एक ऐसे ‘राष्ट्राध्यक्ष’ के बारे में बात कर रहें जिनका जन्म भारत में हुआ लेकिन, भारत विभाजन के बाद कराची (पकिस्तान) के निवासी हुए साथ ही पकिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति व सेना प्रमुख भी बने तथा पेशावर(पाकिस्तान) हाई कोर्ट ने फांसी की सजा भी सुनाई थी.
परवेज का जन्म 11 अगस्त 1943 को दरियागंज (नई दिल्ली) में हुआ था. वर्ष 1947 में उनके परिवार ने पाकिस्तान जाने का फैसला किया और विभाजन के महज कुछ दिन पहले ही उनका पूरा परिवार पाकिस्तान पहुंचा. परवेज के पिता सईद ने नए पाकिस्तान सरकार के लिए काम करना शुरू किया. कुछ वर्षों बाद इनके पिता का तबादला तुर्की हुआ. जहाँ परवेज ने तुर्की भाषा सीखी. ज्ञात है कि युवा काल में परवेज अच्छे खिलाड़ी भी थे. वर्ष 1957 में उनका परिवार पकिस्तान लौट आया. परवेज की स्कूली शिक्षा कराची के सेंट पैट्रिक स्कूल में हुई और कॉलेज की पढ़ाई लहौर के फॉरमैन क्रिश्चियन कॉलेज में हुई.
बतातें चलें कि, वर्ष 1999 के अक्टूबर के महीने में पकिस्तान के पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री ने परवेज मुशर्रफ को को उनके पद से हटाने की कोशिश की तो मुशर्रफ़ के प्रति वफ़ादार जनरलों ने शरीफ़ का ही तख्ता पलट करके सरकार पर कब्जा कर लिया. वर्ष 2000 में पाकिस्तान के सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने आदेश दिया कि पाकिस्तान में चुनाव कराए जाएं तब मुशर्रफ़ ने जून 2001 में तत्कालीन राष्ट्रपति रफीक़ तरार को हटा कर खुद राष्ट्रपति बन गए. परवेज ने राष्ट्रपति बने रहने के लिए एक जनमत-संग्रह कराया जिसका अधिकतर राजनैतिक दलों ने बहिष्कार किया. अंतत: वर्ष 2002 के अक्टूबर महीने में चुनाव हुए और जिसमें मुशर्रफ़ का समर्थन करने वाली मुत्ताहिदा मजलिस-ए-अमाल पार्टी को बहुमत मिला. मुशर्रफ़ ने पाकिस्तान के संविधान में कई परिवर्तन कराए जिनसे 1999 के तख्ता-पलट और मुशर्रफ़ के अन्य कई आदेशों को वैधानिक सम्मति मिल गई.
ज्ञात है कि भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच हुए कारगिल युद्ध ( वर्ष 1999 माह, अप्रैल से जून) के दौरान मुशर्रफ़ ही पाकिस्तान के सेना-प्रमुख थे.
वर्ष 2001 में अमेरिका पर आतंकवादी हमला (09/11) था. उसके बाद अमेरिका ने अफ़गानिस्तान और ईराक पर युद्ध शुरु किया तो मुशर्रफ़ ने अमेरिका का पूरा समर्थन किया था.
वर्ष 2007 में मुशर्रफ ने पाकिस्तान में आपातकाल लागू कर दिया था. उसी वर्ष दिसम्बर में पूर्व प्रधानमन्त्री बेनजीर भुट्टो की हत्या रावलपिंडी(पकिस्तान) में एक चुनावी रैली में हुई थी उस दौरान भी मुशर्रफ़ पर आरोप लगे थे कि उन्होंने जरूरी सुरक्षा मुहैया नहीं कराया था.
वर्ष 2001 में भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच दो दिवसीय आगरा शिखर वार्ता हुई थी. इस वार्ता के बाद दोनों देशों के रिश्तों पर कोई ख़ास असर नहीं पड़ा था. बताते चलें कि, इस बैठक में, परमाणु शस्त्रागार, और कश्मीर विवाद, और सीमा पार आतंकवाद से जुड़े अन्य मुद्दों को भारी रूप से कम करने का प्रस्ताव रखा गया था.
वर्ष 2007 में मुशर्रफ ने शीर्ष न्यायाधीश इफ्तिखार मोहम्मद चौधरी को जबरन पदमुक्त कर दिया था. जिसके बाद पाकिस्तान में वकीलों ने मुशर्रफ के खिलाफ आंदोलन कर दिया था. मुशर्रफ का शासन समाप्त होने के बाद उन्होंने कुछ समय के लिए देश छोड़ दिया। किंतु वापस आते ही उन पर कई मुकद्दमे चलाए गए और इन्हें गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया.
ज्ञात है कि, मुशर्रफ मार्च 2016 से दुबई में रह रहे थे.पिछले साल 10 जून को सांस लेने में तकलीफ की शिकायत के बाद मुशर्रफ को संयुक्त अरब अमीरात के अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया था. पिछले साल जून में वेंटिलेटर पर रखा गया था. स्थानीय मीडिया के अनुसार ,रविवार को पाकिस्तान के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति जनरल परवेज मुशर्रफ का निधन हो गया. उनका इलाज संयुक्त अरब अमीरात के अस्पताल में चल रहा था. पाकिस्तानी मीडिया के अनुसार “अमाइलॉइडोसिस” बीमारी से जूझ रहे थे मुशर्रफ.

Parvez organized a referendum to remain, President, which was boycotted by most of the political parties. Finally, elections were held in the month of October 2002 and in which the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal party supporting Musharraf got a majority. Musharraf made many changes in the constitution of Pakistan, which gave legal sanction to the 1999 coup and many other orders of Musharraf.
It is known that Musharraf was the army chief of Pakistan during the Kargil war between India and Pakistan ( the year 1999, April to June).
In the year 2001, there was a terrorist attack on America (09/11). After that America started the war on Afghanistan and Iraq, then Musharraf fully supported America.
In the year 2007, Musharraf imposed an emergency in Pakistan. In December of the same year, former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was assassinated at an election rally in Rawalpindi (Pakistan), during which Musharraf was also accused of not providing the necessary security.
In the year 2001, a two-day Agra summit was held between India and Pakistan. After this talk, there was no significant impact on the relations between the two countries.
