1. सिविल और अपराधिक अदालत:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1772 में ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनी ने कई जिलों में अलग सिविल और अपराधिक अदालत के लिए फैसला लिया था.
2. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी अरविंद घोष:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1877 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी अरविंद घोष का जन्म बंगाल के कलकत्ता, वर्तमान कोलकाता के एक सम्पन्न परिवार में हुआ था. उनके पिता का नाम डॉक्टर कृष्ण धन घोष और माता का नाम स्वर्णलता देवी था. अरबिंदो घोष की शिक्षा दार्जिलिंग में ईसाई कॉन्वेंट स्कूल में प्रारम्भ हुई और लड़कपन में ही उन्हें आगे की स्कूली शिक्षा के लिए इंग्लैण्ड भेज दिया गया. इंग्लैण्ड में अरबिंदो घोष की भेंट बड़ौदा नरेश से हुई. अरविंद को भारतीय एवं यूरोपीय दर्शन और संस्कृति का अच्छा ज्ञान था. यही कारण है कि उन्होंने इन दोनों के समन्वय की दिशा में उल्लेखनीय प्रयास किया. कुछ लोग उन्हें भारत की ऋषि परम्परा (संत परम्परा) की नवीन कड़ी मानते हैं. बड़ौदा नरेश अरबिंदो की योग्यता देखकर बहुत प्रभावित हुए और उन्होंने अरबिंदो को अपना प्राइवेट सेक्रेटरी नियुक्त कर लिया. वर्ष 1892 में भारत लौटने पर उन्होंने बड़ौदा, वर्तमान वडोदरा और कोलकाता में विभिन्न प्रशासनिक व प्राध्यापकीय पदों पर कार्य किया. अरविंद आध्यात्मिक अनुभूतियों के स्रोत के रूप में वेदान्त की विभिन्न शाखाओं को मानते हैं. अरविंद शंकर की भांति यह स्वीकार करते हैं कि ब्रह्म परम सत्ता है.
3. उस्ताद अमीर खान:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1912 में उस्ताद अमीर खान का जन्म इंदौर में एक संगीत परिवार में हुआ था. इनके पिता शाहमीर ख़ान भिंडी बाज़ार घराने के सारंगी वादक थे, जो इंदौर के होलकर राजघराने में बजाया करते थे वहीं , अमीर खान के दादा चंगे ख़ान तो बहादुर शाह ज़फ़र के दरबार में गायक थे. इंदौर घराने के उस्ताद अमीर ख़ाँ साहब, जिन्हें ख़याल का अज़ीम-ओ-शान शहंशाह माना जाता है. आवाज़ की अलग-अलग किस्में होती हैं, और इन अलग-अलग किस्मों से ही ख़याल गायकियां बनीं, लेकिन उस्ताद अमीर ख़ाँ साहब की आवाज़ की कोई किस्म ही न थी। वह तो सिर्फ एक अधूरी भाव से बनी. उन्होंने फ़िल्म संगीत जैसे ‘बैजू बावरा’, ‘शबाब’, ‘झनक झनक पायल बाजे’, ‘रागिनी’, और ‘गूंज उठी शहनाई’ जैसी फ़िल्मों के लिए गाने गए थे.
4. उर्दू साहित्यकार इस्मत चुगताई:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1915 में उर्दू साहित्यकार इस्मत चुगताई का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के बदायूं में हुआ था. उर्दू साहित्य की दुनिया में ‘इस्मत आपा’ के नाम से विख्यात थीं.
5. साहित्यकार हंस कुमार तिवारी:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1918 में साहित्यकार हंस कुमार तिवारी का जन्म मानभूम में ( जो पहले बिहार में था, अब बंगाल में है) हुआ था. इनकी प्राथमिक शिक्षा बंगाल में ही बंगला भाषा में हुई थी.रोजी-रोटी के लिए सतत संघर्ष करते हुए हंस कुमार तिवारी ने अपने कर्मजीवन का प्रारम्भ स्वतंत्र लेखन तथा पत्रकारिता से किया था. हंस की साहित्यिक साधना की प्रथम उपलब्धि ‘कला’ नामक पुस्तक का प्रकाशन वर्ष 1938 ई. में हुआ था.
