1. जहाँगीर “सलीम”: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1559 में अकबर का पुत्र एवं मुग़ल वंश का शासक जहाँगीर “सलीम” का जन्म हुआ था.
2. दारा शिकोह को फाँसी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1659 में दारा शाहजहां के बड़े पुत्र दारा शिकोह की उनके ही छोटे भाई औरंगजेब ने हत्या करा दी थी.
3. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी कनाईलाल दत्त:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1659 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी कनाईलाल दत्त का जन्म चन्दननगर, हुगली जिला, बंगाल प्रेसिडेन्सी, ब्रिटिश भारत में हुआ था.उनका आरम्भिक नाम सर्वतोष था. उनके पिता चुन्नीलाल दत्त ब्रिटिश भारत सरकार की सेवा में मुंबई में नियुक्त थे. उनकी प्रारम्भिक शिक्षा मुम्बई से हुई थी जबकि उन्होंने हुगली कॉलेज से स्नातक की परीक्षा उत्तीर्ण की लेकिन, राजनीतिक गतिविधियों के कारण ब्रिटिश सरकार ने उनकी डिग्री रोक ली थी. अपने विद्यार्थी जीवन में कनाईलाल दत्त प्रोफ़ेसर चारुचंद्र राय के प्रभाव में आए और प्रोफ़ेसर राय ने चंद्रनगर में ‘युगांतर पार्टी’ की स्थापना की थी. वर्ष 1905 ई. के ‘बंगाल विभाजन’ विरोधी आन्दोलन में कनाईलाल ने आगे बढ़कर भाग लिया तथा वे इस आन्दोलन के नेता सुरेन्द्रनाथ बनर्जी के भी सम्पर्क में आये थे. वर्ष  1908 ई. में खुदीराम बोस और प्रफुल्ल चाकी ने मुजफ्फरपुर में किंग्सफ़ोर्ड पर आक्रमण किया. इसी सिलसिले में  2 मई, 1908 को कनाईलाल दत्त, अरविन्द घोष, बारीन्द्र कुमार आदि गिरफ्तार कर लिये गए बताते चलें कि, इस मुकदमें में नरेन गोस्वामी नाम का एक अभियुक्त सरकारी मुखबिर बन गया था. क्रान्तिकारियों ने इस मुखबिर से बदला लेने के लिए मुलाकात के समय चुपचाप बाहर से रिवाल्वर मंगाए और कनाईलाल दत्त और सत्येन बोस ने नरेन गोस्वामी को जेल के अंदर ही अपनी गोलियों का निशाना बनाने का निश्चय कर एक मुखबिर के माध्यम से नरेन गोस्वामी के पास संदेश भेजा कि मैं जेल के जीवन से ऊब गया हूँ और तुम्हारी ही तरह सरकारी गवाह बनना चाहता हँ. इस प्रसन्नता से वह सत्येन से मिलने जेल के अस्पताल जा पहुँचा. से देखते ही पहले सत्येन ने और फिर कनाईलाल दत्त ने उसे अपनी गोलियों से वहीं ढेर कर दिया जिसके दोनों क्रांतिकारियों को मौत की सजा सुनाई गई थी.
4. राजनीतिज्ञ सरदार हुकम सिंह:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1895 में राजनीतिज्ञ और पूर्व लोकसभा अध्यक्ष सरदार हुकम सिंह का जन्म सहिवाल जिले (वर्तमान में पकिस्तान में) के मोन्टगोमरी में हुआ था. उनके पिता शाम सिंह एक व्यापारी थे. उन्होंने अपनी मैट्रिक परीक्षा गवर्नमेंट हाई स्कूल, मोन्टगोमरी से उत्तीर्ण की और से स्नातक खालसा कॉलेज, अमृतसर से 1917 में किया साथ ही उन्होंने एलएल.बी. परीक्षा लॉ कालेज, लाहौर से 1921 में पूर्ण की. जिसके बाद सरदार हुकम सिंह वकालत का कार्य करने लगे. हुकम सिंह ने राजनीति में प्रवेश शिरोमणि अकाली दल के माध्यम से किया और वे तीन सालों तक इसके अध्यक्ष रहे. हुकम सिंह को 30 अप्रैल 1948 को भारत की संविधान सभा के एक सदस्य के रूप में शिरोमणि अकाली दल से निर्वाचित किया गया था. 20 मार्च 1956 को लोकसभा के उपाध्यक्ष के पद पर सर्वसम्मति से चुने जाने तक वे इसके पैनल में बने रहे और इस निर्णय के समय वे विरोधी दल के सदस्य थे. प्रथम लोकसभा में हुकम सिंह को अकाली दल के उम्मीदवार के रूप में पीईपीएसयू प्रान्त के कपूरथला भटिंडा संसदीय क्षेत्र से निर्वाचित किये गए थे. सरदार हुकम सिंह को वर्ष 1967 में राजस्थान का राज्यपाल नियुक्त किया गया था.
