अंतर्राष्ट्रीय आपदा न्यूनीकरण दिवस (International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction) हर वर्ष 13 अक्टूबर को मनाया जाता है. यह दिन संयुक्त राष्ट्र द्वारा आपदा जोखिम को कम करने और प्राकृतिक एवं मानवजनित आपदाओं से होने वाले नुकसान को रोकने या कम करने के उद्देश्य से मनाया जाता है.
अंतर्राष्ट्रीय आपदा न्यूनीकरण दिवस का मुख्य उद्देश्य है जागरूकता फैलाना, आपदाओं से बचाव के उपायों को बढ़ावा देना, और सरकारों, संगठनों, और आम जनता को आपदा जोखिम न्यूनीकरण (Disaster Risk Reduction – DRR) के प्रति सचेत करना.

अतर्राष्ट्रीय आपदा न्यूनीकरण दिवस पहली बार वर्ष 1989 में संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा द्वारा घोषित किया गया था. यह दिवस संयुक्त राष्ट्र की “सेन्डाई फ्रेमवर्क फॉर डिजास्टर रिस्क रिडक्शन” (वर्ष 2015- 30) के लक्ष्यों को बढ़ावा देने में मदद करता है, जिसका उद्देश्य आपदाओं के प्रभाव को कम करना है. हर वर्ष, इस दिन के लिए एक विशेष थीम चुनी जाती है जो आपदा जोखिम प्रबंधन के किसी खास पहलू पर ध्यान केंद्रित करती है.

International Disaster Reduction Day was first declared by the United Nations General Assembly in the year 1989. The day helps promote the goals of the United Nations’ “Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction” (2015-30), which aims to reduce the impact of disasters. Every year, a special theme is chosen for the day that focuses on a particular aspect of disaster risk management.