6. गीतकार इंदीवर:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1924 में गीतकार इंदीवर का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के झाँसी जनपद मुख्यालय से बीस किलोमीटर पूर्व की ओर स्‍थित ‘बरूवा सागर’ क़स्‍बे में ‘कलार’ जाति के एक निर्धन परिवार में हुआ था. इनका वास्तविक  नाम श्याम लाल बाबू राय था. इनके पिता हरलाल राय था जबकि, इंदीवर की माँ का निधन हो गया था. फक्‍कड़ बाबा के सम्‍पर्क में श्‍यामलाल (इन्दीवर) को गीत लिखने व गाने की रुचि जागृत हुई थी. इन्दीवर के बाल सखा ‘रामसेवक रिछारिया’ ने उन्‍हें राष्‍ट्रीय विचारधारा और सुधार की दृष्‍टि से साहित्य की ओर मोड़ा था. देश के ‘स्‍वतंत्रता संग्राम आन्‍दोलन’ में सक्रिय भाग लेते हुए इन्होंने श्‍यामलाल बाबू ‘आज़ाद’ नाम से कई देश भक्‍ति के गीत भी अपने प्रारम्भिक दिनों में लिखे थे. वर्ष 1946 में प्रदर्शित फिल्म ‘डबल फ़ेस’ में आपके लिखे गीत पहली बार लिए गए, किन्‍तु फिल्म ज़्यादा सफल नहीं हो सकी और निराश होकर वापस गांव चले आए. वर्ष 1963 में बाबू भाई मिस्त्री की संगीतमय फ़िल्म ‘पारसमणि’ की सफलता के बाद इन्दीवर शोहरत की बुंलदियों पर जा पहुंचे. वर्ष 1975 में प्रदर्शित फ़िल्म ‘अमानुष’ के लिये इन्दीवर को सर्वश्रेष्ठ गीतकार का ‘फ़िल्म फेयर पुरस्कार’ दिया गया था.
7. साहित्यकार तथा कवि रामदरश मिश्र:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1924 में साहित्यकार तथा कवि रामदरश मिश्र का जन्म गोरखपुर जिले के कछार अंचल के गाँव डुमरी में हुआ था.
8. शायर फजल ताबिश:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1933 में शायर फजल ताबिश का जन्म भोपाल में हुआ था.
9. कार्टूनिस्ट प्राण कुमार शर्मा:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1938 में चाचा चौधरी’ कार्टून चरित्र बनाने वाले प्रसिद्ध कार्टूनिस्ट प्राण कुमार शर्मा का जन्म कसूर नामक कस्बे में हुआ था, जो अब पाकिस्तान में है.
10. क्रांतिकारी महादेव देसाई:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1942 में क्रांतिकारी महादेव देसाई का निधन हुआ था.
11. अभिनेत्री राखी गुलज़ार:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1947 में अभिनेत्री राखी गुलज़ार का जन्म एक बंगाली परिवार में पश्चिम बंगाल के नदिया ज़िले में राणाघाट स्थान पर हुआ था. उनके बचपन का नाम राखी मजूमदार था, जिसको उन्होंने शादी के बाद बदलकर राखी गुलज़ार कर लिया था. बताते चलें कि, राखी के जन्म के कुछ देर पहले ही भारत में आजादी की घोषणा हुई थी. राखी ने अपनी प्रारम्भिक स्कूली शिक्षा राणाघाट के गर्ल्स स्कूल से की प्राप्त की थी. राखी ने अपने फिल्मी कैरियर की शुरुआत बंगाली फ़िल्म ‘वधु वरण’ से की थी. उन्होंने हिंदी फिल्मों की शुरुआत ‘रेशमा और शेरा’ से की थी. राखी ने अपने फिल्मी कैरियर में 95 से ज्यादा फ़िल्में कीं थी. राखी गुलज़ार को तीन बार ‘फ़िल्मफेयर अवॉर्ड’ मिल चुका है.
12. स्वतंत्रता दिवस:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1947 में भारत को अंग्रेज़ों से स्वतंत्रता प्राप्त हुई थी.
13. पहले प्रधानमंत्री के रूप में शपथ ली:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1947 में पंडित जवाहरलाल नेहरू ने आजाद भारत के पहले प्रधानमंत्री के रूप में शपथ ली थी.
14. रक्षा वीरता पुरस्कार:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1947 में रक्षा वीरता पुरस्कार-परमवीर चक्र, महावीर चक्र और वीर चक्र में स्थापित किया गया.
15. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी सरदार अजीत सिंह:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1947 में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी सरदार अजीत सिंह का निधन हुआ था.
16. 8.6 के तीव्रता वाले भूकम्प:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1950 में भारत में 8.6 के तीव्रता वाले भूकम्प के कारण 20 से 30 हजार लोग मारे गये थे.