5. साहित्यकार भगवती चरण वर्मा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1903 में साहित्यकार भगवती चरण वर्मा का जन्म उन्नाव ज़िले, उत्तर प्रदेश के शफीपुर गाँव में हुआ था. भगवती चरण ने इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय से बी.ए., एल.एल.बी. की परीक्षा उत्तीर्ण कर लेखन तथा पत्रकारिता के क्षेत्र में ही प्रमुख रूप से कार्य किया. इसके बीच-बीच में इनके फ़िल्म तथा आकाशवाणी से भी सम्बद्ध रहे. कवि के रूप में भगवतीचरण वर्मा के रेडियो रूपक ‘महाकाल’, ‘कर्ण’ और ‘द्रोपदी’- जो 1956 ई. में ‘त्रिपथगा’ के नाम से एक संकलन के आकार में प्रकाशित हुए हैं.
6. गीतकार शैलेन्द्र:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1923 में गीतकार शैलेन्द्र का जन्म रावलपिंडी (पाकिस्तान) में हुआ था. शैलेन्द्र जी के पिता फ़ौज में थे और बिहार के रहने वाले थे. पिता के रिटायर होने पर मथुरा में रहे और वहीं शिक्षा भी पायी थी. वर्ष 1947 में राज कपूर एक कवि सम्मेलन में शैलेन्द्र जी को पढ़ते देखकर प्रभावित हुए और फिल्म ‘आग’ में लिखने के लिए कहा किन्तु शैलेन्द्र जी को फ़िल्मी लोगों से घृणा थी. वर्ष 1948 में शादी के बाद कम आमदनी से घर चलाना मुश्किल हो गया जिसके कारण वो राजकपूर से मिलने गये.  उन दिनों राजकपूर बरसात फ़िल्म की तैयारी में जुटे थे. उधर तय वक्त पर शैलेन्द्र राजकपूर से मिलने घर से निकले तो घनघोर बारिश होने लगी लेकिन, क़दम बढ़ाते और भीगते हुये  शैलेन्द्र के होंठों पर ‘बरसात में तुम से मिले हम सनम’ गीत ने अनायास ही जन्म ले लिया. अपने दस गीत सौंपने से पहले शैलेन्द्र ने इस नए गीत को राजकपूर को सुनाया। जिसे सुनकर राजकपूर सीने से लगा लिया साथ ही दस गीतों की पारिश्रमिक पचास हज़ार रुपये दिये. उसके बाद शैलेन्द्र ने पीछे मुड़कर नहीं देखा.
7. द इंडिपेंडेंस ऑफ़ इंडिया लीग की स्थापना:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1928 में द इंडिपेंडेंस ऑफ़ इंडिया लीग की स्थापना भारत में की गई थी. इसके महासचिव पंडित नेहरू बने. इस लीग का मूल उद्देश्य भारत को ब्रिटिश साम्राज्य से पूर्णतः अलग करना था.
8. रिज़र्व बैंक के पहले गवर्नर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1952 में रिज़र्व बैंक के पहले गवर्नर ओसबोर्न स्मिथ का निधन हुआ था.
9. साहित्यकार जी.पी. श्रीवास्तव:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1976 में साहित्यकार जी.पी. श्रीवास्तव का निधन हुआ था.
