a child artiste in the 2007 film Aap Ka Surroor and the 2008 film Hijack.
11. Address to the joint meeting: – On this day in the year 2000, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee addressed the joint meeting of both houses of the US Senate.
