- दिल्ली का सुल्तान:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1320 में का दिल्ली सुलतान गाजी मलिक बना था. गयासुद्दीन तुग़लक़ दिल्ली सल्तनत में तुग़लक़ वंश का शासक था.भारत मे तुग़लक़ वंश का संस्थापक गयासुद्दीन तुग़लक़ को माना जाता है.
- साहित्यकार राधाकृष्ण:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1910 में साहित्यकार राधाकृष्ण का जन्म रांची, (झारखंड) में हुआ था. उन्होंने लेखन की शुरुआत कहानी से की, लेकिन आगे चलकर उपन्यास भी लिखे थे.
- संगीतकार भूपेन हज़ारिका:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1926 में संगीतकार भूपेन हज़ारिका का जन्म शदिया (असम) में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम नीलकांत हज़ारिका हैं और उनकी माँ का नाम शांतिप्रिया हज़ारिका है. भूपेन की प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा गुवाहाटी के धुबुरी की एक पाठशाला में, उसके बाद सेणाराम हाईस्कूल में,फिर गुवाहाटी के कॉटन कलेजियेट स्कूल में और अंत में छठी कक्षा में तेजपुर सरकारी उच्चत्तर माध्यमिक विद्यालय में हुई थी. भूपेन एक बहुमुखी प्रतिभा संपन्न कलाकार थे और उन्होंने करीब 10 वर्ष की उम्र में पहला गीत लिखा और गया. असमिया भाषा की फ़िल्मों से भी उनका नाता बचपन में ही जुड़ गया था. सुर सम्राट हज़ारिका ने क़रीब 70 साल तक अपनी आवाज़ से पूर्वोत्तर के साथ बॉलीवुड में भी छाये रहे. भूपेन के लिखे गए गंगा गीत काफ़ी प्रसिद्ध हुआ था. फ़िल्म ‘रूदाली’ के गीत ‘दिल हूं हूं करे’ के जरिए हज़ारिका हिंदी फ़िल्म जगत् में भी छा गए थे. भूपेन को वर्ष 1992 में सिनेमा जगत् के सर्वोच्च पुरस्कार दादा साहब फाल्के पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया था.
- पार्श्व गायिका आशा भोसले:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1933 में पार्श्व गायिका आशा भोसले का जन्म महाराष्ट्र के ‘सांगली’ जिले एक मराठी परिवार में हुआ था. इनके पिता दीनानाथ मंगेशकर जो गायक एवं नायक थे.उनके पिता बेहद छोटी उम्र से ही संगीत की शिक्षा देना शुरू कर दिया था. उनकी एक बड़ी बहन हैं-लता मंगेशकर-जोकि हिंदी सिनेमा स्वर कोकिला के नाम से जानी जातीं हैं वहीँ, फिल्म इंडस्ट्री में आशा ताई के नाम से भी जानी जातीं हैं. आशा भोंसले की पहली शादी 16 वर्ष की उम्र में उनसे बड़े गणपत राव भोंसले से हुई लेकिन, जल्द ही दोनों के संबंध विच्छेद हो गया था. उसके बाद आशा ने दूसरी शादी राहुल देव वर्मन’(पंचम) की थी. आशा भोंसले को अपने कैरियर की शुरुआत बी-सी ग्रेड की फिल्मों के लिए पार्श्व गायकी की. वर्ष 1948 में आशा ने फिल्म ‘चुनरिया’ का गीत ‘सावन आया को आवाज दी. आशा भोंसले जी के गायिकी के कैरियर में चार फिल्मे मिल का पत्थर, साबित हुई- नया दौड़ (1957), तीसरी मंजिल (1966), उमरॉव जान (1981) और रंगीला (1995) । नया दौर (1957) की पहली बड़ी सफल फिल्म थी. आशा नें हिंदी सिनेमा में छ दशक तक कई बेहतरीन गाने गाये, जब उनके जमाने के गायक रिटायरमेंट ले रहे थे, तब उन्होंने संगीत निर्देशक ए.आर रहमान के साथ मुझे रंग दे, तन्हा-तन्हा गानों से हिंदी सिनेमा में अपनी वापसी की थी. उन्होंने अबतक 20 भाषाओं में 12 हजार से ज्यादा गाने गा चुकी हैं.