10. अभिनेत्री चित्रंगदा सिंह:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1976 में अभिनेत्री चित्रंगदा सिंह का जन्म जोधपुर राजस्थान में हुआ था. उनके पिता कर्नल निरंजन सिंह चहल एक भारतीय सेना अधिकारी हैं. चित्रंगदा सिंह की प्रारम्भिक पढ़ाई सोफिया गर्ल्स स्कूल में मेरठ में हुई थी. उसके बाद डी इरविन कॉलेज, नई दिल्ली से गृह विज्ञान (भोजन और पोषण) में स्नातक की पढ़ाई पूरी की साथ ही कथक का औपचारिक प्रशिक्षण भी प्राप्त किया है. पढ़ाई खत्म होने के बाद चित्रागंदा ने मॉडलिंग की दुनिया में कदम रखा, उन्होंने अपने मॉडलिंग कैरियर के दौरान कई ब्रांड्स को एंडोर्स भी किया. चित्रंगदा सिंह ने अपने फिल्मी कैरियर की शुरुआत वर्ष 2003 में फिल्म हज़ारों ख्वाइशें से की थी. वर्ष 2015 में चित्रंगदा सिंह ने बड़े परदे पर फिल्म गब्बर इज बैक में आइटम सांग आओ राजा में नजर आयीं .इस फिल्म ने बॉक्स-ऑफिस पर काफी अच्छा बिजनस किया.
11. अभिनेत्री अनु चौधरी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1979 में अभिनेत्री अनु चौधरी का जन्म भुवनेश्वर में उड़िया फिल्म संपादक रबी चौधरी और सौदामिनी चौधरी के घर हुआ था. अनु ने रमा देवी महिला कॉलेज , भुवनेश्वर से गृह विज्ञान में स्नातक की उपाधि प्राप्त की है. अनु ने अपने फिल्मी कैरियर की शुरुआत उड़िया फिल्म में बाल कलाकार के रूप में की थी. मुख्य मुख्य अभिनेत्री के रूप में उनकी पहली फिल्म माँ गोजबयानी थी जो वर्ष 1998 में एक बड़ी हिट फिल्म थी.
12. उद्योगपति कृष्ण कुमार बिड़ला:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2008 में उद्योगपति कृष्ण कुमार बिड़ला का निधन कोलकाता में हुआ था.
13. चंद्रयान प्रथम औपचारिक रूप से समाप्त:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2009 में भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन (इसरो) ने चंद्रयान प्रथम को औपचारिक रूप से समाप्त कर दिया था.
14. प्रथम भारतीय भाषा विकिपीडिया:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2011 में हिंदी विकिपीडिया एक लाख का आंकड़ा पार करने वाला प्रथम भारतीय भाषा विकिपीडिया संस्करण बना था.
15. इतिहासकार बिपिन चन्द्र:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2011 में इतिहासकार बिपिन चन्द्र का निधन हुआ था.

1. Jahangir “Salim”: – On this day in the year 1559, Jahangir “Salim”, the son of Akbar and ruler of the Mughal dynasty, was born.
2. Hanging of Dara Shikoh: – On this day in the year 1659, Dara Shikoh, the elder son of Dara Shahjahan was murdered by his own younger brother Aurangzeb.
3. Freedom Fighter Kanailal Dutt:- On this day in the year 1659, freedom fighter Kanailal Dutt was born in Chandannagar, Hooghly District, Bengal Presidency, British India. His initial name was Sarvatosh. His father Chunnilal Dutt was employed in Mumbai in the service of the British Indian government. He had his early education in Mumbai, and he passed his graduation from Hooghly College, but his degree was withheld by the British government due to his political activities. In his student life, Kanailal Dutt came under the influence of Professor Charuchandra Rai and Professor Rai established the ‘Yugantar Party’ in Chandranagar. In the year 1905 AD, Kanailal took an active part in the movement against the ‘Partition of Bengal’ and he also came in contact with Surendranath Banerjee, the leader of this movement. In the year 1908, Khudiram Bose and Prafulla Chaki attacked Kingsford in Muzaffarpur. In this connection, on May 2, 1908, Kanailal Dutt, Arvind Ghosh, Barindra Kumar, etc. were arrested. Let us inform you that, in this case, an accused named Naren Goswami had become a government informer. To take revenge on this informer, the revolutionaries silently asked for revolvers from outside during the meeting and Kanailal Dutt and Satyen Bose decided to target Naren Goswami with their bullets inside the jail and sent a message to Naren Goswami through an informer. I am fed up with the jail life and want to become an approver like you. With this happiness, he reached the jail hospital to meet Satyen. On seeing him first, Satyen and then Kanailal Dutt killed him there with his bullets, for which both the revolutionaries were sentenced to death.