17. पाँचवे मुख्यमंत्री डॉ. रमेश पोखरियाल “निशंक”: – आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1959 में उत्तराखण्ड राज्य के पाँचवे मुख्यमंत्री डॉ. रमेश पोखरियाल “निशंक” का जन्म पिनानी ग्राम, तहसील चौबट़टाखाल, ज़िला पौड़ी गढ़वाल तत्कालीन उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ था.

19. क्रिकेटर विजय भारद्वाज:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1975 में क्रिकेटर विजय भारद्वाज का जन्म बेंगलुरु में हुआ था.
20. महिला एथलीट के.एम. बीनामोल:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1975 में महिला एथलीट के.एम. बीनामोल का जन्म इडुक्की में हुआ था.
21. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी शहीद भगत सिंह की प्रतिमा का अनावरण:- आज ही के दिन वर्ष 2008 में राष्ट्रपति प्रतिभा पाटिल ने स्वतन्त्रता दिवस के मौके पर संसद भवन परिसर में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी शहीद भगत सिंह की प्रतिमा का अनावरण किया था.

1. Civil and Criminal Courts:- On this day in the year 1772, the East India Company decided to have separate civil and criminal courts in several districts.
2. Freedom Fighter Arvind Ghosh:- On this day in the year 1877, freedom fighter Arvind Ghosh was born into a prosperous family in Calcutta, present-day Kolkata, Bengal. His father’s name was Dr. Krishna Dhan Ghosh and his mother’s name was Swarnalata Devi. Aurobindo Ghosh’s education started at the Christian Convent School in Darjeeling and he was sent to England for further schooling as a boy. In England, Aurobindo Ghosh met the King of Baroda. Arvind had a good knowledge of Indian and European philosophy and culture. This is the reason why he made a remarkable effort towards the coordination of these two. Some people consider him as a new link in India’s sage tradition (saint tradition). The King of Baroda was very impressed by Aurobindo’s ability and he appointed Aurobindo as his private secretary. On returning to India in the year 1892, he worked in various administrative and professorial posts in Baroda, present Vadodara, and Kolkata. Aurobindo considers various branches of Vedanta as the source of spiritual realizations. Arvind accepts like Shankar that Brahman is the ultimate power.
3. Ustad Amir Khan:- On this day in the year 1912, Ustad Amir Khan was born in a musical family in Indore. His father Shahmir Khan was a Sarangi player of the Bhendi Bazar Gharana, who used to play in the Holkar Rajgharana of Indore, while Amir Khan’s grandfather Changey Khan was a singer in the court of Bahadur Shah Zafar. Ustad Amir Khan Sahab of the Indore Gharana is considered the greatest emperor of Khayal. There are different varieties of voice, and Khayal singers were made out of these different varieties, but Ustad Amir Khan Sahab had no variety in his voice. It was just made of an incomplete feeling. He sang for films like ‘Baiju Bawra’, ‘Shabab’, ‘Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje’, ‘Ragini’, and ‘Goonj Uthi Shehnai’.
4. Urdu litterateur Ismat Chughtai:- On this day in the year 1915, Urdu litterateur Ismat Chughtai was born in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh. She was famous in the world of Urdu literature by the name of ‘Ismat Aapa’.
5. Writer Hans Kumar Tiwari:- On this day in the year 1918, writer Hans Kumar Tiwari was born in Manbhum (which was earlier in Bihar, now in Bengal). His primary education was done in Bengal only in the Bengali language. Hans Kumar Tiwari started his career with independent writing and journalism while continuously struggling for livelihood. The first achievement of Hans’s literary practice was the publication of the book ‘Kala’ in the year 1938 AD.

Lyricist Indivar:- On this day in the year 1924, lyricist Indivar was born in a poor family of ‘The Kalar caste in ‘Baruva Sagar town, twenty kilometers east of Jhansi district headquarters of Uttar Pradesh. His real name was Shyam Lal Babu Rai. His father was Harlal Rai while Indivar’s mother had passed away. In contact with Fakkad Baba, Shyamlal (Indivar) got interested in writing and singing songs. Indivar’s child friend ‘Ramsevak Richhariya’ had turned him towards literature from the point of view of national ideology and reform. Taking an active part in the country’s ‘Independence Struggle Movement’, he wrote many patriotic songs under the name Shyanamlal Babu ‘Azad’ in his early days. The songs written by you were used for the first time in the film ‘Double Face’, released in the year 1946, but the film could not very successful and disappointed, went back to the village. In the year 1963, after the success of Babu Bhai Mistry’s musical film ‘Parasmani’, Indivar rose to fame. Indeevar was given the Filmfare Award for Best Lyricist for the film ‘Amanush’ released in the year 1975.