- ‘भारत छोड़ो प्रस्ताव’ पारित किया:– आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1942 में भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस ने बम्बई (अब मुंबई) के गोवालिया टैंक मैदान पर बैठक की और ‘भारत छोड़ो प्रस्ताव’ पारित किया था. इस प्रस्ताव में यह घोषणा की गई थी कि भारत में ब्रिटिश शासन की तत्काल समाप्ति भारत में स्वतंत्रता व लोकतंत्र की स्थापना के लिए अत्यंत आवश्यक हो गई है.
- राजनीतिज्ञ फ़ीरोज़ गाँधी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1960 में पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री इंदिरा गांधी के पति फ़ीरोज गाँधी का निधन हुआ था.
- पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री शेख़ मोहम्मद अब्दुल्ला:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1982 में जम्मू और कश्मीर के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री शेख़ मोहम्मद अब्दुल्ला का निधन श्रीनगर में हुआ था.
- लंदन से अहमदाबाद पहुँचे:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1988 में व्यवसायी विजयपत सिंघानिया अपने माइक्रो लाइट सिंगल इंजन एयरक्राफ्ट से लंदन से अहमदाबाद पहुँचे थे.
- अभिनेत्री विभा आनंद:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1990 में अभिनेत्री विभा आनंद का जन्म देहरादून, उत्तराखंड में हुआ था. विभा ने अपने कैरियर की शुरुआत वर्ष 2010 में टीवी धारावाहिक बालिका वधु से की थी. इसके बाद उन्होंने एमटीवी के शो ये कैसी यारियां और महाभारत जैसे शोज में भी अभिनय किया. अभिनय के अलावा उन्होंने एक गीत पिया सावरे में भी काम किया. विभा ने अपने फ़िल्मी कैरियर की शुरुआत वर्ष 2011 में फ़िल्म इसी लाइफ में से पर्दे पर डेब्यू किया था.
- पाकिस्तान को लताड़ा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2000 में भारतीय प्रधानमंत्री अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र शांति शिखर सम्मेलन के दौरान हिन्दी में भाषण देते हुए पाकिस्तान को लताड़ा था.
- चार दिवसीय भारत यात्रा पर नई दिल्ली पहुँचे:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2003 में इस्रायल के प्रधानमंत्री एरियल शैरोन ने चार दिवसीय भारत यात्रा पर नई दिल्ली पहुँचे.
- मालेगांव में सीरियल ब्लास्ट:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2006 में महाराष्ट्र के मालेगांव में सीरियल ब्लास्ट में करीब 37 लोगों की मौत हुई थी और 100 से ज्यादा लोगों घायल हुए थे.

- Litterateur Radhakrishna: – On this day in the year 1910, litterateur Radhakrishna was born in Ranchi, (Jharkhand). He started writing with stories, but later also wrote novels.
- Musician Bhupen Hazarika: – On this day in the year 1926, musician Bhupen Hazarika was born in Shadiya (Assam). His father’s name is Neelkant Hazarika, and his mother’s name is Shantipriya Hazarika. Bhupen’s early education was at a school in Dhuburi, Guwahati, then at Senaram High School, then at Cotton Collegiate School, Guwahati, and finally at Tezpur Government Higher Secondary School in the sixth grade. Bhupen was a versatile artist, and he wrote and sang his first song at the age of 10. His relationship with Assamese language films was also connected to his childhood. Sur Samrat Hazarika dominated the Northeast as well as Bollywood with his voice for nearly 70 years. Ganga Geet written by Bhupen became very famous. Hazarika also became famous in the Hindi film industry through the song ‘Dil Hoon Hoon Kare’ from the film ‘Rudaali’. Bhupen was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest award in the cinema world, in the year 1992.
- Playback singer Asha Bhosle: – On this day in the year 1933, playback singer Asha Bhosle was born in a Marathi family in the ‘Sangli’ district of Maharashtra. His father Dinanath Mangeshkar was a singer and hero. His father started teaching music from a very young age. She has an elder sister – Lata Mangeshkar – who is known as the Nightingale of Hindi cinema and is also known as Asha Tai in the film industry. Asha Bhosle’s first marriage took place at the age of 16, to her elder Ganpat Rao Bhosle, but their relationship soon broke up. After that, Asha did second marriage to ‘Rahul Dev Varman’ (Pancham). Asha Bhosle started her career by singing playback for B-C grade films. In the year 1948, Asha gave voice to the song ‘Sawan Aaya’ from the film ‘Chunaria’. Four films proved to be milestones in Asha Bhosle’s singing career – Naya Daad (1957), Teesri Manzil (1966), Umrao Jaan (1981), and Rangeela (1995). Naya Daur (1957) was her first major success.