4. Politician Sardar Hukam Singh:- On this day in the year 1895, politician and former Lok Sabha Speaker Sardar Hukam Singh was born in Montgomery of Sahiwal district (presently in Pakistan). His father Sham Singh was a businessman. He passed his matriculation examination from Government High School, Montgomery, and graduated from Khalsa College, Amritsar in 1917 with LL.B. Examination completed in 1921 from Law College, Lahore. After this Sardar Hukam Singh started doing the work of advocacy. Hukam Singh entered politics through the Shiromani Akali Dal and was its president for three years. Hukam Singh was elected as a member of the Constituent Assembly of India on 30 April 1948 from the Shiromani Akali Dal. He remained on its panel until he was unanimously elected to the post of Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha on 20 March 1956, a member of the opposition party at the time of this decision. In the first Lok Sabha, Hukam Singh was elected as the candidate of Akali Dal from Kapurthala Bhatinda parliamentary constituency of PEPSU province. Sardar Hukam Singh was appointed the Governor of Rajasthan in the year 1967.
5. Writer Bhagwati Charan Verma:- On this day in the year 1903, writer Bhagwati Charan Verma was born in Shafipur village of Unnao district, Uttar Pradesh. Bhagwati Charan completed her B.A. and LL.B. from the University of Allahabad. After passing the examination, he worked mainly in the field of writing and journalism. In between, he was also associated with his films and All India Radio. As a poet, Bhagwaticharan Verma’s radio metaphors ‘Mahakal’, ‘Karna’, and ‘Draupadi’ – were published in 1956 AD in the form of a compilation named ‘Tripathaga’.
6. Lyricist Shailendra:- On this day in the year 1923, lyricist Shailendra was born in Rawalpindi (Pakistan). Shailendra Ji’s father was in the army and was a resident of Bihar. After his father’s retirement, he lived in Mathura and got his education there. In the year 1947, Raj Kapoor was impressed by seeing Shailendra ji reading at a poet’s conference and asked him to write in the film ‘Aag’ but Shailendra ji hated film people. After marriage in the year 1948, it became difficult to run a house with a low income, due to which he went to meet Raj Kapoor. In those days, Raj Kapoor was busy preparing for the film Barsaat. On the other hand, when Shailendra came out of the house to meet Raj Kapoor, it started raining heavily, but while stepping and getting wet, the song ‘Barsaat Mein Tum Se Miley Hum Sanam’ spontaneously took birth on Shailendra’s lips. Shailendra narrated this new song to Raj Kapoor before handing over his ten songs. After listening to this Raj Kapoor hugged his chest and also gave him fifty thousand rupees as remuneration for ten songs. After that Shailendra did not look back.

10. Actress Chitrangada Singh:- On this day in the year 1976, actress Chitrangada Singh was born in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. His father Colonel Niranjan Singh Chahal is an Indian Army officer. Chitrangada Singh did her early education at Sophia Girls School in Meerut. Thereafter, she completed her graduation in Home Science (Food and Nutrition) from D. Irwin College, New Delhi, and also received formal training in Kathak. After completing her studies, Chitraganda stepped into the world of modeling, she also endorsed many brands during her modeling career. Chitrangada Singh started her film career in the year 2003 with the film Hazaaron Khwaishein. In the year 2015, Chitrangada Singh appeared on the big screen in the item song Aao Raja in the film Gabbar is Back. The film did good business at the box office.
11. Actress Anu Chowdhary:- On this day in the year 1979, actress Anu Chowdhary was born in Bhubaneswar to Oriya film editor Rabi Chowdhary and Saudamini Chowdhary. Anu has completed her graduation in Home Science from Rama Devi College for Women, Bhubaneswar. Anu started her film career as a child artist in Oriya film. Her first movie as main lead actress was Maa Gojbayani which was a big hit movie in the year 1998.
